OOC drama and the RP community. (A rant)
Nelson Herrmann replied to LadyRochester's topic in RP Discussion
Hahahaha my man just set them on fire -
It is terribly wrong to claim that you have an advantage on someone JUST because of your in-game level. It hinders the roleplay possibilities for low-level characters. Your level doesn't have anything to do with your roleplay, other than glamour/ weapon varieties. This shouldn't even be a topic to discuss.

Will contact you in-game once I get my character sorted out! Gotcha! I'm thinking about the same thing. Maybe, a tribe reunion or something like that? It sounds fun. And as far as I know, the massacre occurred recently, although they didn't clarify that just yet. I'll get in touch with you once my character is sorted out in game!

Dogshin and Qadan will get along just fine, since they're from the same tribe! Read -this- for some information about Dogshin. Maybe, we could roleplay something like a reunion?

I'm willing to roll an Au Ra from the Hotgo tribe. Dogshin is one of the few survivors of the Dotharl massacre. During the mass murder, he was sent out with a group of his brothers to gather supplies for the locals. A little bit about Dogshin: He is a twenty six years old Au Ra, who lived by the old standards: hunt, eat, live and love. His skin is darker compared to his brothers. He was known by a good part of his tribe for his accomplishments and contributions. He is quite tall and muscular, just like the vast majority of his tribe, due to years of work and hunting. What he lacks in aether energy and education, he makes up for in manpower. He is intelligent, calm, and easy going, regardless of his lack of education, unlike the rest of her brothers. He is a loyal person but laid back at the same time. He is a skilled swordsman. Due to his poor eyesight, he prefers close quarters combat. After the slaughter of his tribe, he resorted to Ul'dah, in hopes of coming across other survivors. He doesn't wear face paint in public and hides his identity in order to avoid conflict with other tribes. -- I tried to keep the backstory brief for better and slower development, since the lore is still getting rounded up. I am easy to approach, so, don't hesitate to contact me for some RP! I'll try to get my character sorted out in game as soon as possible. I'd like to plan a plot/ do a walk-up. My schedule is pretty flexible. I am looking for: employers, wanderers, extraordinaires, fellow tribe members and other people to roleplay with! I am OK with making enemies but for now, Dogshin will avoid conflicts and lay low until he links up with his tribe once again. Thank you for reading!

Could you add Dogshin Hotgo to the list, aswell?

balmung Lala-Obsessed Girl Seeking Help!!!
Nelson Herrmann replied to SM Nick's topic in Chronicled Connections
Well said. I always cry a little when I see threads like this. Not to be an a hole, but it's best to build your relationships in-character. It's funnier that way -
Technically all you have to do to be a Scholar is find a tablet of Nym and/or crystal with a fairy in it. Make it plausible and not too many people will freak out about. Are those things hard to find? And how do people learn to control their fairies? They exist, but you need to be digging in the right places. The class quests should give you an idea when you reach them. Controlling the faerie is going to be a personal challenge; It's like asking how people train their pets. Not everyone finds it to work the same way, and faeries can have their own personalities, too. That's so interesting! I'll try and make myself an alt after making some research. Sounds like a funny concept.

Just think of it as if you're in real life. Ask all those questions to yourself and go in for the kill. If you bother yourself too much, you won't be able to do it!

Sure thing! I'm a little messed up right now, although I'll send you a PM tomorrow. Still looking for more. It's the best if we can reach around atleast 6-8 people to start with. -
I've created a thread about this. What do you guys think of the concept? It's something real unique in my opinion and I'd appreciate the single bit of contribution you do! Here's a link. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=9098 The point of this thread is to rant about the concept, not promoting it. If you'd like to take part, you can always go on and write it all out on the thread I've made. Did anyone come up with something like this before? I do know that Sultanswarm shares a similiar concept, although a community makes progress without hieararchy. A community is a tighter knit.

I'd like to start a small foundation consisting of dedicated heavy roleplayers. Due to the lack of unique concepts in the public roleplay scheme of FFXIV, I've decided to come up with an idea. What is a lawful-neutral character? A lawful neutral character is a character that acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to her. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government, a group. Lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society. Those of this alignment view regulation as all-important, taking a middle ground betwixt evil and good. This is because the ultimate harmony of the world--and the whole universe--is considered by lawful neutral creatures to have its sole hope rest upon law and order. Evil or good are immaterial beside the determined purpose of bringing all to predictability and regulation. It is the view of this alignment that law and order give purpose and meaning to everything. Without regimentation and strict definition, there would be no purpose in the cosmos. Therefore, whether a law is good or evil is of no import as long as it brings order and meaning. Lawful neutral beings believe in a strong, well-ordered government, whether that government is a tyranny or benevolent democracy. The benefits of organization and regimentation outweigh any moral questions raised by their actions. Lawful neutral beings will uphold the law regardless of whether it is considered just or not. If the majority of the population disagrees with the practices of the government, then they must use legal means of getting those laws changed. Rebellion is a crime regardless of the purpose behind revolt. In their day-to-day affairs, lawful neutrals will adhere to the laws of the area they are in, and will also maintain their own sense of honor. They are respectful to both their leaders and their peers. Subordinates will be treated as is due their station within society. Written contracts and verbal agreements will be honored by these characters. They will not break their word or a contract unless there is a legal way to do so. Lawful neutral beings are concerned with the letter of the law, but rarely the spirit. These characters also respect the idea of station in life. They will act as they should, given their station. The lawful neutral being normally sees law and order as of prime importance, with the well-being of the group put ahead of the individual on almost every occasion. Such persons see good and evil as immaterial and unimportant in the structuring of the universe into perfect order and harmony, in which lies society's only hope for survival. Whether a law is good or evil is of no import as long as it brings order and meaning. Thus, personal gratification of needs and desires is well and fine, as long as this doesn't interfere with the ultimate ordering of the cosmos; all other considerations are secondary. Life, to the lawful neutral being, has no meaning without order, and is thus expendable when faced with the choice between it and harmony. A lawful neutral character will keep his word if he gives it and will never lie. He may attack an unarmed foe if he feels it necessary. He will never harm an innocent. He may use torture to extract information, but never for pleasure. He will never kill for pleasure, only in self-defense or in the defense of others. A lawful neutral character may use poison as long as poison use is not illegal. He will help those in need only to advance the social order. He prefers to work with others. He responds well to higher authority, is trustful of organizations, and will always follow the law. He will never betray a family member, comrade, or friend. Lawful neutral characters respect the concepts of self-discipline and honor. Here's some information about my own character. Nelson is a battle bruised, tough figure around his late teens. A socially awkward statue, he doesn't like to engage in conversations and takes a negative approach upon the society. Nelson is a part of Maelstrom's foreign affairs, dishing out reinforcements to other companies in need. He's known for his quiet, care-free attitude. His inner circle consists of a few people that he communicates frequently with. It's known that Nelson lost his wife due to an incurable disease back in calamity. He's a brave leading figure, often seen around the city of Uld'ah and Gridania. Nelson's mindset is to promote unlimited order in society and help the needy if such action advances law and order. If you're still interested in the concept after considering this bulk of information, it requires alot of dedication and patience. If I can manage to get enough attraction, I'll write a big plot with my fellows and take it as far as I can while providing realistic, fun, unique roleplay. Take that from events like bounty hunts to off-duty relationships and synergies inbetween people, and just japery in general. I'm waiting for your support. Let's make it happen, people!

balmung Looking for an amateur adventurer group
Nelson Herrmann posted a topic in Chronicled Connections
I recently created a conjurer for myself. I'm looking forward to roleplay with a different concept. I'd like to link up with a group of teenagers and progress my character with them. Take that from an amateur swordsman to a cleric apprentice. I really think that it'd be unique to make something like that happen. Pelhi'a is a quiet, socially awkward figure in his early-mid teens. One who has dedicated his life to studying, he currently works as a local cleric dishing out help to ones in need. I could have wrote four paraghraphs of information, but I'd rather develop my character through IC means. I'm bored of the public, mainstream roleplay scheme and I take a positive approach upon heavy roleplay. I would expect the same from anyone else who's willing to roleplay with me. I'm online around latenights-mornings for PST, 12AM-10PM for GMT. I'd like to limit the group with six people. No race nor gender restrictions. If you're willing to take part, I'd like you to leave a brief information about your character's traits like I did on this post, so other people can see what're they getting into if they're looking forward to roleplay aswell. It'd be much better if you can come up with a gimmick that's different than the others. I'm looking forward for your replies. Don't hesitate to write it down here if you're willing to take part. Thanks in advance! -
Maelstrom officers, Yellowjackets, and capital R Rogues
Nelson Herrmann replied to Dogberry's topic in Chronicled Connections
While admittedly not as blatantly alive and flourishing as the RP scene in Ul'dah, it is certainly alive and existent. There are any number of reasons why it's not as obvious or out in the open as other cities (no, I'm not trying to make this a city vs. city thread again), many of which were discussed in several other threads on this forum. However, as has been stated numerous times in this thread alone, there are several linkshells and FCs devoted to and working within Limsa Lominsa. Beyond that, there are several "non-affiliated" (those not in a linkshell or FC pertaining to Limsa RP, specifically or not) characters looming about as well. If you're looking for an RP scene where people are elbow to elbow as they stand around a railing much like in the Quicksand, you'll not find it in Limsa... at least not at this point in time. However, if you're not finding the RP that does exist in Limsa, I might suggest joining the linkshell that many of the posters in this thread are a part of... or even PM'ing them and getting involved with the myriad of stories and plot lines taking place within and around Limsa. It's not a matter of "knowing where to look" so much as "looking in more than just the Wench". ((Sorry about any formatting issues... my iPad hates this site for some reason.)) Maybe it's my timezone being terrible compared to other roleplayers. I might aswell just get affiliated with a couple of linkshells. I like the Limsa's Finest one. It'd fit for a group of privateers.
