I'm very curious to know if I know the FC or these people. This type of behavior isn't to be expected or tolerated. Off-topic but I have no idea what has gone on with the lala linkshells. I was in once and then it either disbanded or I got kicked @_@ @Mimiko: If you're in the Ul'dah area and your character is more "good" aligned, Kage would be happy to say hi. Or well, if not "good" he doesn't need to know >_> I'm generally on from about 7-1am EST (4pm-10pm PST). Kage usually sits on a railing or generally hangs around in Quicksand in Plunderer's Gladiator gear when I'm free to RP. If I'm about to do anything I try to at least bring his part to a smooth end. Otherwise OOCly I just ((Sorry I have to do CT/help a friend, see you))

This is the first I have ever heard of anything quite like this. Remarkable. I think that perhaps the people you ran into aren't RPers at all but are just trolls. It sounds like a certain FC is griefing people. I've never run into this and I've been in Ul'dah for maybe 2 weeks now working on getting RPs. Not getting RPs is more my fault than others, but I've never run into anything remotely like this but except for people trolling a friend. Edit: On reporting note, have you reported to the FC heads about this? If you look up those you blacklisted you could find the FC and those who might be in charge. Maybe their head doesn't approve. I'd also report them for harassment too with Square Enix. Though I'm not sure what you mean by recruit. Are you trying to recruit people for your particular LS or FC? Or just to get into RP in general. I've never really had a problem when sitting and then doing some emoting in the Quicksand about drinking my worries away a bit and if people are bored or interested they'd come up. Other times people are already involved in their own RP and cannot just break away from it.

People would just wear the horse helmets! Or unicorns. Horse helmets for slaves indentured servants I mean er... Yeah T_T Except they're bigger. And differently barded chocobo would hurt more. (Ul'dahn crested barded things have horns on top!) Granted if these fights and races are sketchy most people won't care if that's also a thing.
-
That sounds fun~ I was thinking of horse races when the Horse Head event was going on Choc Fights?! Nooooo

Well I could be very wrong But in my experience and as far as I know Twitch isn't available for video uploads but for livestreaming. Sports teams? I root for the Ul'dahn Drakes of course. /shot

Twitch is much, much more livestream based than youtube. You're basically streaming live, which well can be fun. It can also make your Let's Play a little bad if you plan on lots of edits ala Cry or Pewdiepie (ok I admit it I watch them T_T) I guess my first question is what your plan is with the LPs. A streamed setup or lots of edits? Twitch is fun for speedrunning charity marathons as well as real time interaction with an audience if you plan for having that.

On Paladin note, I am curious how many are RPing as Sultansworn and actively doing duties in that respect? Of those, how did they start to do so? As an established Sultansworn or one that was eventually initiated during RP?

Any time I see Nat I get worried I did something wrong even though I never should be... Am I the only one who is not worried when I see Nat? O_O You are the only one in Ul'dah without a guilty conscience apparently. Nat is so tall and austere sometimes. Also, taller than Kage and maybe he shouldn't tease so much. >_>;
-
Any time I see Nat I get worried I did something wrong even though I never should be... Unless Kage's teasing her about babbies I mean what. On that note I've seen a mix of (who I think of but cannot confirm) around 30/70 AF/AF2 geared Paladins vs Free Paladins who seem to be RPing. Having not delved into the lore (lvl 17 Gladiator), I imagine that Free Paladins are more similar to the wanderer helpful types that Paladins outside of FFXIV apparently seem to fall into vs Sultansworn who are pledged to either just the Sultan(a) and/or the Syndicate and are mainly concerned with just Ul'dah and its areas.

A Nervous Paladin's Plea - How to Make Friends and Flash Enemies

> Is that a change in server I see? Don't forget to hit me if you want a BLM. Though I'm not sure if you'd want me. What is this psychotic BLM behavior you speak of in WP? -
I want to preface this by saying that I've used Windows all my life. This includes when Windows was still running on top of MS-DOS as 3.x versions. The only versions that I didn't really touch were NT/CE/Server editions. So when I say that I don't prefer 8.0/8.1 it's most likely from the very big change I had to go through. That said, if you do transition to 8.x I highly recommend the free update to 8.1 immediately. There are tips and tricks to using 8.1 that weren't intuitive for me. I switched to go to desktop on start and there's stupid things like how 8.1 won't always register your swiping to get to some admin tools like shut down/control panel. I found out that the best and most convenient is right clicking the windows icon on the taskbar in desktop mode and there is everything. I haven't had any real compatibility issues with 7 Home Premium or Ultimate nor have I really had any issues with 8.1 either (and if you're more interested in this part, FFXIV). It's not a horrible OS but it's definitely a lot more idea if you use tablets often or if you have a touchscreen. I have more of a "meh" attitude towards 8.1 and if given the choice I'd stick with 7 for a long while until it becomes obsolete by 9 or so.. Before you update though, have you considered a reformat of your system? I know you don't want to go into it but my laptop that was only available in Vista that I immediately changed to 7 upon release is still fine. Perhaps a driver was corrupted and a fresh reformat would solve it?

This. So much. How do people deal with this? I was in a little small RP on I think Wednesday night and I suddenly see a flood of rp that didn't scroll properly and I had to backtrack fast.

I remember seeing this and loving it. Also "Nailed it." and "Not my fault." parts. Also lalafell pally. -
It was really fun meeting with you last night Even OOC at least we were able to set things up~? I also really need to set up camera angles better because most of the time I see someone wave or approach me too late and I only see them as they run away and/or the chat box. Those /wave 's!

No worries! Things have been slow at work for myself too so I've been lurking a lot more than... I usually should /glances around From all the stuff I've looked at, Kage leans towards Lawful Neutral but I wouldn't define him by that standard at all.

Hi! Sounds like I might be online around the same time as you and in the same areas. Kage is making friends in Ul'dah but he honestly doesn't know who might be shady or not. I'm like you, I definitely would prefer to do planned RPs (probably why I started with forum RPing) over spontaneous ones (that and I find it so hard to even initiate RPs with people Q.Q) I mostly just stand there and wing it, being confused on what to do. If you're ever in Quicksand and see a Lalafell feel free to say hello or post here and let me know what you're interested in. Kage's more on the.. "good" side of things but he's never really been exposed to anything super shady or whatnot. He's in-training as a Gladiator and hoping to become a Paladin (Sultansworn) but as of late he's been sitting on the railings in Quicksand people watching. He hasn't been able to quite take the good IC advice given to him to just go out and do it (mostly because I find it hard). His story is similar to how I feel about my own life. I don't see him as a main character; he seems more like a supporting character in everyone else's lives. No real triumphs, no real tragedies and he seems happy to have it that way for now. So if you ever want to plot that you think you want Kage for, let me know by posting back here or in PM or feel free to do so in-game. My PST times seem to match your EST times (ish). I get home usually by 7pm EST.

One of many failed attempts... Natalie's got the best one :3

Honestly, I'm not particularly concerned about the RP aspect since I'm very new to the community and its customs, etc. I'm more concerned by the fact that, while the organizers may not think it is an issue, people even consider it a puny detail. You can report the abuse of this information given all you want but once it is out there, there are some really shitty people in the world. If people really wanted a good time, I don't see why they would be concerned with RL gender. Age? Maybe? But even then I don't see that as an issue. If someone ever asked me A/S(/L)... well. The fact that they'd even ask me about sex or gender is a pretty big turn off. I've said it before, I hope it goes well. But the small increased 'benefit' you get in trying to make the event open to more people doesn't outweigh the negative stuff that can be brought out by including those types of things. That type of information isn't something that can or will be abused for just this sort of event. It can be used days, weeks, months later. All you need is one person to be an ass and they will see this as an excuse to do horrible things. Edit: I'm just gonna stop now. It feels like beating a dead horse because maybe people don't think this is a privacy concern that can affect the rest of a gaming experience but I do. I don't want people to even have to face that. Everything can be done with good intentions until some ass comes along. I just wish that would be prevented.

A Nervous Paladin's Plea - How to Make Friends and Flash Enemies

On another note of those you listed, Ultima HM I thought would be the hardest amongst Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda... in my run I thought it was easy. Then again as DPS I just had to run around making sure I took as little damage as possible while exploding orbs and taking down magitek bits. The only thing I know for this fight for tanks is that they need to swap because Ultima stacks something on them. -
I was thinking of the whole Maid Café thing but I didn't think about it until people mentioned it (I'm aware of them and such, just not for me ever). Maid Cafes as far as I know are much more in lines with RP than this. Every "maid" would be in their role. They wouldn't reveal anything about themselves in RL because of the very issues that we are trying focus on. That said, I still hope you don't run into any of these issues. Just don't be surprised by it. I think it's putting undue burden on those putting their time into the fundraiser.

A Nervous Paladin's Plea - How to Make Friends and Flash Enemies
Kage replied to Steel Wolf's topic in FFXIV Discussion
If you were on Balmung I'd say I'd party with you. My friend joined up later than I had and mains a Paladin so I ended up being one of the "mentors" in our group with my other friend who does WHM. I went with him through Qarn, Cutter's and CT (along with another of our friends who plays WAR. That was an interesting experience). Starting with Qarn, I've decided it's a little bit of a tank check since (not essential but preferred) some targets are highest priority (BEES). Also there's those blocks that need to be killed on the tiles. The golem is interesting because it wipes its aggro table a bit so it switches even though you have full hate. Flying lalafell screws with my camera The last boss is essentially dodge the aoes while you just tank the boss. Ranged DPS have it easy with the first boss as there is a spot for you to be out of range for doom. My friend who is inexperienced with tanking found it easier than he'd thought it would be. Cutter's Cry - Basically you just pull tank. The chimera is only hard if you have people who don't know what to do with the Blue / Purple though you do want to avoid its frontal cone attack. CT - Barring the first few mobs, I don't think it would be too hard. If you can, you can get a premade and most likely you can OT things. You pull things in order or facing a certain way (Valefors. Their tails need to face AWAY from people). For Bone dragon, you aggro the Platinals (Skeletons) to the tiles furthest from the center on the outside and kill them there (1 skelly per tile). This gives DPS more time to kill them before reaching the boss and dealing dmg to the whole alliance (putting them close together gives them a sprint buff). Vassago/Bomb You take the adds that need to be taken down asap or you tank the Vassago so it faces the lava (outside, so you want your butt outside). Move it when the large aoe appears so no one is in it, including yourself. KB you can ask to be on a tower and for the fight you're essentially there to click the tower or run to a comet. Very rarely have I seen the need for the tower tanks to take up aggro when King Behemoth kills the mt or the tank on Iron Giant comes. (Basically take IG away from comets and KB). Archeron is pretty simple for everyone. Just make sure you kill the Iron Claws and get to your platform so you don't die to the wide flare thing he does. -I actually didn't know one of our BRDs yesterday in a CT PF group was new. We only found out when he killed 2 skellys upfront when he had aggro and didn't move. (The worst part was the paladin who was AFK most of it and was just watching it happen in front of him and into Atomos and we decided to Vote Kick him) We let him know it's ok and I explained the fights while making sure the alliance knew we weren't ready while I did it. tl;dr Just go at it Take a friend along if you're worried about the wipes. Everyone is inexperienced at one point. -

I feel exactly the same way a lot of the times! There's a reason I don't feel comfy even attempting to start a learning T1-2 coil party just yet.. As a tank, not to put any unwanted pressure or anything on you, it's your show. If you want to cautiously pull the mobs, as DPS I'm fine with that. You mark things? I go from 1-3 with 1 being the priority. Want me to sleep? I.. Well I don't know most of the sleep mechanics/strats so I'd need direction on that. I'll just sleep whatever you tell me to. Are we running? I'll follow you as best as a I can but sometimes it just feels like lalafells run slower. I'll ask if you want me to just burn the bees of AK down or if you want me to lb them. I didn't feel comfortable with AK until recently after I did the run with a friend or two a couple of times while gathering the Philo tomes I needed for my relic. WP is the same except I've only run it twice now. I haven't unlocked the other HM dungeons (Haukke, Copperbell) or Pharos Sirius just yet... but I don't think I'm ever going to unlock Pharos Sirius . Perhaps you can get a few premades with people in PF or get some friends to help out? I've found that learning by doing is still the best experience... I just need to work up that courage. -
Once again thank you so much for all your help and advice! I hope you all get your loot soon! I would also be stupid to not have put it in when ARC needs to be 15 for BLM. I just... need to get in the habit of using it more often than in burning phases so it becomes second nature. Quelling Strikes is a different matter since my ARC is lvl 23 or so and it's become a bit of a chore to level it. Of the ones you've listed and described I only have Raging Strikes and Physick. I leveled my ACN just about to get Physick. Would you agree then that if I wanted to use all of the cross-class abilities, in order, I'm best off getting Quelling Strikes and then working on ACN? Since I'm now in DL or higher and barring able to get actual experience in Coil soon, I'd be aiming for Myth Belt, Choker, and earrings before say... pants and shoes. Right?

I hope you don't mind it; I've been trying to get a friend to RP with me and he had recently fantasia'd his miqo'te into an Elezen. He mentioned considering it as an Ishgardian so I've pushed him to try and look into this thread and the previous one!

I echo this! All of this. Even the money part T_T
