balmung Looking to embark on a dark plot line
Gaspard replied to Gaspard's topic in Chronicled Connections
Alright, the support and interest is greatly appreciated. I'll try to contact everyone bit by bit and see how we can get things going. For now, I've made a Linkshell as I think that'll be the fastest way of communication (Given we all have the game,) Otherwise, I can be contacted under my previously mentioned Skype/Xfire detail: Dantedgx. If you want in on the Linkshell, PM me ingame, Handle is ofcourse Gaspard Howlett -

I've briefed Berrod on a part of my ideas already, since we have so many interested, i'd suggest we all try to get in contact on a group convo in skype, or do it ingame via a Linkshell to organize. EDIT: I'll be back online within the next 3 1/2 hours, currently at work so I can at most use the forums sparingly at times until then -
balmung Looking to embark on a dark plot line

I'm well aware of that, which is why I would try to keep it very low key for the beginning. Finesse and Subterfuge over flamboyance, ofcourse. -
I've send you a message via Ingame Mail, I was somewhat busy the last time you tried to contact me. We can otherwise PM here, I'm pretty active on the forums as it is.

Sounds great, got any form of instant messenger? I personally use Xfire and Skype under: Dantedgx -
Heyo! Anyway, I guess I should elaborate. I'm a big fan of the darker, somewhat evil type of storylines, mostly because I tend to gravitate to such things in fiction. (May that be Villains of all types, or Anti-heroes. You name it, I probably do enjoy it). From Hannibal Lecter onto the likes of the Joker, or more classic in the form of Evil sorcerer archetypes, or the more revenge driven tales that embark your characters on a journey to find out the pitfalls of their own self, as seen in various movies. Now, given that, I'm looking for like-minded individuals willing to brainstorm on a few possible ideas and the likes. So far, I could see my character in various scenarios to get things rolling in the right direction, but nothing i'd like to set in stone to let others toss in their ideas first. An example would be something along the lines of the Master/Student relation one can see in Star wars for Sith and the likes. I play on both European and NA timezones, as my work shifts tend to keep me inbetween both at times.

First Commision finished!

Well, you can. Just 10K for a sig, aslong you provide a good screenshot of your character. specific wishes regarding looks/details on the sig will cost you extra, but no more then 15-20 K together.

painting techniques, Using only your mouse for line-art (Do not have the cash to dish out for a drawing tablet), so on so fourth. All for photoshop ofcourse

Thanks for the compliment. I'm afraid I'll have to learn to do more clear line-art however, as it's generally better if you want to give it a digital painting later on. Also, Tiergan, you got any good tutorials at hand?

The ingame cutscenes provide the best stuff for character screenshot imho

Samurai Champloo was a 'tad' too off for me. The blend between hip hop and Samurai culture didn't really work for me. Basilisk was awesome, Agreed. Though alot on the depressing side.

Ho boy. I literally grew up on Japanese Anime/Manga, save for a handful of other things. Nowadays however I feel like im deviating away from it because..I don't know, I get the feeling authors in Japan ran out of ideas and nowadays it's more about baiting people with 'cute loli art', rather then a captivating story or something innovative. Most of it nowadays is rehashed too, playing into some type of basic trope already established by other animes, just way better. That's why I had such high hopes for Shingeki no Kyojin (Aka Attack on Titan), but towards the end of season 2 it just turned into the same type of off-the-mill formulaic anime. My personal favorites would have to be: Cowboy Bebop (Including the Movie): Bang, nuff said. Neon Genesis Evangelion: One of the 'few' Anime that had a protagonist that did not turn into a cookie-cutter hero, but instead remained the conflicted, broken little teenager. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: While it's pretty straightforward and also on the Shonen formula, it had a great art style, a gripping story and most importantly, wasn't as predictable as it seemed. Keeps closely to the Manga as opposed to the original Anime, which is a good thing. Ghost in the Shell(Movie and series): No brainer. Features a strong-female protagonist and an epic sci-fi setting. Hellsing Ultimate: While Alucard is just a 'tad' too much on the Mary Sue/Gary Stu overpowered level, It still features an amazing story, and went full blown nazi, which is rare. Monster: Because it features one of my favorite baddies ever Durara!(rararaa.ra.ar.ar..ra..ra....raaaa..): original, funny, lighthearted and yet had it's touching moments. Shizuo and Izaya where comedy gold. Darker then black (FIRST SEASON): Because the first was awesome and the second just sold too hard into that Loli trope I so absolutely loathe. Code Geass: While it didn't do anything original, it managed to borrow nearly everything good, mix it together, and put it on steroids. It was over the top, and yet still managed to remain believable under the terms of it's own fiction. Besides, It featured one of the most cold-hearted, sadistic twats as protagonists, which was somewhat of a nice, fresh change compared to your off the mill goody-two shoes. Also: BURITAAAAANIAAAAA I could go on and on, but I'd probably end up writing half a novel just to list them all

Duskwight / Highlander, or Duskwight / Midlander. Perfect blend for evil characters.

Gave it a try, seems to work well

While I generally agree, I think that's a bit 'too' generalized. If your character is goal oriented, and you as a player are partially competitive, you 'will' have a congruence between OOC desire to succeed/win/progress, and your characters personal drive to succeed/win/progress. The difference therein lies whether you consider roleplaying a 'game', or a sort of interactive novel writing which makes all the difference. I've seen people opt for both routes. Some Consider Roleplay like an elaborate, more immersive RPG game, others consider it an actual effort in writing/creating a history, omitting any form of mechanics whatsoever (Game/Dice/etc,) Opting for pure storywriting. So in essence, IC/OOC seperation to hundred percent is nigh impossible unless you don't give a single thing about your character or what happens to him, and we all know that is never the case (Just see how many people are willing to have their character die, or suffer severe injury, and you have a pretty decent display on the level of attachment people share with their creations) Moreso, I often like to compare Roleplaying to Acting aswell. Given you're actively presenting a different character, you're essentially acting imaginatively through text. And that's where you get camp standard actor, who simply acts without feeling/experiencing, and then you get camp method actor, who has a need to immerse himself for that moment in his characters mindset, emotional world, etc. At last, I'd like to make a mention of a point a handful of us may be omitting. Age. Many roleplayers start young, at the age of 12-13, and for them it's just about experiencing that sandbox feeling of 'YAY IM A FUCKING DRAGOON, AWESOME!'. It's often about heroism, being the center stage of your own story, so on so forth. It's an empowering experience the first few times you do it, the first few times you get to be 'the hero' in something. Either way, i'm rambling at this point. I generally agree with what you wrote, just that strict OOC/IC seperation would go with strict lack of attachment.

Got a point there. I'll give it a try sometime soon

Remember, you asked for this; -
Resolution is around screenshot size, (That being 1280x1024) I don't re-size it because I want to keep improving my lineart, not to fake it .

For Romance RP you require to individuals that are one hundred percent capable of seperating IC from OOC. And that is rarely found at most times. The Problem with Relationship RP's in any form is the Human component. As you 'emulate' your characters love to a person, depending how deep you submerse yourself in your 'role', the more you may actually 'feel' something, even on an artificial level. Some people tend to let the RP influence too strongly, thus creating a vicious feedback cycle where their Real life emotions take charge over their IC habits. I've seen it happen various times to friends of mine, Who have a hard time seperating their emotional inner workings from the fictional RP world. They even get a genuine flight or fight response when in danger Icly. (Which is why I sometimes wondered if Roleplaying isn't perhaps detrimental when it comes to self-confidence for some). If a fictional game can opt such strong emotions from some, I dread some peoples IRL reactions to stress. That being said, your stalker could be either someone with a heavy set of issues, having a hard time seperating his emotional self from the fictional character he's created, trying to compensate for a lack of comfort in his/her own life, Or you may be simply dealing with some Troll who takes pleasure in unsettling other people through constant harassment. I've seen that happen too. People bored with roleplay who somehow get kick out of it to pretend being naive roleplayers stalking people and/or instigating other issues. Either way, your safest bet is to reject them politely, tell them that you think cutting off contact entirely will be more healthy for that person aswell as you, and then stick to the ignoring policy you set up. It'll set a boundary, protect you, and at the same time teach said person that his current behavior will not give him/her the desired result.

...Twerking for Education. Ironic what lengths some of us have to go through simply to capitalize on our god-given talents. Then again I bet the money was quite good. EDIT: Also, I find it interesting just how many of us end up infatuated with Psychology. I think I've met atleast 6-7 roleplayers by now that Are, or wanted to become Psychologists.

Oh and, not really a quote either but: Swap the second D for a C in Moraby Drydocks and you've got yourself a boyband.
