  1. This isn't really completely relevant to the topic, but thank you for posting about it! I had no idea that Roegadyn had their own selection of words up on the internet! Time to do some studying.
  2. Shuck has been/is my mentor in all game and RP scenes. Aahaha! ...You have no idea.
  3. Oh! I forgot one. Rift is going to be F2P soon and they extended the free weekend until the date... so it's essentially free now. I'm messing around on it here and there. It has some pretty interesting concepts and I really love the range of classes and how much you're allowed to (or not) dive into them.
  4. I'm not sure if I missed out on joining the DOL/H group, but I seen that you were looking for Roegadyns and Bea happens to be one and a Fisher, at that! ...In any case, I will be stalking this thread as all the characters are being drawn, 'cause they're all gorgeous.
  5. Pffff, why not? Don't be shy!
  6. I. Basic Info Characters:Beatric Reid Primary character: Beatric Reid Linkshells: Just Misericorde at the moment, though I'm open to joining up with other Linkshells if it fits with the character and... well, myself. Primary RP linkshell: Misericorde II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): In all honesty, it depends on the situation. There will be days where all that I do will be entirely in character, and others where I enjoy some out of character banter along with the tales being weaved. However, I find that I become least interested when RP happens when characters are all sitting around doing nothing. I like go out and experience the game world with the characters that I'm involved with. I find that the RP experience tends to be a lot more genuine compared to the "bar scene". Views on RP combat and injuries: I'm not against it, but it's not something that I go crazy for. It kind of takes the experience away when rolls an involved, but as I stated before, I'm not against it. As for injuries, I guess it depends on the kind? As someone who plays a healer type, it's usually my job to fix people up after taking any kind of damage, but more times than not I prefer to simply to give a light patch up rather than simply healing all the wounds away so the character is still allowed to work with said wound but not be out of commission, and still not pulling any ALL FIXED crap. Views on IC romance: Romance is something that I find deeply personal and not something I would up throw in with someone I barely know. Typically said romances are worked out beforehand and even then, the characters at first glance wouldn't even appear to be a couple. I prefer very quite relationships, if they happen at all. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I'm not against them, but the farthest I've gone with that is a sort of family bond with a group that's worked together for a long period of time and has BECOME like family. Of course, close friends and partners are always welcome if they fit well with Bea. I let that sort of stuff just happen naturally. Views on lore: I think Lore is very important, but I also think interpreting it your own way is also very important. Just like how history works in the real world, there are a lot of people who believe and stand by different things, even if they may or may not be true. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Typically, I like to keep IC in say. Linkshells can vary from being entirely OOC, entirely IC, or a bit of both. And Party is usually OOC for myself. On a somewhat of the same vein, I think it's important to keep RP out in the open as much as possible. III. Other Info Country: United States Timezone: Central Contact info: Forum, in game, or Skype. 7. To be honest, if I was able to talk to my younger self out of getting a Cintiq, I probably would have done it. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's an amazing product, but there are so many things out now that are SO MUCH CHEAPER that do the EXACT same thing and a lot of better things ( like.. I dunno. being able to move it away, being able to rest it on your lap without being crushed, not put you in a painful amount of debt, etc.) So, here're some cheaper alternatives you guys might want to look in to. Yiynova Bosto Kingtee Galaxy Note 10.1 The Galaxy Note was actually designed with intentions of rivaling Wacom. Not many people know about it, but it actually has a great selection of art programs and a pretty pen sensitivity. I'm actually planning on getting one for myself for traveling purposes at some point. ...But, yeah. You get the idea. Also, you guys have some pretty sexy art stations. I need to start decorating my room/desk with more art and stuff.
  8. 'Cause I'm a sucker for seeing how other people do things. We've got so many artistic people here on the board, so share where you make the magic happen. Here's mine! (Ignore the mess)
  9. BLASPHEMY. Seriously, though. I loved the idea behind The Secret World. In Theory, it was game just made for myself and Misericorde. The problem is that the founding idea behind it only truly stayed around for Solomon island (which I still absolutely adore). I mean, Egypt was kind of interesting, but I didn't really feel like it belonged in the game. And Transylvania was only interesting in Besieged Farmlands where we at least got to meet some interesting mythological creatures before diving head first into a shit ton of vampire and werewolf territory. Ugh, it was awful. With that being said, I uninstalled it for the time being. I'm still keeping a close eye out on it, and have every intention on going back when new content is released, but I usually breeze through that shit in day. Also, I'd like to note, what the hell are the devs doing with the clothing options? They started out alright, but lately they've just been going off the deep end. *Ahem* ... Wall 'o text.
  10. I personally feel that it's as terrible as it has been at launch. Everyone's still playing sexy Harry Potter, and RP typically just consists of lots of hanging out in a bar, talking about how demon possessed they are. (True story) It's a large reason why I don't really play much at all anymore.
  11. I'm happy that I've been kicking my own ass to get back to drawing regularly, and that the people here help motivate and inspire me to continue to do so. I'm happy that I'm also getting back into reading every day. I'm happy that soon it'll be 9 years with someone who constantly challenges and accepts me, opens my mind to new ideas, and has been there for me through thick and thin. I'm also happy that I'll be having a 3 month vacation with said person in a couple of weeks. c: I'm also happy that after years of dreaming about it, I finally got enough courage to get a pixie hair cut and I have no regrets. I'm also happy that I have a place now where I can come and chat up some pretty awesome people. Same on that.
  12. LOL, yeaaaah. There are no action bars in XI, but lots and lots of macros that you have to make yourself, otherwise you'd have to manually select each ability and item that you wanted to use at the time... I think the default for movement was something like... the fucking arrow keys and then the number pad? Something really messed up like that. You can change the settings around a bit, if I remember correctly. But, the game is really old and has a weird interface. I'd suggest looking up some guides online to help you transition a little better. Ahhh good times with the FFXI controls. Every time I pick that game back up after quitting for a few months/years I have to sit down and stare at it for about ten minutes and figure out what the hell is going on. Haha, agreed! I'm always left screaming "WHAT AM I DOING?!". It's an amazing game, though. Don't let the funky interface or slow combat detour you from the years, and years of amazing content. ...Speaking of which, I can't believe they put out another expansion already. I want a development team as dedicated as FFXI's!

    Ayo!

Hey there and welcome to the board! It's nice to see how many people are becoming interested in getting into FFXIV RP. Lookin' forward to seeing you in game!

  15. More doodles! A couple of these are a little old, but I never actually got around to doing anything with them. Secret World characters, FFXI mithra body type study, 'cause that bitch be strong. Angry face man.
  16. Because I know I'm an impatient person, here're the noteworthy parts that in game footage is shown: 21:14 - Couerl mount shown 25:02 - Housing stuff. 45:49 - Catch a glimpse of the content finder. 51:08 - HOLY HELL. What is this place? 58:24 - Combat! Chocobo Companion in action! 1:08:40 - A glimpse at the character creator again. 1:30:02 - Controller combat. 1:42:15 - Facial emotes in use. Everything else is just a bunch of stuff we've already seen. Still pretty awesome! I'm totally pumped to start playing this.
  17. The animations they added to WHM were a huge deal for me! Considering how we used to basically just stand there and move one arm it's awesome to see them whipping the staff around with the wind blowing the robes and stuff.~ I suppose so! Perhaps it was a little over looked on my end because of how tiny that WHM is. I'll have to watch it again in HD to get the full effect.
  18. A pretty straight forward question. Are you guys playing anything now, or looking forward to any other MMOs aside from 14? I'm a bit of a MMO vagabond, even without waiting for 14, I'm constantly playing and looking forward to the newest MMO. But, currently I'm mainly playing Guild Wars 2 (Tarnished Coast server), with a little bit of Lord of the Rings Online and The Secret World from time to time. As far as MMOs I'm looking forward to... At the smack dab top of my list is WildStar, followed by Black Desert, and The Elder Scrolls Online. And waaaaay off in the unforeseeable future (...or maybe never) Monster Hunter Online.
  19. Even though my suggestions have all been mentioned, I'll just add in agreement. GW2 and LOTRO are pretty much where it's at for RP while I'm waiting for FF14 to relaunch, though I think LOTRO tends to have more public RPs, and GW2 likes to keep within groups of people who know each other/ are in the same linkshell. Either way, good stuff all around.
  20. Yeeeah! I was re-watching it today and I just noticed how much BLM moves around when casting compared to the WHM. Pretty cool! That being said, I'm pretty happy with the glow of the staff when the WHM casts, but the animations are nothing special. Now if only we could get a little sneak peak of Scholar and Summoner animations...
  21. Culinarian's AF is ADORABLE. I definitely agree that this adds some really nice motivation to crafting. I know someone who was just made for some parts of the Blacksmith and Armorer outfits.
  22. I'm really hoping they do something really fun and different. I'd be pretty happy if they went with something along the lines of Arithmetician from Tactics. I'm really worried about seeing another another mage that just ends up doing the same thing. (Thau, Con...)
