  1. So cute~! And really lovely - you're an excellent artist! I love Hachi by the look of her! ♥
  2. Cima's eyes flicked back and forth between the interested passengers before finally locking with the stare of the Miqo'te, Salaah. With a shared glance and Melle's cue, her ears and tail drooped sadly. "... He's real sick..." She chimed in a sorrowful tune, forcing her gaze to the dirt-floor and twining her fingers in a low prayer pose. "... We brought all the gil we had, but between this ferry ride and his expected medical expenses..." Cima sniffled suddenly and turned to the shoulder of her friend. "Ooooh! We never should've left him Melle, we shouldn't of! Why'd he have to get so... old!" She wailed miserably, drawing the fabric of Melle's sleeved arm into a fist and resting her head there - mostly to conceal the struggling composure of her face. It was hard not to crack a smile. She hoped the sailor was buying it.
  3. What if... Your single, main character is on both servers... and it's just your character in an alternate universe?! >;O Dunno, hope you're able to make up your mind though! I agree with your alt-problem - I'm same way. ._.
  4. "Mmmpph.... Melle! Really! Get your behind... movin'! There won't be no ships... ugh! by the time we get there... and it's a hell-of-a-lon' swim!" Cima grunted, pushing forwards with all her might. Her redheaded companion had stiffened into a stance of reluctant rigidity now that the docks were within view, and the Miqo'te was having a tough time getting the plank-of-a-Hyur up the sandy slope. (Humorously enough, parallel, heel-dug lines were being drawn in the wake of their stubborn struggle.) Between Melle's lamenting protests of the sea and the busy babble of dock-talk, Cima caught a shrill sound: "Passage to Limsa Lominsa, leaving at midnight! Any offer considered!-" A single ear flicked up as she listened... only to slap right back against her green head when she had heard enough. Abruptly, she stopped forcing the back of her friend - and had she not immediately grabbed Melle's hand to lead her to the call, the girl likely would've tipped in her board-like state directly backwards. "Over here, Melle! Feck payin' full price to visit this lazy bastard... let's haggle!" She bounced alongside Melle excitedly, roughly jostling people aside until they came upon the group. Falling to a stop shortly behind the cluster and releasing Melle's hand, Cima cast a side-long glance up at her partner. "We'll getcha a bucket." She proposed sympathetically before adding, "Gotta put your game face on now!" with her own best impression of said game face. And then she offered her ears to the bids.
  5. "Though there are ten suffixes listed above, rarely do even the largest Keeper of the Moon families have more than two or three sons. This is not by choice. Nature merely sees to it that more females are born to this race." This quote comes from the wiki on this site describing naming conventions for Moon males. In a case where you have significantly more of one gender than the other, monogamy is the exception rather than the rule. You could have a monogamous family to be sure (especially when two individuals forge a strong romantic bond), but there must be some sort of compromise in the society as a whole to deal with the lack of males. More likely is that the "tribes" (communities) consist of several closely related families of females. For example, I plan to have Myxie's tribe consist of Myxie's mother and siblings, Myxie's aunt's family, Myxie's grandmother, and two families of Myxie's distant cousins. The only males in the group are boys. Once they reach majority, wanderlust kicks in (and the fact that all the immediate females are closely related and well-known to them since childhood, thus not desirable mates). I remember reading somewhere that Moon males were particularly nomadic. My guess, and the way I'm playing Myxie's tribe, is that males wander around, occasionally visiting Moon communities. Receptive females breed with them, but don't really develop strong romantic ties, and the children are raised in a more communal manner with Aunts and Grandmothers aiding and filling in the father's role of alternate caretaker. If they all settled down or tried to enforce some sort of monogamous system, it would be monogamous in name only. There'd be a LOT of adultery in the form of females unable to find mates who weren't attached and a generally high amount of drama. Considering the two clans likely shared a breeding system at some point in the past before they diverged, I see no reason why monogamy would have developed when there is still a major gender gap. Thank-you very much, that was incredibly helpful! \o/ It gives me a better idea of how she was raised, and it makes sense that they wouldn't have the typical father-husband dealio when you put it like that. I'll treat it the way you suggested. Digging the female influence though!
  6. Really interesting and informative! Thanks for the various perspectives - who knew a Final Fantasy race could educate me on the ins and outs of breeding! Learn something new everyday. I have a question as well, relative to the Miqo'te Keeper families - may or may not have already been touched on, and if it has been I apologize! I was just curious - if the Keepers have family units that are less tribe-like in dynamic, does that mean that rather than sires and mothers, there is the regular ol' mother-father parentage? I was wondering about Cima's clan. Would her family be comprised of her mother-father, then her aunt's and uncle's children? They'd have several offspring each, but when it comes time to get settled down and continue the line, would the children get shipped/married off to other clans within the Shroud? Or would the family consist of a few different clan-names, and they're raised alongside their future mate and then split off to do their own thing? x.x Sorry if it seems vague - I can elaborate! I suppose I could take it either way if I wanted, but was just hoping for some opinions/insight!
  7. I noticed none of mine were saved to a folder either (unless they were and I'm daft - also likely), and I struggled getting screenshots at all at first. Discovered that Scroll Link clears the screen of clutter and that ctrl+alt+print screen took a snapshot. x.x If that helps any. Not sure how they got the Rights/Reserved stuff!
  8. Gah, I always thought about dying my hair a crazy color, but I never got around to it, work n'stuff. Lame. It's actually suuuupposed to be brown right now, but I had purple-over-orange hair before so it's faded to... that. T_T Now I'm just impatiently waiting for my roots to come in. And my hair's pretty fried. I've done: Was trying to be ambitious and do the rainbow, but I ended at purple 'cause it was a total mess. =_= And the other colours were more trouble than they were worth. Would probably only do orange again - but everyone notices bright orange hair, so you can't get away with anything. But yeah, the workplace can be pretty unimaginative. >;/ Also everyone at the RPC is a darned ka-yootie! Not to be confused with coyote. Q. T.
  9. Edit - Meant this to be a PM, but I guess I'm tired and clicked the wrong button! 8D; *Rolls with it* Sorry if I made your thread less spiffy. ._. \o/ Hello there! I was just wondering - would I be able to apply to Rosa? At the time of ARR, Cima's been working through her friend's pawnshop and acquiring/exchanging all sorts of goods. She's fond of shinies, and seems like she may fit the bill! x3 Feel free to direct me somewhere if I need to write up a formal application and what-not! :3
  10. Welcome to the RPC! Don't worry about introductions - I'm sure we'll get to know you just fine! Everyone's super friendly here, which should cancel out the shy bit too! And my rule of thumb is to never say no to a hot meal. 8D
  11. A wild Kitty Wizard appears! Uses... Splash!
  12. Got into beta!8DD Any and all of Cima is subject to change but... yay! \(^-^)/
  13. Beautiful art~! ♥♥♥ *Applaudapplaud* You really do have an intriguing style - I second other's opinions with a desire to see more! And I find that I normally just doodle faces too, bodies can be frustrating and proportions... funky. Don't get clothes. Don't. Get them.
  14. Will probably end up keeping the physical copy just to has, but... Even though my old email messed up my chance in beta, I still remember my account name and such for logging into the Square Enix thingie. I updated my email so further announcements should be sent to my current information... I believe. I'm just wondering then - if I have my 1.0 account and it gets upgraded to ARR automatically... and I preordered an additional copy... Is there a way to link the two? Or will my 1.0 account + the upgrade and new ARR copy be seperate? x_x Thanks guys for the help though guys! Darn my impulsiveness and not reading the fine print. D; I'll probably end up calling anywho... even though anonymous voices are scary and it's the weekend so... patience. ._. *Fidgets*
  15. "Players who own FFXIV version 1.0 will not need to purchase the PC version of FFXIV: ARR and will be able to download the FFXIV: ARR software for free. * Details on downloading the FFXIV: ARR software will be provided at a later date." ;_; So wait. I preordered FFXIV:ARR for the PC... for no reason? I bought the Collector's one again so I could play early... ;; I'm not sure... what to do here. e_e I mean I'd rather have a physical copy than a digital download... unless by having the original game I can download at any point (ex. if I switch computers or something gets wiped, etc. I lost Aion for those reasons, though I'm sure if I pursued it I could download it again.) I didn't get the invitation for the beta testing either because my 1.0 account was linked to an old email that apparently doesn't exist anymore and can't be accessed... ; ANYWAYS, did I spend $80 for no darn good reason? TT.TT *Requires reassurance*
  16. Welcome to the RPC, and I just wanted to say: a dealer character!!!!!! x Infinite amount of exclamation points. If you're interested or nottt ( that's alright too... ;_; ) I have a character that's supposed to be a runner for such sketchy characters. If you're interested! o/ But yeah, totally welcome and make yourself at home! :3

    Collan 2.0

Welcome back, and I'm jealous about the beta thingie! ;_; I miss Eorzea and would love 10 minutes in character creation. Not too sure about the Eorzean lore... there's been helpful bits posted on the forum and on the wiki, but I feel less than confident in my knowledge of Hydaelyn - and my character's supposed to be into history. e_e
  18. I'm turning 19 in a couple of weeks and I got into 1.0 when I turned 16 or something. I super-admired this role-play community at the time (and still talk about it fondly!) due to it being close-knit, yet big-ish, and so helpful and friendly! A really fun community to be a part of. I'm shy though... even though your anonymous on the internet. So even when I play MMOs I'm generally a silent-player. Hope to be more talkative this time around! I've been role-playing since I was ten or so, though probably butchered the art. It was in habbo hotel (lawls) and I played with other dorky teens that we were Final Fantasy characters - I was Yuna. Got really fast at typing from our real-time text-battles and tragic conflicts. Then we moved onto a forum on piczo where we created a world, antagonists... It was pretty neat. Nerdy and lame, but that's the neatest. And it's been 9 years and I still have contact with most of them! I guess I used to take acting lessons when I was little: played out stuff from Through the Looking Glass and what-not but my charisma since then has... flopped. Pretended to be an elven princess growing up with horse-bicycles and [wooden] swords/bows? Faeries have, and always will be, a thing. At 11 I really wanted FFXI among other MMOs but... can't afford much on an 11-year-old's allowance. Then my brother got WoW (which I had a super prejudice against until playing) and that's how I discovered role-playing in these sorts of games! I've played Aion, Tera and Guild Wars 2 since then and love text-based RP. Still gotta get around to the table-top stuff - my friends are trying to get me into DMing to make the fantasy possible. Fun fact, I lost contact with a role-play companion from World of Warcraft (years ago) and rediscovered him in Guild Wars 2 in October. We're just as chummy as we once were (small world, ain't it?), and I'm bummed he's not going to try out FFXIV!
  19. I think Roegadyn are plenty pretty, just as all the others are! But people'll play whatever race allures them, and you gotta remember that the internet is infatuated with cats! I'm starting off with a Miqo'te, but that isn't to say I'm not going to fiddle around with the other races. x3 I have a super-thing for elves, so I'll probably roll an Elezen as well. Just waiting to get into char. customization, really.
  20. I. Basic Info Characters: Yumeko Dreamcatcher, Fae Veera Primary Character: Yumeko Dreamcatcher Linkshells: N/A Primary Linkshell: N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I'm a light-medium role-player with a desire for more (much more!) immersion. I love to /Em a wall of text, too. Views on RP combat and injuries: All for it - I'm a big fan of action. I believe in a turn-based system where the attacks made on another character are left open-ended (ex. I aim a punch towards Jon Do.) I can handle the idea of injuries on my character(s) too, but I would prefer OC communication if there's a risk of permanent crippling, maiming or, well... death. Views on IC romance: Nothing against it (crushes are cute~) and people will do as they will, but I'd prefer communication when it comes to romantic interests in my characters. And my character is separate from me. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Whether it's "organic" or predetermined, I'm always looking for character ties, connections and friends so don't be shy! Establishing family in the game would be neat, but again, it's really just about the communication! Views on lore: I am not a role-play elitist constantly fact-checking your work (I am not your Mother or your teacher, just a friend), but I do believe in adhering to the guidelines, norms and traditions provided by the game's lore (it's fun!). I can appreciate rules, certainly, but I am more interested in the capacity for fantastical fun in an imaginary universe and admiring other people's sparkly story-telling skills. Basically, no OP Mary-Sue, vampire-neko-types, and I can say we're cool. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Whispers for me will mostly be OC unless specified otherwise (ex. /Tell can be used for IC whispering amongst a crowd). /Say will depend on if the other player seems IC or not. (())'s help. /Linkshell will depend on if the LS is IC or OC, as linkpearls can be used as an IC tool for communication (this can also be why /Tell is IC if necessary). I /Emote for expression of my character, and I tend to put what they'd /Say in there too. III. Other Info Country: Canada. Time-zone: EST UTC-5? Availability for discussion with interested persons. Contact Info: Inbox me through this site or via IG - Mogmail or /tell. Please respect how I wish to play, and I shall respect yours. ...We are allowed to avoid one another, though.
  21. I think Fhae would have to be a mouse: small, timid, self-reliant, street-smart, hoarder... Edit: Or a bat, having considered that more! Intuitive, spiritual, creative... darkness-dweller, "batty"...
  22. Between your choice of music, and your Leon signature, I think I just developed a small crush on you. Thank-you kind sir, hopefully you'll dig Fhae too then!
  23. Cima Fhae Everybody wants to be a cat, because a cat's the only cat who knows where it's at.

    *Waffling*

Thanks Remi~! :moogle: Glad to be back - it'll be fun to give Eorzea another try! Plus, kitty girls. Dunno how I can go wrong there. (And nobody better tell me *bliss*)
