They were found in a pub! What kind of uptight health-nuts do you thing Ishgardians are that they'd be serving health potions in a bar? Damn foreigners... "You said you found them in the Observatory. It's not my fault you weren't being specific enough and the maps in Coerthas are shoddy." -Edgar Well I would think an esteemed mage such as yourself could tell the difference between a Hi-Potion and hard liquor! Don't you have some voidspawn to be summoning, or whatever you wizards do with your free time?

They were found in a pub! What kind of uptight health-nuts do you thing Ishgardians are that they'd be serving health potions in a bar? Damn foreigners... I was thinking something similar! One name I was considering, for the sake of simplicity, is Vin de Bleu (Blue Wine), or Glacia if we wanted to get into fancy brand-names. The red one could be called Dragonfire Mead! Strong enough to blow a lalafell's head off.

If we're assuming Doma is Japan-based simply because of ninjas, well, assassin's are hardly unique to Japan. As for people attributing the yukatas to Doma, I'd say it's more likely they came from wherever the Heavensturn people originated from, and that was (I think) never said to be Doma. And I'd certainly think it wasn't, because with Doma being purged by the Empire, I doubt there are a lot of Doman tourists wandering around.

I found these really blurry bottles of alcohol at the Observatory in Coerthas. The labels are completely indecipherable, but I've decided the blue one is going to be my character's favorite drink. Let's name them together!

Just to play devil's advocate, I'm going to imagine that Doma is analogous to India simply because of the way they dress (normal clothes being long, sack-like shirts, fancy clothes being, well, what Yugiri is wearing)

Probably could've given this a more accurate name, but you're in here now! So I'd like to compile two lists for my RP purposes, just in case anyone's interested. 1) Known enemies of Ishgard 2) Potential enemies of Ishgard (i.e. suspicious people) Basically it boils down to this: If you're a known enemy, we'll have you in our intel, and Mishka and I will be actively looking for you. If you're a potential enemy, we won't know exactly who you are, but regard you as suspicious if we come across you. To dispel any concerns you may have, we will not physically harm anyone IC unless they specifically ask us to. Attempt to, likely, but not succeed. If you'd like to be on the first list, we'll need your RP name and any information we'd have in our files (doesn't actually need to be accurate, if you're managed to fool the church). For the second list, we'll only need your in-game name and possibly the reason you see suspicious. So, any aspiring heretics out there?

So do we just not know what the pvp gear will look like? Because the picture they put in the patch notes had new weapons, but the same 30-40 armor.

Hello new friend! Welcome to the RPC! Sounds like you got the name just right to me.

Alright I actually put some thought into this, and I've got an answer. And because I'm a huge hypocrite, it's from an animu. Brenna O'Brien, AKA Rin. BpExbi9IPTA Ryoko's a good 6 years older than Rin, but Rin has an incredibly mature voice for an 8 year old.

I'm sure you've been told this a million times before, but your work is absolutely astounding. There's a solid chance I'll be buying something from you in the future.

I honestly have to say that most villains always go into the path of "Team Rocket's Blasting off again!" or "I'll get you next time Gadget!" - but what the statement above pretty says everything about how one should play as villain. I'm really hoping our OP will go the 'Team Rocket' route, because it'd be nice for my crew to have an actual heretic to hunt, rather than the non-existent ones we tell everybody we're looking for.

Unless, you know, you just consider that its a remote tavern location that rarely has anyone to be bothered by the fact that you're being publicly villainous. Nowhere has to be -perfect-, and I really don't care if some NPC Blades have their feelings hurt (considering that their hands are full with other work, anyway, it doesn't seem likely that they would be too concerned with Ul'dahn-based law enforcement, its like the Wild West out there). Either there or the Coffin and Coffer seem like they would be fine representative spots for more villainous characters to hang out. Also consider that we're living in a world without photographs or television news. Those who *do* know who you are (and many won't) will either know you by name only, or by name and a rough drawing. So long as you don't go around shouting your presence to the world, and you don't hang around lawmen who know you, you're probably going to slip under the radar.

OH. MY. GOD! I'm an Ishgardian witch hunter! You could be my nemesis! We could have a never-ending game of cat and mouse where you always get away like the honorless fiend you are >

I was hoping for something different, but it's alright. It's certainly unlike any music currently in-game.

Ryoko has a dog named Turalyon she takes everywhere with her. It's supposed to be a young Coerthan Husky, but the wolf pup suffices for now.

How does large amounts of gil work when handing it over to someone
Marisa replied to OttoVann's topic in RP Discussion
My 2 gil is that most people are much richer OOC than they are IC. I mean I have like, what, 10 mil? But IC, Ryoko can't even fathom that kind of money. -
I love it when, as a healer, I fuck something up and other people apologize for it. I played WoW for 7 years, and there it was always "Anything that goes wrong is automatically the healer's fault!" Here, people are smart enough to think ahead. They realize that if I were to get mad and leave (I never do, but I could!), they'd have to wait forever for a replacement healer. The people in WoW were always too stupid to comprehend that.

Everyone wants to be from the far east because anime. Simple as that! Possibly, but I always try to pretend that's not the case... Never got the fascination, personally. Asian history, particularly feudal Japan, is kind of a one-trick pony. It's like, it's cool and all, but there's not a ton going on there. European history is just so much more diverse and... well, warfare really is the best part of history, and Europeans were so much better at killing each other. Arabs had some pretty sweet shit going on, too.

To hijack the thread a tiny bit, where is Jalzahn (atma dude) from? It wasn't Ala Mhigo or Sharlayan, was it? I feel like he was from somewhere east, but not as far east as Doma. A "Middle East", if you will. Why does nobody ever want to be from that place?

also, regarding return/teleport. you cant return/teleport whilst in combat, or if you move. So one can infer that it takes great concentration, if you were coshed on the head, had to dodge something, other reason to do anything other than focus on the spell, then it doesn't get cast. Weeeeeeell... That's kind of a recent development. Not to say that the change isn't reflected in lore, because it might be, but we used to be able to teleport in combat. But it was pretty darn abuseable (I did so many quests by running in, grabbing the quest item, then teleporting the hell out). So early on, they patched that out. However, the patch didn't seem to work, because despite saying otherwise in the notes, you could *still* teleport in combat. Then the patch after that they finally, truly disabled it.

Something about your character few know...
Marisa replied to Erik Mynhier's topic in Character Workshop
Well half the RPC forums knows it by now, but almost none of my in-game RP friends know that Ryoko is an apprentice inquisitor. -
Right now I'm listening to Soken's band playing the Ifrit theme. It's a bit grungy for my tastes, but I'd watch Soken write tax reports, so it's w/e. I uh... I don't have a video for it.

If we picked 5 random adventurers out of Eorzea's largest and pointiest bag, I'd guess 4 of them would be illiterate. Hence the heavy use of pictures in quest materials. As for the newspapers, I'd imagine it's like the real world where community leaders would hold town gatherings and read the news to all of their illiterate neighbors.
-
Not exactly a *public* library, mind you. Being that most of Eorzea is illiterate, I'd imagine libraries are limited almost exclusively to organizations of academic types.
