1. Gospel is asexual. If we went by a black and white description of his sexuality, he would be labeled as heterosexual but just because he prefers women, that does not mean he is attracted to them. It's actually rather tough to go into detail describing why he's exactly like this but for as long as he can remember, he's pretty much always been this way. If people flirt with Gospel he'll usually reply with kindhearted disinterest. However, there have been people in the past who have actively managed to pull him into brief relationships. Sadly, these flings never lasted longer than a few suns, mainly do Gospel's overall disinterest and lack of passion towards his suitor, which ultimately resulted in his few known lover's hearts to break.
2. Too bad she's from a different universe. Looks like that would certainly catch Gospel's eye. Joking aside, it's really awesome seeing your art lately. I've always been a fan of your style and I have to admit that it's really awesome seeing the changes and new touches in each new piece you create.
3. Hmm, where to begin? It's not everyday I get to talk about my characters religion. I marked him as "Other. (non-Twelve entity)" Biggest issue is because IC, Gospel over time had begun to learn about the Primals and how they drew Aether from the land to manifest into our world. Around the time of the end of Project Meteor, he began to research more and more about the Twelve and how word of mouth got out that some crazy old man had the power to call them into our world in a similar fashion to summoning the Primals. Now this made something click inside Gospel's little philosophical noggin. "If the Twelve too require Aether for sustenance, does this make them no different than the Primals and even the very creatures of our own world?" After much thought he started to piece things together a bit. All creatures; the Gods and Primals included, rely on Aether to survive. Aether as far as Gospel was aware, is the manifestation of the worlds life energy and is also what all creatures are developed of in some form, but only the highest concentrations of it form Aetheryte or Crystals. So in his mind, he feels that there has to be a source as to where all this Aether is coming from, a mother lode of sorts. So as of right now, he believes there is a giant crystal or core somewhere buried under the ground that's pumping out Aether and giving life to all the creatures in the world; Gods and Primals included. Now if he tried mentioning these thoughts to anyone, he'd be viewed as a heretic and also labeled a lunatic. So he keeps these thoughts very close to heart, and if someone were to ask which one of The Twelve that he would worship? Gospel would merely say that he would follow Thaliak because his knowledge is something he could only attempt to strive for.
4. Whoops, forgot that they did that. I went and edited the original post. Thank you for catching that, Rhostel!

6. I've always built Gospel in a way so that he would always greatly excel with magick in some form or another. He comes from a family that's always had extremely strong ties with the arcane and even rumored to have a Padjal in their bloodline at one point in time. Since birth, Gospel always had a strong affinity with black magick and arcanum and was heavily tutored by his father and numerous teachers in his early youth. As he got older he learned about conjury, goldsmithing and alchemy from his mother along from other various teachers. This opened the door to clock/dollmaking to him and is pretty much what got Gospel hooked on the whole automaton thing, thus turning him into a puppetmaster of sorts. Eventually, his knowledge in puppetmastery would begin to slightly excel over his experience with arcanum. As a side note with conjury; Gospel really only learned about the elemental and defensive aspects of it while forgoing many of the healing techniques. This was mostly done in order to further enhance his affinity with the elements. (Think of a whitemage stuck in a permanent cleric stance.) As for weapons? Though, certainly not a master with the lance. Gospel is very deadly with a staff, knowing advanced parrying and fighting techniques in order to defend himself in case an enemy closes in on his position. With the constant self-discipline and always being out in the field on his own while searching for the unknown. I'd like to say that my character has evolved into quite a frightening force to be reckoned with in terms of being a full on magick wielder. Or at least that's the vibe I've always been given from others from an OoC view. So to go down the list of what he is from strongest to weakest. Battle classes: Thaumaturge/Blackmage, Puppetmaster, Arcanist/Summoner, Conjurer/Whitemage, Scholar. DoH/L: Alchemy, Goldsmithing, Botany, Mining.
7. Hello, and welcome to the RPC!
8. Gospel is well situated within the high upper class. Being born into an already strong family, while also having both the families business and his own in dealing with automaton creation, repair, and selling. One thing that lead to his families great wealth was having almost the entire business be ran by the Mammets that were being produced. This was not only used to help save on having to pay workers, but it also served as a powerful advertising tool and to prove just how useful the machines could be. It took some time but eventually it allowed both business chains to be ran with only a handful of human workers. Their jobs mainly dealt with making sure the Mammets weren't defecting, being tour guides and also to handle some of the transactions. I also figured with ARR and the whole pet thing, his business would be as strong as ever, having a hand in the mass production of the mini Mammets that adventurers were running around with in the tour of Eorzea video. Another tribute to Gospel's wealth would be his spending habits. One could consider him to be "rich miser," only spending money on things that he felt were essential, such as: Nice house, food, clothes, hobbies and leaving it at that. So there you have it.
9. Can you name the magitek with bipedal drive, smells like a steak and seats thirty-five.. Imperial Reaper! Imperial Reaper! Well, it goes real slow with the hammer down, It's the country-fried mech endorsed with a frown! Imperial Reaper! (Yah!) Imperial Reaper! The East Aldenard Trading Comission has ruled the Imperial Reaper unsafe for tradeway or city riding. Imperial Reaper! 12 yards long, 2 lanes wide, 65 tons of Garlean Pride! Imperial Reaper! Imperial Reaper! Top of the line in utility sports, Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts! Imperial Reaper! Imperial Reaper! (Yah!) She burns everybody with her super high beams, She's a marmot crushing, doe smacking, stomping machine! Imperial Reaper!-oh woah, Imperial Reaper! (Yah!) Drive, Reaper! Woah, Reaper! Woah!
10. Alright, finally took some time to look this over and I'll try to be as clean and kind about this as possible. This history is sloppy and I don't think this will work for your character because it pushes and even breaks the lore in some regards. However, I will break down and provide why they bend or break the lore and hopefully try and guide you to a more balanced and socially acceptable character. :::Remember that this is only constructive criticism!::: -- The bad: First: The character's lineage. You state your family has Allagan blood. Even if it's a rumor, it's a poor one, even to jokingly hint at. The Allagan Empire existed long before any of the races even were known or discovered. We also do not know if the Allagans are even related to any of the current races. The only revealed Allagans to have existed in our time (The 16/17th century) has been Nael van Darnus and Allagan emperor, King Xandes. (Which was revealed as an ARR spoiler in a past dev letter by Yoshi P.) I honestly feel trying to claim having a lineage to a race, that for the most part long died out, even before any of the other races even reached Eorzea is a weak link. Second: The Second is ties to the Syndacite. The Syndacite is comprised of "six" and only six members. The current living members of the Syndicate are as follows. Chairman, Lord Lolorito of the East Aldenard Trading Company. Prince, Teledji Adeledji of the Mirage Trust. Director, Eolande of Frondale's Phrontistery. Prior, Dewlala of Milvaneth Sacrarium. Chief foreman, Fyrgeiss of Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern. Flame General, Raubahn Aldynn, ex-champion of the Coliseum. Flame General Raubahn Aldynn being the newest member of these, it's completely unknown when and how the other members got their seats. General Raubahn also has close ties to the current Sultana Nanamo Ul Namo, but the relations among the rest of the Syndicate is quite poor. Third: Another thing you should probably understand is that Ul'dah and Limsa's relationship is actually quite poor. Having a family that has ties to both is bad because the Barricudas and The Syndacite are the most powerful sects within their respective nations. If you insisted on having one though it would either be one or the other and as I stated above. Having any ties with The Syndacite just really wouldn't work. However, you could possibly get away with saying you had a member with The Barricudas at one time, but seeing as how your character has more ties with Ul'dah than Limsa. I think it would be safer to focus on Ul'dah. Fourth: Next we have that your family is listed as "A Merchant Empire" and you list all these businesses and what not that technically do not exist in the game. How do you explain this and how do you possibly expect other characters to know or even safely acknowledge that your characters family owns and operates something like that? I feel something like this would conflict especially with the most seasoned of RPers who are crafters or just adventurers who know their way around the towns. I mostly bring this up because for the most part, the market is pretty much in lock down by The Syndacite and is only becoming stronger. An example would be The Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern. This guild on its own pretty much owns the entire mining industry in Eorzea. The father has 2 sons and a daughter, with the family business being passed down to the sons and the daughter marrying a rich noble from Gridania to expand their reach in other places. The daughter specifically stating that she was going to build a museum in honor of the lost city: Sil'dih. -- Now with that venting out of the way, let's see about the good and salvageable things with your characters history. The Good: First: Most of this stems only from your characters "Lineage" and not the actual character itself. So the good is that you can still adjust your background without it effecting your main character. Second: It's still perfectly okay to have a "rich" and successful family in Ul'dah without having crazy ties to all the key figures in the game. There are still aristocratic families within Ul'dah and you can probably get away with still being a wealthy little group. You mentioned the whole tupperware business in your wiki. You could probably slip by if you focus purely on that being the key reason for your families success. It would just be a matter of finding a way to properly and safely explaining it to other people in an actual IC scenario. More people would be willing to accept your character as not being insane and will take him more seriously if you stick to just one strong source of income as opposed to having ten dozen. Seeing how your wiki is mostly just lineage stuff. This is about as much advice as I can offer. I'd really recommend revamping it to give a more focused history to help explain and solidify why your family gained success in the tupperware business. Also in terms of Lineage length, I would say that you don't need to go back so far. Just focus on the parents and grandparents and leave it at that. Sometimes less is more. If you wanted to, you could try explaining that your grandfather or great grandfather was a miner or goldsmith and eventually got the idea (Maybe from his wife?) to start designing or fashioning silverware with the wealth and yields he accumulated through mining? That way you could explain how the business was founded and could go up the family tree explaining how the recent family has served to improve and maintain the tupperware thing. And that's all I got.
11. I think it's due time for another one of these...
12. Above post edited to reflect these events. The info you gave actually filled in a pretty large gap in the time line. Thanks tons for this, Mtoto!
13. There's still quite a few gaps in my list, but here's a compilation of what we know of the past in Eorzea. I sadly am severely lacking in: Monk, City-state, Warrior, Paladin and numerous beast tribe lore. So this list is far from being anywhere considered complete. Please note that a few things in this time line are up to speculation but are noted to have happened at around the listed years by most critics. Hope it helps and if anyone has anything to add, it would greatly help in the further completion of this project. - *(YA) = Years Ago ----Eorzean Timeline---- First Umbral Era - Element: Wind Unknown Time--- The wandering tribes began to war with each other. 14. Hello and welcome to the RPC! If you have any questions about the lore or RP, don't be shy to ask!
15. Hello and many warm welcomes to the RPC. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!
16. Well, going over all these notes. I hate to say it but... Some of the things listed on it are dated and have been confirmed to be false. An example would be the sea creature in the opening cutscene for Limsa is actually just a normal sea serpent and -not- leviathan. However, there were a few interesting snippets in there that was new and refreshing. Definitely worth keeping on the side to compare notes to. Thanks a bunch for this and if you find anything more, don't be shy to post it! Every little bit helps! ^^
17. Ah, actually The Black Shroud isn't a maze anymore in ARR. It's actually quite open and easy to navigate now. Infact, here's a video to give you a glimpse of what I mean!
18. Musketeer is still under speculation at the moment and is currently not playable within the game yet. The only new class/job that has been confirmed so far is Arcanist/Summoner along with some other unannounced class that we will see in the future. Now to go off topic abit ""This pure speculation on my part"" but there is a good chance that Musketeer will be that unannounced class available at launch. Do I have any cold hard proof? No, not really... but given the puzzle pieces they've laid before us, I can take a strong guess at least. They have confirmed that in ARR your starting city will be based on your starting class so that you will start close to your classes respective guild. Example: Conjurer starts in Gridania because their guild The Stillglade Fane is there. Anyways, if you do a bit of research, you'll notice each city state has 2 battle guilds and 1 mage guild. It also is setup in a way that for "early levels" and I quote that strongly. One of the battle classes can act as a tank, the other a damage dealer and one as a mage. Gridania: Lancer= Tank, Archer= Damage Dealer, Conjurer= Mage. Ul'dah: Gladiator= Tank, Pugilist= Damage Dealer, Thaumaturge= Mage. Limsa: Marauder= Tank, Musketeer???= Damage Dealer?, Arcanist= Mage. Going by that list, all of the cities would have a proper balance of starting classes... That is if they add Musketeer to the roster... As it stands right now, Limsa is short one battle class and they already have a respective guild for the class that isn't there. So I may be just be talking nonsense (And I am to a large degree.) But I feel there is a very high chance that you'll see Musketeer at launch.
19. Actually, it is the mage model of the Succubus. I know it's abit hard to tell with the particle effects everywhere in that pic but if you look very closely at the image, you can see the hilt of the monsters weapon. It has two curved prongs on the side. Now when you look at the concept art and look at their weapons, you can see that the in-game picture has a matching weapon hilt to the mage Succubi model while the others don't. Concept image so you can compare: Also another fun snippet I noticed was that in the lalafell image, the lalafell were sitting on the chairs in the upstairs section of the Carline Canopy. This is pretty awesome because it means we'll finally be able to sit in the chairs at the Adventurers Guild or so it seems.
20. THIS IS NOT A TEST! February 8, 2013 http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/blog/post/191 Hello everyone! Fernehalwes back again. I mean, seriously. I leave Pinurabi alone for one minute, and he’s off gallivanting about, pretending to be King of the Blog. This is simply unacceptable, so to teach the bad boy a lesson, I’ve locked him up in the utility closet where we store all our overstock tonberry plushies. That should give him something to think about. Now then... Back on Tuesday, Yoshi-P had everyone on the FINAL FANTASY XIV development team participate in a half-day play test of the soon-to-be-released Beta Version. Sure, it was the perfect chance to sift through the content and find bugs or whatnot, but it was also an opportunity to take a step back and experience the game as players, and that in itself was just plain fun. In addition to watching a bunch of new quests... ...some of us partied up and tried our hands at the Full Active Time Events (FATE)... ...while some of us did runs through the new instanced dungeons... ...and then there were those of us who just spent four hours in the Adventurers’ Guild harassing that cute Lalafell in the short skirt and high boots. Good time! Fernehalwes
21. Ah, sorry. I didn't mean for it to come off like I was campaigning or anything but now that I go back and read it, I can kind of see where people would get that idea lol. So I apologize. I'm honestly fine with Merri making whichever decision he pleases and I also really don't mind who takes over, so long as they will try their best to remain neutral and follow the recent guidelines. I just felt I would share some of my ideas and remind others that the LS system will have easier management features. So if I were to run the shell again, that's probably how I would utilize some of them. ( . _.)b
22. Hi, Merri. I would be willing to take over leadership again of the Backstage/Intermission pearl. I mostly say this as one of the founders who helped lead it in the past. However, I have no intentions of acting as a leader aside from simple pearl setup; distribution; and RP shell advertising. I'm much more willing to take control again because from S/E's words, LS management will be much easier to control with systems such as LS log in messages, ability to give pearl distributor status and the ability to boot anyone, anywhere. However, I doubt that last of those will be needed seeing how well the Skype Backstage has been over these past few months. As in terms of Leadership. I intend on giving everyone pearl distributor status, this way they cannot be booted by other members but also allows everyone to invite their RP friends and what-not. Hopefully if LS management has a system similar to free companies with leadership. I would nominate, Kylin as Big Boss but only in the sense of giving him guranteed "Middle Man" status. This would allow the shell to continue to run as normal and let the members decide what they want to do. After they decide who wants to step up, Kylin can come in and just give the status back to whoever is next in line and go back into the shadows. I only bring Kylin up because he is the RPCs head management, so he would be a neutral influence. An example would be: Gospel is Big Boss of Backstage but for whatever reason he gets bored and quits FFXIV. After a set amount of days, the Big Boss status would bump down to Kylin. Now Kylin wouldn't have to lead the shell at all. He just runs the RPC so he's a reliable person in terms of being online. The members of Backstage however will be responsible for deciding who they want to have Big Boss status. Once they decide on someone, Kylin logs on and gives that status to whoever. (This is all going on assumption that LSes will have this feature.) That's pretty much how I would run things. However, I would like to make it perfectly clear that "Big Boss" status is not a gift, it's not a title and does not give you anymore right than any of the other members. You are and will be everyones equal. I'm only stepping up for this because I've ran the shell in the past and I'm mostly online 24/7 I really have no intentions of settling disputes in the shell, as I feel most people are adults and should be able to handle things like that themselves. Anyways, that's my offer, not just to Merri but to everyone of Backstage.
23. I see~ Always good to play it safe rather than jump the gun, I suppose. Either way, I hope the Beta lives up to your expectations and more! ( . _.)b
