This topic has honestly been something that I've been very concerned about in the past. I'm skipping naming names, but I know there were a few people who insisted on keeping everything within the LS meeting 100% private. Right now there's actually a large portion of the meeting cut off right in the middle of the conversation and given the above information, I can't help but feel off about it. If it's room you're worried about, feel free to just attach the whole conversation as a .rtf and let people skim through any side chatter themselves. Even if anything said isn't relevant to the topic at hand, I still think it should be seen by the public, as this is a gathering of leaders. I do think that keeping specific names out of the conversation when discussing something that might be a problem is a reasonable action, but anything else being removed is pretty much unwanted on my end.

Expressing interest! This would definitely give me a huge bump in wanting to craft on a regular basis.

 I feel you there, no doubt. A lot of people within RP communities tend to take my directness as a sort of hostility, when in reality I'm actually a pretty shy and timid individual. It's actually pretty amusing to see. In any case, welcome to the board!

Shiiiit, dude. I was waiting for you to show up! I can't wait to have you back on the TERRIBRU Train. Awesome! Either Shuck or myself will be in contact with you via PMs shortly! Also, I wouldn't worry about getting on to Balmung. It just isn't an option during beta, but otherwise you'll have no troubles.

...Really? Again, I find myself completely baffled over how stating an OPINION and ASKING OTHERS ON THEIR INPUT would be viewed as an attack at all. Anyway, you'll notice that all of these things that were said above by myself were said with an "I think" or "In my opinion" or anything along the lines of "to me". In no stretch of the imagination was this an attack, unless you were purposely looking for something to sore about. I honestly could care less if you want your character to look pretty. I'm not saying you're bad for making them pretty, I'm not saying your character sucks for making them pretty, but I AM saying that I wouldn't go out of my way to make MY character look pretty within the world. Do whatever the hell you want with yours. (I can't believe we have to come back to the "Do whatever you want with your character" topic AGAIN.) Really? 'Cause I've got several people (yet again) jumping down my throat for stating my opinion and wanting to have an open discussion about character appearances. You don't think that this kind of hostile response from a number of people wouldn't warrant my just saying "fuck it" and leaving to community? 'Cause if I were more sensitive to people like I use to, I really would have by now. The fact that people can't speak their mind is chasing people off, because said people are so worried about saying the "wrong thing" and having someone flip their shit over nothing. However, that's not going to stop me. Nope. I'm not going to walk on eggshells; I'm just not. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the title and nothing wrong with my opening post, because none of it is an attack and anything is completely imagined. You could say that I should have worded it better, but it's pretty much impossible to come up with a topic that makes everyone happy.

I'd like to note (even though it's been said already) that this discussion isn't an attack on people who enjoy playing pretty characters. I've only expressed my preference to rough looking characters. If you personally like the look of pretty characters, that's fine! But, please don't try to play victim where there is no attack. Suggesting that people are only allowed to have any kind of "anime inspired" character as far as look within the game because it's what you prefer is crazy, and the "my way or no way" mentality needs to be erased. I agree here! I'd like to see a lot more scars and roughness for female characters. I know there are a couple of scar options, but they're so small that you can barely even see them at all. With that being said, there are a few options you and mess around with in make up that make your character look more sleep deprived or dirty... So, I guess that's a small plus?

MODERATOR'S NOTE: As some of you may be aware, this thread was previously locked due constant argument. As per member requests, we've decided to reopen the thread with the off-topic posts removed. We ask that you try to move on with the discussion and avoid off topic bickering. Should this thread get out of hand once more, it will be locked again indefinitely. So please, be courteous and give each other the benefit of the doubt. Thank you. This topic was brought up in the race selection thread, and I actually got a few people commenting on how my mentality of being a rough bitch visually is refreshing to see. But, this kind of confused me, because I personally feel that it shouldn't be that foreign of a concept. Pretty characters in a rough world just come off as very unrealistic to me. Especially in a game that has you going out into the wilderness, fighting monsters that're larger than life and at times even killing people to survive. As I had mentioned in this other thread, I'm not saying that attractive people shouldn't exist. But, looking fresh faced and bug eyed just doesn't seem to fit the world, unless they're absolutely new to the world of doing any kind of work. Plus, the character models within the game are pretty attractive from the get go; I see no need to add on to that. So, what are your thoughts on it?

Well if that's not the coolest shit I've read all day... Really though, looking dirty and mean is so underrated these days. My last touch-up to Uther was adding in the blush from the face paint option and coloring it gray to make his face look dirty. Haven't decided if I want to keep it yet. I totally agree! It's to the point where when I see characters that people consider beautiful or ..."sexy" I can't help but cringe. Mostly because I kind of feel like they don't really have a place in the world. Not to say that there can't be attractive characters, but I largely think that even the most blandest of characters are going to look a little pretty mostly because of how the character models are done. But, I mean... We're out getting shit done. It'd be pretty much impossible to look as pristine as some characters might suggest, unless they're spending all of their time hanging out in the city and nothing else. But, uh. Sorry for the derail there.

Ahh, bbs! Unfortunately, I don't have photos with me of all of my pets, but I do have the one. Pi, my Quaker Parrot Other than that, I have a calico cat, and two dogs.

To put it simply, I really enjoy playing a female that looks like a rough bitch. Originally I went with the miqo'te because I thought they would be more like the mithra in FFXI, what with having a more feral look to them, but such was not the case. The female Roe look strong, large, and not entirely super feminine (unless you work to make them look as such), so they quickly caught my eye.

There seems to be so many performers, or even hobbyist in the way of music, and it had me wondering... What kind of instruments do your characters play? Obviously there's the in game harp, but we don't tend to stick too closely to that sort of thing. For Bea... She isn't much of performer as much as a hobbyist. I was looking around through my collection of odd instruments until I came across one that fit her perfectly: The Hurdy Gurdy! While not typically in the taste of the local citizenry, Bea loves the hell out of the way it sounds and how fun it is to play. ...Also, I'm pretty sure this thing is only making songs that sounds like dirges, and that's just perfect.

Marmot roasted over a campfire! ...No, really. Bea made it for Misericorde a ton back in 1.0 due to being dirt poor and marmots being readily available. But, even after coming into some money she's acquired a taste of it, much to the dismay of her fellow team mates.

Bard looove~ Bea isn't really much of a Bard IC as much as she is someone who tends to shout mostly untrue stories about people... But, OOC, I've mostly been playing Bard as my class. SMN will probably lessen that a tiny bit, but it'll always be one of my favorites.

Yeeeah. I was happy to find out the launch wasn't too far off from when I'd be returning, so I won't miss TOO much. It's definitely some encouragement to get my ass back to my computer. But, thank you! -
Doho! I know how this feels! When I started playing FFXIV, I probably had to keep the settings on medium. This drove me absolutely insane as I'm always use to being able to put MMO settings on maximum! But, with a new graphics card maximum settings are a breeze. With that being said... Welcome (back?) to the board! It's good to see more sideline-ish characters. I always tend to enjoy sitting back and listening to people talk as well. Hope to see you in game!

Your opinions on a lack of cross-class abilities
Orlog replied to sugarfrosted's topic in FFXIV Discussion
It's understandable why people enjoy the trinity, but I just wanted to point out one specific thing. I'm not entirely sure where the "zerging" is coming from with having cross class abilities? In my experience with the situation, the same amount of planning for a party is still needed, and in some sense you still need a tank, DD, healer. But, with cross class abilities, it takes a lot of the stress off of each class. What's that you say? The tank can heal itself? The healer can withstand a couple of hits and contribute to the damage pool without having to JUST stick to healing? Keep in mind, these added abilities don't outright replace the originals. Said tank might be able to touch themselves up every now and again, but still needs a healer of some sort of keep most of their health up. Said healer might be able to take more hits and put out more damage, but it's not on par with those who have a core class of a tank and a DD. I don't know. Maybe I'm one of the few, but I get very bored with a class that's a one trick pony. Just my take on the matter! -
Your opinions on a lack of cross-class abilities
Orlog replied to sugarfrosted's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I'm honestly very disappointed in the lack of cross class abilities. I personally loved it when we could choose whatever ability we wanted to essentially make whatever kind of class we wanted. I understand that people want to keep the uniqueness in a class, but this only really seems to come up when trying to keep to the trinity of MMOs (Healer, DD, tank) and I'm personally all for just out right getting rid of those archetypes. I do think we should keep in mind that when using abilities from another class, there was always a bit of a downside to it, being that the ability just wasn't as potent as it was on the original class. And of course, you didn't have the resources that the original class had (mostly in MP if you wanted to use magic on a non-magic class). This added another element of really having to manage what little you had and make every cast really count. It was mostly left up to if the player could actually handle it or not. And to be honest... most people couldn't. Even when the option for using whatever ability you wanted was available, most people just ended up using just what what intended for the class anyway. If just sucks that they took it away from those of us who really utilized making our own classes to suit our needs, to suit those who prefer to be guided in the way of cross class abilities. -
You can use voice or typing for Skype, but the typical use is typing for RP. HOWEVER, I've had a few voice RPs when I was doing a pen and paper roleplay and it really added a whole new dimension to the RP! Instead of reading how a character might act, you actually get to see and hear it. It really helped me get into the scene more. The only down side for me is that I'm actually pretty shy when talking, so I had a harder time playing my character, haha. I do think it would be interesting to have a voice RP going on over Skype, though very unlikely to happen.

Just a quick update here! Starting tomorrow I'm going to be largely MIA because I'm going on a trip for 10 weeks! Unfortunately this means no digital art or much posting at all from me. But, it's totally worth the trade off. So yeah, see you guys when I get back! -

I've been working on this bad boy for a while and I finally have it done enough for posting! A poster for Misericorde's thread. -
Now I'm crying forever because I have yet to get a 3DS. But, soon. SOON! ...I need to play Animal Crossing so bad. So bad, you guys.

Sharing this screen shot again because it's my favorite of Bea so far. 8D

I honestly forgot to take a lot of the screen shots that I wanted to take, but I got a couple! Nothing too fancy. Just admiring the Aetherites in Gridania.
