OK, there's a bit of double meaning to this one. Firstly, now that I've gone and established my first cap on Gilgamesh, I'm slowly easing myself into the idea of getting into an FC to hopefully network a little more. While I'm not particularly new at getting into and/or being in an established group, I feel a bit intimidated about it, especially between thoughts of how I'm going to progress through the endgame. I figure an RPFC would make both processes less stressful in the long run, given some of my experiences with-- ahem, supergroups to be laid back and forgiving when it comes to actual game content. But, this segues into the other half of this--again, thanks to my other experiences, I've always had the mindset of "a group base/house is supposed to be private". With XIV having these very open, accessible guildhalls, it's difficult for me to figure out whether I should risk going into a place uninvited to introduce myself, get some RP going, etc. Hence the reason why I've been skulking outside the Drifters' place every so often.

Brings something to mind... http://youtu.be/mL0zWuQXh1E

You'd be looking for... . The FFXIV official YouTube channel usually posts their videos for all officially supported languages (of course, the voices are either English or Japanese.) And they saved the best part for last, of course. (Oh, it auto-embedded the vid. Interesting.)

It amazes me how obvious I am, some times. Seriously, even in my intro thread.

... With my current avatar, that is. In case it so happens that I change it. I've done similar work in the past for my other main MMO-- turning some of my friends' and acquaintances' OCs into a sprite format to use as forum avatars and the like, for a small payment of sorts. I'd been meaning to break down and make an XIV-themed sprite for my character, but just recently cracked the slump to get it done.

Great intro, Arenswys, and welcome to Eorzea!

Hmm! These are looking very good, indeed. ... Is it bad that my first thought trying to process this question is 'in a "needs more Roe' kind of way?"
-
Nope, it's being carried over. I'm still going to think of Brayflox as male, though. The entire thing is just awkward, now.

I did poke a mention in-game a few days ago, but I want to say congrats again on your new residence! Might have to stop by again.

Eep, I haven't formally asked to get in this thing yet, so I'm rectifying now. Kroemgarr Hollborgsyn is my only character at the moment, and I'm available in the evenings, Pacific time.

Woohoo! Congrats~ Poor guy looks so lonely sitting on that bench. :c Thank you! Also, truth be told, I was wanting to use the second screencrop as my entry for the forum contest that's going on now. I have this one instead. -

Celebratory screenshots for reaching LNC50. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l230/axel-the-wind_2/c4bfa369-8001-48d9-b7c5-905a4249b27b_zps14571ccd.png[/img] http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l230/axel-the-wind_2/4932cd73-086f-4fa1-ac78-42bea66a033c_zpsb715bf8f.png[/img] -
I was originally going to post this in the Pokemon thread, but it's really a wide thing that affects many games. On May 20th, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection capability for Wii and DS/DSi games will be going offline for good-- only a handful of services, including each console's respective shop channel and internet browser, will remain functional. See here. UPDATE: The entire list of affected games.

I honestly didn't want to touch Windows 8 with a 100-foot pole back when it first came out-- and later, when I originally started considering upgrading my old computer... which was still running Windows XP, by the way. That said? It's not as bad as I thought it would be.

Since the template code isn't playing nice with me, I'm doing it myself! Harumph! CHARACTER NAME: Kroemgarr Hollborgsyn >Main and primary character >Beta test name: Hyurrim Greysky STARTING CLASS: Lancer (DRAGOON) SECONDARY CLASS: Gladiator (PALADIN), Miner, Armorer GRAND COMPANY: Immortal Flames FREE COMAPNY: House Aryll [stag] LINKSHELL: Bridgeguard, Anlace of the Stag, Jeweled Sands, Driftwood Coast, Adventurer's Guild RP Info Roleplay Intensity Level: Casual. Due to a full-time work schedule and juggling a second MMO (Champions Online) where I have guild leader duties, I only ever considered FFXIV as a on-and-off-again RP outlet. Views on RP Combat and Injuries: In terms of text, can be done well if the players involved are mutually collaborative and know when to wind down. I don't have much experience with any actual PvP. Views on General IC Interaction: Most of the RP I do these days, even on other games, is social-- so I'm very fine with "tavern talk" and the like. Views on IC Romantics: This is something I've not really experience personally, so no thoughts. OK with others in public as long as it remains tasteful. Views on Lore: This is a big sticking point for me. I pride myself in wanting to make sure that a character I create in an MMO remains respectful to the general theme and lore of the setting. While I would have a preference to find other players that might stick to similar conventions (especially where exotic races are concerned), I'm aware that it's not always possible. Views on Chat Mechanics, in relation to RP: Can be adaptable depending on how the situation requires. I do generally avoid /shout and /yell, though. Player Info Country: Canada Time Zone: Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8:00)

There's too much too like, I think. *The inn music (and the "going to sleep" jingle). *I'm glad they kept Twilight over Thanalan as the opening theme for starting in Ul'dah. *Speaking of Ul'dah, the city's night theme instantly struck me the first time I heard it. Both of Gridania's themes are a close tie at second. *In terms of battle music, the Black Shroud variation of the regular battle, and the first version of Boss FATEs. *Of the Primals? Titan. *Daytime Mor Dhona.

Just at the wrong time, but it made this a little funnier, IMO. -
Well, color me a bit surprised to hear from a handful of CoH vagrants! One and all, the welcomes are appreciated~ Edalyne - Good thing I have access to all the housing areas! Cedric - Well, if it isn't Denji! That was a pretty spot-on guess you had there, I am indeed one and the same as you have recalled. But I wonder... how am I *that* recognizable? Heh. Mippa - Experience is a blessing and a curse, I assure you.

I guess I noticed that one right away, considering I had one of those questions pop up in my registration.

I think I've looked at a couple of these things already, but it doesn't hurt to keep things on hand. I'll have to poke around for the OOC linkshell at least, that way I can stop being anti-social Really, I thought my jump to the PC version would have fixed this, but it turns out I'm even quieter than I was without a keyboard! Anyhow, thanks for the welcome! Hope to make myself at home for a while.

I'm a bit late with the intro, since I've been playing Final Fantasy XIV proper for a week and a half already-- more like gunning it because I must try to get that Bohemian's Coat! Anyhow, it's been an enjoyable return to Gilgamesh thus far. The server was where I played through some of the PS3 beta test prior to the release of the game and the decision to make it the secondary RPC server (I remember reading through the discussions back on the test forums), though now I'm using an actual computer for the real thing. My current character, Kroemgarr Hollborgsyn, is essentially my 2.0 of the character I used for beta. Now, for the thing you're all probably most interested in: my RP experience. Truth be told, while XIV isn't the first MMORPG I've had the ability to play, it *is* the first of such I've been hands-on with in the traditional fantasy genre. Most of my online activity in terms of gameplay and RP for the past five years have been in superhero games like City of Heroes (before it closed down, mind), and Champions Online, where I've enjoyed creating a wide variety of original (thematically-appropriate!) character concepts. I also previously hosted several forum roleplay sessions on Kingdom Hearts Ultimania's clan forums-- though MMOs have largely killed my desire to play-by-post (or rather, any kind of substantial writing) these days. As for XIV, it's difficult to say for the moment how involved in RP I want to get because of how different this is to the environment I'm used to (where more or less anything goes if it's comic-worthy). And perhaps I take some things related to RP and theme a little too seriously these days. Can't deny I'm itching to find Kroemgarr's voice at least. Perhaps I can catch some people around and put it to use for a little while! Keep fighting, adventurers!
