  1. I like the cut of your jib. What about some same-species romance*, bb? *"Romance" may or may not include in this context, a candlelit dinner for two consisting of fish sticks and gatorade of a flavor of your choice, a batch of "magic" chocolate chip cookies, and a viewing of Robocop 2, which we will ignore for heavy petting and then I'll probably call you like three weeks later.
  2. I guess, but if there's like, a science to things that are always there, I've got some bigger burning questions here, like, how come I can create a spectral buster sword and stab the personification of the element of fire in the face with it? Is that magic or science? Or both? Where does the magic end and the science begin? I guess my argument is, science isn't really going to be a driving force in the setting for a game called "Final Fantasy", even though the title lies because there's well over 14 of these things. If "intelligent design" is the buzzword here, why couldn't the playable races be "intelligently designed" to want to bone each other? Now if we're talking offspring, I really don't know. But the idea behind pheremones and attraction get thrown completely out of the window to me when I see the laws of nature broken all the time for the most mundane things. I'm looking at you, aerodynamics. Or it could be lifestream goo.
  3. I'm not really sure I"m comfortable talking biology in a setting made up almost entirely of magical crystals and lifestream goo. I mean we are talking about a setting that is seems like a creationists fever dream. There is literally a crystal that speaks to each character and says "I am Hydaelyn." Biology as we know it might not mean much in Eorzea.
  4. Category A: You, OOCLY 1. Are there any any races you particularly love the opposite (or same) gender of? The models, the history, the lore, anything. Female Roegs, female Highlanders, and female Elezen turn my crank. Mi'qote girls are kinda shway sometimes. I think the only Lalafell I'd ever make an exception for is Momodi, because she's hilarious. 2. How do you view interracial couples in -game-? Specifically, let's not get into a debate about whether or not it's 'gross' to you as a person or if there are too many people doing it. It's fantasy, man. Do whatevs. Let the cat people fall in love with the acorn gnomes if they want to. Who are we to judge the love a knife-ear and a red Incredible Hulk looking person? 3. Do your OOC feelings towards a particular race make you more open or affect what your character is looking for when they're either flirting around, pursuing romance, or just, in general, acting differently towards those individuals. I think for the most part my preferences bleed over into Dogberry, except he's more into Mi'qote than I am. Like me, he's not so much in to Lalafell, but probably wouldn't make the exception for Momodi. Category B: Your character 1. Does your character seek friends or partners based predominantly on race? Dogberry is a bit biased toward other Roegadyn. He's more willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, or excuse any of their character flaws, and when dealing with Roegadyn women, there's definitely a difference between how he treats them versus women of other races. For example, even if a Roegadyn allows herself to be called by a more common name, he will insist on using her Roegadyn name as a show of solidarity. His flirting is much more reserved than it is with other women, as well. He feels much more social pressure to settle down with a Roegadyn woman than he does with women of other races. That's not to say he wouldn't consider settling down with another race, but he'd definitely worry about what his family would think. It's entirely likely that he would refuse to introduce his partner to his family, for fear that they'd judge him or, worse, his partner harshly. Romantically, Dogberry sees most races as potential partners. Dogberry is also a bit of a jerk toward Lalafells. He has very little experience with them and hasn't gone out of his way to change that. He sees them as cutesy stereotypes rather than as people. I think so far he's only met one that had a personality he could see as "normal". The rest, right or wrong, he just kind of dismisses. It's definitely not his best quality. 2. How does your character view interracial pairings and are their feelings different from your own? He thinks they're fine, but like I said, still has a hard time if he sees a Roegadyn in a serious relationship with a non-Roegadyn, even if he were to be in a serious interracial relationship at the time. In this way, Dogberry is a gigantic grey hypocrite. He had a very pro-Roegadyn chauvinistic upbringing, and when that clashes with reality the cognitive dissonance is palpable.
  5. Just brilliant! I think an IC pool party is in order now that we have all these cool swim suits.
  6. NFYIiqUa3Qw The Bailey Hound's cover of the Great Southern Trendkill by Pantera. Kind of has that bluesy feel that I think Dogberry would be a big fan of if it existed in Eorzea. opyVdN8GZtc And then original for when the adrenaline kicks in and the punching begins. 2z0LoC7sh2s For when Dogberry picks up a spear again. I move to make this song the song the anthem for Dragoons.
  7. LEMME TELL YOU BROTHER IF YOU WANNA BE THE MAN YOU GOTTA BEAT THE MAN WOOOOO!
  8. Dogberry “Now I see that I will never find the light Unless, like the candle, I am my own fuel, Consuming myself.”- Bruce Lee "Our greatest foes, and whom we must chiefly combat, are within." - Miguel de Cervantes "Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend." - Albert Camus Fresh Bread "If, after I depart this vale, you ever remember me and have thought to please my ghost, forgive some sinner and wink your eye at some homely girl." - H.L. Mencken "Is there a place for the hopeless sinner that has hurt all mankind just to save his own?" - Bob Marley "Oh, I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now." - Bob Dylan
  9. Hi guys! I'm Dogberry Himalspyr on Balmung. If you're on Balmung and nervous about RP, put me on your friends list, and we can meet up sometime to RP. I love RP, and am very flexible when it comes to creating scenarios in which to RP. If you need help rounding out your character, I find even just small talk RP helps. In character, Dogberry's a bit of a wandering bohemian who walks Eorzea trying to find peace of mind. He loves meeting new people, and despite his rough exterior, he's always willing to share a drink or a smoke a bowl of moko grass with a kindly stranger. He'll be more than happy to introduce you around to other people as well if you like. Out of character, I think it's awesome and brave of you guys to make a thread like this, and admit your concerns about joining in RP. I totally understand your concerns, and believe me, I'm a veteran of Celestial Hills and remember TERA at launch. I had some pretty hilarious failed attempts at RP in Guild Wars as well. Also, if you don't want to RP with me (don't worry, I won't be offended if you don't), check out some of the places in the thread about RP hotspots, and just walk up when you see people there. Make sure you distinguish yourself from a non-RPer, maybe by emoting close by, or letting people know OOC that you intend to join in. I know it can be daunting, but there really are people out there who try to be as inclusive as possible. Good luck, guys!
  10. I DID IT! *FF Victory theme!* Hahaha, I woke up, rushed downstairs to my computer like Ralphie on Christmas morning. Saw that the servers were up and made Dogberry on Balmung faster than a chocobo on hypers.
  11. Poker Night at the Inventory when I want to hang with a glass of scotch and a nice smoke. Nothing like playing poker with all my favorite cartoon characters. Kerbal Space Program pretty much every other time. After many lives lost and several dozen pretty explosions, the Kerbals have finally launched a satellite into orbit. The Buttnik Probe program is considered a success, and now we will move on to launching random objects at the Mun.
  12. Seconded! Even if you weren't serious about that one... I was absolutely serious. Gau is one of my favorite FF characters. Uwaooooo~!
  13. Gau. Just imagine him running wild through The Black Shroud, barking at funguars.
  14. As for the actual character of Fresh Bread, "The Man Who Sold The World" by David Bowie fits well with the background I'm coming up for him. HSH--SJKVQQ
  15. So I've pretty much scrapped the alt I was playing, and came up with another, one that fits with my initiative to write in-game songs that fit in that world. Of course, he had to be a bard, and he just happens to be a Gridanian. ogqGrE6lcaE Is this not the perfect song for a Gridanian bard?
  16. D'aww shucks. You know you my sister from another mister, girl.
  17. New song, based on RP of my alt character Fresh Bread's first time in Soliloquy and meeting Xenedra. She was kissed by fire, And I was kissed by her. Such intensity she held, The heat against my skin, I swore Ifrit raged inside. But no beast in her, Did I ever find. Only arms held open wide. She was held in luxury, And I was held by her. Me, a pilgrim to her lands, And she offered such comforts Touches soft as sweet whispers, But no rest with her, Would I ever find, Only softest sighs and purrs. One night of destiny, Our melodies so fine, Her purposes for me, I could not divine. She taught me new desire And then made me to stir, For she was kissed by fire, And I was kissed by her. I have chords for this one, I just need to pad it out a little.
  18. Thanks for watching, guys! Like I said in the stream, if you have any questions or anything feel free to ask.
  19. I APOLOGIZE PROFUSELY FOR THE DELAY! I just got home from work, and I probably should have done a dry run of getting this thing to work when I had time.
