Aurifort read the parchment over again. Each time he read it, his blood would boil to the point where he would grind his teeth and mumble curses without knowing. That bloody bitch will pay for this…they will all pay for this, Aurifort crumpling the paper from his tight grip. The bard had made friends, many friends. He just couldn’t understand how? The Pyralis he knew was quick to temper, ruthless, and showed no emotion when he worked with them. Hell, the bard cried for the first couple of years fetching with Aurifort, a habit he broke from him. After a while the bard just did as he was told, no sympathy, no emotion, just work. I have to respond to them all…I have to make them understand our power, the Elezen thought reading the parchment once again. The master’s spy walked into his room without knocking and making a sound. “I like this leader’s response. Smart, cunning, and deadly.” The masked female Hyur said leaning against the wall. Aurifort jumped up and glared at the woman. This one I hope gets her throat cut one day, the Elezen thought. “You read the response before I even had the chance?” Aurifort said while still re-reading the parchment. Of course she did…she’s a spy…that’s her job. “Of course I did...I suggest you take her advice. You are stretched thin as it is and having an academy in Limsa where we are weakest does not bode well for us or you. Refocus on Pyralis and simply him. Making threats on behalf of the master will NOT end well for you Aurifort.” The masked female said while looking off in the distance. “You expect me to let this go? She brushes us off as if we are some simple hired hands! She and her allies must pay!”Aurifort slammed his fist on the table and stood up glaring at the Hyur. “The master could give two shits about some academy, miqo’te clan,or exiles. He wants the bard, just the bard. Put away your petty anger and focus on the real task Aurifort. I’m leaving for Coerthas and Ishgard today to report my findings. Do not do something foolish. If this hub falls Aurifort the master will have all of your heads.” The masked female Hyur got up to leave without making a sound. Aurifort frowned and crumpled up the parchment throwing it aside. Perhaps she is right…the Elezen thought falling back into his chair and leaning back on it. But the anger and blood was still boiling in him. His pride was hurt and he did not want to let some little miqo’te insult him. He looked to the lalafell messenger who was tied up and shivering. A thought ran in his head and he smiled, “My little favorite messenger…take all the coin and jewels I have stowed away in storage. Bring them to the shrouded three in the desert. One will go to Limsa and infiltrate the academy; the other two will find anyone who is related to the academy, this keeper’s clan, or the exiles. They will NOT kill them. They will stage it as a robbery and cause as much harm as possible. This cannot lead back to us my little messenger. I may not be able to deal out the punishment myself but I’ll be damned if I just let this go.” The lalafell whimpered and nodded his head quickly. Aurifort took out a dagger and undid his ties before snatching the lalafell by the shirt and bringing him close, “Before you do the task I gave you…you disappointed me. Pick which eye you want to lose.” The lalafell paled and stared at Aurifort with horror. This will have to do…this will have to satisfy my anger. The lalafell did not offer a response. So Aurifort took out his right eye while the lalafell screamed and flailed. I love this job. -

"The faces are involved…does the master know this yet?" Aurifort asked leaning back on his chair while rubbing his eyes. Why must this bard cause me so much trouble? The masked, dark skinned female Hyur, with pure black hair said in her soft voice, "I thought I'd tell you first. Seeing as how once he gets this information he is likely to send me here to do a simple task you're failing at." "Careful woman, accidents happen to careless people with a loose tongue." Aurifort snapped back at her in a harsh tone. The Hyur female was the master's head of information. To simplify it, she was a spy, a murderer, and someone that made him very uncomfortable. Aurifort hated her because of the lack of control he had over her. The master paid her vast sums of coin for simply giving him information. Information was useful of course but he and tower were the ones on the front lines. The Hyur nodded her head at Aurifort’s comment and said calmly,"You are correct for once. So guard your tongue before I rip it from your mouth and have the tower eat it." The Elezen fumed but made no response to her comment. "There is a resistance against the faces being led by a miq’ote keeper named Kiht. The bard is helping the group. They are struggling and adding another enemy to the list, specifically us, would crush them. We offer them a choice Aurifort. We offer them resources and help against their threat in exchange for the bard. If she refuses we send you and the tower to show them we mean business." The Elezen raised an eyebrow and nodded his head, "Not a bad move and you know tower and I could use the release...but I'm telling you he will come for the girl we have eventually. Just give it more time. I also would rather not get mixed up with another group." "No...We have tried it your way and we have had no trace of him since you let him slip by. I will turn all of Eorzea against him so he has no place to hide. I will make sure to smother him so he has no room to breathe. Those that help him we will simply sweep aside. If my effort fails you and me best hope he does come for the girl.”The Hyur female said approaching his desk and sitting on it sideways. The beauty took out a dagger etched with the symbol of a lock with many lines going through it. “Until that time, you are not to lay a hand on the girl. I will also see her.” “You don’t order me around girl!” Aurifort snapped at her before calming down while watching the dagger, “Go see her…I’ve had my fun with the bitch anyway.” The Hyur female nodded and put the dagger away. As she made her way to the door she turned her head and spoke in her usual calm tone to him, “This is your last chance Aurifort. Send your messengers and get this done. I really do not want to make the trip from Coerthas to here again.” She left and closed the door gently and gracefully. Aurifort let out a sigh and stared up at the ceiling. I’m going to enjoy finally getting my hands around that bard. Oh Yes I will. He thought darkly before calling for his messenger to deliver a message to the resistance leader. Aurifort looked at the lalafell who had a quill and parchment out ready to take notes. He began, “To the graceful and wise leader who fights death itself, you have a traitor in your group…” -

((Cause I'm feeling creative today)) Not too long ago the sounds of pleasure and pain filled the cave. The former slave girl Lina was dead asleep and he made no effort to even look in the direction of the black haired Hyur girl that had shot him. He had quickly left Yangh after their 'exercise'. His back was on fire from the thousands of glass pieces that had dug into his back. The bard carefully and silently walked to the back of the cave where the stream of water was. Yangh could be creative whenever they were in throes of passion. To be fair she had given him warning that tonight he would be hers. He hated her but at the same time found it hard to resist her. The type of relationship they had was disturbing and hard to understand. Pyralis began to tend to his wounds on as his back as best as he could. Has it been hours already? How long were we at it? The bard thought grimacing as he tended to his wounds. He told himself this would be the last time he give in to Yangh's allure, to her pull. If they survived everything, he would never see her again. The bard was good at avoiding people although Yangh was just as good at finding people. The reality of their situation had set in. Aurifort had Sarah and most likely if she wasn't dead he would have broken her. Pyralis frowned and splashed some water on his face. Should I care that he has her? She told me to die...she told me she never wanted to see me. Pyralis thought but felt guilty after. They were all in this situation because of him. The slave girl Lina that was traveling with Yangh, that was on him. Sarah being captured, was on him. Instead of trying to put an end to Aurifort and the master's business all those years ago he ran. The memories of his past continued to haunt him as he ran a hand through his hair. Lina slept quietly and her brands had stopped bleeding. Pyralis could feel the burning on his cheeks and forehead although he did not have brands. Blood for Blood, Pyralis thought remembering he had taken away Lina's pain and given it to himself. Aside from the pain which was actually quite painful, Lina was able to glimpse briefly at his past, his memories. Something the bard had hoped would not happen. He sat gently with his back against the wall and stared up at the ceiling and grimaced from the pain. He would work with Yangh to get Sarah, he would obey her and all her commands for now. Hopefully her hunger is sated for now...although if it wasn't.Pyralis found himself grinning but shook his head. He had to get his mind focused on the challenge up ahead. Infiltrating the stronghold, healing his wounds, healing the groups wounds, and thinking how to deal with Aurifort and the Tower. The Elezen would be ready for them, that much he knew. How they would deal with it, he did not. The bard let out a sigh and closed his eyes. Hopefully he could catch some sleep. -

The keeper just wouldn't break. Aurifort was being washed from head to toe by the merchandise, blood tainting the water he was in. The blood belonged to a keeper they had taken from the shroud. The feisty girl had so much fight in her and would not submit to their will. He even had the tower torture her for a day straight and the damn girl would not budge. Perhaps the fetcher was losing his edge? Or maybe it was just the pressure of having the master breathing down his neck. Aurifort shivered at the thought of upsetting the master and stared at the bloody water. How long had it been since he was truly afraid? He controlled so many lives and could take them all at a moment's notice but he felt powerless against the master. Even the Tower would freeze in place when speaking to the master, the tower! Aurifort clenches his fist in anger and thought of Pyralis. The source of his anguish and pain. The bard was so damn illusive and he was so close to having him. The Elezen walked by the hired assassin, a black haired Hyur who was perhaps the assassin's apprentice, and the master's pet. If they had been in the shroud that meant Pyralis was there as well...right under his nose. Hide in plain sight, didn't I teach him that so many years ago? Aurifort thought grinding his teeth in anger. The merchandise continued to wash him carefully and must of sensed his growing anger as they began to scrub extra gentle. The Elezen laid his head back and closed his eyes. He had grabbed the master's slave and the slave confirmed that they were after Pyralis. The anger had nearly blinded him and he would of cut the girl's throat right there had she not been branded for the master. When he got her back, he would make sure to discipline her on behalf of the master. He would make sure she suffers tenfold for provoking his anger. Aurifort had sent a small team dressed as wood wailers to capture the bunch but the report he got back from the Tower was that they were all dead. The tower had told him that the group had actually teleport out together. The assassin had played them even though the master said she would not disappoint. Aurifort had not told the master yet as he knew the fury he would unleash. He specifically did not want to deal with the master's personal advisor, that creature had to be from the void. Well he would have to take out his anger on his own personal pet, the red head Sarah. Aurifort had not branded her or spoiled her yet as he wanted to have the honor of doing it in front of Pyralis. The tower came lumbering in and grunted towards Aurifort. "I hope you've brought me good news Tower." The Elezen said keeping his eyes closed and head back. "Gone. No sign. Disposed of bodies." The tower said in his rough voice. "They'll come...I told the master's slave to pass the message along. I know for a fact she will do so. Start preparing the defenses old friend. When they come I want them to be surprised. I want them to feel the fury. Prepare for anything." Aurifort said running a wet hand through his black hair. "I prepare all. If assassin come. I want." The tower said turning and leaving. Aurifort smiled and almost felt sorry for the assassin once the tower had her in his clutch. Almost. -
((Greetings everyone. I wanted to open this thread to get some back stories on characters and where they were/what they did during the calamity. I've noticed all my time RPing that hardly any characters mention the calamity or how it impacted them. So feel free to post your response to the thread. The scene is as follows:)) A group of performers are resting their caravan around a campfire. The smell of delicious food hangs in the air. A lalafell is playing the harp but no one is speaking. An old Hyur man shouts over to you in excitement at seeing someone else. "Greetings adevnturer! Would you care to give us some company? We have plenty of drink and food to feed half of Eorzea! We are traveling performers and our feet our weary. We only ask you give us a tale for the drink and food. It may be big it may be small! We only ask you what we ask all who share our fire and meal, where were you when the calamity struck?" The old Hyur man bowed and motioned to a Roegadyn who had a plate of food ready and a drink of ale as well.

It felt odd to stalk prey again. After so many years away from the shroud it still gave him a sense of thrill to wander the forest. Except this time the thrill was more fueled by fright. Pyralis was stalking the fetcher, the Elezen who was so sick and depraved Pyralis still had nightmares of his time with him. Aurifort had once been his mentor and the thought of those times made the bard sick to his stomach. Aurifort was out disguised as an old wizen Elezen who many would not give a second glance. Now he was stalking Aurifort through the shroud, waiting for the right opportunity to strike him down. The Elezen had a specific route he would walk nearly every day to make sure the others were keeping up with their quotas. After watching him several days and memorizing his patterns, Pyralis was certain that today would be the day he kills Aurifort. As he continued to stalk his prey, waiting for the right opportunity, the bard thought of events of the past couple of days leading up to now. He had essentially cut ties with everyone, just as he always has in the past. Sarah had practically told him to go die when she stabbed him. Yangh was simply Yangh and he could never understand what she does or why she does it. He had injured T’aloh and Elarian at the academy although he hardly had any recollection of it. He was being hunted by assassins, by his past, and possibly members of the academy. If Kiht had not offered him a place to stay he would have been in worse shape. I’ll have to repay her somehow, Pyralis though twhile navigating through the forest, eyes still on his prey. Aurifort stopped as a lalafell female ran up to him clearly in distress. Pyralis tried to listen but he was just too far out of range. The Elezen nodded at her and handed over some gil as the lalafell female ran off quickly. Now was the time to strike just over the bridge near Hyrstmill. Pyralis took an arrow out from his quiver placing it on the bow and ever so gently drew the string back. Breathe, focus on the neck, one clean shot, and this monster goes down. Pyralis thought focusing as much as he could on a clean shot. The bard almost let the shot fly when he saw a familiar face and figure walking towards Aurifort. Yangh, a black haired female Hyur, and a young girl with a scarred face and long blonde hair. The Elezen held his gaze on them as they walked past each other. The opportunity was gone; the chance to end it was gone. Why did Yangh always have such impeccable timing? -
Aurifort sat in his den watching the fire burn, reminiscing of the times he had heard his victims scream and plead for mercy or for the agony to stop. A dark smile came across the Elezen’s lips as the memories and euphoria of them washed over him. Aurifort was the master’s fetcher. Any slaves or “merchandise” as the Elezen liked to call them that ran away or were not paid for in full he’d have to go and “fetch”. He absolutely loved his job. The killing, the branding, the torture, and of course the extracurricular activities that came along with it. Why were all of these things considered so wrong? Why was it considered immoral? In the mind of Aurifort he was doing Eorzea a favor; he should be considered a hero of sorts. He was taking away the poor, the unwanted, and the masses that would never make anything of themselves. All the trash and undesirables were free game in his master’s mind and his own as well. Of course a few unlucky ones who happened to be traveling by themselves just had it coming. They should have hired guards or have been better prepared for the worse to happen. Aurifort stood up and looked at himself in the mirror. Tall, dark slicked back black hair, a pointy face, and not a single mark anywhere to be seen. The merchandise should be happy for the chance to lay with such perfection, almost a God. A knock on the door disrupted the Elezen’s gaze from the mirror as he spoke out in an annoyed tone, “I hope this is good, I’m looking at perfection right now.” A massive Roegadyn walked into the Elezen’s den barely fitting through the door frame. The giant was covered from head to toe in pitch black plate with a twisted looking axe hanging from his back. The master had given him the name “The Tower” as he never truly had a real name. Aurifort and the tower were in charge of fetching and shipping the master’s slave trade operation in the Shroud. The tower lumbered his way to Aurifort and spoke in his gravelly voice that sounded like rocks shattering, “Girl in room.” Aurifort smirked and nodded at the tower. The Roegadyn spoke hardly any words and was possibly crueler than Aurifort himself, just possibly. Aurifort patted the tower on his arm and spoke with a wicked smile, “Ah perfect my dear friend. Unfortunately we cannot have our fun with her yet. Not till we get the prize the master wishes.” The tower let out a grunt and turned to leave the room, ducking down to avoid hitting his plated head on the door frame. Aurifort looked back into the mirror and winked at his reflection. He and the tower had captured the perfect bait to get the master’s star pupil to come out of hiding. The redheaded girl Sarah Rose had been captured and surprisingly she wasn't even hiding to begin with. She had been right under their nose in Gridania. The look of horror when he had told her the lie about her sister raised his urges, but he had to keep them in control. One of the young merchandise he had captured near Bentbranch Meadow kept her head down as she walked in the door. Aurifort smiled wickedly and snapped his fingers at the girl, “Speak property.” The young girl said softly, “New merchandise has come oh great master.” Aurifort smiled and gently patted the girl on the head. “I’ll make sure to reward you tonight for bringing me such great news, now out of my sight.” The young girl quickly nodded and left with her head bowed. Aurifort made his way outside of the fort to the beautiful sunny day in the shroud. The merchandise was slowly being emptied from the carts as a couple of wood wailers were being paid their usual fees. The Elezen raised his hands from the doorway and shouted out at the new merchandise, “Welcome to your new lives! Forget your troubles! Put away your past! Forget the cruel realities of the lives you left behind!” The merchandise turned their gaze to him all with that look of horror he so enjoyed. Aurifort’s smile grew wider “Today is the day I break you all and brand you! You are no longer living beings! You are now my property!”

Help me decide where to go with my character, please
MrPoopyButtHole replied to SunKittyEm's topic in RP Discussion
You could always make your character an established criminal who made a boat load of gil off illegal things who is finally trying to make the illegal gil clean (Gil Laundering ). She tries to set up a "shop" or whatever business you like to make all her wealth seem legitimate but her criminal dealings in the past catch up with her slowly. Good luck and hopefully you work something out. If you were see Pyralis you can approach him for shady things. He has loose morals when it comes to many a things. -
