    The End is Nigh

If you're talking about the Starlight items (Dream Hat/Robe/Boots), I believe I recall reading somewhere that you'll simply be able to trade the materials to an NPC to obtain one of the items. So... you oughtta be all right. I hoarded a few of those materials as well for fellow RPers and folks just joining and such - just in case!
  2. May I also join the waiting list? :whm: EDIT: I can try to think up a situation/pose later on, or you could maybe depict her at the campfire with her teakettle like in our forum RP thread. That would be kind of awesome! My WIKI PAGE is somewhat incomplete and out of date, however her appearance is explained and there are some screenshots and a couple other artists' renderings.
  3. Most of what you're saying is what I've considered also - possibly turning Eva's residence into a sanctuary/shrine devoted to the Twelve and just having her live in a little room offshot from it or somewhere else entirely ICly. That's pretty heavily contingent on what the costs/benefits of being in a FC are. If it makes a lot more sense logistically for FC's to be centered on endgame-type stuff, we may just keep Crystalline as a linkshell in its current form and build the temple-y HQ from Eva's residence instead. We should definitely talk. I saw you registered on our forums over there so I'll get you added to the LS discussion and chat if you want to shoot the breeze with some of us.
  4. I'm really, really, really, really, really hesitant to comment about what my stance is on the whole free company thing, because I feel like we're still lacking a lot of information in that regards. From a RP perspective it seems to me that our Crystalline LS in ARR would make a lot of sense as a free company in its own right - and possibly affiliated to something like what you've described, given the Thaliak tie-in. My concern comes from the fact that we've been told we'll only be able to join a single free company, and there's been a lot of hesitation due to lack of info because some folks may want to join a more endgame-centric FC as opposed to something dedicated more specifically to a RP purpose. I think as more info comes out it may be easier to comment on my own personal stance and what exactly we will be doing with our LS in regards to whether it will be a FC in its own right or just remain a RPLS with members spread out across various other FC's and such. We'll be polling the members and figuring all this out as more info comes out. But to answer the question - I definitely think it's a great idea and am interested to hear more.
  5. The elezen smiled softly at E'iri and gave another slight nod of her head. Observing him seating himself a bit away from the others it dawned on her that he might feel somewhat intimidated what with her teakettle's whistle serving as something to abruptly rally a couple of her friends to her side. The only weapon she carried was a dagger she nearly always wore strapped to her thigh, but travel in the Twelveswood was dangerous, even so close to Gridania. For a moment she'd thought to withdraw the dagger and cast it aside as a symbolic gesture, but she realized how easily that might be misconstrued, and she appeared to be unarmed anyway, and that was probably as good in his eyes as being unarmed. Instead, she relaxed her posture a bit and hoped that she appeared non-threatening. With her robes she realized she looked rather unimpressive compared to some adventurers with their fancy armor and their impressive weaponry. The only thing which sometimes struck some folks as being a bit intimidating was that bluish tattoo that streaked downwards across half of her face - but for her, even that had become as much a part of her as her arms or legs and she no longer gave it much thought. "Well, I can't speak for A'eyshn or Manari, but I live in Gridania, though I like to take walks out in the woods sometimes and this-" She glanced at the contents of the pan over the fire before continuing, "-well, I'm still somewhat new to cooking." She paused a moment, inspecting the meat on the pan a moment. "I think it's about done now~" She motioned joyfully, then her cheeks pinkened a bit once more as she realized she possessed no utensils or dishes. She'd meant to cook it out in the wilderness where she would be safe from burning down her cabin, cover the pan, and bring the rest home to eat there and save the rest. "I don't have any silverware or anything, so..." She gave a sheepish grin, picking up another small bit of the meat between her fingers, pursed her lips this time to blow some of the heat away from the morsel before popping it into her mouth. "Mmmm~" After chewing for a moment, she beamed happily. She wrapped a thick woolen cloth around the handle of the large cast-iron pan, and extended it towards E'iri.

Ul'dah?! How'd that get there? There's actually a really cute story to kind of go along with this, because Eva is pretty much Gridanian through and through. :study:
  7. Evrol, who used to post here and whom I really enjoyed RP with in FFXI, was Finnish and English was his second language and I always really enjoyed our meetings. I know a lot of people are self-conscious about speaking a second language, but I also know it takes a lot of courage to try and reach out like that. For what it's worth, your posts that I have read look very clear and I understand what you are saying pretty well I think. But I will repeat what the others have said, and that is please don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions or send a /tell or a PM if something is unclear. Most people are very happy to explain something that may be unclear.
  8. [spoil]Yeah, she's very seldom not wearing the lilac perfume. It's usually not particularly overbearing or anything though, and the food cooking might have drowned it out somewhat, but I guess miqo'te noses, being what they are and all...[/spoil] Eva smiled a friendly smile and gave a slight nod of her head to the miqo'te fellow, "Well, it's nice to meet you E'iri. Oh... this dodo came from the marketplace in Gridania. I'm still somewhat new to cooking and I figured if anything went wrong over a campfire, I wouldn't burn down my cabin." She giggled softly, leaning back a bit and appearing more relaxed, "I like it out here in the wilderness, besides." Following E'iri's gaze she gave a nod of recognition to Aysun as she arrived, directing her smile at her, "...and this here is A'eyshn. She's a friend of mine. We used to work for a mercenary company together some time ago." Violet eyes remained fixed on Aysun as she spoke in her somewhat airy, breathless voice. "Oh, ah... were you hungry also? I was making extra to keep on ice shards, but I've plenty more at home I can cook." Her smile widened a bit despite what appeared to be a sort of awkwardness between the two petite miqo'te when a third one she'd also recognized strolled up towards the campfire. "Oh, miqo'te all around today, it seems~" She spoke in a bit of a lilt, shuffling the pan a bit over the fire to ensure that the meat was cooking evenly amidst the spicy reduction. "I've plenty roast dodo for you as well Manari, if you're hungry too." Reaching into the pan and picked up a bite-sized bit of meat between her thumb and index finger, quickly casting it upwards past her lips. Holding it between her teeth for a moment, she shook her hand and managed the word "Hot" around the bit of meat. A few seconds later she bit into the dodo and gave a satisfied nod, "...and spicy." She wiped her fingers off on a cloth napkin that had been folded neatly on her lap, lowering her head a bit in a pitiful attempt to conceal her blushing cheeks.
  9. The tension seemed to leave the duskwight's shoulders a bit as the new presence made himself aware. She glanced the stranger over for a moment, finally settling her mind that he wasn't much of a threat. She gave a friendly smile and gestured to the fire. "Oh, I was just making dinner for the coming week. Roast dodo. My father's recipe. But I've never really made it this way before with the spicy sauce drizzled over it." She paused a moment, glancing at the bubbling sauce reducing in the bottom of the pan. "I hope it tastes as good as it smells. You're welcome to a sit a bit, if you're hungry. I've plenty extra, but nothing really to go with it except for tea. I hope that's all right." The fair skin on her face blushed faintly. She hadn't really anticipated on company, but she had grown accustomed to putting on more tea than was needed because friends seemed to always have a way of popping out of the woodwork, and the blend of tea leaves she'd spent years perfecting seemed to have become something of a success. "Oh, ah..." she tapped her chin a few more times, glancing at the miqo'te fellow, "...they call me Eva, by the way." The soft smile touched her lips again as she motioned with her hands for him to join her. [spoil]Just a quick FYI- My next response may not come until much later tonight or tomorrow morning even.[/spoil]
  10. [spoil]Non-canon is good. I know there's a lot of retroactive RP ongoing right now, but I'm hesitant to participate in any of that because even small exchanges may have consequences that shift things in a direction in which things may not have played out in canon lore. Since this thread doesn't specify a particular point in the timeline, and since characters' personalities change over time, I'm going to kind of portray Eva as she was in the days nearer the impact date, over the past month or so.[/spoil] The lone elezen woman huddled over the campfire was a curious sight all by herself. The pair of round amethysts that were here eyes closely inspected the roast dodo in the oversized pan as one finger tapped gently against her chin as though she were contemplating whether the food was cooked enough, or seasoned properly. A turn of her head revealed a strange bluish tattoo covering the left side of her face; its pattern vaguely resembling a gnarled branch. She reached into her satchel and produced a small container of table salt which she smiled at before turning back to the fire and sprinkling a bit of it over the roasting meat. She hummed softly some somber tune as she fussed with the meal. There was a fair bit of dodo meat - far more than the lone woman would likely eat in one sitting - though no vegetables or side dish seemed to accompany the meal. There was, however, a kettle set beside the large pan. And without much warning, it began whistling loudly as steam rose from its spout. The woman nonchalantly turned back to the satchel beside her, affording another good look at her face. In addition to the violet-colored eyes, her skin was extremely pale - probably duskwight - and long tresses of yellow-blonde hair were tied back with a leather cord behind her head in a very long ponytail which ran vertically down the back of her cloak almost like a yellow stripe before ending just above the ground. Her features were soft and she seemed a bit older, maybe in her mid-to-late twenties. She also seemed very heavily absorbed in her work over pan and kettle. The woman picked up a large bag of what could only have been tea leaves and dropped it unceremoniously into the kettle, moving it away from the fire and bringing the loud whistle - which had drawn a few gazes from the camp - to an abrupt stop. The satchel itself seemed rather large, and for an elezen the woman seemed rather short in stature, though it was difficult to gauge her exact frame since the green robes did a fair job of concealing her form. Pointed ears seemed to quirk at every little sound from the nearby camp but she paid them little regard as she slowly flipped the roasted dodo meat over in the pan and then poured some kind of spicy sauce over it - the aroma wafting across the entire encampment and vicinity. Her eyes never left the pan as she produced a few small tin cups from that satchel. A keen observer might also have noted a pair of silver knitting needles jutting from the top of the satchel and some unfinished project or another knit from yarn of various shades of blue and purple and gray. Red lips parted for only a moment as one of her hands fell to her left knee, fingers drumming against it almost nervously. Her voice was soft and sounded friendly if a bit unsteady as well, "How long are you going to stay there before introducing yourself?" Her head spun around slowly to reveal a sort of half-smile, and those violet eyes seemed to inspect the area where she'd heard some sound, though it seemed as though she was unable to locate its exact source right away.
  11. That's awesome!! But totally, totally non-canon!! (but totally hot anyway)
  12. This. Exactly. On every point. I'm sure I'll bug you at some point too if you're still open to it after all the other requests you're gonna get.
  13. Whoa!!! Blast from the past! I still want to write articles for your newspaper!! Great to see you resurfaced!! :cheer:
  14. That's interesting. I kind of disagree with the author on a couple of points, but I do agree with the "Just RP and have fun" thing, and really that's the most important thing anyway. Keisuna/Shiro recently whipped up this, and I think it's highly appropriate!! [spoil][/spoil]
  15. I really like the options to be able to view your characters in multiple types of lighting. I hope they add additional options for hairstyles and such, but understanding this is still an alpha, and - remembering how the character creator looked in the original alpha - I'm impressed and hopeful.
  16. Welcome to the community! :cheer: It sounds like you have quite a lot of background and a good head on your shoulders. If you need anything just ask. Most everyone here is eager to help out, and sometimes when starting out a new character (assuming it will be new and not a revamp) it's always helpful to kind of throw out some ideas at the wall here and see what sticks or meshes. I'll be looking forward to meeting your character in ARR!
  17. Holy cow!! That looks utterly amazing! *picks her jaw up from the floor* :cheer:
  18. Eva Ianeira (Kes Zelorius at age 13) Plot of land #10 Description: Eva was not what most would consider a pretty girl at that age. She was very shy/reserved back then, usually not found without a book within reach, wore glasses (but not those fugly round ones) for reading, no facial tattoo, long blonde hair down to her butt. She'd already, ah, "developed", and she was rather pudgy by that point as well so she might have a bit of a belly. She'd be wearing a more conservative, long-sleeved dress, probably purple and white, and maybe with some kind of floral design on it. No jewelry/accessories of any kind other than the glasses.
  19. I don't think anyone's really happy about it. Since the original stated purpose of this thread was for my concerns to be heard, and since they have been I'm going to go ahead and lock it now. Nothing good is stemming from it at this point and it's getting off-topic. I realize as a moderator I am biased in this decision, so if Kylin or one of the other more impartial moderators feels it should be unlocked, by all means please feel free to do so. Our intentions were good, but it seems like she's so attached to something I said last year that she needs to keep my name there. Oh well. I suppose maybe I should be flattered she's fighting so hard to keep my name there~
  20. From xkcd, for relevence (because I created a "dramatic thread"): She's already stated that she's going to stand her ground and not remove it despite my requests. She can keep it up and she can keep trying to convince everyone that her reasons for posting it in the first place are fact. I believe otherwise. I really don't have anything further to contribute to this thread so I'm going to get back to work now. Both blog/thread will stand and life may finally go on now. Again, sorry for inconveniencing everyone~ Looking forward to RP over the next week-and-a-half!! :cheer: Also OP of this thread is a 'she', not at 'he'. At least, the last time I checked.
  21. Listen Sugarplum, it doesn't work like that. Cause and effect. You posted your exaggerations first, before I posted the above truths. I asked you to remove it before this thread was even created and you didn't. Now you demand that I delete this thread and you'll suddenly comply and do the right thing? If you delete that blog - than I'll consider withdrawing this very objectively-written RPC post. If you want to insist upon leaving it, than I'm content to leave things as they are and move on with my life and enjoy the last week+ of RP in the game. This doesn't faze me much, I just felt it was in poor taste. But it's wrong of you to make it out like I somehow started this. You know very well that putting my name in your blog out of context in such a manner in order to, I don't even know, bolster your LS? Bolster your own ego? Whatever the reason, it was wrong. And while it's an assumption, given the past I think you know it was wrong and chose to do it anyway. It sounds to me like you're just upset that I called you out on it. Whatever the case, I'm over it. If you delete the blog I'll lock this thread and we can get on with our lives. If you leave the blog, I'll get over it and move on with my life. I think most everyone that I care about that may have misconstrued your message as some sort of indication that I actually still had some iota of respect for you now realizes that's simply not true, and I suppose has a pretty grounded understanding of why. So the thread served its purpose as far as I'm concerned. The fact remains I wish it didn't have to be made in the first place. For everyone that's had to endure this or simply doesn't care, I'm sorry. Here's some fun-shaped cookies for putting up with it. [spoil][/spoil]
  22. I just want my name removed from the post. It's unfair that something so petty has to come up when a lodestone search is conducted on my name. I've already asked her directly and that request got deleted (see above). Is there any way to report this?
  23. Life Mage, definitely! (some of those are hilarious though!! )
  24. Just as a quick note of clarification, there really is no "they". My initial grievance isn't with the linkshell but rather with my character's name being used in that fashion by that individual, and me being quoted out of context as such. As it stands, I am on friendly terms with a small handful of people who belong to that linkshell and it really isn't my intent to burn those bridges over an apparent disagreement with its leader. As stated in the initial reply I have a lot of fond memories from my time with TALE and have always considered myself on friendly terms with many of its members. What you said is interesting though Merri, and I appreciate your feedback. If you happen to find that study I would certainly be interested to read it.
