  1. Rappies seem to make the most amount of sense, but I wouldn't say no to any of the iconic weapons from PSO either. Ideally, I'd want Section ID related decoration for housing. I think a nice Skyly ID on the mantle would go much better than everyone's favorite dead guy.
  2. rip my chances- didn't notice this in time. still nice work as usual
  3. Just fucking RP an WHM, no one is gonna attack you over it and anyone that does is a massive dickface and you don't want to spend time with them anyway. Seriously, you'll be fine. Just consider what brings you more enjoyable RP above all else without harming other people's shit and you'll spend far less time stressing about it.
  4. Keeping an eye on this. That Au Ra is pretty impressive, as is the other works.
  5. I don't have anything particularly clever to go along with this one. Everyone in this frame seems to have different ideas about what's going on, and there's the character I play... being himself.
  6. I stepped out of my coffin long enough to show my surprise too. I was just looking at http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Parivir and wondered if we won't get 'traditional' Samurai and get the mix, like these fellows sort of are. That's pretty cool. I'd really love to see that Dancers are a TP based healer. I'm mostly inclined to agree with what Sounsyy on this. Or at least that what I would like it to be.
  7. I'm guessing that tank damage will pale in comparison to what future geared DPS will dish out. To me, it's short sighted to get star-eyed over a few crits right out the front door from a skill that won't always have a place to be used in 'higher tier' settings. Right now, we're doing leveling and early content and it could also be that a 'huge' burst attack like that might be needed. I know I certainly welcomed it during the Bismark fight and during special add phases. It's discouraging for gearing dps to see those numbers flying off the mob that isn't their own. But be mindful that it's also helping for the time being. Don't worry, it should catch up later. If not, it'll get balanced accordingly. Eventually.
  8. Put me down for Ugund, please. Arkvachir Ugund. Incidentally, if anyone is seeking a shaman/witch doctor, let me know.
  9. For myself, it's just more game. I have only been really playing this since Jan. While I've had one eye on this site and the other on the general updates but not really participating until recently has been an absolute thrill for me. I'm quite excited specifically for Au Ra. I hope that I'm able to bring something to the table that is both enjoyable for the people I rp with AND myself. I may have even successfully left my own trope of being the 'bad guy'. But that's hardly to do with the game. I want to play a huge monster man with horns and wear more pretty armor and get hit in the face. The leap that DRK has, it's damn near sexual lust for me. I want that skill so badly. I can't wait to use it. Another tank class, a ranged DPS concept that I truly enjoy. More skills, more lore! In particular, the dungeon content interests me. I almost wish I could have an endless supply of dungeons and story to chew through sometimes. I like doing questlines up until a big finish. The time invested is a real rush for me. I'm so pleased with how this game handles group content. I find it very engaging. And surprisingly, the idea of new players on this game pleases me the most. More people should really come to try this title out and this is a perfect time to join in on the hype train. Will it last? Will the stops be worthwhile? At this rate, it seems dangerous to consider anything else. But at least I'll be a cool horned dood that breaks shit for a little with friends. I couldn't ask for more.
  10. Sure. Pick a time and a venue. PM's. Right the fuck here and now. In game. Whatever. Jokes on you, we're literally talking in LS already.
  11. Now I'm curious! Let's have a discussion about things and stuff.
  12. Eh, I'm not broken up about Fantasia in the slightest. In fact, it makes me happy to have an answer to refer to.
  13. Being mindful of your damage mitigation is just as important as keeping threat. It means very little if you're a dead tank because you can't be bothered to keep rotating your cooldowns accordingly. Not to mention mob placement, general avoidance and raid awareness. It's not as simple as spamming flash, at least not in this game. You should also be doing your best to contribute to overall damage. We could argue that tank damage doesn't matter, but it does. I tend to treat tanking as a weaker DPS that can stand in cleave zones. No more important than the next job, but perhaps a fair amount sturdier.
  14. Good thread, OP. I'm guilty of creating characters on a whim, with little to no plan to keep them and over the course of random RP after the initial pitch- developing their backstories on the fly. I feel as though I have a grasp on what's immediately important to their creation and what people will ask and sort of wait to see what people will actually care about. From there, I'll go back and create wikis or write small segments to further their development. I find a lot of joy in watching things come to shape. I think it's a much more rewarding because I get to discover the character with my partners, even if they aren't aware. Crazy person warning: I'm quite capable of making long backstories and do it when needed, but most of the time a solid framework and mannerisms are all that's needed. Besides what I've mentioned, the primary reason is because MMO lore is a bitch to work with. You only discover things much later, from sources of material that aren't immediately available to you. Items that aren't released or quests that people don't have uploaded on wikis or what have you. I'm not against people crafting larger basis for their characters, but I wonder if they have as much fun as I feel I sometimes do when I get to 'watch my own characters tell their tales.' If that makes any sense. For me, this is part of the drive of RP. It's discovery. I still count on others to provide me with stories and answers and I do my best to do the same- I just may not immediately know. Sure, certain events are part of their development, but I couldn't tell you every detail. Obviously this does not count for all of my characters, but a fair amount of them follow this rule. Or maybe I just lack the ability to dedicate the time to think of this stuff properly. Or I just like to fuck with people.
  15. Xaela will likely have shorter lifespans due to lifestyle choices I'm guessing. Raen however might fare a lot better. I can't imagine either living much longer than the other races.
  16. Ah okay yeah, that is fine then. Not that it was ever up to me to begin with- I just really wondered. It was pretty shortsighted to be bothered at all I guess.
  17. I'm trying to think of a good reason why that might be the case. I suppose that makes me ungrateful and even rude to ask- since I will be getting the info eventually. I just wonder how something is already in the lore for a game that's already made isn't being shared with us other than spoilers. BUT! that's me assuming too much. I really don't know the details and can't expect to understand it because I'm not in the position to.
  18. I had already planned on using the Bomb-Cart from the beast dailies. I went through the effort of unlocking it in the first place, I'll find a way to make it work ICly. I don't see a problem with most of the mounts in ICly in general, obvious exceptions to some of them. Not everyone should be restricted to birds!
  19. Recently, a close friend of mine has rerolled her character about... three times now? You'd think this would raise some sort of alarm. It could scream that they lack dedication or drive and commitment. Seeing it first hand, I can strongly disagree. A lot of different factors came into play. Luckily none of them drama related! It's very possible to craft something that you are just flat out unhappy with. She made a lot of effort to flesh out the characters, tried different things and goals and eventually came to a brick wall. Long periods of RP were really great for her, but others fell really short. As I understand it, they kept it to themselves for a long time. Thinking that they were just being hasty and ended up retconning quite a few events. I myself, didn't take a lot of issue with this. Fortunately, our friends didn't seem to mind either. It was some mild trouble here and there, but it wasn't a lost cause. My point is, I don't believe that you have to completely sacrifice your own happiness to force something that you might not like as much as you intended. Life is far too short as they say, and your virtual pretendyman shouldn't be a brick in your birthday cake. Sometimes, the best characters come from a little personal hiccup. Most of mine have, at least ones I've enjoyed. Ones that grow become really great with time!
  20. Something to keep in mind for 'bad guy' RP is that generally just means you have an opposite view of who else you are RPing and may or may not be trying to intentionally be conflicting. I don't believe it to be a good idea to outright claim to be an antagonist without a goal and gameplan for what's to come. I also have a bias to vagueness and subtlety. Having RP'd villains for quite some time, it's easier to just observe people. Yes, you have to creep a little. Reading character sheets, study their habits in character and sometimes if you really want to fuck with someone roll and alt and just throw things out to gauge reactions.. Get into peoples heads. Ask questions if you can, find out their fears and prey on them. From there, you can tailor a character for specific intents and see where YOUR RP fits in with theirs. Do you simply just want to be a dick? Are you trying to help their character grow? Or just yourself? I've said it to friends many times before, but sometimes my villain characters came to be simply by disagreeing with someone. They made me into an enemy without a lot of effort on my part and everything fell into place. Other times I communicate to them OOCly and as how they would feel about having something like, a rival or if they would like to help me for my RP. Most of the time from what I've observed- RP is a self serving practice. It's rarer to come across people who want to really entertain others and not just themselves. You'll tend to have much richer and engaging experiences from people who want to work off each other than say your average white knight that needs a reason for his nightly erp. If you are content with just being a 'bad guy' then settle for old tropes and be mostly prepared to be forgotten shortly after you start. If you want to really be known as 'that one dood who kinda made me the badass i am today, but not before he wrecked my shit' then you'll have to work for it. Just as well, you should grow just as much as they have if it turns out right. Simple repetition is okay. Pick habits, but focus on motivations and tactics. Set goals for yourself and try to reach them. Prepare to deviate as needed but always seek to reach them eventually. Also, it helps if you aren't actually a dickbag. Don't be mean simply to do it. This is for entertainment for all parties and should be enjoyable. It's a shared form of media. It's art, respect it and you'll always do well.
