I've been considering making one recently, sort of like a journal of sorts for exercises. I don't know how canon it'd really be, but y'know. Practice, at least!

Are you tired of me yet? Lol. Sorry to post so many, but I'd rather be well informed instead of just winging it and ruining an RP experience for people in the future out of ignorance and/or arrogance. So I have a character in the works that is a songstress/bard lady. My only real question is how you go about RPing that. Are certain songs connected to certain spells? Do all the bards of forever know the same ones? Or does each bard make their own thing to work? Does it happen any and every time she sings or does she have control over when it does and doesn't work? Things like this. I didn't make it to getting my bard before the server was shut down, unfortunately. ;-; Any information is greatly appreciated.

I was thinking: Since a lot of people here aren't fond of non-canon RP (totally understandable), I thought of just making a little tumblr for some IC journal entries. I thought that might be a good way to get into his head. What I wanted to ask is if anyone could throw scenario suggestions at me. I'm sure some posts will be of my own thing, too, but it's kind of a fun exercise should someone throw a curve-ball at me.

RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I am fine with any forms of these. It's been a while since I've really gotten down and dirty, though, so forgive me if I'm rusty! Views on RP combat and injuries: I very much approve of them as they can add a lot of interesting flavor to an RP/storyline, but I don't approve of godmodding or metagaming. I'm also kind of shoddy at actually writing out combat scenes. Views on IC romance: Always down for this! However, I do not do pre-determined romances. For example, I would not engage E'iri in any sort of romance that's just kind of shoved at him out of nowhere without any development and was only determined OOCly, much less right off the get-go of his introduction. Gotta earn that tang. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Again, more than happy to do this. Aysun is even related to E'iri, as an example! Views on lore: I absolutely adore the lore and really like to include it in RP. I only shy away from things I am not really knowledgeable on. I am also aware that not everyone is like me, and unless I already know it's okay to bring up heavier lore points, I probably will be very vague. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I'm alright with any of them, except /tell, for RP. I prefer to use /tell if I have any questions or anything to say outside of /say, etc. so I do not ruin the RP flow with sudden ((ooc parantheses)). III. I know the hairstyles don't make the character. I guess I was just wondering because I don't want to have this character with super long hair or something, but be limited by the game options, and then have people assume how she looks IG is how she looks IC. That's all! 8] Thanks for clearing it up for me though!

As far as like, how your character actually is, compared to what visual aid is available in game. I don't really mean for armor or anything this time. It's actually specifically about hairstyle. I had design in my head with a female character of mine who is supposed to have ridiculously long hair. But I am fairly certain this sort of hair will never be available for my avatar of her. How do you go about it for RP? Just kind of do the best you can, and hope someone's read your profile on the RPC?

It's alright. I absolutely understand (both why non-canon is avoided and why the thread died). It's kind of difficult- I am really in the same boat as the rest of you. I really, really want some canon RP where E'iri can finally meet some people. At the same rate, though, I don't know what the hell to do as far as 2.0 lore and setting goes (like the rest of you), not to mention how positively intimidated I am. But, I really think the key to getting me more adjusted to everything is to just give a bit of non-canon a shot. Otherwise I think I'll be stuck on this little hump forever.

No worries! I'd be happy to try out some RP. I edited my opening post to include an idea about just possibly group-skype-RPing sometimes.

Thanks for the info! I don't know if I really have confidence in being able to RP out like..reliving people's memories. I'm not entirely sure why. It just seems like an odd position for me, and really touchy to other players on how it would go down. So I don't really fancy the idea in general, anyway, lol.

Thank you for pointing that out! That actually totally slipped my mind. I wanted him to commune with the elementals. I think my main intent with the Echo wasn't really to touch it much, since I know it's kind of a touchy case-by-case thing with people, since it's supposed to be some magic and rare thing, because you're "the hero" of the story. But then everyone is the hero...thing. I hope that made sense. Thank you for reminding me about that. I'm going to alter it, now.

I had made a generalized non-canon RP thread a little while back, but it's kind of dead now. On top of that, I still really don't have a feel for E'iri just yet, and with ARR's debut approaching in the coming months, I really want to get it down! I wanted to see if anyone was up for another thread, or even just skype RP I guess. It's been a long time since I've RPed at all, so I'm fairly shaky. I also have a lot of social anxiety that I am trying to get over, so it's been a little intimidating to just jump into any of these recent RP events on skype and such, even with those of you that I've come to know really well. I won't lie, I'm still fairly terrified of all of you. 8D; But uh. Yeah! So...y'know. I just want to learn how to RP all of this appropriately. His elemental communication thing, where exactly he's at in terms of conjuring, and just his personality overall. So...kind of two birds and one stone. Want to RP to get a feel for him, and also help myself stop being such a little chicken shit, basically, lol. Since it's non-canon, I don't really care what situation comes up, what the location is, or who he's with. Thank you all for your time in reading this! EDIT It was suggested to me that it might be a good idea to make a group chat on Skype and just designate a time for RP everyday or something. But I don't know what general times are a good time for people. I may avoid forum RP, since I'm a little more adjusted to that, and reeaaally need to adjust to a more real-time RP.

E'iri had kept quiet for most of this bantering, even through the addition of a new friend or two. He hadn't anything to say, preferring to listen anyway. It wasn't until Eva had addressed him directly that he popped back into reality, ears perking up, as he thought of an answer. "Ah.." he thought for a moment. Truthfully, he had only been hunting for food. Nothing more, nothing less. There just hadn't been much to hunt lately...and thus he ended up at the camp, enticed by the smell of roasted dodo. "I just wanted to eat," he replied, staring over at her with a doe-like gaze. "That's all. I was hungry. It is getting too late to be travelling alone for anything else."

Soo. I was curious about characters who aren't a typical adventurer or forest hermit, etc. What about backgrounds that give a higher status for a character? What's the general feel about those? Is it okay, so long as it's not like..ridiculous and mary-sue? [i'm sorry I keep posting so much shiet. I swears.]

He took in what information and tale he was given, his own ears perking up as Manari was questioned by Eva. He hadn't much to say regarding little ones and the like. He hadn't much to say on it, though, to be honest. He had seen his share of nature births, what with all the critters running around. However, he just didn't quite know how to act, appropriately, in the situation. After a few moments, he was out of Aysun's grill, but now sitting (seemingly) comfortably next to her. He'd thought to reply about monsters in the Shroud, but thought against it, tucking his hands together between his thighs and kind of...wiggled. Nothing special, just making himself comfortable in his seat! Even a little chirp-like purr managed to escape him, apparently pretty gleeful about said comfort. He waited, too, polite (and a bit shyly), until there was a good opening to speak again, unrelated to pregnancy. "Where are you all headed to?"
