Opened up a new journal for Steel which I'll be updating semi-regularly here:

I'm finally home. After a long few months aboard the airship the Longpatrolman, I have made my way back home to Limsa Lominsa. I believed the tethers that bound me here broken, but after a time with the crew of this privateer company, I'm reminded that I never really am able to leave my city or Eorzea, but simply turn away from her for a time. I am conflicted as I walk through the sun-bleached stones of my city. Adulation that much is the same, yet curious at how much is different. Terror, too, at once more not knowing anyone, having severed contact with many people as I attempted to rearrange myself and my priorities. I don't expect warm welcomes or even open arms, and so I enter this city like any fresh piece of flotsam arriving to dock. I will make my way home and will lend my arm to a better cause. Not to infer that the duty of the Longpatrolman was selfish, exactly. I still believe that its intention of exploration and recovering artifacts was a suitable and worthy endeavor for my talents, and it brought about no lack of tales to tell. Still, something inside me stirs me to an action that is greater than any mission an airship crew can provide. Today, I will rest. Tomorrow, I begin the task of seeking work that will help me towards leveraging my new strength and determination to some greater good. It is my hope that this good will not serve a government or a king or a sultanate, but will help people. I have at least a couple of leads in that regard, and hope that following them will bear fruit. But that is tomorrow. For now, I miss the ale of the Drowned Wench, which is not a sentence I ever thought I'd write.

Nothing in the lore I've read indicates that you have to be Ishgardian to take up the sword of a dark knight. In fact, being removed from Ishgardian influence could be seen as a boon to their mission of true justice against those of higher station abusing their power.

About the only low point of the movie for me was Vader punning. Otherwise, I had a great time. Outstanding entry in to the Star Wars canon. That said, ep. VII showed that the new guard can tell awesome stories too, even if that story hit the same old notes. It's time for Star Wars to stop staring mistily at eps. 4-6 and move forward.

Likely won't play it, definitely not an IC choice, but I am eager to watch it in action. My husband, however, is so on board with the class it hurts. All he needed to hear was "rapier and spells" and his ears shut down as he was immediately sold. He loves character classes with high style and dresses his BLM in very high fashion, So RDM is likely going to be a hit.

Butter is pretty damn delicious. And thank you for the waffles! Welcome to the game and to the RPC. Here's hoping your character is able to make those connections she's searching for and that you have fun!

Hmmmh... Really good little tidbits here. I am very curious what the new UIs are for jobs like MCH, if there will be any. Also, replacing skills? Yaaaaas pleeeeez.

Steel would probably end up in the Dragon Age universe. Mostly because that's a place where I could see an amazonian giantess living reasonably well as a travelng blade.

Maths. The amount of gear from launch to 3.0/HW is < the amount of gear from launch to 3.0/Hw to 3.x to 4.0/SB.

With all of the new gear available now, the gear arrving in 3.5+ and all that arrives in Stormblood, I have a very hard time thinking a new race will be announced, hard-working though the devs may be. Speaking as a pipe dream scenario? Yukes get my nod, with the Viera being a distant second.

Steel had already done some minor service as a hired blade with the Maelstrom in order to fund her and her husband's armoring and smithing shop. When Carteneau took her husband, Steel tried to follow his example and become something greater. It's a journey that has yet to find resolution, though her arm has been given to many worthy causes.

I wonder when the trend of buttcapes will finally fall out of vogue for this game's designers. Most of the gear seems to involve some errant piece of cloth hanging around the waist and doesn't really provide a sense of visual dynamism. It's especially worse when you consider that XIV's cloth physics aren't really that great. I'd just love to see more heavy armor options or other cloth integrations, like tabards or loincloths and the like.

I assume "The Source" is the wellspring of the Lifestream itself, which houses the crystal of Hydaelyn. Considering all the sworly stuff in that region and how easily people's aether is moved there, that's my best guess.

YEAH THAT'S ANOTHER THING! What the hell is the Lord of the Puns gonna do with...whatever that was? I assume it has maybe something to do with an Atma Weapon? I dunno....but I assume next major patch will focus on that.
