Just an FYI, we're active again! We will probably be making some edits to the thread itself, but we're still largely doing much the same stuff as before.

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Orlog replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Had this exact thing happen last night. WHM would wait until the tank was around 10% before actually healing, spending the rest of the fight trying to add to the damage. I'm not entirely sure where this mentality is coming from? They claimed that they were saving us SO much time with it, but in reality, the tank just had to work around their bullshit to make sure the didn't end up biting it. This actually spawned into a huge thing in the MIDDLE of a dungeon. They figured they might as well "prove a point" by just spam casting cure 1 over and over again, because they were asked several time to step of their healing. They took every hit on the chin. Didn't heal the rest of the party. Claimed this is what everyone wanted. They were ultimately booted for wasting 20 more minutes by purposely wiping the party and arguing mid combat. ...And to add to that, this was in a level 35 dungeon. -
Pretty simple one here. How much has your character changed since you first made them? Did they exist outside of FFXIV? Did they have a completely different look or personality? I'm curious! Jacq (Joie, at the time) was a character I conceptualized come the launch of Wildstar. She was suppose to be this rough and tumble scavenging mechanic Aurin with a mouth that got her into waaay too much trouble. [spoil][/spoil] However, the game kind of bombed on me. I ended up moving over to ESO. Joie was turned in to Jacqueline to better suit the setting. This is where the character took a huge swing and ended up completely taking off from the original concept. Joie is now her own complete character that I'm using for Star Citizen. She's become my desert rat space trucker with some sweeeet, sweet cybernetics. [spoil][/spoil] In ESO, Jacq was a deckhand on a fishing boat. She lived for the sea and the companionship that came with living close quarters with an entire crew. She was jolly, still a tiny bit rough around the edges, but ultimately way more friendly than the original concept. She was also like 7 feet tall, golden and covered in tattoos. [spoil][/spoil] Now in FFXIV, I'm trying to keep the concepts similar, but I can ALREADY see them diverging from the experiences in ESO. Jacq was a barge worker, got pulled in to the war efforts by Misericorde. Completely inexperienced when it comes to combat, magic, and almost completely illiterate. She's currently going through tons of training regiments to fix all this, slowly taking up reading and writing, and finding a love to staking out new places that she's never seen before. Her maps are quickly filling up with markers! Looks wise, she's about 6 feet tall. A bit broader than the character model would allow. She started off looking purposely pretty plain. I wanted her new experiences and outlook on life to be a visual thing you could mark. [spoil] [/spoil] [spoil][/spoil] I'm sure there'll probably be more changes in the future, because you know... Character development. So... probably will add more in the future!

Jacq would probably be pretty stoked. She was very sheltered as a child and didn't really see her life going beyond just having a steady job at the barge. It was simple, paid well and really demanded most of her time, so it was easy to get lost in her work. But then her commanding officer came around, plucked her up for the war efforts and life has been one crazy roller coaster ever since. I mean, just the other day, she helped take down her very first dragon. How cray is that? As for Bea? I'm not convinced she ever was a child. I think she came out of the womb a fully formed mad woman.

Misericorde likes their gritty/to the point armor styling.

With FFXIV honestly? If I'm feeling unmotivated to play, I just go to something else. Like literally anything else. I'm not quite sure where this obligation to stick around a game that you're having a hard time wanting to play is coming from anymore. I've quit and rejoined it several times, and I probably will continue this pattern down the line. But, that goes with anything for me, really. Being unmotivated just means I need a change of scenery and pace of things. I usually try and go do something else that's quite a bit different from what I had been doing. Listen to some different music, watch different movies, RP different settings. But, I mean, I'm all about keeping my options pretty broad and sweeping. Locking myself down to a single thing doesn't work too well for me.

We'll see what happens! Right now I'm kind of without my main drawing tools as I'm in the middle of the move. Just sticking to little sketches on my mobile tablet until I can get photoshop back. -
Jacq pretty much ends up invading personal space when she's drunk. I mean, she's pretty friendly to begin with, but she ends up getting more handsy. Not anything weird though? Just... like pats on the back, touching of the arms. She's very much about making physical contact anyway, but when she's sober she's a lot more aware that people have lines that she'd prefer not to cross. Drunk, that all goes out the window. I feel like she'd also end up making a lot of jokes. And puns, oooh the puns. Beatric is... shit, I don't even know. I don't really see her as much of a drinker, to be honest. I don't even think /she/ knows how she acts when she's drunk. She mostly just sees it as a waste of time. Plus, the feeling of being drunk is diddly squat from the rushes she gets with her personal practices.

You're not my real dad.

HEY, I still post arts. Uh. So, like my returning post said, I'm using a new character for my main, along with Shuck. We both have characters we really enjoyed from ESO, but the game's been... stupidly quiet. Figured we might as well bring them over here. SO. All I have is ESO art at the moment. I don't even care. LOOK AT IT. Meet Clementine and Jacq! Their size difference is my favorite, but it wasn't really possible in this game. Jacq ended up being a tall highlander and Clem's a short Roe. Still cute, though. [spoil][/spoil] Clem headshot [spoil][/spoil] Jacq ...still WIP headshot [spoil][/spoil] Jacq likes to go fishing! Working on illustrations/backgrounds. Not 100% happy with the lighting, but very much so on the actual shapes. [spoil][/spoil] Working on Clem's armor. No boobplate, plz. [spoil][/spoil] WIP of a storyline going on through ESO. Prrroooobably won't be going on FFXIV, but I still liked where it was headed! [spoil][/spoil] -
Thank you! NAH, BB. YOU KNOW YOU LOVE IT.

Soo... Despite my bitching, Heavensward really ended up getting my attention. And of course returning to the game means I just had to return to the RP scene. I dunno if any of you remember me, but I use to main Beatric Reid from 1.0 onward. I've since changed her out as an alt, as the character herself doesn't really have much reason to continue to be a field agent on the story line my Free Company is working on. She mostly just keeps to Skype RP for the moment, leading the charge from behind the scenes. I still adore her, though. I now main Jacqueline Henner; a barge worker who's pretty new to the ways of combat and the war efforts. She's having a hard time keeping up her rough and tumble face with all of these veterans looming over her, pretty much constantly reminding her of her novice status. It's making for some interesting character developments, to say the least. Anyway. I'm still co-leading Misericorde. We plan on becoming an active FC once again and will probably open our doors to recruitment soon, so keep an eye out for that! Looking forward to re-joining the community! And making more arts~

Just a small update here: due to the large amount of interest we've been having at the moment, we've quickly reached our first cap of people and will be closing down recruitment for a little bit until people get settled. I'll be sure to post again when things are open again. But, note that this is just for the Free Company. The Linkshell is still open for RP purposes.

Demon Wall in Amdapor. I hate this fucker with a passion, because there's so much room to fuck up really quickly if your party doesn't know that they're doing. It's a huge DPS race with being put to the challenge of having to constantly move back and forth to avoid some nasty dots, as well as avoiding being knocked off. Bleh! It's not so bad once you get the timing down, but working up to that point was a pain in the ass.

Annnnd updated Uther because of his recent decision to make him an elezen. -
Oooh, very cool! What you've described is what myself and my group of people look for in RP and general partnership within an MMO. You might want to check us out. And I realize not everyone might not be interested in joining a dedicated group (or has already), so we're totally up to just working together with whoever to get some really awesome RP done. So, feel free to drop us a line any time. Aside from that, it's good to see this sort of stuff really sparking an interest. It'll be great to see more of the style of attitude within this community of RPers.

Helllooooo. Isaac got some new attire. Beatric was very happy.
-
Weeey! I love it! Especially the smarmy look on her face. And the septum clicker looks lovely.
-
I'm actually pretty terrible with this myself. I tend to stick around people that I'm familiar with when it comes to RP, so it's definitely something I need to work on! I know when I'm with a group, it's easy to just brush off being ignored, but when you're all on your own, it's pretty embarrassing and a little hurtful. So, I might not have any suggestions to add to this, but I will say that everyone else has added some great ones, and I'll definitely try giving them a shot as soon as I can!

Yessss, I love the exaggerated angle of his head and facial features. And I LOVE the shape of his hands and fingers. Very nice. Also your coloring reminds me a lot of Amano!
