How-To || The Basics Important, > Join Tumblr *It is important to note that when you create your account, this will be the "master" account. You can have multiple blogs but when you follow people, it will always show up as your master account. Some people choose to have an OOC blog as their master account others their IC blog. It comes down to preference. If you choose to have your master blog as an OOC blog you can follow the steps I will list below to make your OOC blog nice like your IC blog. For the purpose of this walk through, I'm going to act as though your master blog is OOC. The Starting Point Once you have created your blog you will see several things. I want you to ignore everything and look for the little person in the top right hand corner. When you click it, you should see things like, "Likes," "Following," "Settings," and, "Help." Then you'll see, "BLOGS," in little font. Beside it there will be, "+New." Click that! > Name your IC blog > Finish Ask Boxes & NSFW You should now be on your IC blog's dash. Here, you'll see all your posts. You can double check this by looking back at the right hand side. You should see your IC blog's name (example: Bob-and-bumble-bees). Click the little person again. > Click the cog, "Settings." > Click your in character blog. > Scroll down > Click, "Let people ask questions," it should turn blue. > Click, "Allow anonymous questions," it should turn blue. > Click, "Flag this blog as adult-orientated," it should turn blue. *If you feel like any content will be NSFW - This is not just sexual. All these preferences will auto-save. Now I want you to scroll up. > Click Edit Theme > Click "Edit HTML" > Erase everything. Themes At this point you will want to find a theme you like. Tumblr supplies you with a handful of free themes but I don't usually suggest them. There's tons of theme creators who offer their themes free of use. They're absolutely gorgeous and I will link a few personal favorites. http://itsacrimetheme.tumblr.com/tagged/themes http://roleplay-theme-recs.tumblr.com/ http://enchantinglythemes.tumblr.com/allthemes http://scs-themes.tumblr.com/ http://themesbyyohana.tumblr.com/tagged/theme You can also search through themes on tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/tumblr-theme https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/tumblr-themes Make sure you try to preview the theme. Things could be outdated or the coding may not look %100 percent how you want it to, or match what you wish to accomplish. All these people link where you can get the code from. Click that link and copy everything. If they're using something like pastebin, you don't need to copy the "Raw Data" if you've copied the box above it. Once you have found a code you like. . . > Update > Save > Click the <- to the left. Anything that your theme allows you to adjust (like post colors) you can now see under "Theme Options." You can adjust this to your preference. In your description you'll want to add some form of blurb. Usually people will include something along the lines of "In character," "," "," "." (You can see mine for inspiration: http://kintsukuroi-memoir.tumblr.com/) Once everything is to your fancy, click Save again. You've now set up your home page! Your home page will show all posts made by you (unless you post them as private which I will get to later). Additional Theme-Stuff If you close out your customization you'll be brought back to your "Cog" / Preferences page. > Click "Edit Appearance" > Change your, "Avatar," to any image you like! > Save Doing The Stuff! Now click the person. Go back to your IC blog. You'll see that you haven't posted anything so I shall now give you the run down on that! You will see a few things: Text, Photo, Quote, Link, Chat, Audio, Video. They're all pretty self explanatory and depending on your theme will look a little different on your actual website. *I call these widgets: Text: Allows you to post large pieces of text. This is usually what people use for stories. Photo: Allows you to upload up to ten photos or link photos. This is what people will use for screenshot dumps, image-themed stories, inspirational images, etc. Quote: Allows bigger font for impact. Most themes make something special out of this. This is usually used for character quotes, inspirational quotes, character thoughts, etc. Link: Allows you to link something off site (or on site!). Usually if you try to reblog something that's lengthy it'll try to turn it into a link. I don't suggest allowing it to do this. I will explain how to change this when I explain the reblog system. Chat: Created a unique appearance for a conversation between multiple parties. This is usually used for writing prompts, captures of character conversation, etc Audio: Functions similar to the photo system but is limited to one song. People will occasionally use this for character songs. Video: More commonly used for character / inspirational songs. All these can be beneficial to your character blog. At any time you wish for these to be private before you click, "Post," click the drop down arrow and select, "Private." Now, if you click a "blank line," in your post you'll notice a (+) come up. If you click it, you can add things in that space like an image, read more line, or rule (a horizontal line). The general rule of thumb is that if you have to scroll down more than three times it should be beneath a "Read More" break. Alternatively, anything you find nsfw you can also put beyond the break. If you highlight text you'll be given an action bubble that'll allow you to turn it into a link, header, etc. You can tag a person you're following by @ Reblogging Links Remember how earlier I mentioned that whole length-to-link issue? Here's how you fix it: > Click the reblog button (anything you like that you see when you follow someone or search something, you can reblog. At the bottom of the post there's two arrows chasing one another (right corner). Similar to a recylcing symbol. > At the top, make sure you've selected the blog you want it to go to (top left hand corner). Then look to the top right hand corner > You'll see the link / infinity symbol, click it. > Click Text > DO THIS BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES. THEY WILL NOT BE SAVED. Tags On the bottom of the window you'll see a little tag with a bar beside it. Here you'll want to tag your post specific things. It is usually common courtesy to tag things NSFW / TW (Trigger Warning) for the appropriate content. You can also tag things with your respective server. However, it's also helpful for when you create a menu page (I'll get into that when I explain pages). Tags will create a special page for that tag on your blog that is invisible unless linked. Example: Bob-and-bumble-bees.tumblr.com/tagged/short stories The above link will take you to anything tagged "short story." Only your first five tags on a post will be tracked. Make sure that anything you want people to be able to see on tumblr's main tag dump (tumblr.com/tagged/balmung for example) are within the first five tags. Menu Previously I mention a menu page. In order to create this you'll have to go back to customizing you page. This can be done one of three two ways: > Go to your blog dash > Click "Edit appearance" (Right hand beneath Members) You can also go to the little man in the top right, settings, go to your blog, and click "Edit Theme." OR > Go to your blog (Bob-and-bumble-bees.tumblr.com) > Click "Edit Theme," (should be top right). THEN, > Scroll down beyond theme options > Click Add page Here you can do one of two things: For a basic menu: > Standard Layout > Click, "Show a link to this page." > Name the url (something short is better like, 'menu,' 'navi,' etc). > Give the page a title, "Tags Menu," "Navigation, "Menu," all work. > Click > Copy the following: yourblognamehere.tumblr.com/tagged/tag name> >Repeat as necessary for the things you may wish to appear on the tumblr. For a decorated page: Sometimes theme creators will create pages, too. You'll need to follow their guides on how to achieve the end-game. However, you will have to initially follow some of the steps above. > Add page > Custom Layout > Paste the Code > Follow the page's creator's instructions. For some inspiration on what you can tag things you can visit my navigation: Gisei no Hoshichou {nsfw} Once it is all said and done, you can post your blog here so people can follow you!

You and I shall chit-chat about the wonders of tumblr and how to use it. <3
-
Oh oh! A topic I can help with. A few things to consider: Do you have a tumblr (or other blog -- but I suggest tumblr and in a moment I'll get to that). If no: I strongly suggest you reconsider. Tumblr is rather easy to use and I'm totally all for helping you. However, this is such a firm suggestion because it's amazing for creative juices. Outside of being an RP connector it also allows you to have certain themes on your dash to inspire you. If yes: Search for blogs with themes. Things you may want to look into: -Fashion -Environmental -Musical -Writing (like quotes, etc) http://writeworld.org/ is glorious for inspiration and is a blog you can follow on tumblr. The other good thing about tumblr is that several writing prompts often come up through the community. They can be reblogged as tools for people to ask you questions or for you to answer and write. Other Links: {May be NSFW} Character Questions: Masterlist (Also a great resource for prompts and advice!): Click me 30 Days of Character Development: Click me Get to know your characters: Click me Writing Prompts: Daily Tumblr: Click Me Writing Prompts Subreddit (anyone can contribute): Click Me A site that picks from several preexisting prompts at random: Click Me A true random generator: Click Me Character Inspiration Blogs: Armor: Click Me Weapons: Click Me A really important concept with writing block is that often it is not something that just "goes away." More often than not we need to kick ourselves into getting over it. I will listen to piano music in order to try and get into a creative mood. http://www.solopianoradio.com/ is a great link for that. It only plays piano music. I know people sometimes do timed writing. If your writer's block is really bad you may wish to consider it. You set down a timer. Write everything that comes to your mind, it doesn't matter the context. Example: You sit down Set timer for five minutes You just write for five minutes Some people do this once daily other every hour. It depends on how much you want to push yourself.

Currently, I believe, Balmung is open.

The Courtesan Compendium (A Guide)
BumblingSeaBiscuit replied to PkThunda's topic in Character Workshop
This is a glorious reference for those new (or even not new) to playing a courtesan (or courtesan-esque) character. Thank you for providing this to the community, it's amazing. -
http://moonlight-miracles.tumblr.com/ This is my in character blog. It's nsfw due to a multitude of themes. (Violence, sensual, language, substance abuse, etc)
-
Ezhara has a tumblr. However, it's worth noting that the blog is NSFW (nothing on there, yet, but my stories do run on the dark side).
-
Updates ~*~ Ezhara now has both a Wiki and a Tumblr! Both are still under construction but reveal a different glimpse into the character that others may find interesting. I will soon be opening up a connections page, so more information on that soon.

Basic Information ~*~ Characters: Ezhara Jinkjahl Primary character: Ezhara Jinkjahl Linkshells: The Pillow Fort, The Midnight Pearl, The Night Owls, Kraken's Reach Primary RP linkshell: The Midnight Pearl Roleplay Style ~*~ Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy. Most of my MMO time is devoted to roleplay. As I've been a roleplayer for about ten years, I find that it remains my highest interest in an MMO community. With my experience, I am comfortable being a story writer (also known as dungeon master) for roleplays. However: please note that submitting your character to my story telling (or involving yourself long term with my character) may result in your character being subject to grimdark themes (such as they may include: language, substance abuse, violence, etc). Please inform me if this is not something you are interested in. Views on RP combat and injuries: I believe that combat requires communication. I *rarely roleplay using a roll system and due to that I often only get in combat situations with those I am comfortable with. I have experience writing combat, and I strive to make the scene fair for all parties involved (see: DMing ability). I will not kill my character without discussion and story purposes. I will not involve my character in gore without discussion and story purposes. I don't mind broken limbs, stab wounds, or other such 'extreme' injuries. I simply like my character (she's new, after all) and would not like to have her broken so swiftly. *I will participate in rolls but again, communication is required. Views on IC romance: The line between IC and OOC must never be crossed. I am especially picky when it comes to romantic partners and my character. The relationship must develop naturally and through long term plot-line. I need to trust you on an out of character level. *My character is mated and not looking to change that any time soon. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I adore these. Please feel free to message me if you would like to work on something (like family), or alternatively approach my character (for things like friendships!). Views on lore: I am still learning. However, I'm a quick learner and I spend a lot of my time learning the lore. Lore is important to me and I try to play to its rules as much as I possibly can. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /Say = My character talking. /Emote = My character's actions. /Linkshell = My only one currently is OOC. /Party = OOC unless otherwise stated /Tell = OOC unless stated or shown otherwise (such as the use of quotation marks). /Shout = From what I gather is a "general" chat and I consider it OOC. /Yell = IC but should only be used if your character is quite literally shouting. /Freecompany = Dependant on FC. Other Information ~*~ Country: Canada Timezone: PST - My schedule is flexible but I'm often on mid evening to early morning. Contact info: You can contact me through this website or in game, for now. ~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~

[In Game Prompt] A Peculiar Piece of Paper
BumblingSeaBiscuit replied to BumblingSeaBiscuit's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hello, I'm glad you liked it! To answer your question, she may eventually develop in a direction similar to that. Right now, she's currently far too subtle as she struggles with her own anxieties. She's also soundless (a mute) so she'd have to do motivational get-togethers a bit differently than most. I wasn't too sure where to put this. As, I'm not really seeking for my character to personally gain something out of it (I mean, how could she? The notes are anonymous ) like connections, but it's also not really an event or a development movement. It's also more "server-specific." So I sort of just went for it. I see that it was moved and I'm going to trust mod judgement. <3 -
Thank you everyone for your welcomes and your help! It is very appreciated.

IC ~*~ It may of been noticed by those who frequent Ul'dah that something potentially unusual has entered their lives. Pieces of paper had been shaped into small critters and placed all around the city. Once unfolded, these messages read optimistic and inspirational quotes. The messages ranged from, "It's always darkest before dawn," "BELIEVE: Be Everything Life Is Erasing & Vaunt Exception," "It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light," "Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity," "I'm not telling you it is going to be easy. I am telling you it is going to be worth it," and more. After they had been read, nothing particularly spectacular happened. Perhaps the, 'Magic,' of it all had been the attempt (and maybe success) to make the citizens and visitors of Ul'dah just a little happier. OOC ~*~ Hi everyone! This was just an idea I thought of while I had been roleplaying around Ul'dah. My character had been handing out inspirational and optimistic quotes to people. I figured I'd extend the offer to characters that weren't around at the time in a more subtle way. Whether or not you opt to use this is entirely up to you! These notes would be hidden all around the city. From placed on bar counters and stools, to beneath cups, in cracks, left on benches, stuck out of a flower pot, or otherwise. You're welcome to use them however you feel from here. If you do end up using them in game, maybe you could post what you did here for future inspiration (or reference)? Food for thought! Otherwise, I'm not too sure if I put this in the right section. It's kind of an "in game," prompt / tool for sparking roleplay (or stories, if you write stories you can still use this!). Hope some fun comes out of it. <3 Ezzie

Hello there! I was directed to this site through some really nice people in the shout chat. As I understand it, this seems to be "the" roleplay site for Final Fantasy 14. So, I'm just going to wing this. . . HI I'M NEW. That should have been obvious enough but in case it wasn't, hi! I've only been playing this game for a couple days now but I'm really rather fond of it. Beyond the graphics, the gameplay has been a lot of fun for me, too. I've already stumbled upon an RP event out in the world which is. . . a refreshing change of scenery. Despite my newbiness to this specific game it is not the first MMO I've roleplayed in. I roleplayed in Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, and World of Warcraft. The latter two for quite an amount of time (GW2 since release, WoW pre-BC). I'm lurking around Final Fantasy considering a new home and a change of environment (I'm already relieved to see how nice people seem). The point of this post, I suppose, is just to say hello! You have a new person in your community! I also wouldn't mind some. . . help. Err, specifically I have a few questions that people with more experience might be able to answer for me. So, without further rambling: 1) Where are some of the main "roleplay" hubs? - Is there anything I should know about them specifically (the frequent crowd, etc) 2) FASHION IS IMPORTANT. How can I get more. . . cute clothes? My character is female (see: my avatar). 3) What is the "general view" on players who aren't guilded in a roleplay guild? In GW2 it practically became mandatory with the server system. Should I be already looking for a guild or can I lurk around and go from there? 4) How common are "character blogs"? It became a big trend on GW2 (and a bit on WoW). - Are they a thing, here? - Are they respected? - Are there specific tags used to track community things? 5) Do you have any tips for a new player in this game? Both gameplay and RP tips are fine! . . .Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this, and answer my questions!
