Ryoko sees the parchment hanging on the wall and gives it a good, long glance. Having no idea how to read even half of it, she grabs a passing lalafell, lifts him up, and presses him against the board. He immediately begins kicking and thrashing. "Unhand me, you ruffian!" "What does this say?! Read it!" "You can't simply abduct me like this! I have rights!" Ryoko begins shaking the lalafell, upset by how inconsiderate he's being. "Stop being so mean! I wanna know what it says!" "Well I can't rightly read it when you're shaking me! It's... it's something about a tailor, I don't... HELP! HELP! Somebody get the Yellowjackets! I'm being assaulted!" Ryoko becomes frustrated with the lalafell. She drops him and grabs the paper, then hops away toward the Drowning Wench. She's pretty sure Baderon knows how to read.

This looks really cool, but I need to attempt to read it again when it's not 5am :sleepy: Aaaaand bookmarked.
-
Ryoko's only exposure to religion so far has been the months that she was tutored under an Ishgardian priest. So she devotes her faith entirely to Halone.
-
What's frustrating about it, for me, is that much of this information exists in-game, scattered throughout various texts and dialogues. I expected some folks would be dedicated enough to compile all of this, but I was wrong. Shame we don't have a group like the WoWWiki team in FFXIV...
-
I'm trying to find out more about Halone and Ishgard, but frankly the amount of lore on all the major wikis is terrible. Anyone know where to find something more in-depth?
-
I'm hoping this is still going strong. I've been looking for some Limsa-oriented groups.
-
I doubt the lore explicitly supports or denies it, but if I ever bring in my RP character from Guild Wars, he's going to remain a heavy opium user. Also a gambler and an alcoholic, but both of those things are well established in Final Fantasy.
-
Limsa, on the other hand, does have it's own Foreign Legion, and would gladly accept them.
-
We have so much to discuss. "Who is your favorite band, and why is it Blind Guardian?"

I don't think it would be successful, but it could very well destroy Gridania, as well. When the Shroud is in the Greenwrath, it isn't picky about what it's killing. If the Great One in Everschade were to waken, for instance, the White Mage questline seems to indicate that he could level most of the Shroud. And that he wouldn't really care who he killed in the process. It's possible that a sabotage mission could cause the shroud to self-destruct, but at that point there's no gain to anyone. Better to let them live their lives isolated in their silly little forest than to kill them simply out of spite.

Ryoko's personality is hard for me to fit a song to, mostly because I'm a metal-head to the core and Ryoko's not a very metal character. Still, I think I have one which fits her life fairly well. IN2S_OiPAlY Lyrics here on the off-chance you're interested. The idea here being that Ryoko is, at this point, still very innocent and care-free. She's under the impression that she's setting out into a bright tomorrow. What she'll quickly find out, though, is that she's been sheltered her whole life from a world which is locked in a bitter war, consumed by chaos, and on the brink of destruction. It's probably only a matter of time before that sweet, young girl from the woods loses her innocence. On a side note, whenever I'm building a character for anything, I make heavy use of this soundtrack. F505EWB8DPA I love it because aside from being some of the finest 8-bit music ever composed, it also contains a song for every human emotion imaginable.

With the elementals watching over Gridania, I have no clue how one would stage a successful invasion of the Shroud. However, Limsa is in a position to completely devastate Ul'dah. Much of their trade does come from overseas (keep in mind that Eorzea isn't the entire world, and the only thing left to the East is the Empire). Frankly, the Maelstrom wouldn't even be required to put boots on the ground, assuming the goal was to destroy rather than capture. All that would be needed is to set up a naval blockade, then tell the privateers that Ul'dahn settlements are fair game. Then sit back and watch as port after port burns to the ground. Sure, the Ul'dahn army would slaughter wave after wave of pirates. But that sort of wealth is too great to pass up, and eventually they would succumb to the sheer number of crews from around the globe looking to grab a piece of that sweet desert gold. Not to mention that Limsans are experts in powder weapons. Ancient weapons and hokey religions are no match for a good musket.

Multiclassing IC or: How I Avoided Becoming God
Marisa replied to ZindelloTarantella's topic in RP Discussion
Powerful characters are, in my mind, about as fun to play as a bucket of water. Adversity is the core of a good story, and mankind's strength comes from our unity and bravery. Being a 'prodigy' lessens your need for other people, which is bad. I take it to the other extreme. My characters always start off terrible at almost everything. Sometimes they gradually get better. Sometimes they don't. Ryoko knows about 3 spells, and she's powerful enough to kill the frogs in Lower La Noscea. Her treasure hunting has, thus far, netted her 50 gil. My last RP character, in GW2, was a terrible swordsman and an opium addict who never had any money because he couldn't gamble to save his life but he'd never say no to a round of cards. So yeah, you've got every class at 50. Ignore some of them. That's how I do it, anyway. -
Personal Profile Character Name: Ryoko Stormsong Gender: Female Race: Miqo'te Domestic Profile Civil Status: Citizen Place of Residence: Homestead in Outer La Noscea Occupation: Aspiring Treasure Hunter Free Company: None at Present Social Profile Ryoko's father, a Lominsan Marine by the name of Barrett Stormsong, was recently called to return to duty by the Maelstrom. He'd instructed Ryoko to wait for his return, but he'd raised her far too adventurous and patriotic to obey such a command. Mere weeks after his departure, Ryoko committed herself to traveling to Limsa and joining the war effort. Upon arriving in Limsa Lominsa, Ryoko was informed that, at 14 years, she was too young for military service. Not to be deterred from an adventure, Ryoko became interested in the tales told by patrons of the Drowning Wench, and decided that she would become a treasure hunter. At present, Ryoko is making her way around La Noscea, learning all she can about her new profession. Meta Profile At the moment, I spend all of my RP time in Limsa and surrounding areas. I'm only ever in-character when I'm at Ryoko's in-character location, which will likely be La Noscea for quite some time. Ryoko is a very low-profile character, in that she's not involved in epic quests to save the world, or anything of that sort. She's almost like a background character, so expect her to get excited at things you probably find routine. My typical RP style is to wander around and listen in on people's conversations, sometimes interjecting if I feel it's appropriate. Anyone can feel free to approach me at any time. Ryoko isn't 100% up to speed on how treasure hunting works yet, so she's going to ask you if you know where to find any. My RP style is pretty simple. I use normal, non-narrated speech in /s, and I make heavy use of the in-game emotes. Ryoko is simple but very energetic, and I feel like this is the best way to match that.

Hurray! More friends for Ryoko!

Wow, that's pretty impressive to keep a campaign going for 3 years! I've never managed to hold a group together for more than a couple months >.> I'm told DMs are rather sought after here, so you should definitely get involved in the event planning board!

Hello! If you're wanting to roleplay, you should consider coming to Balmung! Or Gilgamesh, if you prefer. Balmung being the legacy server, Gilgamesh being the new one. I don't know how many people roleplay in voice chat, but I've heard it's a thing!
-
Hello! If you're willing to put in the extra cash, it might not be a bad idea to level to 50 on your current server and then transfer over. Making a character on Gilgamesh or Balmung (especially Balmung) requires you to be on at odd hours, usually around 6-7am EST on a weekday. Took me two mornings for Balmung to finally open, you just gotta be patient. Either way, best of luck to you!
-
Welcome back! A lot's changed, so I'll bet getting back into the game is going to be quite the experience!
-
I don't have anything to ride I like to jump everywhere! Sometimes people don't understand why, but I think it's fun!
-
She'd be Wendee Lee, simply because literally every female character ever is Wendee Lee. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendee_Lee I don't have a specific voice in mind, I'm just sure she'd do it.

My new friends!

Rp everywhere on Balmung! A little overwhelmed; Helps?
Marisa replied to WillOwisp's topic in RP Discussion
Isn't it great? I just spend over 2 hours listening to these two crazy little lalafells tell stories. They were outlandish as hell and obviously exaggerated or outright lies (these guys were extremely good roleplayers, so I doubt they were actually trying to mary sue their characters) but Ryoko is really young and naive so she believed every word of it. I just server-transferred from Siren earlier and already feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of it! -
Your Character's Weapons/Artifacts and How They Acquired Them
Marisa replied to Dat Oni's topic in Character Workshop
Dogberry is a gentleman with excellent taste in weaponry. I've got a billhook on the other side of the room that I made myself (well, the blade was bought but the shaft came from an old ironwood tree I cut down) because, why would anyone not want one of their own? Can't say why but I've loved billhooks since the first time I saw one. Ryoko, on the other hand, has a spear and a staff. The spear is an older model of the general issue Maelstrom Marine spear. Ryoko "borrowed" it from her dad. The staff she got from a priest who tutored her for a few months. It has this crazy bright glow to it. She has no idea why. Probably some Ishgardian silliness. She's not super talented with magic though, so she ends up just hitting stuff with it more often than not.
