When part of your rp is heavily explored in lore
Judielle Farendaire replied to Thorbought's topic in RP Discussion
If I understand this correctly and the MSQ confirms your headcanon, keep going with it! Problems come when something's refuted, and confirmation can only make something look better in RP. -
((Crossposting from Tumblr)) So I’m typing this on my phone and I only thought of this concept last night, but I’m excited enough to try to do this now. I wanted to see how many characters in the community were priests of any of the Twelve or otherwise religiously devoted to them - and if this takes off, followers of Eastern and Xaela traditions as well! I’m asking to see the viability of making a discord or linkshell to connect characters and organize: • More religious ceremonies depending on a wider community interest in them, using Saint Reymanaud’s Cathedral, the Arrzaneth Ossuary, the Church of Saint Adama Landama, temples of Rhalgr - anywhere that can be justifiably used! • Charitable work to the poor, downtrodden, and victims of war • Missionary work in the name of the Twelve to spread the faith to Garlean territories and the Far East • A channel of interfaith dialogue to foster understanding between the churches and cults of the Twelve to support the above charity and missionary efforts both at home and abroad I understand that this concept might not be feasible for many priest characters with conservative beliefs, i.e. Halonic orthodoxy. Since this is such a rough draft I’m still working on ways to make a space for them that doesn’t necessarily relegate them to an “antagonist” role, and if this is something that takes off I will of course be open to suggestions!

discussion How would you retire your character
Judielle Farendaire replied to Desu Nee's topic in RP Discussion
Of my two characters, Aronaux's the one I'd be more likely to retire. As someone who's become a Peer in the House of Lords, he's for the most part moved on from his previous life as a knight of House Fortemps, and if I ever wanted to fantasia him to make a new character I could just as easily play him as an NPC. Judielle's fate would depend on what happens in Stormblood, but I can see a few possibilities for her: she can be killed off at some point during 4.0's storyline just trying to fly too close to the sun, or either she can find love in Kugane and settle down there far away from Ishgard or return home and settle into a quiet life continuing her priesthood. -
I'm not sure if this has been answered or not, but outside of the Scions how many Eorzeans acknowledge the existence of Hydaelyn, and how does knowledge of Her existence relate to belief in the Twelve?

Stormblood "Current Events" (spoilers)
Judielle Farendaire replied to Arashin Kujqai's topic in Character Workshop
Much of the Ishgard community - although not its entirety, which is completely fine and I don't believe there were any major problems - roleplayed throughout 3.0 as taking place before all of the major developments and revelations made in the second half of the expansion's main story. For Stormblood, I'm expecting most people to act as if the war is beginning (and accept any developments required to go to Kugane, which I'm convinced is going to be a major RP hub) but ignore most of the inevitable conclusions of the storyline until the next patch. I'm pessimistic about red mage being an "accessible" profession as far as jobs do, seeing that both white magic and black magic are made basically impossible to RP in the public eye. That said, my attitude would be that it always has been a distinct school of magic that the right kind of person could discover and use, but it's been so hidden that only a certain cabal or secret society has played it. That doesn't stop anyone from playing a character that's used red magic this whole time, but I'd imagine it'd require some additional backstory linking them with said organization. -
Jee whiz I need to update my profile here! Aronaux Farendaire, who's my main until I level up my alt for Stormblood, is a viscount, knight of House Fortemps, and member of the House of Lords, so I figured that he fits best into the Royalty category. Of course, I usually have him in Ishgard proper, specifically the Pillars, due to his status in the House of Lords, but whenever I want to take him outside I bring him to Camp Dragonhead on official business for his liege, House Fortemps. Other than that, he goes on vacation from time to time in the southern city-states, and as a history aficionado tends to visit ancient ruins like Nym and Amdapor quite a bit. His academic interests definitely don't outweigh his emphasis on nobility, governance, and knighthood, though. Judielle Farendaire, his sister and the character I'm hoping to main in Stormblood if I get her there in time, is a more complicated case; if I answered the poll for her I would have chosen adventurer. She fulfills many of the responsibilities of a low hierarchy Ishgardian priestess, but an unquenchable wanderlust and unwillingness to take a vow of chastity keep her from ordination despite otherwise having studied in the Scholasticate everything she's required to have learned. When in Ishgard, she spends most of her time attending to the needs of the poor in the Brume and elsewhere, working side-by-side with missionaries and clergymen there, but she has a heart of an do-good adventurer and has done many things that would get her into trouble in the eyes of her peers and the Inquisition if they were ever revealed. Unlike Aronaux, who's more interested in maintaining the public order than anything else, Judielle's profoundly motivated by a dream to make the world a better place, which will ultimately bring her to Gyr Abania and Othard before she settles down, either finally as a priestess or as a wife and mother. Since she's primarily an adventurer, I'm more free to have her go wherever she pleases, but for now Coerthas and her free company's home of Limsa Lominsa remain her usual haunts; after Stormblood, I plan to relocate her mainly to Kugane, but we'll see if it might make more sense for her to be in Rhalgr's Reach.

balmung Looking for Ishgard rp buddies
Judielle Farendaire replied to Azureus Scipio's topic in Chronicled Connections
Feel free to whisper me on Aronaux Farendaire or Judiel Farendaire in-game! :3 I lervs meh Ishgardian RP. Just to warn you though, Aronaux is strictly a very conservative noble who would definitely despise Rahab were he to know about his mixing with the lower classes. -
Ishgardian Fantastic Four inquiries.
Judielle Farendaire replied to Kurt S.'s topic in RP Discussion
I'm not at home, so I can't get in-game and look around for quotes from around Coerthas, but I can recall a knight of House Fortemps in Camp Dragonhead expressing his misgivings concerning the Fortemps-Haillenarte alliance, saying, "House Haillenarte's bumblings have cost us Steel/Stone Vigil." Can't quite remember which Vigil he actually speaks of in-game. -
On Rescuing Heretics - Ishgard Lore Question
Judielle Farendaire replied to Michaux's topic in RP Discussion
Well, the only problem I can see is getting through the Gates of Judgement, as it's the most policied place in Eorzea short of the castrums. If your character is smart and skilled enough to armor up as a Temple Knight or something, however, I imagine that it's quite feasible if insanely dangerous should one be caught. Ishgard doesn't have an all-seeing eye, as the 2.0 Coerthas questline shows, but woe be to anyone who draws the ire of the Inquisition. Interesting character concept, anyway! I've never seen anything quite like it and I'd love to RP with you at some point! Edit: Late-night grammar mistakes, oh my! -
I personally believe there's a lot of lore and RP potential for sea wolves, but hellsguard don't have much going for them other than being traveling mercenaries or Ala Mhigan refugees. (Not lying - three hellsguard are found in Little Ala Mhigo.) The sea wolves are so much more than pirates; they are the founders of Limsa Lominsa, the center of the world for basically the entire population of Man in Vylbrand. The roegadyn are the race of Admiral Merlwybb, my personal favorite character in the entire game world for her complicated morality. Sea wolves are also an excellent choice to reflect the culture war in Limsa Lominsa between former pirates and those who wish to establish order. In short, I would love to play a roegadyn if I was creative enough to make a non-Farendaire character and willing to pay for a level one transfer.

Nice to meet you LadyCleriseaux and welcome to the RPC! Aronaux is an Ishgardian noble with a scholarly interest in history, so it would be great for him to meet your character at some point.

House Farendaire (and myself ) has moved to Balmung, so I will be modifying the profile accordingly. -
I used to be a firm believer in not using quotations with /say. If it was clear my character was speaking, I saw no reason to leave another indication! Yet overtime I found that their use allows me a lot more flexibility when it comes to emoting with /say, whereas before I would awkwardly use asterisks, most of the time.
