Hey now, "coolness" is a perfectly valid reason for having something! I know I own plenty of things for no other reason other than "Holy crap this shit is awesome", and I am certain I'm not alone. There doesn't have to be some convoluted motivation to having everything. I believe he's pointing to the assumption that I also made that coeurl mounts would be extremely expensive to buy. So obtaining one just because it was cool would only make sense if your character was icly wealthy.

According to this survey two out of three roleplayers will be female miqo'te. I don't even think it was that bad in 1.0. I'm very suspicious of this data.

I suppose I'll be using the re-customize option for a more lore complaint name. I can almost swear in 1.0 all Keeper first names had an h in them...

This is a lot like the "What class should I play" questions that come up, and the best answer is almost always play what you enjoy the most. Picking a class just because it's rare is almost always a bad idea. Perhaps if you liked both races equally it might be a decent deciding factor. I certainly felt the whole -too many Miqo'te- near the end of 1.0 and would have been tempted to race change... but at least there will be catboys to go along with the legion of catgirls now. Wait, now that I think about it, maybe I should change to Midlander so I stand out more... wait now you've got me doing it too...

While she doesn't seem to understand what got deleted (At least I'm assuming Kylin didn't blow up any additional profiles than the ones discussed in Backstage.) she does bring up a decent point. Keeping around some of the older character profiles might not be a bad idea. Sure deleting empty profiles is fine but ones that look like some effort was put into them might be worth keeping. Some of the people who rage quit over the state of the game at launch might want to try 2.0 so might be nice to keep their stuff around.

Well, everyone here has or knows someone who has an intermission pearl sack, it's just an ooc hang out thought you can occasionally (or frequently) find rp with it. There is a link to the LS page at the top two spots down from forum. The active RP LSes are: Shimmersong, Corvus, Everwatch, TALE and Blue Skies. We're in a bit of a lul right now due to gw2 launch but things should pick up some in a week or two. Conjurer becomes a white mage so you'll be healing a lot if you make that your main class.

You has the unfortunate luck of having your event coincide with the opening day of gw2. Eva might have the right idea for planning an event two weeks from now, that will allow some time for the shine to wear off of gw2.

After some semi-drama in Back Stage regarding the state of the community I opened my big mouth and complained about not enough events... so now I feel guilty about just complaining and not doing anything about it. What I'm proposing is a low pressure open RP event(s) on the calender that Ideally would allow new people an IC opportunity to meet people in what can occasionally be an intimidating community. Ideally we would never be more than two weeks away from an event. It should be something that is advertised or reasonably well known so new characters have an IC reason for being there without having to know anyone. As Reta pointed out these type of events don't tend to be super deep. This is more about offering new people an easy IC access point to the community. Yssen made a case for bar RP: that it is very easy for people to have a reason to be there and pretty much accessible to all. Then several people complained about it and for good reason bar rp isn't something everyone enjoys and some characters just don't fit well in it. But it isn't a bad place to start... I'm thinking "Happy Hour at The Drowning Wench" if nothing else because of the pleasant dissonance between happy and drowning. I also like the idea of something more commercial that centered around buying and selling or crafting. ANYWAY if anyone thinks up something interesting please share. Also if anyone knows how to do those cool IC posters that would be nice... because I'm artistically challenged.

Very true! I'm just not sure how much I want to swim against the current if all the new story/quests/content is built around every PC being sent from the past. Luckily... I have plenty of time to think it over.

Ugh, you mean everyone is going to be a legendary hero sent from the past to save future? I didn't really see anything in the videos that confirmed this... though it sounds very plausible for SE. Ah well... I guess there is no reason to hold off on rp if everyone is going to be a legendary hero. /sigh

Are you in intermission yet? I think all the active LS (except maybe TALE) have people who are active there. If you've registered here then you've already met all the requirements needed for a pearl just /tell about anyone. Also, making friends with Gerik helps! He's nearly talked me into an rp LS many times! (And I totally saw your application to Blue Skies... cause I'm at lvl 50 stalking.)

I'm not sure how strong the competition was, I've never even heard of the runner up before. Then again me not hearing of things happens a lot... like Yssen's 1996 League of Extraordinary Gentlemen last night.

I don't really see Reiry at all fitting into the epic hero frozen in time to save the future model. So ideally I would like to re-write her history to match 2.0 changes and modify the name somewhat. Which is where it gets problematic... because it's unclear if we'll get name changes for 2.0 so I feel awkward rping a character that will technically be a completely different (prolly not even born yet) person but have the same name/personality in 2.0.
