So, being the unrelenting GFX addict that I am, I decided to give drawings another shot with the mouse, this time, using a different program called SAI. Mind = Fuckin' Blown. I love this new program

I do have the income, but i'm a penny pincher and really watch to not spend money on anything I don't really require. (Basically, a Tablet isn't 'that' high on my priority list) Either way, thanks. Though you're giving me a bit 'too' much credit, I used ingame screenshot as reference pictures when making those drawings. Which makes the whole thing less of a feat, obviously as for RLC sigs/banners. I considered it, but quite frankly I'd rather refine what I can do until it is at a point where I can charge money for it with a clear conscience. As it is now, I'd feel as if skewing people out of their hard earned cash to take money for these drawings, as they're far from what I consider 'Worthy of payment'

@ Tiergran ; Thanks @ Edgar; I take a roundabout 30k fee minimum for a signature and avatar set, May vary if the request is more specific / detailed. Ofcourse, you're free to up the fee if you end up enjoying the result alot ;p Drawing Commissions are for now out until I can get my hands on a Tablet. Drawing with a Mouse is too time consuming and doesn't yield the results I'd like.

What would you do if you got stuck in Final Fantasy?
Gaspard replied to Vashies Rosada's topic in RP Discussion
Hm. Create a Lalafell football league. As in, use the Lalafells as a football league. And I'd open a Brothel in Ul'dah. Then ofcourse comes immortality/becoming a God of War by fucking over the twelve. Yeah, my goals are modest -
Oh. My. Mind blown. This makes stuff far better.

How'd you get your windows like that?

Norse Mythology. Wodan and Odin. As for the lore bit, I'd have to say I'm Pro-Lore, anti breaking it. The reasons are pretty much the same as Fayes. In any type of Roleplay community, no matter how you shape it, there has to be congruence between Your character, and all the characters you play with. As in; Absolutely everything must be the same for all characters in terms of laws of physics / the world setting / and so on, otherwise you create story paradoxes that destroy immersion with the snap of the finger. HOWEVER. (and this is the big flipside of it) Adhering to Lore does 'not' mean you're usually limited, or forced to play an average joe. For Example, a white mage is nothing else then a Glorified Healer in certain aspects (but i'm not too clear on WHM lore, so sue me). If it is said glorification you seek (no matter whether it's publicly advertised as some type of wunderkind phenomena) or just a detail you'd like to have for yourself, You can always find ways to achieve that by avoiding the label 'WHM'. You could simply go with something along the lines that your character has received a direct blessing from Nophica upon birth, making anything related to healing ar Conjury her second nature. In the end, WHM is nothing but an elitary title to describe a handful of conjurers with a special aptitude/heritage. To create something alike, or that functions similarly, without touching the WHM powerderkeg is quite easy. It just takes a bit of clever shifting to achieve what you look for. -

balmung Looking to embark on a dark plot line

First off, a general apology to all those who may've wanted to contact me recently and/or have/had. I've been unable to be Online for any extended periods of time Due to real life kicking in a way I didn't expect, which made me drop XIV momentarily altogether. Right now however I'm probably back on track to be online atleast for a few hours a week, considering I refreshed my sub for another half year or so. Again, Apologies to all that may've felt excited over this and felt dropped like a hot potato afterwards. If anyone wants to get in contact, feel free to pm me on these forums and/or contact me via Skype. -
I'd be interested, but i'd like to bump it to 18 if we could, or atleast around end 17. I'm not to keen on playing 16 and below. Other then that, I wouldn't mind starting fresh and crafting some nice history around it, since I'm pretty flexible in regards to character creation.

*looks at the slip she forgot* uhm. ohwell. *pins it at the announcement board* yupp, still active.

I personally draw my influence for my characters from my favorite pieces of fiction mostly. Gaspard being in the vein of the Sherlock/Hannibal degree of sociopathy. Well functioning with pitfalls he wouldn't bat an eyelash about. When it comes to myself, I find sometimes bits and pieces of myself in my characters, which inevitably come through (Such as my general flare for Anti-hero/Antagonist stories), but other then that, I do not draw from my own life. On one side, it will create a very distinct character, because you can't 'get more real' then playing yourself in a virtual reality, on the other hand, it also invites that nasty parallel of my emotions = my characters emotions. That being said, yeah. It's mostly dark, nasty fiction for me that inspires/used to inspire me. And good Videogame Antagonists.

This is not mean to derail but... just because lore says that Keepers are Matriarchal does not mean that Seekers are Patriarchal. Oh, right. I forgot that detail. Nunh status was only related to breeding rights right?

I can't help but find that last paragraph a rather.. oversimplified view of both Miqo'te cultures' workings, but I agree with everything else. Certainly with gender equality being the 'norm' in most of Eorzea. Even Ishgard has its share of female knights serving in the ranks, judging from NPC representation. It is definitely over-simplified, And I am quite sure there are exceptions to it. However, with Keepers aswell as Seekers, both Patriarchy/Matriarchy seem to be ingrained Tribe properties, and are far more instinctual (and evolutionary) then anything else. My personal theory is that tribe-born Miqo'te for one are more tribal by nature (If raised in a tribe), and that also their sexual instincts do require those dynamics in order for them to be..well, willing to mate. Ofcourse played characters often do represent a large exception to Eorzeas actual citizens.

I usually don't think about it too much. I think Gender equality was pretty much established in the game the moment they've made every single leader of the three main cities a female. In regards to us, that'd be like America, Russia and Korea all having Female Presidents/Leaders. So I'd say that Eorzea has no true Gender Roles (Given that females occupy so many vast and different roles, in a way, just as various as the ones that males do), and you can find both sexes in each type of job, faction and the likes. It's probably a matter of choice for many whether they adhere to old values of Chivalry (and likewise the females of their nurturing responsibility towards men and children), or whether they adopt more divergent philosophies. The only ones that come loaded with a good degree of Gender Roles and Gender Inequality would be both Miqo'te sects. Seekers run a straight Patriarchy, where 'Big Daddy' Aka the Nunh has all the say and the rest is there to serve him/serve the pack, and likewise Keepers run a straight matriarchy, where you may very well consider it an Amazon like society, with men serving as little more then the walking child dispensers, and perhaps boys to be emotionally pampered by mommy, never burdened with the responsibility to become leaders as it's not in their nature. But beyond those two, I can hardly see any Gender Roles and/or differences being present in Eorzea, except for what singular Characters might consider their own opinion on it.

This one's missing a Highlander Protein joke right there.

It really depends on the person I am playing with. I've used to go with a very story-driven narrative most times, where players really knew where each of their characters stood in terms of intelligence, raw power, probability of winning against another, etc. You could say we knew beforehand how a fight would look, and what the probability of a win/loss was. Moreso, we tended to only let those fights ensue if there was some valid, story rich return for it (We tended to thrown at the common assassin x120912 who just randomly showed up to 'kill someone', same for mass murderers etc). That requires however people that are all on the same page, so most times that is only possible in a RP circle that stayed with eachother for an extended period of time. Nonethenless, most times we went with a Text, turn-based system to play out fights, omitting rolls and the likes for their degree of chance involved (Dice rolling imho only works if you go spreadsheet aswell, since that atleast puts chance together with a set of variables in favor/against your favor depending what your character is good/bad at) Simple chance rolling without taking character specific traits into account tends to be too much of a wild-card for me to 'realistically' simulate a bout between two characters. Many fights however often take place outside eachothers comfort group, and are initiated under 'emotionally loaded' circumstance. Especially if it is two players that do not know eachother well yet, no matter how good they are, you'll have a hard time convincing one another that character A or B should have a higher chance of winning (Even if it is that way realistically). You also have to factor in World-Realism. For example, many people believe, because their character has invested alot of time into sword-play, that their character can be at equal grounds with a mighty Thaumaturge. I'll play devils advocate here and simply say: It isn't so. There's a margin where intelligence and strategy has a foot-hold, but swinging a piece of metal will never out-weigh the ability to conjure up walls of fire or ice. Nonethenless, the Idea that their character might, infact, be inferior when it comes to fighting will unsettle many characters, and thus they will deny, even if the Roleplay environment would dictate otherwise. So usually, you find yourself at an argument about 'Roleplay balance' against 'Roleplay Realism'. The former demands that, no matter the difference between two characters, they always stand nigh-equal chance of winning, the latter dictates that the one who, ICly has the better skills/better strategy-intelligence will win. At last, there's even one more issue. When you enter a RP fight, you have no viable way to check if the character you fight against has actually any limits at all. Given roleplay on MMO's is not approval based (Meaning you don't have an admin to turn to, or a forum to see what kind of abilities a character is approved for), you end up having to trust the other person. Sometimes, that leads to people quite literally pulling random abilities out of their butt because 'lolmage', In order to get the upper hand, even if they sacrifice their characters integrity through it. You have no way to ascertain if he truly did invest time to achieve his abilities, or if he pulled them out of his rear, and likewise, neither does he in regards to you (unless you went the route and meticulously explained all the abilities your character has [including skills] and their limitations). That, in the end, puts me personally at the conclusion that the safest route to go with is to try and find a common ground before the fight starts (As in, pre-determination of the outcome), reserving actual Text-RP fights to people whom you truly trust, and where you know said characters abilities and limitations. Rolling Dices only favors chance, never roleplay realism.
