  1. At this point, I don't think I have any option but Stephen Fry for Gideon. Definitely claiming Mike Pollock for Brandt. He's always good for blustery angry scientists. Cough cough. DC Douglas would probably be a good choice for Five Reflections, just straddling the threshold between being a villain and merely being unsettling. And Banquo himself... well, maybe I'll go with something a little weirder. Jeff Bridges, in pretty close to his normal speaking voice.
  2. Always down for in-character dungeon runs. And a crafting event would feel... well, I think it would be an interesting change of pace having an event like that. More of an atmosphere of colleagues, and good-natured getting-things-done chat rather than life-on-the-line monster fighting. As for random vs. matching, perfectly fine with whichever. I think random might help the RP and getting-to-know-stuff feel more organic, though. Otherwise it feels a bit eharmony-ish.
  3. Across countless worlds One truth remains certainty; Don't trust the puff-puff.
  4. I. Basic Info Characters: Gideon North, Brandt Wintfrydsyn Primary character: Either Linkshells: Primary RP linkshell: II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Usual inclination towards heavy. It's the primary reason I play the game. However, I won't get bent out of shape if the situation calls for otherwise, and I can easily accommodate anyone's natural styles or preferences. Views on RP combat and injuries: Acceptable, but not suddenly on a whim or out of the blue. Personal preference would be going into a specifically given RP situation or event with the understanding that, should any injuries occur within the given event, they will be accepted as given (rather than simply taking whatever's dished out at any random given time). That way, it can still be big and climactic and significant, but I can avoid having someone's ears torn off because I knocked a cup off a table. Views on IC romance: A fine pursuit. If it's something you're interested in pursuing, I'll be happy to discuss it; certainly, under some situations, it could make for very poignant and significant interaction and stories. I am something of a sap for a good romance. There are very few boundaries aside from one: the distinction of OOC and IC. Characters may romance, pledge lifelong bonds of love, etc., but OOC I am quite happily taken. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): If it can be justified without the use of a narrative crowbar, I'm all for it. Let's talk about things, and draw some lines. We can make a flowchart and send out for donuts. Views on lore: Certainly I'm guilty of bending it when it suits my purposes. I'd be delighted to go along with it if circumstances require we adhere directly to it, but I'm nobody to judge if you end up bending things a teense. As long as nobody declares their character the long-lost Sovereign King of Gridania, I think we ought to be fine. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Whatever suits your purposes. I'm adaptable, and haven't taken one method as my default yet. III. 5. Sounds good to me. If you have any kind of specific jargony sort of thing that she's studying in particular, like Thaumic Deconstruction or Illusion Theory or Resonance Cascades, he'll be more than happy to demand she expound on things.
  6. Solid. As long as he can be patient and recognize the professor's bluster for what it is, I'm all for it. Certainly, I can see avenues for connection there. Though I imagine he'd only put up with so much sound and fury from the Professor - I'll look for you in-game and we can sort out some specifics.
  7. Well, I'm not altogether sure I have a main at this point. The offer's a kind one, I'm sure; I'll look into it a little. Even if not joining outright, I'm more than willing to learn about it and work with its associates.
  8. Afternoon, all. I've learned quickly that this game isn't the most friendly regarding alt-itis, but nevertheless I've ended up with a couple characters I particularly enjoy RPing; I figure it's about time I started trying to get them some long-term allies or enemies, people to count on, people to resent, rivals, comrades, all that business. I enjoy writing them, but without consistent relationships and people to interact with, they exist in a vaccuum. Being a DM, I'm also interested in orchestrating some of these player-run plots I've been hearing about, but without much knowledge of how these things are done mechanically, I'm a bit sunk. For now, I'm just gauging interest, and if the time arises when I can run something, I'll be more than happy to. Hopefully, if I can get in on participating in one, that might give me the experience I need to better understand the running of one. http://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Gideon_North The first is North. As I'm still working on progressing him to the point where he can wear a coatee of some kind, there's no default picture. Apologies. TLDR: An ex-valet whose patron house was murdered by unknown members of the Ul'dahn upper class. Polite, obliging and competent in almost all things, he attempts to be (in many aspects) the perfect butler, and will treat strangers with the same deference and respect he would treat an assigned master... including occasional bursts of dry, slightly caustic wit. http://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Brandt_Wintfrydsyn Second is Professor Wintfrydsyn. TLDR: A foul-mouthed Roegadyn professor of Temporal Arcana Theory, doing research into whether or not it's possible to use magic to affect time. Once an arrogant, villainesque gladiator; career was ended due to an unpleasant accident in which his arm was disabled. Abrasive, bad-tempered, and stubborn... but can respect resilience, and the ability to come back from rock bottom. It will likely be some time before either of these characters hit endgame. I understand if that's a bit of a point against me, but rest assured either of them are more than capable of helping and supporting others in their ventures, even if not necessarily mechanically. What I am essentially looking to do is cultivate some IC relationships. People who can grow to know either of them, and perhaps come to enjoy their company, as they would your characters. It's difficult for me to establish that kind of thing just spontaneously (though I'm steadily learning to look people up on the wiki when I'm curious about getting to know them more), so if you have any interest in pursuing a connection with either of them, I'd be more than happy to work something out. Please, feel free to talk about your character here if you see an opportunity. EDIT: Secondarily, I'm seeing bits here and there about Skype groups centered around this RP community? Naturally I wouldn't just demand entry right off the bat, but if it's open to the public, so to speak...
  9. Since Brandt's the one on my mind for now, I'll go with one for peace: w_L96Q5mzck And one for fighting: gvJk9m_PNgw
  10. "I assure you, all necessary preparations have been made." The young man appears to have taken pains to extract himself from Gridania's central clumps of travelers and passersby, but he can still be seen, coolly speaking into a linkpearl - his posture straight and formal. "Sir's concern is quite kind, though I urge you accept my word that it is wholly unnecessary." He listens a couple moments longer, a placid politeness still visible in his expression, then gives a brief laugh - curt and clipped. "Well, if they do, sir, you may also rest assured that I will be fully prepared for them. My years in the young master's employ, you may recall, did not leave me completely incapable of defending myself - nor, I should think, of providing. I only apologize that, for both our sakes, I will not divulge my current location." Another pause, then a patient sigh. "Master Iosaphonn, I humbly advise you to erase whatever records you may have of our contact. I am sure you have no illusions of what measures my pursuers might take, should they discover our correspondence - and moreover, I am beginning to believe you are incapable of speaking to me without fussing. I am afraid I cannot be dissuaded. The young master deserved -" He hesitates, face freezing for the slightest of moments. "- deserves justice, and as long as that is the one thing I can yet provide him, I will seek it out. Regardless of how long it takes, or what it may require of me." His expression has grown hard. "I am the young master's second in all things. As long as I yet retain duties to perform, young sir, I will perform them." He listens for a long moment more, face shifting gradually from a cold determination to a tired softness. "I understand. Sir's support is... most appreciated." He hesitates, then finally smiles, exhaling in an almost involuntary half-chuckle. "...Do take care of yourself, Rhei." There's a couple seconds' pause, and he quietly cuts the connection... quickly turning, eyes sharp as he casts around for listeners before making his way out into the green.
  11. A three-piece suit. With each individual piece independently dyeable and toggleable.
  12. It's apparently a given that literacy is not exactly the most common thing in Eorzea, but clearly there's at least provision for the learned - judging by the Arcanists, and the apparent steady flow of new students of magic. What I'd like to know is this; are there any known institutes of arcane/divine theory and education? A character's background hinges on having once been a professor, but information seems scarce on where this could have taken place.
  13. wordsmithrefl. Much less coherent/more talkative there.
  14. Been enjoying your visual/textual reports from IC. Welcome.
  15. Eh? Aw, heck. Virtually no idea how DMing works through an MMO, but I'll poke around and see if there's anything I can assist with. Virtue as well, myself. Though, due to aforementioned MMO patterns... 14 different characters, and not a one of them past level 30. Them's the poor-time-management breaks. Most prolific ones, though, were a villain named Fallen Emperor and a hero named Reincarnate. I miss them. Like refugees of the Calamity, s'pose. Gotta find a new place to call home. Means a lot to me that folks said hello and such. Will try and puzzle out the wiki so's I can have something to present. Lookin' forward to bumpin' into anyone.
  16. Tried to register a couple nights ago. Couldn't. Seems you guys were in the middle of moving servers or something, according to a passing patron of the Quicksand. (Cheers, miss.) Ended up signing up at work. So now everyone there knows the Real Reason I play this dang game. In whatever case, hello. Banquo. Alternately laconic and pretentiously wordy. Chronic alt-itis. Not great in the case of this game. Trying anyway. Hopefully I don't come off as a jerk. Here's somethin' nice to listen to while you're crafting, as recompense. ... Lookin' around, I get the sense that I'm supposed to provide some kind of credentials or information here. Guess I can scrounge something up. -Currently workin' as a freelance writer, assisting in dialogue with a couple VNs for mobile. -Running a D&D/Pathfinder campaign of about three and a half years so far. Playing in several others. -Decidedly amateur voice actor. -Kind of new to MMO theory. More used to very organized, structured settings that were specifically for roleplay; ie. D&D stuff. Only other MMO played seriously was City of Heroes/Villains (may it rest in peace). Please correct me when necessary. Internetiquette is an ongoing study. Open to generally anything, RP-wise... though I'll probably ask for justification behind out-of-the-blue shell or FC invites.
