  8. I would think that it may make more sense to use 'coeurl' rather than Miqo'te. Especially since you have the hard 'c' there so you still get the fun alliteration of things like 'Curiosity killed the coeurl.' True facts - I guess someone let the coeurl out of the bag. You could for sure refer to 'cat things' as miqo'te but I've had people icly refer to my keeper as a 'kitty' and that's p much just boardline racist - basically calling my character an 'animal'. So I mean you could totally do this but I'd be pretty aware that this is more than likely implied/casual racism than anything else. I do think coeurl would work a ton better - we have the kitten and the black coeurl and have seen/heard of them otherwise being kept as pets
  9. Oh everyone's welcome to rp as they please, I guess I just don't really think it's something (at least in my all understanding I have with the lore) in the realm of a realistic possibility. The species are different to such an extent that it isn't the same as say an elezen and midlander having a kid - children who I think might end up just being infertile even if viable for life. They're completely different species, unlike the other races of eorzea. Write for your own enjoyment, totally, but it's not really something I can see easily validated through the ingame lore. Playing a glamoured dravanian too it's kinda hard to see this type of stretch being something I'd want to or even be able to incorporate into my rp. I can guess people who are heavily involved in Dragoon rp might have a similar issue. (that said you might also want to look into dragoon, heretic and dragon blood lore stuff it might be interesting given well, people basically turning into dragons or gaining particular traits/connections). If you're gonna go for it then sure go for it - but I'd also say there's a lot of pitfalls with the idea as well given how
  10. The Inquisitor was an actual dragon simply under a glamour. That doesn't really mean half-breed babies are going to suddenly come into existence, most species can't breed with one another and create actual offspring or viable offspring - I mean I'd hardly think they could procreate even if... They're not always the bad guys I mean literally that is the 3.0 storyline.
  11. Voted, but either day works pretty much equally well for me! I hope everything goes smoothly - everything I heard about the last event was all wonderful!
  12. This. Anyx Trine is by far the best source. Off the top of my head, what I remember from there: *Young dragons take a VERY long time to mature. They are still in the 'whelp' stage at 30 years old. Wyverns are apparently kind of a juvenile stage, I think? Pretty sure Wyverns are just another species/type of dragon. The wyverns we dealt with were juvenile but talk to some other ones around that area - or there are some new mobs (such as Elder Wyvern and some other varieties of wyverns). This is sort of the same as an Avis or Dragonfly are another type/species of dragon. And man that hierarchy of dragons - sending countless dragonflies to die like cannon fodder.
  13. I about agree with this as well. If anything, an argument could be made that roleplay is bad for writing and thus critical evaluation isn't helpful. It enables a lot of bad habits such as uncertain actions, narrow-minded perspectives, and is incredibly constraining with text limits and limited styles of posts. Self-evaluating yourself might only hurt your actual writing abilities. I sort of feel like it's how using your own self-evaluating for novel writing wouldn't help you for writing for a comic, as the mediums require different styles of writing and pacing. If you've been having fun and other people have had fun with you, that's about all the self-evaluation you need. I just roleplay like a social hobby though, akin to tabletop games with friends. Honestly I could just as easily argue the opposite. RPing is an exercise in writing that makes you write 'on your toes' so to speak. You have to be thinking from not the perspective of 'how do I want to convey this planned story' to 'how can I write this character in a way that is realistic for their backstory and a situation that wasn't planned out'. It's different than writing alone, not necessarily pointless as a writing exercise or even outright bad. I've found that over the years writing in a group setting has drastically improved my ability with characterization as well as in general the speed I can make myself write - something I struggled pretty heavily with until I roleplayed a lot more actively. - Roleplay is a form of entertainment, that is for sure, but I don't think that striving to improve in any way takes away from it being 'just for fun'. Ultimately, learning to think in a more critical way about things such as 'is this the most realistic way my character would react?' or 'am I falling into a cliche trap and would something different be more interesting for myself/my rp partners?' aren't a chore but ultimately lead to more entertaining roleplay and a lot more personal enjoyment out of it for myself and others - which is really the goal. After having rped for a long time, looking back at characters/situations/rps I wrote years ago, I often know I could have done a better job expressing them now or maybe even made the entire experience of that rp more interesting for me and people I rped with because of how I've grown over time. I think that's great and a wonderful measure of improvement! I also think that continuing to critically look at both character and writing really allow for that improvement to flourish. I'm not pushing to improve my writing or characters or anything like that for the sake of other people's criticism, but over the years I've found being able to convey my characters and the situation's they're in in different, more multi-faceted lights as well as to create more dynamic rp and situations that I might've struggled with before. This is about personal criticism and critique, though, not others. Ultimately if you don't like what someone's doing with rp (and honestly, I think people are perfectly allowed to feel this way) just don't rp with those people if something really bothers you. Elitism isn't really in play here - or shouldn't be - when talking about self evaluation. Nobody's ever done growing as a writer and nobody should be in some ivory tower above less experienced players.
  14. Your elezen sounds lovely My half-breed bb has connections to house dzemael that might be interesting (please excuse my wip wiki). I also have an elezen who's got some extreme ties with Ishgard though he adamantly hates Ishgardians (wips forever one day I'll finish). I'd normally say I'm easy to reach ingame but right now dealing with hopping between friend's houses while I deal with moving into a new house. I'm on skype (username: bellsify) though if either characters sound of interest and you'd wanna talk or even do any rp on skype! [EDIT] Oh my keeper is actually living right now in a fc's house really close to yours if that's ic - he's around the area a lot going to-from Ul'dah often (I THINK I have the right district)!
  15. Oh man I would love some more Ishgardian themed rp with my not-quite heretic (even if I'm still desperately working towards finishing the msq so he can actually go to Ishgard icly). I'll try to get ahold of someone, though my internet has been pretty off-on this last week.
  16. Seems out of date but an updated version of this would be amazing! As far as districts it wouldn't make a ton of sense to have one district designated over others. FC's and personal houses are spread out everywhere - and not necessarily by choice sometimes so much as availability. I'm in a subdivision for my personal house which is icly both a shop and residence that I use with someone else very frequently - as well as have had others rping there often. Yet, because I'm in a subdivision there's not a whole lot of general traffic there besides a couple other personal rp houses and two active fc I know of rping there. I think most divisions are kinda like this overall.
  17. The trouble with XIV, though, is that we DO have some examples of this sort of thing. 2.55 ending cutscenes feature full-on environmental destruction, and the Hildebrand questline features a number of superhuman feats. Not that I don't feel the same way as you do, but these are frequently the counterpoint to "realism" being invoked. What Raubahn can do is considerable, yes, and as a scapegoat we can blow it on intense rage fueled by his emotions and adrenaline, but for anyone short of Raubahn being able to do the same feat no problem is a bit... disarming. heh As for Godbert. He's a God. 'nuff said. The fight wasn't just Raubahn though or are you saying Raubahn had to be met through a etheric means by thatoneguyiforgothowtospell? It's not complete unreasonable but I've had a good deal of balance-breaking interactions with people via combat/random rolling rp in xiv. Being extremely powerful in this universe is a thing but I think what I've had a far greater issue with in these type of situations is magical or aetheric abilities that go above and beyond what would be standard than simply super amazing at combat folks. Especially when this type of thing isn't mentioned oocly/explained it can be a bit redic and jarring. Everyone rps differently, is the thing to remember. And tbh it's final fantasy - I've come to expect an element of 'over the top'. Yet, as said above it's a bit disarming when your run of the mill adventurer who is able to do almost godly combat. I wouldn't necessarily call this type of thing godmodding, I guess, so much as over the top and broken. I wouldn't really call someone out as a godmodder if they're playing in the confines of the rolls, but ultimately I'm gonna give those folks who are mega overthetop a bit wider girth and not really rp with them much.
  18. Val would likely get himself tempered by Ramuh...dumb guy getting way too close given his interest in the primal. Ziv I would've said Levi before but after nearly drowning and watching a number of people he did care about die because of that accident, he's been pretty much terrified of water so that would be difficult. Ifrit if anyone. He grew up around and has always been fascinated by the Amalj'aa. I need to know more about Alexander, but it kinda suits him. Alaire MIGHT be willing to work in a sense for Shiva. MIGHT. Bastian....kid doesn't want anything to do with Primals.
  19. I can only assume Ziv'ir would be a Pharmacist or if he was lucky working in Research, something with Chemistry. Maybe a part time student still while working fulltime. Alaire would be doing something highly illegal and highly profitable. Bastian would have been Security Guard, maybe private security, prior to any injuries. After them if they occurred in a modern setting he'd jump from odd job to odd job until he figured something better out. Val hmm...a Mortician or maybe something in Forensics, specifically with blood. He would've gotten a pretty good education and likely has a few degrees all paid for thanks to his family who he hates.
