I don't believe it's going to be any different on another server. As far as I know, FFXIV doesn't have data centers in Europe. Even the European servers are physically located within the US.

Thanks for the help! I had a look at the Lodestone (I didn't even know they had an item database as well), and now I'm conflicted I really like the chest armour from the Immortal Flames, but I also really like the daggers from the Maelstrom. I'm going to have to think on this some more.

With me being a bit appearance-obsessed (MMOs are the best games of dress-up ever made), part of my decision for which Grand Company to join will be based on how their armour set looks. However I seem to be having some issues with finding images of them, aside from the 'regular' ones. Does anyone have any images on how they look? Preferably for the non-tank melee classes.

I did my first three dungeons today (Woo, I'm slowly graduating from being a nubling!), and while the first two went without a hitch (and even got some commendation points for it!), the third was a bit... annoying. Now I am a Rogue, so in general I don't have much to get annoyed at, but this Archer just wouldn't stay still. Kept pulling instead of waiting for the tank, kept shooting at enemies that the tank was not focusing on, randomly goes afk in the middle of fights. Aargh, it got on my nerves so badly.

What timezone do you operate in? I've only just started playing so it may be a while before I am able to even do end-game dungeons, but it can't hurt to look into it already.

From what I've seen in the very short time I've been on Balmung, you can come across RP at any moment of the day. I've actually been rather impressed by it, I haven't seen a server before that truly was active almost 24/7.

Sounds like they are trying to relevel their BLMs. That's what I figured as well. Since so many of their accounts were banned, they had to make new accounts and characters. But since Balmung is closed almost all the time, there was only one time they could create a new character, so they all ended up doing it at the same time.

And it is closed again. It stayed open surprisingly long, though I suspect it'll stay closed surprisingly long now as well. I hope everyone who wanted to get on managed to do so at least.

Not quite sure what's going on here but... I'm guessing bots. And I hate bots. Especially ones that get in my way.

Keep an eye out for when maintenance ends! That's usually a good time to get in as well! Don't worry! Mhm, I'll be keeping an eye out, though I suspect I won't be able to log in when maintenance ends. Not being at home until 1½ hour after maintenance ends may end up being a problem. But who knows! I may get lucky!

Thanks for the welcome! I decided to create an entirely new character, since I wasn't really sure what I intended to do with my old one. I'll leave it hanging around in case I get an idea later. I've just reached level 16 as a Pugilist, went to Limsa Lominsa for the first time, and am now stuck wondering whether I want to continue as a Pugilist, or switch to a Rogue instead. Decisions, decisions... As for the server I'm playing on, it's currently Cactuar. Since Balmung appears to be permanently locked down, and I didn't feel like wasting my gametime, I just started on a different server. I'll probably transfer to Balmung as soon as Paypal is back as a payment option (or when I figure out another method of paying that doesn't involve a credit card). Anyway! Even though I'm playing on a faraway server, I'll still be hanging around here. For my character, I decided to go for something simple, since I don't know the lore well enough yet. I've given my character a goal and have a vague idea as for what kind of person he is, and I'll figure the rest out as I go along. Winging it!

Main reason I want to get in Balmung instead of Gilgamesh is because I already have a character on Balmung, I like to have all characters on one server. I think I'll wait until tomorrow, and if I can't get in then, just give up on it and join another random server. I rather not pay for a subscription and then sit around waiting for a server to open up.

Morning! New person here! I just started playing FFXIV again, after having played for a short time back when it first released. Figured I'd see how much it has improved since then. Had some good memories from V1.0, even though I didn't play as much due to the gameplay and environments boring me at times. No idea what else to say, so o/

I just started playing (or attempting to at least), but it seems it's incredibly difficult getting into this server. I figured because I already had a character on Balmung from V1.0, I'd be able to create characters on the server, but apparently not. I thought about just playing on another server and then transfer later, but I discovered they don't accept Paypal anymore, which is my only way of paying. Which means transferring is out of the question. Is there any other reliable way to get on the server without having to waste weeks of game-time by not playing?
