I have been summoned. But man, snarky mages sound amazing. I AM HERE FOR THIS. If Ilan would have use for grimoires and tomes crafted, ancient texts restored, or books mended, then he might be interested in meeting Xavarian. He is also a mage, with.. a strangely large amount of Aether, though his specialties are geared more towards rituals as a whole while he works to study the more 'common' practices on Eorzea's surface. Xavarian is basically an awkward nerd, but he's incredibly patient (unless you destroy knowledge) with those who hold his company most of the time, so it's possible that he and Ilan might be able to get along. Granted, if they don't, it could be fun too. But yeah! If this sounds like someone you'd like Ilan to meet, I'd be glad to set up a time to RP with you (even both of you; Ashe and Xavarian have already met) if you're down. UPDATED THIS DUMB THING now with my alt, Yorumei Uranakei. ... He might honestly become my main, so this might change more whenever I figure it out. Also I AM IN THE EST TIMEZONE INDEFINITELY and just screaming in caps because it's exciting. I graduated, and have a decent amount of time on my hands for now, so I may start scouting people out for RPs and such soon. Otherwise, I'm more likely to be found in game on Yorumei now than Xavarian, because he took over my PVEing through Heavensward. We will see if he takes over the RPing aspect too.

Basically this. I've not been RPing a whole lot lately, (due to life and crazy alt leveling) but I think I've only RP'd in Ul'dah three times ever. Otherwise, my character will be out in the world somewhere. I've had RPs trying to get out of a sandstorm in Thanalan and going to some ruins for 'safety', up high on The Eyes in La Noscea, had an IC run through Wanderer's Palace, took a trip to the Ruins of Nym, nerdy wandering around Camp Bronzelake, some times looking for crystals at the Burning Wall, a number of rps exploring all manner of places in the Shroud, rp'd a few times nervously wandering around Limsa, an instance of getting sick in Mor Dhona, and being brought to a safehouse in Coerthas. And then there were the times where rituals are held in a cave, or things happened in the bookstore my character works at. And so on, and so forth. ... Basically, when I RP, just about everything happens outside of Ul'dah; there is so much more that my nervous nerd finds faaar more interesting than a crowded, noisy city.

This is such a neat thread; sooner or later, I'll tend to ask people (if it's not expressly stated somewhere) how to pronounce their characters' names. My main's name started out as something completely crazy that I adapted to FFXIV conventions later. The original base was Xsaiav'lairnn (much more of an 'elf' name) which was actually pronounced Ks-SAY-vel-air-nn. Post-Elezen conventions, it became Xavarian, and ended up going with the pronunciation Ks-say-VAIR-ee-en to still sound similar to the original concept. (however, in my head, I said it like Ks-sah-VAR-ee-en for the longest time. ICly, he doesn't really care much about mispronunciations either way.) Mystrife is said like MIST-reef-ff or MIST-riff-ff, that extra 'ff' being there to account for that.. weird silent e in French that draws the sound out a bit more, but doesn't really have much of a sound to go with it beyond a tiny little added 'breath' I guess. The difference between the 'ee' and the short-i sounds don't much matter either due to how quickly that end part is said. (Almost like the word 'Mischief'.) Yorumei takes on Japanese pronunciation rules and is basically Yo-roo-may, with a slight roll on the r.

Oh man, this seems amazing. Every sort of luck to you completing it, but I would definitely like to see it done too. *o* In terms of seeing ducks.. Actually, I know people were calling the birds in the Heavensward trailer 'doves' or what have you, but I've always thought they looked suspiciously like ducks myself, considering their yellow bills and size. Then again, gods know if they are just an ffxiv equivalent or something entirely different. Here is the link to the trailer just before the birds fly by, for anyone curious. Xavarian Yorumei (future Au Ra)

I've not been RPing that much lately (due to crazy life stuff and spending all in-game time preparing an alt for Heavensward) but! Xavarian is pretty much all of those things (sans body guard), as well as a tome-binder and a scribe. And in addition, it seems that if you're looking to RP with Ququki, that her and Xavarian also have the same mentor ICly too! (Professor Jigumundo Darkbore) It'd be neat to have them come together as fellow students and share theories / experiments and such. That said, if there's any particular time you'd like to get together to RP something, I'd be down for our two nerds to meet. uvu Though I'll note on my behalf, at least until June, I'll probably need to schedule a time to be on, (as opposed to 'just finding me in game', since.. well, I won't be findable) If you're interested in RPing though, that's no problem, and I'll just toss you a PM about it. :>

"You should get out of your room more often." "... for someone holed up in their room all day..." etc. Xavarian just hates this. Because 1) it implies people think he is in his workroom all day, squandering time, life in general, and not going out to see the world, when in fact he most certainly is out and about frequently, (just not when most people are awake,) and 2) it implies that they have any say about what he should or shouldn't be doing. Which, no. He does what he wants, you aren't his real dad. He will fight you with his pouting, nerdery, and accidental immolations, you can't tell him what to do. Even better was that every single time someone has said this to him he was never in his room. The lack of common sense baffles him. Xavarian's also real sick of loud noises of all kinds, but that probably won't be going away.

Eagle and Quill is already on the list! So as a super belated followup, instead of that TBD, I'd spoken with the FC leader a while back, and Xavarian Mystrife will be there for Eagle and Quill (and potentially said leader or one other, if they can make it; but I'm guessing likely not) unless something comes up.
