A shame for the player maybe. For the purposes of the game world though, it helps to have a clearly defined "bad guy" for everyone to hate on.

Me either. I'd also go so far as to encourage people to re-write things so they make sense to the lore.

Expansion Announced: Heavensward, releasing Spring 2015
Coatleque replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV News
I don't see it as a 'problem' either. I am simply tired (see: not bored) of the same mechanic every single time. I wish someone would just do something different for an expansion rather than regurgitate the same experience in another ten levels followed by the same 'end-game' again. -
Expansion Announced: Heavensward, releasing Spring 2015
Coatleque replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV News
But that already happens NOW. And it's not just me stating that. A constant thing on developers' minds is how all that hard work they did just goes to waste when new content comes out. Nobody ever goes back to the old stuff. I am sure they can find some way to re-use the old stuff with the new. -
balmung Garlean Sultansworn - Noire Nel Nelsicar
Coatleque replied to Aldotsk's topic in Chronicled Connections
She could probably use Aether then. But now you're running into the current revelations on "cross-breeding". -
balmung Garlean Sultansworn - Noire Nel Nelsicar
Coatleque replied to Aldotsk's topic in Chronicled Connections
So, just throwing this out there, but the lore panel just confirmed that pure-blooded Garleans cannot use Aether. Sultansworn training requires the use of Aether through conjury to cast their protective spells and use other methods of combat. Ergo, Garleans cannot be Paladins, and thusly could not become Sultansworn. -
Expansion Announced: Heavensward, releasing Spring 2015
Coatleque replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV News
Can an MMO once, just ONCE drop an expansion without raising a level cap? I am sure they can fill it with enough content and trinkets to keep things going without requiring us to grind out another ten useless levels and two - three more skill on an already full hotbar. I liked how things were done with the gear iLevels. That would have been an acceptable system in and of itself. -

But why? Why always the nakedness? -
I think they want you to intentionally forget he's actually on the Syndicate so you don't hate him in the other questline.
-
Wat? That dick! He shows up late for his own convention AND gets cuts in line? *rage* Disclaimer: This post is obviously meant in jest
-
True, but we're talking about Paladins, not infantry. They -are- the horse (see: Chocobo)-mounted knights.

Remember to cross your arms and look condescendingly at others! Do us proud, Kage!

Coatleque couldn't help but laugh along with Aya at that remark. "Well, current reports say he's not been active in Ul'dah for quite some time now. I am sure if he crop up again I will hear of it. Especially if he is so drawn to trouble as you say." She began to sip her tea again but her eyes were drawn to the right were the three men were still huddled together. She lowered her cup with a shake of her head and turned back to Aya. "I hadn't expected them to remain over long as they have. Mayhaps we should sneak away before they notice we are still here?" Her question came as a playful jest rather than a serious suggestion. After all, Aya had barely even touched the chocolates.

"It is peaceful once you are accepted.", she said in reply to Gridania. "The elezen are not as receptive to outsiders, especially those of us who were once so hostile. They seem to hold long grudges." She sighed. The name C'kayah cought her ear though. She had heard it mentioned often enough as a whisper around the streets. She also remembered reading it in reports as she went through Natalie's files before taking on the case to acquit Roen Deneith. Little did she know she would also be personally involved with the man as well sometime later. "C'kayah? I've heard that name before around the Quicksand. It is always spoken of in hushed tones though. Who is he?"

That's pretty much what we all do as well! What you may want to do is search for and read up on a brief history of Eorzea though. That way your story does not clash with already established events in the game world. It is a good idea to have at least a general idea of game lore to jump into. After that you can read more into things as necessary.

Using Anime anything to try and defend a point is like congress declaring pizza a vegetable because it has tomatoes in it.

Where to start? On Balmung most people will point you to the Quicksand in Ul'dah. Other hot-spots include the Drowned Wench in Limsa Lominsa, and various open-world taverns in the Shroud. As far as Linkshells, there are many available depending on what your character is/does and what time you are active. There is Lili's Free Wings and Night Owls as she stated. Friends of Momodi is an OOC shell where a bunch of us just shoot-the-breeze between RP and dungeons. OpenRP is another I've seen advertised. The Sand Pearl is an IC linkshell for Ul'dahn law enforcement, as well as Sultanswarm for Sworn and Free Paladins. There is a good mix of people from all time zones on the server. The largest concentrations being PST, EST, and Europe times. You'll find most people around evenings in those time zones. Hope to see you in game!

Why? Why is this still okay? Ever since the Judgement set in WoW I have been disgusted with Paladins in dresses. Why must this still be a thing? Don't get me wrong, I would be okay with Crofte wearing some kind of armored dress as formal attire. I've tried matching the spring dress with the Gallant set, but it just doesn't look right. Free-flowing cloth is NOT good for combat situations

Coatleque's smile brightened once she heard that Aya knew Jancis. "Fun? Why, she is the absolute best! I wouldst say that her and I are like sisters. She is so sweet, polite, and treats all with the utmost respect. Her and I are alike in that way at least. She had taken me in at one point a few years ago when I had nowhere else to go. We studied together for a time in Gridania, though she was so much better at conjury than I. I daresay I would never have become a Paladin if it were not for her help with my lessons." She realized then how much she was rambling on again and took pause to sip her tea once more. "She does not have much time to visit the city I am afraid. Busy as she is with errands for the Maelstrom and Coral Sea both. Alas I am kept just as busy with my work here, though I do take time to visit her in the Mist when I can afford it." Movement to her side pulled her gaze towards the window as someone walked by the shop just then. "Is there anyone that you visit on occasion outside of Thanalan?"
-
"I did, and I was!", she exclaimed (though still in her even and measured voice). "Dressed much as I am today as well. I do occasionally peruse the shops down the main section of the lane. I admit I am not typically there to buy, though." She took another sip. Pausing for a moment, she glanced at the men again who were still speaking in hushed voices to the side and rolled her eyes. Turning back to Aya she continued. "How should I describe Master Tarrot's shop? Quaint. Cramped. If I hadn't known better I would say it is an accident waiting to happen. On more than one occasion I found myself bumping into some gaudy piece of art that was precariously placed too close to the aisle. It is a wonder that half his stock does not wind up broken by the sun's setting. Still, he had almost anything you could hope to find for such a small space. I parted satisfied at having found a new book and an amber broach for my friend Jancis." She canted her head for a moment in thought. Unfortunately her 'shopper's sense' was not so practical as Aya's was perhaps. "I believe the price was reasonable. Though I am not one to argue, as you know. Oh, was there something you were looking for?"

And the forums are so quiet this morning! Fan-fest is making me have to work while I'm at work D:

Coatleque looked at Aya half in shock and half in amusement at her outburst. She had never seen her friend show so much of a temper before to anyone. She glanced to the whispering men and felt some measure of pity. Shaking her head she turned back to Aya. "Well, we are planning to head in that direction. Perhaps they will be content with our promise to at least attempt to see whatever show they are preparing." She echoed Aya's sentiments though as she continued, "Though we are quite capable of walking ourselves." She sipped her tea again, being quite sure that the situation had been properly handled and waiting for the men to properly show themselves out.

/derail thread You know, for being her 'personal' elite guard and all, they sure are loathe to include the Sultansworn in these cutscenes. Shouldn't there at least be some generic ones in the background? Even in the Chamber of Rule while the Syndicate is in session, I would expect the room to be lined with them. /re-rail thread I must needs finish the MSQ so I can be caught up for this! I still haven't gotten to the new Hidabrand stuff either yet.

Who's bedroom was Nanamo in at the end there? D:
