  1. Phew. I feel a bit better now! Thank you, guys. ;;
  2. I kind of just wanted to ask and get a general idea of what everyone approves/disapproves of as far as how much is too much, before your character starts getting kind of...snowflakey. Mary-Sue-ish, etc. I still have this desire to have a character that is musically inclined (Songstress/Bard, etc. Singing for spells. Something similar to X-2's setup, if that's even permitted in the XIV-verse of RPing?). My thing is...I mean, I'm okay with making a second character who does this. At the same rate, I already have E'iri and I don't want to have too many alts or anything. It occurred to me, it might be fun to make him do it. I don't totally have anything specific going for him yet as far as a 'choice career' or anything. Not to mention it might be kind of interesting to see a male in that role (personally, I haven't seen many. ... Or any.). But so far, he does have some healing ability, and can commune with elementals. Sooo...would him having something like this be too much? Should I ditch his healing abilities, if I ultimately favor the musical ones? I haven't canonly RPed him yet, and likely won't until 2.0. So doing something like that wouldn't muss with anyone, as far as I know. Just curious! (;; I am sorry if this is sue-ish at all. I'm kind of nervous to even ask about it.) Thank you.
  3. He'd scoot eeever so slowly towards Aysun, ears wiggling, as if he were trying to be absolutely covert about it. Like no one would notice. Before she knew it, he was all up in her personal bubble, eyes wiiiide with curiosity and anticipation. Surely there was more to her stories of these far away lands? "And then?" he questioned, leaaaaning in a bit more, tail almost completely upright. "I read about monsters in the sea. Have you seen any?" Naturally there were creatures everywhere, but he alluded to myths he'd heard- likely through his mother or some form of reading material- of a specific giant serpent. Closer and closer he'd lean in. "Are there monsters like that in the desert, too?"
  4. Though it took a few moments, the incessant growling of his stomach would not let him pass up this offer. So far they hadn't tried to kill him, and this was good. Alas, maybe they poisoned the food, he considered, but at the same rate they had begun to eat it themselves. So it couldn't be! Yes. This food was good and safe. Extending his arm, he took a bit, then began to nibble at it. Ears perked and wiggled as each spoke. Eva had even thrown away her weapon as a sign of peace. It did help! Their efforts were not in vain, as they could probably see the tension in his shoulders slowly but surely drop, his posture becoming a little more relaxed. Perhaps not everyone was exactly like his mother had described. Maybe. He would have to inspect this beyond just this evening, of course. It seemed the majority of them either lived in Gridania- or in the forest about it, in Manari's case- except for Aysun, who spoke up about it just at the end. "Where do you come from?" he tilted his head. He'd learned about the other city-states, of course, but had never traveled outside of this forest. Not even /inside/ to Gridania. Just the forests. "What's it like?" he added, eyes wide with a childlike curiosity.
  5. Sorry! I totally forgot you sent it as a PM. I added you! Gotcha added. =D
  6. I really like the idea (and would be willing to help)! Though, I admit, I don't exactly understand companies yet- regardless of 1.0 or 2.0. I'm a little behind on game lore and stuff...but I've been wanting to learn all about it that I can. Next time you're on Skype, I'd like to run an idea by you!
  7. I'd be happy to try out anything you're interested in. I do want to inform that I am not terribly good at backdrops/scenery, though. ^^;
  8. I just updated the main post with a few completed sketches (since this has been posted), plus a waiting list. =D
  9. E'iri crept over to join them at the fire, though still chose to seat himself in a more isolated little spot across from them all. He could feel their eyes on him the entire time- which, 'feeling' them wouldn't be necessary when he sat down and could see them directly. He only nodded to Manari's question, listening intently on what the other's had to say, if anything at all. "I live nearby," he replied, referring to his little shanty of a home. It wasn't fancy or large in the least bit, but it kept him safe and warm. Unsure of anything better to do, he just chose to inquire, as he always did. "Are you passing through here, for travel? Where are you going?"
  10. Is that third one in (the navy blue one) a ladies fitted shirt? *^*
  11. His ears gave a wiggle as another woman had come running up. Don't worry, Aysun! He was sizing you up, too. He was at least relieved when she halted a little ways away. Good news! The Elezen wasn't recruiting her army. Good, good. He was safe. For now. "E'iri," he replied softly to her, heterochromatic eyes darting between her and the other Miqo'te. Standing, slowly, he proved to be a short little thing, his tail cowering almost between his legs, betraying his attempt to look oh-so-tough. Despite what his mother had taught him about not trusting others...his stomach was winning the judgement battle in his mind. Maybe if he did die of poisoned dodo, at least he'd die full and with a delicious flavor on his tongue. "You must have killed it a little while ago," he said, "I haven't been able to find anything around here."
  12. He sniffed at the air, ears perking up as that dodo roast whistled. The second she spoke up, however, those ears flattened back and he ducked down into the brush. He totally wasn't there! Even his tail curled up beside him, and he tried to remain perfectly still. Curiosity, tempation still would get the best of him, however, as he begun leaaaning forward. Slowly. Sniffing at that roast. She was right there, the food was right there! With his stomach howling at him, he felt almost no choice but to speak up. "I am just hungry," he spoke softly. From the sound of his voice, he was young, and very nervous. "It smells good..." Ears folded back once again. Still, he had not revealed himself. He was much too wary for that, and was ready to run at the first sign of anything wrong.
  13. Today had been quiet thus far. No adventurers passing through the trails, hardly and creatures scurrying around. Not even the elementals had anything to speak of, it seemed. It was making hunting difficult, truth be told. Currently, E'iri remained shoved up into a tree, eyes scanning carefully for anything he could make use of. Alas, nothing. The only sound to finally break the silence was the growling of his stomach. With a heavy sigh, he crept carefully back to the forest floor, beginning to wander the familiar trials. It wouldn't be too long before his nose caught a scent- a delicious one, at that. His stomach growled again at the thought of food cooking. If memory served him correctly, he was nearing camp Bentbranch. It must've been someone roasting on the fire. Ears would droop in disappointment, though, the more he considered it. He couldn't just invade on their meal. Besides, who was to say they were friendly enough to even let him near? For all he knew, he could be walking into a death trap! Yes, just like mother had always told him. Never trust them! ...Still. That was smelling pretty good. He couldn't help but creep closer to the campgrounds. He might've stood out a bit, to anyone with a keen eye. Not because of appearance- which consisted of an oversized tabard, shorts, and ankle boots- but because he was so...awkward and shifty around the camp's entrance. He wouldn't even attempt to enter it, but instead, linger just outside, crouched by a bush. Ninja mode.
  14. She's adorable~ Do you want me to draw her in the same gear as the screenshots? Thank you! And this is a good thing. I love taking requests from people! As for gil; hnnngh. I'm terrible at accepting payments/gifts/etc. ;o; GUNNA HAVE TO CATCH ME FIRST.
  15. I listed it below as well, but I want to make sure everyone is aware, in case there are any who aren't already: Recently I took up emergency paid commissions. I didn't expect the turnout that I got- I expected just to get 3-4 pictures and that was it. But I got a LOT more. Because paid commissions take priority over freebies and art trades, please be advised that all of the below projects are on hold until I finish all of the paid commissions in this thread. I appreciate your cooperation. April 3rd, 2013: I cleansed out a good bit of the waiting list. I'm still happy to add people to it, but I request that you re-request. Freebies: I am still taking freebies/requests, but please be advised that they may take a long time to get done and are second priority to paid commissions. They are also not first-come-first-serve, as I switch between projects often to keep myself from getting too stale or bored with one image. This helps alleviate errors and things in the picture. =] ========================================= I just wanted to post some arts here. I'll probably keep it all FFXIV related, since I'm sure most of my other stuff isn't of interest here. [ If you want to see it, though, check out my deviantArt! ] I'd be more than happy to draw your characters, but I have a few things to note: - I will do them free, as I really need more practice, but please keep in mind that sometimes I get busy, and sometimes my mood gets a bit...fickle. I won't get into details! But the point is, it might take a while before the picture is done. - Sizes will vary. Some will be head shots, some busts, some full. - I draw in the style you see above. Anime..thingy. - I draw girls and girly-guys better than manly men. But, like I said, I need to practice. I'll do my best on them! - Please provide as much detail as you can about your character in the form of pictures or text. I don't mind either. ;; - If you have any specific gear from the game in mind, let me know. =D I can draw it on them.* - Please keep in mind that paid commissions take priority/will get done before freebies. - Please also keep in mind that these are not done in any specific order. Just cause your name is up there first, doesn't mean yours is done first. I go between projects to keep things fresh. * I will probably never draw the WAR AF, PLD AF, or DRG AF unless it is a paid commission. Thank you! Completed Freebies K'aworu, Tambourine Master I uh. Don't judge me. Dancer Aysun! K'AWORU IS A MAN. Nahu Commission Blade Belisaire Paradyme Capellago Cole Vhenka K'aworu ; Style practice Selene Artemis (Added April 11th, 2013) Niamh (InsertLastNameHere) (WIP; Added April 11th 2013) Waiting Line Thingy (My own personal reminders. I entertain myself here. Don't mind me.) If it's italicized this means I've started it to some degree. - Xenedra (Trade) - Gerik (Marriage Proposal) - Tyonis - Yssen (Exchange for his soul) - Aysun (First born) - Rhashi (Bribed me with love) - Mtoto (Art Trade) - Endricane (Sexual Favors) - Deirdre (Art Trade) - Nanami
  16. Wow, I feel horrible for not replying sooner! I could have sworn I'd had an alert set on the thread. Anyways. Thank you both for your replies. They've both helped a great deal and are very informative and inspiring! @Mihana: Holy crap the amount of info you have for me here! Haha, it's extremely helpful! It's given me quite a bit to reflect on, considering the qualities of this character. @Blade: Thank you for your kind words! I am hoping with the start of 2.0, I'll have enough set in stone for me that I'll be able to comfortable RP at least a -little- bit. And again to Mihana, I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I was asking for help on fashioning a backstory and such. I know some people have told me "don't worry too much about that, just jump in!" But each time I've tried, I have difficulty. Having that background helps me get that feel for who they are, and why they are that way, y'know? But with my lack of knowledge on a good chunk of the lore, it's been giving me issues. I'm definitely going to give those two profiles a good read. Both have qualities similar to my character, so I think it'd be good inspiration. Any more advice and stuff is still greatly welcomed from everyone! Thank you!
  17. Well, I had posted up a profile at one time...but have since taken it down, only because I wasn't sure about it. I'm not new to RPing, but I am new to doing it in FFXIV. The only other game I've done it in is Ragnarok Online, but beyond that, it's only been forums. My character in game is only about level 20, so...I'm still learning lore. He is to be a male miqote when 2.0 is released. The most basic of info I had for him (not even a name at this point, the old one I had was unsatisfactory to me), but ANWAY. He was a healer-esque type and could communicate with the echo/elementals. I know as a catalyst for healing someone else (which, he starts out not very good. No godmodding here!), he takes the wound on himself. As far as upbringing, he was born and raised in the forest area surrounding Gridania. He's lead a fairly sheltered life, perhaps. I thought of making him a bit more feral in behavior, but I wasn't entirely sure if maybe that didn't fit him or something. Could anyone help me fashion this character a bit? I figure, he'll likely reign from the 1.0 world and have been sent to the future for 2.0. (I did make him in game (though as a female miqote for obvious reasons).) I've been dying to RP with people using him, but he just feels so...rough. Or incomplete? I'm not really sure. I just feel this great hesitation about it, like I have some lack of direction. It's admittedly been (socially) terrifying. ...as you can see, I'm kind of all over the board. ;; I apologize. Thank you for reading this.
  18. I'm glad this thread was posted! I posted one asking similar questions before, but we didn't have much info- if any at all- regarding how transitions into 2.0 is going to work. Up unto this point I've felt guilty for not actively engaging in RP...but now I'm almost seeing it as a blessing in disguise? I may not do anything with Ezreal at all until after 2.0 is up and running, so I know exactly what was going on. His history can be flexible, regardless if I wanted him to be considered a 1.0 character or not... but, to be fairly honest, it just seems easier and far less of a hassle and headache to just...wait. Lol. I certainly do hope this doesn't make me a lazy individual?
  19. Oh, no worries on the job front, there! When I roleplayed on a Ragnarok Online server, this was a well established rule of sorts. Just because I was a level 80 Warlock that could nuke everything on the screen by batting an eyelash, didn't mean I could do it as a character [9 times out of 10, my character's job title was not that of the games job classes. I know most RP settings work like this, but I still wanted to ask for sure on here. <3] I can't thank you all enough for answering my questions so far. I'm fairly sure I'll have more soon, but so far, these have helped a great deal! [i can't wait until 2.0. I really, really want to play my male miq'ote. For some strange reason, ideas for him have been flowing in my head like a river, whilst ideas for Mnemosyne are a little lacking. e ne]
  20. Wonderful answers! Thank you all, so far. <3 I do want to clear up, though, I don't play on playing the male miq'ote until I can actually make him in the game. [Though, if I did, I might just have him crossdress in public, lol. I seem to recall that it was written that while the males did exist, only the females went and ventured out for whatever reason. It crossed my mind to have him cross dress so that he could explore without 'issue'...but I'm still unsure of it, lol.]
  21. I apologize if this is the wrong section. I didn't see any other section that quite fit the bill of asking RP questions. Well, instead of making several threads, I wanted to just lump my RP questions into one thread. I thank you for your time in reading them, and even moreso for answering them! 1. Backgrounds: What's the "limit" so to speak? I bring this up because with 2.0, I've been planning my male miq'ote character a bit early, so I'm more prepared to RP him when I can actually make him. I am very intrigued by the type of characters in the game [NPC-wise], such as E-Sumi-Yan in Gridania's storyline. I wondered, are such characters okay to make for roleplay? Not necessarily with that kind of influence, but more so, a conjurer who can "hear" spirits and such. Even further, to prevent any suspicion of godmodding and to help other players feel at ease about it, perhaps he's not the best at it, either. I by no means want to have some super powerful character! I enjoy playing characters who seem a little lacking in knowing what they're doing in a lot of areas, truthfully. They're fun! I just thoroughly enjoyed the idea of being able to hear the unheard spirits and what not. 2. IC = IG?: I am pretty sure I asked about this in my old, old account on here, but I don't think I ever got to see (or at least remember) the answer. I know that IG, things such as appearances are limited. How can people go about doing anything about this in an RP? Do you all stick pretty firmly to what is available as in-game clothing/armor/hairstyles/etc. Or do you embellish a bit and simply write it out in your post? What if I wanted Mnemosyne, in my mind, to have long wavy hair, but the game limits me to the few options of the character creation? What if she wears a frilly dress and not a Dodoskin Subligar? Are things like that okay to change about, or no? 3. Roles/Jobs: I mainly ask this because I really wanted to dabble in making Mnem some sort of songstress. I know that there is an NPC Songstress as part of the story of Ul'dah, but not necessarily playable as a job (unless you count BRD? It's...kind of close. Sans dancing. And stuff.) --- Are jobs that aren't actual playable jobs okay to have? Pirates? Dancers? Drunken Hobos shouting from a sandwich sign about Dalamund? 4. Posting: I'm not new to RPing, but am a little rusty. Majority of my time in RP was spent in a chatroom or a forum, where my posting limit was more or less infinite. I know FFXIV has a text limit in-game, though. I just wanted some advice on how to condense down my writing, but still getting my bit across, without seeming "lazy," if that makes any sense. 5. Icebreakers: I wanted to ask, is it acceptable not to have a heavily in-depth background for a character? Not out of laziness or mystique, to be honest, but more because despite playing FFXIV at launch, I left until this Welcome Back Campaign. I'm not entirely familiar with too much of the lore, storylines, setting, etc. Sometimes it is easier for me to play a character as a bit of a newblet to whatever their role may be, that way, as they learn- I learn! Is this acceptable etiquette? ;; [As a sub-question; As a player who is new to RPing in the FFXIV world, how can I really break the ice? Introduce myself? I am terribly shy/afraid of judgement, but still I find that no excuse! I'd really like to start diving into all this without making an absolute fool of myself.] 6. Consistancy: How closely do people (though I know this varies between linkshells) stick to the FFXIV storylines? Do you make up your own mini stories to roleplay, or do some people stick to stories such as the ones you play when starting out in either of the three city-states? [i figure this might be difficult? Using Gridania as an example, I know the main storyline puts you as a "super special person" who knows mooglespeak and was summoned by the elementals. So I know that in RP, it would be difficult to apply this to every player who started in Gridania, yes? However, I wanted to ask, to know where things stood!] --------- I...am fairly sure I'll have more questions as time goes on and I actually get into RPing more actively, instead of hiding in my little hovel of shyness. As for now, these are all! Thank you so much.
  22. Thank you very much for this. I have been out of the loop for a while, so I wasn't 100% of what was going on with the "doom sphere," as you call it. [i giggled.] I was under this weird impression that everything going on now wouldn't really matter or connect with whatever 2.0 will bring out, so I'm relieved to hear that it'll all stay connected. I had thought of her being Gridanian, or at least some sort of forest dweller nearby. So! I suppose I'll work on that, then. Thank you again!
  23. Hello. I've been itching to RP with a lot of you recently, but haven't quite gotten anything down for my first character! I find myself a little conflicted, so I was hoping to get a bit of advice from you. With 2.0 around the corner [and the whole moon/meteor crashing, etc.], it means a lot of changes to the current scenery of the game. I know 2.0 is slated for just a few months from now... so how should I go about creating my character? I suppose I'm a bit afraid that I'll decide on one thing for her now, that gets nuked or something in the relaunch, and then suddenly her background doesn't make sense. I hope I've explained myself properly. ;-; The most I've got for her is that she'd be a songstress/dancer [an aspiring one, at that, no doubt] in role. I've been dabbling in writing her personality proper...but for background...Yeah. Haha, read above? =D; Thank you all for your time in reading.
  24. Thanks so much for the warm welcomes! I admit, I'm slightly hesitant to RP just yet. Until 2.0? I kept hearing that there would be a lot of changes to the lore/story/etc. [something about a giant moon. I've been out of the FFXIV loop for a while so I have no idea what's going on.]
  25. Rad! Well, that works out then! And, I may take you up on that Edricane! I'm still not sure about either of my characters (especially since I will likely change some things once 2.0 goes up), so something OOC would be awesome right now. I think that was why I ended up falling out of XI, in the end. No friends! ;n; It kind of ended up defeating the purpose of the MM in MMORPG. Now to just...find one of you, in game. Hahah.
