  1. Oh Sasha is just wonderful, isn't she? I've actually known her since we were back on Siren, we healed a very short-lived static together. So anyway, a big thank you to all of my new friends in the Quicksand, including Aya and a whole bunch of names I can't remember how to spell. Especially Tenha'a (who I just logged back in to spell-check), for introducing me. I have trouble approaching new people, and tonight would have been much less fun if you hadn't walked over and grabbed me. Also to Tallera, who was really uncomfortable around me and who I'm starting to suspect is a heretic! OOC of course
  2. I love it when non-RPers start RPing with me just for lolz. Fun story: Even though I haven't done progression raiding since I quit WoW, I'm currently in a hardcore raiding FC on Balmung. Didn't even apply, and I certainly don't raid with them. Basically I just showed up at their house one day and didn't leave. After about a week of playing with their furniture (it's a really tastefully decorated house!) and trying to RP with the members, one of them invited me to the FC. To this day I've never once been OOC in FC chat. None of them roleplay, but they all treat Ryoko like a real person. They even went as far as to make me a kitchen so I can make everyone dinner! They're the best. Of course I do a different Ryoko for them than I do for actual RPer's. FC Ryoko is... basically a maid, I guess?
  3. Admittedly the logo designs are probably your best art, but I like the chibis! You should do more.
  4. We could go with the german Zweihander!
  5. Well of course horses are obviously the superior choice, but we're also viewing that from our own cultural perspective. Real-world humans also tend to take the stance that technology makes everything better, while the Eorzeans have very mixed feelings about it. They're a good-spirited people, but not an open-minded people. That's a very valid point, though.
  6. For that matter, I wonder if any nation has ever actually attempted to domesticate coeurls for riding?
  7. Obviously horses are a very rare import, but I'm wondering, now that the public has been a bit warmed up to the idea by Heavensturn, would private organizations or even the Grand Companies ever entertain the thought of using horses in war, as far as IC? I mean the 100 FL wins awards a horse, but I wasn't certain if that was canon or not. I can certainly see why one would opt for a horse over a horse-bird (and not just because I upgraded my unicorn to a Sleipnir this morning). Though not as maneuverable as a chocobo, a horse would presumably be faster and more stable (as far as tripping or getting knocked over) but at the same time, I'm not sure Eorzeans are open-minded enough to appreciate the strengths of a horse as a war animal. Thoughts?
  8. If you RP in Ishgard you should finish the MSQ. *loregasm* I love how it involves investigating heretics, because it's the one MSQ plot that Ryoko might actually be involved in.
  9. I always have an album or band I listen to any time I'm doing any sort of fiction writing. For Ryoko, it's Kamelot's The Black Halo, because I feel the album very well reflects the struggle to maintain her kindness and innocence while growing up in a land ravaged by death and destruction. -YnxGleQt8I
  10. Nowhere is beyond our holy retribution! A directory would be cool, actually. I've been trying to make a list of people wanted by Ishgard in the Making Connections board, but it's not getting a lot of attention. You're right though, there should be one directory where everyone can list any organizations they've run afoul of.
  11. I tend to base all of my young female characters on Rin, which is kind of a struggle for me. She's so kind and caring, and full of hope and wonder, and she's the bravest little girl in the world. Meanwhile, I'm a sarcastic asshole with a very dry sense of humor, so it's a pretty hard role to play. Meanwhile my male characters are usually just me with a drinking and gambling problem. I watched this entire show just because she was in it ^.^;
  12. I'm thinking the new jobs are going to require you to have completed your 2.0 story on another class, and will start at lvl50. My basis for this theory is that new classes are awful to level after your first 1 or 2 (regardless of the difficulty, spamming dungeons and leves is nobody's idea of fun) and SE knows that. I think they're going to skip that entirely. When Koji said all you'd need to do is install the expansion, keep in mind he was talking to a room full of hardcore fans. There wasn't a single person in that room who wasn't already max level. Context.
  13. Lol I actually played a healer operative in SWTOR. And while I'd have to do some ridiculous lore-workarounds to justify having a pistol while being an Ishgardian cleric, I'd love something similar to Imperial Operative. I think my saber/rapier healer dream might be dead though.
  14. That left me feeling really empty. As somebody who despises both of the healing jobs but cannot stand playing anything other than a healer, I was really emotionally invested in this. Now... 2 more months? And that's *if* they announce a healer at Tokyo. The gunner is more likely a dps. Why you gotta do me like that, Yoshida? All of the landscape pictures looked cool though.
  15. Well I'm always up for it! Well, my RP time will probably be cut down a bit right after the patch release, as being a healer means I get volun-told into a lot of dungeon grinding, but whenever I'm available!
  16. To that extent I think you're correct. In-game Domans have names like Koharu and Ahiko, and they certainly have a connection with Japanese martial arts. I think what a lot of people are worried about, though, is that others will see that these connections to Japan are true, and assume (perhaps subconsciously) that all theorized connections to Japan are true. Such as the idea of a warring feudal Doma, complete with Shogun and Bushido. The way I look at it, it's like how Limsa Lominsa is based largely on post-revolution New England, but we would be incorrect in assuming that it has 13 states, broke away from a larger empire, or that it was even a democratic society. All we truly know about Doma is what has been specifically stated. Normally these assumptions would be fine if it were like Sharlayan (spelling?) where it might be years before we got any contradicting information and nobody really cares anyway, but the fact is that Doma is a really hot topic right now and we're probably going to be getting a constant stream of new info on it for at least the rest of the 2.X series. So basing your character around any assumptions about Doma is a dangerous game that probably will end in people backtracking the hell out of their characters. Although it should be noted that none of it bothers me in the slightest. Not really a part of the lore I care about. People can claim Doma is home to deep-space lizard wizards if they want, doesn't really affect me.
  17. If a specific Garlean were to wrong Ishgard enough to justify the resources to hunt him down, then absolutely. While dedicated mostly to hunting heretics, the witch hunters as I imagine them could and would often be used by the church as political and military assassins, since the skillset is basically the same, and why have two organizations when one can just do both? On the other hand, if a witch hunter were to happen across a Garlean soldier or ex-soldier who had no real connection to anything Ishgard-related, it wouldn't really be worth the risk to try anything. So it really just depends if the Garlean had made any powerful enemies in Ishgard.
  18. I... I didn't know that was even a thing. More 1.0 stuff I'm clueless about, I guess. I can't imagine the Holy See would waste time tracking down grunts, but anyone involved in orchestrating the event might warrant some holy justice! But my big question would be, would Ishgard even know where to begin looking for these men?
  19. I wouldn't exactly call Garlemald "far" east. I mean, the only thing separating the Empire from the Black Shroud is a thin strip of land belonging to Xelphatol (which somehow we still know absolutely nothing about) That is true, but until its charted, I would still consider it under that category. The way I see it, the far east would be everything outside of Eorzea. Meaning everything east after Xelphatol (Which we have no idea how big exactly is that strip of land) and Gyn Abinia. Admittedly it's all semantics, but I'm bored and it's something to talk about, right? So my thought is that while Garlemald certainly owns some of the far east (Doma and such), the near-end of the Empire is more what I'd consider the middle east, i.e. Ala Mhigo. But as you said, we have no idea what the true extent of the Empire is. For all we know, they could have territory west of us, too.
  20. That is the new armour. It's basically a recolour of the last set. If you look at the gear list it's gone from, say, 'Bearsmaw' gear to 'Bearliege' gear. *Sigh* I guess part of me always knew a day would come when they'd start doing this. I guess I should just be impressed that they held off for so long. It's just made even more disappointing by the fact that, as it appears now, we aren't getting any new dungeon sets. But then, I'm wondering if it's because the artists spent all their time on those incredibly sexy poetics sets?

  22. This kinda caught me off guard, because R'yokho used to be Ryoko's birth name before I realized I was using a Seeker name for a Keeper cat.
  23. Personally, I feel like the "weeaboo" classification is really easy to assign. "Japanese culture is objectively superior to my own people's culture" (True | False) Whether or not you're a weeaboo is completely determined by how you'd answer that. If you like something Japanese, but not specifically because it's Japanese, then you're not a weeb. You're just a nerd, like the rest of us. Well, somebody is also a weeb if they refuse to watch a tv show just because it's in english. But that's another subject entirely.
