  1. Finally, I can kill of this boring and generic paladin and turn into the character I was always meant to be.
  2. I am not often on skype but you can search for me by character name.
  3. That's... disturbing. If it threatens the national security of Thanalan, you can be sure Crofte will be interested
  4. Coatleque

    Plays

    Well, you know what they say... while(!$Success) { try { try { again(); }}}
  5. Unless she is out on some investigation or other, Coatleque is typically found in Ul'dah. If she's not carrying a shield, then you know I'm IC.
  6. I'm always interested in meeting new people. I don't believe Crofte and Chika ever interacted before. She's the quite, business-professional type though so don't expect too much bubbly-ness.
  7. First, look for updated drivers from the NVidia site. If you just bought the computer pre-built, chances are it's behind by a few months. Second, make sure it has good air flow and that the fans on the graphics card are spinning (and that air is coming out the exhaust vents). After bad drivers, the next leading cause of graphical glitches is an overheating GPU. They are more temperature sensitive than your CPU is.
  8. If you mean the 90 minute count down, that's just how long you have till the bonus rewards are revoked. It doesn't kick you from the instance when the timer runs out.
  9. The sun was low on the horizon as Lady Crofte made her way up the stairs of Raubahn's Salute at the southern end of the Goblet. Clad in a soot black dress with glossy heels and matching gloves, she held a long and bound object under one arm. As she reached the mid-point landing the man she was to meet was found standing along the railing admiring the vew. His ears twitched at the click of her heels as she approached, but he did not turn. She waited a moment before clearing her throat softly to garner his attention. "Ahhhh, Ms Crofte. Thank you for coming to meet me tonight..." His smile widened as he watched her. "You look lovely tonight..." She smiled at his compliment, but her eyes trailed away from him to the surrounding view for a moment. The cliff side nearly glowed orange in the setting sunlight. "Thank you.", she said at length. "I have brought the item as discussed, as well as Natalie's words on the matter." There were many things she could have said to lighten the somber mood which was settling around them, but she had not the heart to try this evening. C'kayah let his eyes follow hers around, his mouth opening to speak. Her words registered, and his smile faded. "Of course", he said. "Thank you for bringing them." An awkward silence followed as she searched for the right words to say. Finally at a loss she merely nodded and stammered "Ah... yes, well. We should probably take care of business first then." He nodded in agreement. "What... what words did she leave for me?" She carefully handed over the item she carried to the man. It had been carefully wrapped and bound in cloth so as to avoid being nicked or scraped. He received it and raised his eyebrows at its telltale shape and weight. Tucking it under his arm his attention returned to her as she retrieved a small and folded parchment from the gil purse that hung at her hip. She slowly unfolded it and held it up to read under her glasses to read before him. "My sword I give to C'kayah Tia, my first and deepest love. I had always begged you to take up the sword for your own protection, though you never had a blade worthy of the name. My sword, nameless and plain as it is, has served me through untold trials. Somehow I am sure, even if I lay broken on some battlefield, it does not. May you... " Her voice cracked with emotion and she paused to compose herself. "May you wield it for the right reasons." C'kayah listened, his face growing grave. "Gods", he murmured. "She meant it, didn't she...?" Coatleque slowly lowered the paper and began to fold it once more. "One thing she was not, in my experience, was a liar." The man held the wrapped sword in his hands, looking thoughtful at the walls past her ear. "Gods...", he repeated. Placing the parchment back into her purse, she turned to his side and slowly walked towards the benches along the railing. She took a seat and her gaze fell upon him once more. "I am sorry for this. It should not have happened." "Yet neither of us are surprised. She never took much care with her own safety." "You knew her longer and better than I." "I didn't think I did, toward the end", he murmured. "But perhaps I was too hard on her." "Were you? I do not know why you parted, though I have heard her side of it vaguely. I would think being tortured is a hard thing to put behind you." C'kayah shook his head. "Right now, I'm not sure why we parted, either." She tilted her head slightly. "Other than the conflict of interest between your professions?" To this thought he turned away and looked out over the canyon. "There was less than you'd imagine.", he said. "For what it is worth, I pray our own mutual understanding does not end in the same manner.", she replied before looking awkwardly at the ground. The man turned back to her, his eyes sorrowful. "Natalie and mine were based on love", he said. "Our understanding developed from that. Yours and mine, Coatleque, has a more practical foundation." "All the more reason to be sure you do not cross mine path.", she interjected. C'kayah watched her, his gaze hardening. "I took your threats at face value when you first issued them", he said coolly. "You don't have to remind me at every turn." She started at this and blinked. It was painfully obvious that her attempt at casual conversation had failed. Death seemed an almost daily part of her life as a Sultansworn. While it was always a hard thing to deal with, she had never quite gotten the role of comforter down correctly. "T'was not my intention to threaten you here and now. I do apologize if my meaning was lost. I simply meant we do not have the same bond to consider before we act.", she said with a sigh. "I... will leave you if you wish, before I cast an even darker gloom upon your heart." Here nodded, his eyes thoughtful. "We don't", he agreed. "Forgive me. The things you brought me have left me shaken. You'll have to excuse me, I do want to be alone for a time." She nodded respectfully. "I understand. Perhaps when your head has cleared you can tell me what you know of the name 'Redgrave'. Good eve to you, Master C'kayah. May Menphina comfort you this night." C'kayah managed to smile at her. "Mainly what I heard from Natalie's lips. But alright. We'll talk soon. Menphina bless your footsteps." He watched her as she walked away, then turned, lost in thought.
  10. "That would depend on what flavors you like most", Coatleque responded to Melodia as she turned her attention back to the Miqo'te. "Like any city, Ul'dah has its good and bad sides. Extravagance and poverty stricken locales. The Ruby Exchange being a fine example of the former, whilst Pearl Lane the latter. If you prefer the survey the political landscape you may wish to travel the Gold Court. I would avoid the Husting Strip, however, unless you have official documentation." She turned back to the railing and gripped the support bar. The deep blue-green carpet of ocean below them was already giving way to the approach of land. There on the horizon sitting atop the tallest hill could be seen the outline of the city. The Knight gestured with her free hand for Melodia. "And there she is now."
  11. The Paladin stopped with a half-duck for a moment when she heard the pops behind her. Turning back toward the crowd. "Bloody hells." She made her way back towards the area, being careful not to be in peoples' way. As more Blades began to arrive she handed out orders as quickly as she could. "You three, keep that crowd back. We don't need more to start gathering. You and you, help those others out of the smoke. Keep them from trampling each other." She only stopped briefly to scan the road beyond the crowd and see if she could catch a glimpse of the fleeing woman. "And here I thought the city was growing dull." The rest of her time was spent directing Blades and trying to keep the crowd under control till they could all safely disperse.
  12. Coatleque has taken two Sultansworn initiates (and one additional Sworn) into Halatali (HM) before under an investigation of rumors that a rogue thaumaturge was summoning a powerful voidsent to unleash against Ul'dah. Along the way they had to deal with not only his other abominations of nature, but the mercenaries he hired. It was quite fun. You can go slow, at the pace you need, and chose any party makeup you want. We were 3 PLD 1 WHM in this case. Natalie and Coatleque did the same thing for another paladin in training a few months ago, going into Haukke Manor (NM). And YATAG did something recently where a group of us went into Cutter's Cry to push back the ants and other animals that were encroaching on an Ul'dahn trade route nearby.
  13. Coatleque furrowed her brows with narrowed eyes. "The end of dissension is treason, Miss. Lest you have a separate definition of the word. Though I should have expected no less from manners of an uneducated elbst. You claim I know not the machinations of the Twelve, yet you demand that we presume you do?" She shook her head. "I'll stand here and bandy insults no longer. Wouldst that you were raging only against the Monetarists I may have been persuaded to try and stay the course of your judgement. However I shall brook no threats to the sovereignty of my liege. I pray the Twelve show you mercy as I am sure the Blades will not." With that she removed her hand from the Blade next to her, turned, and walked away.
  14. As the Blade moved forward towards the woman, the Knight's arm snapped outward and caught him by the chest to keep him back for a few moments longer. "Dog am I? Slave even? You know not whom you speak with to level such accusations. Tell me why it is so horrible to know one's place in the order of the world? You place venomous words in my mouth with one breath and malign the Twelve with the next. I wouldst think more carefully on such heresy lest someone less understanding mistake your heritage for that of our less than friendly neighbor. Of course the gods look upon us and weep at the current state of affairs. It is our responsibility to purge the corruption, not to wipe the slate entirely. Even so, if you believe the city so removed from saving, why do you remain?"
  15. The Sworn listened as she continued her almost heretical speech. Finally she could no longer remain silent. "Faithless. Treasonous. It is by the will of the Twelve that the bonds of governance were not placed into the hands of the common man. By their blessing does her Grace hold the right to rule these lands. Why temptest thou such wrath from beyond with your delusional ideals of equality?"
  16. Pff, I see one agent and his band of misfits. All are snappy dressers though. I detect a movie title. Oceans Ul'dah The Incorrigibles The Men who Stare at Lalafels
  17. Coatleque shook her head and moved over to stand next to Melodia. "Everyone has the right to speak, Miss D'janz.", she replied. "Of course they also have the right to suffer the consequences for doing so.", she added with a smirk.
  18. Feel better. Koporo and I will talk when you return.
  19. I can sympathize with Writer's Block. I have it all the time. I think in my case, though, it's more of an issue of me being easily distracted by scrolling OOC stuff.
  20. Hello and welcome. Unfortunately I'm not on Gilgamesh, but I wish you luck in making connections!
  21. A lamp? No. But I can shine the bright light of justice upon you if you ever come through Ul'dah! Welcome back.
