Luca would try to get to know me and I'd feel extremely uncomfortable. I'd just try to avoid her at all cost. She's not a bad person and is p-harmless, but she'd creep me out. Ironically, I don't like people like her in general. Too intimidating. Then I'd probably enroll in some Grand Company and forget about life on Earth forever.

Well, that is certainly one thread I could butt in. I keep asking myself. Is it is obvious that Lucaell's "name" is... not her real name? Being a new player and all, I am often wondering what people think of me when they see my RPer tag in my priv info IG. After reading my wiki entry, it should all be clear (and the reason is sillier than it sounds), but do people do that? I also do wonder if Lucile Townsend is not too modern for an FFXIV's midlander. Maybe I'm over-thinking it, but there are times I do not really feel like what I'm doing is "correct". But in the end, what really matters is the RP* experience I'm willing to provide to the people meeting me, and the people willing to meet me. These are details not worth stressing over after some time (but I somehow still do even after RPing with fairly nice people from the forum this evening). No matter what kind of RP you do, people will always eventually RP with you, at least a little. Especially if your name isn't "Ducky McLaine", see what I mean? There's an incredibly wide variety of names outside lore conventions on the wiki, and from what I've seen... These people do RP! It has already been said, but giving a shot to all RPers dropping by is, in my opinion, the best thing to do. I always check up chars on the wiki when I get aggro'd in game, so hopefully I get to know who I am dealing with. In return, I secretly hope they get to do the same with me. TL;DR: Ryanto, Nara'to, your characters look fantastic and well-written, don't let weeaboos and nit-picky jerks ruin your whole roleplay experience. There's a difference between playing half-breeds, having an in-lore username resembling some kind of shounen hero's and actually playing a custom primal mastering ninjutsu trapped in a Lalafell-Elezen half breed's body named "Ifritcool Rakakukotsukishi". I'm going to answer your question with a question. Which do you think sounds more appealing, "Warren Castille", or "Tanky Awesomeknight?" This, really.

We had our little discussion about that! I don't mind at all, I think it's great and adds to the character interaction/hooks. She must have her reasons, and these are reasons I'm willing to learn through RP! I did not write much/enough to my char's personality, but she takes challenges if she feels there are 99% chances she can succeed. Music is her field, so that would be a yes. She can be somehow competitive if you push the right buttons, although she doesn't really see herself as such. She's very touchy but stays relatively quiet if insulted. Relatively as in she will probably throw passive-aggressive comments and deny everything if you start saying she's been rude etc. :'D Feel free to add me in game or on skype to tell me when your character is back in town!! I'd love to meet her!

#Harmless creep

I changed it just for you. Please appease the butt. Conflict makes RP in my opinion, so we're on the same wavelength! People agreeing on everything or goody two shoes aren't less worthy than any other type of character, but it's true that opinionated characters are much more down-to-earth and realistic in such settings.

I'm merely thinking about how my character would react to such displays, I wouldn't dare launching myself in such things, I have too little knowledge for something more complicated than Lu rn. :') Thank you for your super fast input everyone in any case!

Hello, I'm Meishali, and welcome to "make politically incorrect threads TODAY". I tried to look a bit into this but I didn't find much information + I am still new to the game so I am trying to avoid spoilers... So wiki research is a bit risky for me atm in general. I've done some people watching today and yesterday and I've seen several little comments on racial features (miqo'te ears, hyur's height compared to a lalafell's etc.). Some were taken as "cute titles" or gentle remarks, other were, in context, meant to be insults. Are there any in-lore known slurs? By that I mean... Like, actual quest givers of y race referring to x race in a rude/good manner using something other than the clan name or the race name. What is considered rude? What's not? Does it just depends on the characters way to take it? Maybe they don't really exist and what I read yesterday & today was a mirage? Also, how often do races mix to do kids? What is usually the offspring like? Enlighten me, veterans!

Well, looking at the thread... Everything has been said on the matter, to be honest. I personally do what is interesting for my character. In that sense, absolutely any interaction is good to take, but this doesn't mean I will role play with certain people, especially not if they act like complete creeps and expect cybering. I am not here for that, and so I will not meddle with people who appear to be here only for that. I am patient, so when/if flirt happens I usually take a good look to see if it's true, mature in character interaction from my interlocutor. If it's not, I take my leave after some IC remarks. No matter how much you want to stay IC, not everybody in game is well intentioned and it is absolutely fair to hint IC that you don't want to stay or to fake your character having something else to do (even if it is against your character's personality, aka they're flirty, etc). RP is supposed to be a fun thing to do. If what you do isn't fun or if a certain character spoils your fun by sending absolutely creepy OOC remarks, what's the point of keeping it up? In character or OOC, OOC or IRL, if anything makes you uncomfortable, anything at all, I believe you have the absolute right to say no and/or to leave and block/cut ties with this person. I've literally been here for two days and I've seen some of these people. One of my favorite game is tormenting this kind of creeping stuff OOC by asking a lot unrelated questions. ("Do you like cabbages?" "Tea or coffee?" "My grandmother's salmon lasagnas are amazing.") But I'm impish and this kind of situation amuses me more than it annoys me, but I'm still severing IG contact if it is too creepy. Some people are definitely desperate. But hey! It takes all kinds to make a world!
