  1. Are you MANDERVILLING? That's very unlike you. Also, more Vachir + Alderique + Beach.
  2. Appropriate and desired response. Excellent.
  3. Unspecified Roegadyn, Lalafell, and Miqo'te. Unspecified shirtless Lalafell. I like drawing Lalafells, can you tell? Alderique, a bomb, and some moogles. Note the attempted DRK moogle, and the DRG moogle. And finally, an Arthurioux Duchamps.
  4. Welcome! I would keep an eye out for events going on as a place to start meeting people and getting familiar with some other players. I also find it helpful to include links to a player profile and/or character wikis in your signature for others to have easy access. Examining players in game also can reveal a lot—many people point out if they're a roleplayer, what kind of roleplay they're into, or even sometimes snippets about their character. A lot of people will have "random rp okay", "walkups welcome", or something like that. I've had situations where I've private messaged these people in game to initiate a little RP. It's intimidating at first but sometimes it helps get things going.
  5. I prefer men, but there are a few lady NPCs that come to mind: Iceheart is beautiful but also has a personality I dig Y'shtola. Don't usually care for Miqo'te, but I like her design/intellect/attitude Moenbryda. Smart, friendly, social femroe. Enough said. That's probably about it for me, that I can think of.
  6. In addition to the taverns, keep an eye on the RP Events section, as individuals and free companies host all sorts of events, from tavern nights to combat.
  7. YES, MAKE ME MORE POWERFUL. I feed. Thank you very much for all the compliments. As far as Alderique goes: I'm pretty happy with how his looks came out! (someone at the Gold Saucer today commented how they liked his freckles). It might just be a combination of facial features and skin tones, I dunno! I almost race changed early on, but decided to stick with my initial choice and roll with it. I'm glad I have, so far! (I enjoyed our happenstance RP by the way. Thanks for participating!) As far as drawing goes: I've been drawing since I was a wee popoto, and for the longest time, and even into college, I was just never really happy with it. I overthought and overworked it most of the time. I stressed and criticized, and aimed for perfection. Other friends I had would just quickly make these beautiful doodles and I envied them, and eventually I learned to let go and just dive right in. In my early years in college I drew SUPER realistically, spending 20+ hours on a single drawing, but eventually I just kinda stopped doing that and found my way to impulsive drawings. I do like to draw from life for practice, and I want to do some more "refined" drawings related to FF14 and RP, as well as these quick things. We'll see! My advice to anyone who draws is to just do it without worrying about it so much. If you want to be critical about it, do it after you're done with a drawing. Look at it, think about what you did, what you might want to do different next time, or what you might want to improve on. Then do another one. None of my drawings are precious, and I just do it again if it doesn't work the first time. It's an exercise in repetition, and eventually you just get better at it and develop into something. I'm adding my tumblr to the original post, in case anyone wants to see my non-FF14 stuff.
  8. I wish Donatello drew too. He was a rad turtle.
  9. Drawing of my buddy Valor, from a screenshot of when I found her standing around in Mor Dhona.
  10. When in doubt, racial underwear can often pass for swimwear!
  11. It may just be me, but I find that these type of posts indicate what I was pointing out before; the good old IC is not OOC confusion. I ask you, if you do not feel comfortable with these themes in the setting, why does one roleplay in FFXIV and not jump to another game, setting or anything, where these topics do not come up? It just seems strange to me to stay willingly in a setting if you can not set apart IC and OOC if these topics get onto your nerves. I've seen this kind of prejudice in most MMOs I've played, and it's pretty unavoidable. If it's how others want to play, I can't tell them not to, and I wouldn't stop roleplaying with someone if their character had some sort of prejudice. I choose not to do it.
  12. The real world is full of racism, xenophobia, and all sorts of prejudice already. Many people have to deal with it on a day-to-day basis. I would really hate to be someone who has to deal with this on a regular basis, only to log on and have characters treat you poorly because of your character's citizenship or race. Yes, it's just playing pretend, but I believe your roleplay experiences get to you somewhere in your subconscious. It's fine if other people do it, and I wouldn't scold anyone for doing it. It's built into the lore and in most games, anyway. I find it tiring after a while, and just prefer to move on to other themes that I'm more interested in, rather than emulating something I would prefer didn't exist.
  13. "This land displeases me, but this creature will suffice."
  14. This sounds like a good idea if the symbol isn't being used, though I'm always bothered when a game mechanic is appropriated to mean something else, and not everyone is in on it. I would suggest adding a note in your search info that says "Materia meld Icon means I'm in character", or something along those lines, so that people can confirm.
  15. Thank you! I will use that more from now on. I'm not very technically savvy with these things and often run into issues with quotes and spoilers.
  16. I like Roen's campfire screenshot a lot, and the atmosphere. You can really feel the cold just looking at it. Also I fail at trying to quote posts with images, because I end up with some horrible pinterest link.
  17. Shut up everyone this dance is new to me so I'm going to milk it. Also this is for Vachir.
  18. It's lots of shaggy anime cool guy, and a couple of in-your-face oddballs. It works for him though--you can always change your mind again later for a modest fee.
  19. All cleaned up. I'm always on the fence about whether or not I want to use the new combed style. It makes me look like a pretty tumblr boy, and I both like it and hate it at the same time.
