Now spearheading the "Make All Adventurer Guilds Into RP Hubs" Initiative. New plan: Have terrible, wonderful drinking contests in the Drowning Wench. I would totally pay to see that. I doubt Solaire would even try it, but I know she'd go to watch!

Honestly, I feel overpowered and under-powered can be a bit subjective in RP; after all, what one person views as under-powered can be another person's OP. Granted, I still feel like there are things that are clearly OP and those that aren't. That being said, I think it's all about how a person plays the character. Each type of character poses their unique challenges. Personally, I like playing characters at a middle ground; Sometimes they have something powerful to back them up, other times they don't, and have to be creative to compensate. Honestly, I love to get creative with how my charterers compensate for their weaknesses, both new and old. For example, Solaire herself used to be very skilled in magic before she lost her memory. While she still has her Tome and some notes from her prior life, she doesn't have the same knowledge to make full use of her natural talent. As it stands now, she is an average healer and can protect herself in combat, but I wanted to give her the potential to become quite the healer if she can hone her skills. Ali, on the other hand, doesn't have much in the way of magic. While she is quiet the skilled pugilist, and has some natural strength to back up her punches. But besides this, she cannot heal, and more often than not she can bite off more than she can chew. But she makes up for this by being clever, both in and out of combat; after all, when all you have is your fist and maybe something to cover them, you have to think creatively. When I look at my characters, I guess I like playing them in a kind of middle ground, occasionally leaning towards one end of the scale or the other. I also don't try to focus too hard on how "powerful" a character is, but rather "does this make sense" for a character. If it makes sense for them, fits what they know or what they could learn from plots, and fits lore, then I may go with it. Anyways, I've said enough for now. @_@

With Solaire, I just really liked the sound of the name. I hit randomize for the last name, and "Solaire Stark" Just kind of rolled off the tongue. Also, I'ma bit of a Dark Souls fan so...er...yeah. With my other main, Ali Magia, it's actually a name I use for that kind of character quite often! It started from my Elder Scrolls: Oblivion game. Ali has a lot of meanings, but I picked it because I liked the way it sounded with her last name; Magia. That one is a reference to an anime OP, as well as latin for "Magic". Which is amusing, considering she's a pugilist.

Sorry for late response; I wasn't expecting to get as many responses as I did, to be honest. I guess the reason why I've taken so long to reply is well...DANGIT I WISH I COULD PICK ALL OF YOU. D: *ahem* Anyways, I may as well put up my schedule, and hopefull that'll help you guys. Mondays are typically right out for me until...about 11pm CST (I have college classes going late, unforutnately). Thursdays and Tuesdays I have volunteer work until 7pm CST. Like I mentioned before, I wanna make an Au Ra gunslinger; Probably going to be like, guard for hire or some such. I want to hear a bit more about them before I go super in-depth to their background. If I can't find a good lore name for her, I may give her a nickname that she goes by with most people, and change it later.

Hello! I'm currently looking for people to RP with in game; specifically, someone willing to RP with someone who's still learning all the lore of the game. While I'd just love friends to chat with too, I'm also looking for something specific in RP; someone who'd be willing to Travel with my female Midlander, Solaire. She currently dealing with memory loss issues, and doesn't feel safe traveling from Limsa to Ul'dah on her own. I know this may not be the most enticing request for RP, but I so badly want to get into RP in this game, but I'm afraid to do so on my own, especially knowing I'm still learning the lore a bit. Ah, welcome! Must be an interesting switch. As for good places to find RP; on the short time I've been on Balmung, the main starting Taverns seem to be a good place to start!

So, I managed to get a character transfer to balmung. It said the transfer could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. I did it just a minute ago, so I dunno if It'll take too long. I'm sorry if this is a bit unrelated to the main chat, but I figured I'd ask here instead of going to make my own thread. Wish I could have made a character on Balmung normally,but this works too.

I'm thinking of an Au Ra Mechanist, since a dragon gunslinger sounds nifty. c:

@Y'lani I think I may just wait for my main RP characters (or at least, the ones I plan to use for that) to become eligible for transfer, then do just that. I was hoping I could catch a time but...jeeze, if it's only gonna be once a week, I think I'm better off with the transfer than hoping I find it at the right time.

I want to transfer one of my copies of Solaire to Balamung sometime, but I don't know how I would go about it. The main reason is because, while I've met lovely people on Gilgamesh, I'd also like a server with more heavy/populated RP. All I know is that I have to pay for transfers. Also, I swear I'll stop spamming the forums. D:

I have to ask, what was the nicest thing you've seen, done, or have been on the receiving end of in this game? Like, from other players. The reason why I ask is because, while I was trying to do a quest at the Mermaid in Limsa (Gilgamesh Server), some random M'quiote player just opened a trade with me and gave me 10k in gil. He said it was a "welcome to the realm" gift and I didn't have to pay him back. Have you guys had stuff like this happen? Sorry if this is the wrong forum, by the by.

What about biting them? I feel that biting also works, if they have poorly defended knees. So everyone, protect yo kneecaps. But yes, when spots open up on Balamung (or I get to do character transfers) or on Gilgamesh (I already have a character there that I can transfer), I plan on rolling a Lalafell Pugilist.

No but I like to believe I was a Lalafell in a past life, and I plan on rolling a couple as alts. The world's tiniest pugilist, punching everyone's kneecaps.

Ah, thank you all so much for the advice. It's been very helpful for me, especially since Solaire is still low enough level that re-starting her is negligible. I feel like if I go with Arcanist/when I do, I may try DPS with that. Now my only dilemma is figuring out which is more fitting for Solaire. Both are, but combat feels a little slow with Counjurer (at least when I've been leveling a version of her I made on another server while I wait for Balamung spots to open up). I haven't really tried combat with the Arcanist version of her on Gilgamesh. I know it's not a great idea to make the same character on different servers, but I wanted to try out both. @_@

Well, I'm having trouble figuring out which class would be a better fit for me; I tend to be a decent enough healer in MMO's, so I was gonna go Conjurer, but I also like the sound of Arcanist too. Both would be fitting for my character, so I'm very torn. COuld someone fill me in on the big differences between the two? Otherwise I'm going to be re-rolling my Solaire forever. D:
