  1. Thank you for all the long-winded people who expanded on this, especially the passive/active elitism split (which I was kinda trying to go for in my first post).
  2. This is a topic that I empathize with quite a bit. I've only played two other MMOs other than FFXIV (both of them of the superhero genre), but pretty much every RP guild I've been in for an extended period of time in either of those games have had strict core themes, no-nonsense rules and expectations, and/or some sort of screening process (such as applications or interviews). At face value, it is elitist-- but there's a difference between this and what's connotative as elitism. Remember that when you're putting together a guild of any kind, you're looking for people who share your interests and values. If someone doesn't share in this, they aren't going to mesh well with you or the rest of your community. And in the case of an RP group, even a well-presented character might just not work in context you might be going for in a guild (a berserker in a group of white mages, anyone?). You'll get people who think poorly on this in any community, but there's just as many that see "strict" guilds as something worth looking into because they're so discerning.
  3. I'll put this on my "attempt to attend" list. With my new job, I dunno what sort of hours I'll settle into just yet, but I would like to try and make it, even if it's later on.
  4. Current reference sheet as of 27th December 2014.
  5. Hmm, might have to grab a couple of refs for ye, too.
  6. Apparently, the new dub cast is going to be personally vetted by Naoko Takeuchi herself... but yeah, the original English dub is pretty classic.
  7. I figure I'd answer this since the questionnaire probably came about from our conversation over PMs, D'ly. 1. I think that any attempt to try to make this accessible to people who frequent servers other than Balmung is appreciable. The thing is, it's a bit difficult to try and estimate what the real-world equivalent of gil would be, since in-game currency is simply an investment of time spent grinding and there's no alternative that has a defined value (like items in a F2P game's cash shop would have). Making a ton of alts that would function as currency holders really isn't feasible either, I gather. It's a tough call. 2. I could say yes to that. 3. Given the gil prices on your current selection, around the 45000 to 50000 mark as a minimum is a rough estimate. 4. Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo.
  8. Oh, now that I see this... the server thing might pose a problem. :<
  9. ... ... Oh, for Twelve's sake, I yield! Waitlist me for one. (Upon realizing that any character is fair game, of course. Not enough slots and definitely not enough gil for the loads of requests I could potentially have! ;X)
  10. These aren't my screens, but I am leaving this here and I'm not sorry for it.
  11. Nice work on those examples! I might give some time for the wait list to clear before deciding if I want to get one, but I'm interested.
  12. Yeah, I'd move it out of Program Files and throw it in a general Documents or Games folder, it should do the trick. (Also, just in case, there are certain cutscenes you can't take screens for, so I've heard.)
  13. If you're running Windows 8 and have the game saved under program files, screenshots won't work because the directory-- to make a long story short, won't let it. That's from personal experience with another game I had issues with, and it's because of that I saved XIV in My Documents. If that doesn't nail it, I'm not sure.
  14. During the Live Letter XIII, it was revealed which songs from the game will be making it into the upcoming Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call. Answers The Land Breathes Fallen Angel Torn from the Heavens Under the Weight On Westerly Winds Serenity Engage To the Sun The game will be released in Japan this April.
  15. You're welcome! Still wish I had it transparent, but maybe I can work on that down the road.
  16. Could you, really? That's why I didn't made a LS page yet. I don't know how to make one and I thought the page might be too bland without one. I'll see what I can come up with this weekend, then. "Idle hands...", after all.
  17. The closest analog I can think of is relating your character's story to the fall of Ala Mhigo at the hands of the Garleans-- the event causing him to harden his beliefs in the city-state's patron deity, Rhalgr. He could either find himself as one of the many refugees that come to Ul'dah (though, ironically, in the mechanical sense the sword-and-shield class you can learn here translates over to the Paladin/Knight job later) or he could travel to Limsa Lominsa and pick up skills in a more savage fighting discipline to match his newfound fervency -- the marauder. I'm sure others can help you better than this, though.
  18. (This may be a little early for me, but I'll do my best to try and come. Also, if people want, I could try and throw together a LS banner/title card, since I have experience with such things.)
  19. Definitely going to try making it to one of these.
  20. Well, hello there! Good to see more friendly faces on Gilgamesh.
  21. I guess I better move faster on getting my Relic weapon if I want to do it before Philosophy support gets dropped.
  22. You know, the timing of this is very convenient considering that someone suggested I should get a ST after explaining a recent-- err, incident. Will definitely look into this ASAP.
  23. Good! That makes me feel better. That Coalition invite would be a big help, too-- I did post to the LS thread a while back, as well, but hopefully soon I can catch you or someone for it.
