Always good to see people posting art. I'll have to throw my hat into the lot! References heeeeeere. As well as more of my personal art pictures in the first post of my art thread under "Bea". (See signature) As far as where she falls under the masculine to feminine scale, I always viewed her a bit androgynous with a slight leaning towards feminine in appearances. Personality is another matter. :lol: On a side note, it would be really cool to see someone drew her with a jeweled septum clicker! It's something I added to her recently, so I haven't really had much of a chance to actually see her with it much.

Welcome to the RPC! Don't worry about sever space in the long term, in less than 24 hours they're all going down to try to add more room. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon so everyone can play where they'd like to play, instead of where they can play. As far as which to choose, it's all pretty much the same stuff going on and comes down to whether or not you want to play with Legacy characters or not. Either way, fun times will be had! Yeah, agreed. It's more the symbol of what he's done, how his work has effected other people... I dunno. Maybe I'm too emotional about my arts. But, here's hoping for a continued good run with animators!

I know it's not JUST Miyazaki that goes into the animation master pieces we love, but... damn. He's been such a huge influence and motivation to me growing up. I'm really bummed to think we won't get to see much of his work anymore. :cry:

Have you actually been reading this thread through, or did you just come in when people were saying their uncertainty of the purpose of this thread? 'Cause the thread went off into a different topic way before we got here, then were was the uncertainty, and then people went back to explaining why they disagreed with the theory that was posted. That's... all within the topic of the thread, so I'm not really sure where you're pulling this from. But, no, this topic is fine to continue this discussion, seeing that it pertains to the topic at hand. No one is talking about whether or not this thread should exist anymore. No one. There's some people disagreeing with the theory, and then people getting really upset about people disagreeing with it, and then some pointing fingers. So, if anything. YOU'RE derailing the thread more than anything else. Debates continue!

I have to say, I've been sticking around this thread because I enjoy the back and forth debate about the topic. But this: ...has me concerned. Is it just because we're all under the same Linkshell? Because there have been various other people who aren't with us who've said the same thing, but haven't gotten any sort of nod. It's just "mean old Misericorde" going at a debate again, expressing differentiating ideas (because, you know, a debate has two sides) again! We're an opinionated bunch, but it never goes beyond just countering a point. Seriously, though. When you post stuff like this, it's open for questioning. People are going to disagree and see different ways of it, some people are going to agree and both are entirely fine. If you were looking to write up a thesis and not have any input, then I suggest putting it in an areas that's designed just for the writer and NOT for discussion. And ...I'm a little put off that you compare the people who disagree with you openly to people on 4chan and Reddit. I can understand that having your ideas picked apart can be difficult, but there's no trolling going on here. It's just a discussion. Anyway, back to watching the discussion continue.

You had a bad CNJ. That is all. I have had more than one spam medica, unfortunately. I've seen this happen a lot more than once and have facepalmed even as a fellow healer. Medica should only be used in certain situations, not as the main way of healing. It's terrible for the tank and will likely get you killed more than anything else. Honestly, no. Unless there's a cross class ability that you REALLY need while soloing, there's reason to limit yourself on utilities that are always going to be better than cross classing for the more important things like dungeons, raids, etc.

S'weird. I've been having some issues loading the NA/EU severs. And I just hit 40 last night, too! I wanna do my class quest, bleh.

At lower levels, there's no reason to choose Conjurer over Arcanist. But, as you go through the levels, Arcanist's one heal isn't enough to deal with all the damage. Conjurer has an AOE and... Cure 2, I think? So, basically down the line Conjurer gets more tools to ensure you're alive. Then you get into classes, which is just what flavor of healing you like to play as far as WHM and SCH. But, yeah. Arcanist is a great lower level healer. But, to be fair, the lower level areas are extremely tame.

That's a little unfair to SE. The problem isn't because they messed up. The problem is because they did so well. The game has more people logging in than they estimated. That's why everything's full and backed up. They're now adding more space to compensate for the overwhelming numbers of players logging in. Yeah, this isn't a little unfair, this is EXTREMELY unfair. I don't think a lot of people consider what actually goes into making and handling an MMO. There's a lot more that goes into it than do or not do. 1.0 failed horribly. It would have been a terrible decision to make all this extra room for people to place when the numbers from 1.0 showed that there weren't that many people interested in actually paying to play. And before anyone jumps on "but a lot of people played beta!", that happens for every MMO, because it's a free time to test out the game without any money needed. Tons of people change their tune when it comes around to actually forking out cash. People playing in beta does not guarantee live subscriptions. SE did nothing wrong here. They were just unprepared to have so many people interested in this game, and I really wish this mentality that Square "fucked up" would just up and die already.

So, I've been waiting for summoner to be released for... for a long time. Even back in 1.0, I was always holding my breath waiting for my class to be released. I had an amazing time with it in Final Fantasy 11, and there was no question that the two games are heavily influenced by each other, so I feel like it's no stretch to expect something along the same lines of 11, if not remotely similar. We've finally got a release on the class, and a fair amount of people who've leveled far enough into it to actually have an opinion one way or the other. So, feel free to share your thoughts on the class. So, for myself, as I'm sitting on a level 39 Summoner... I'm really disappointed. I'm having a hard time really wrapping my head around any kind of depth to the class. I mean, the rest of the classes can pretty much be played in two ways: there's the easy mode, where you can get through just fine, but doesn't really require to know the particulars of the class. And then there's ... well informed, where your strategies and knowing the class really lets you excel at what you're doing. Summoner doesn't really seem to have any advanced strategies to it other than sometimes swapping out summoners that are really sub par at best. I mean, I don't know. Am I missing something here? The great thing about summoner from ff11 was that it was so much more than just a DPS class. Your summons had buffs that could help out the party, you as the summoner could do pretty well at healing, and the damage output from each summon was varied enough to actually use them in different situations rather than... close range, long range, and tank. The element of the summon REALLY mattered for the fight. Now I feel like I'm being forced into this DPS role that gives the illusion of having a lot of options, but really... there are none, plus just playing "what Pokemon do you want to play with today?" Along with that, the abilities for the summoners don't even cater too much to specific summon. Tank carbuncle and Titan almost have the same. Exact. Abilities. I can't say much for Garuda, because I haven't unlocked it yet, but I feel pretty comfortable in assuming that DPS Carby and Garuda are going to have pretty similar abilities as well. At the end of this, I actually found out that I love Scholar. I wasn't expecting it at all, but I figured out the class gimmick and how to really make it shine: It's essentially healer chess. Which is great! But, positioning and stuff for summoner matters so little that it's hard to even be bothered to play the same way. Bleh. I don't know. I'm honestly feeling a little bit defeated about it, because as I've said, I've been waiting for this to happen for years. And I'm sure I'll get a few "Go back to FF11 if you loved it so much!". I'd love to, but the combat is way too old for me to play at this point. So, I'm left yearning. I don't plan on changing my character concept, though! Just.. probably not touching the class as much as I thought I would.

I tried to draw something besides Bea's head today, I really did. But, then I got to thinking about her story and her weird deal with the ocean and how they're pretty much one at this point and I DON'T KNOW, SOMEONE STOP ME.

It depends on how long we're talking here, I think. If you're called away from the computer for an hour to go get food or something and fully intend to get back to the game as soon as you sit down, I have no issues with that. But, if you're leaving your character sit over night? For days? Unacceptable and shitty to do. There are other people who want to play the game, let them have their chance. And I know it's easy to say "Well, it's all Square's fault!", but rest assured, they're probably just as frustrated, or MORE SO (seeing that a lot of their jobs are at stake for this to work) a you are. No MMO company is ever going to be "Meh" about trying to get their game to work. Plus, we know what the issue is right now, and there's a potential work around for the time being. Why would you pass that up in the face of avoiding a bit of sever frustration? Also, this idea that you shouldn't even bother because it won't make enough of an impact? Fuck that noise. Trying to get people be more aware is always going to be better than an apathetic "Well, what can ya do?"

Moar pictures from last night! A small attempt at doing dungeons, being shot down by the severs, and then having an emote-off. Misericorde meet up! We were short 5 people, but still good times were had! And I've actually managed to find some pretty stuff in Uldah. Color me surprised.

I think their post was more directed at people who're acting like it's the end of MMOs as we know it. People have a right to be a little frustrated and upset, but they should also be aware that this is very typical of an MMO launch. It's gunna happen, it's happened before and it won't even be the last time. To be honest, most head starts are just a tricky way of continuing beta with the live severs. It's a final check before launch more than anything. So in short, everyone needs to simmer down. It's all going to beeeee okaaaaay.

I know it's kind of panicy for people who've never experienced stuff like this at a launch, but it really does happen. Especially with a game that's had a fair amount of hype. This isn't new, or even the worst kind of launch. Rest assured, it will clear up with time, but that time might be over a series of days, rather than immediately. I'm positive the dev team are as frustrated at how things are going as the players are. It sucks, but it happens. I'm gunna go occupy myself with something else until it gets fixed.
