  1. That or I'm an idiot, I don't know, lol. Yeah, I'm an idiot. Someone else uses a cactuar avatar as well, so I apparently suck at recognizing things.
  2. Nah, I saw you post somewhere else on the forum, so I assumed you were here much longer than I thought -shrugs-
  3. What makes you say that? You've got quite a few more posts than me and a level 50! Or you just makin' fun of my age. :dodgy: I meant on account age and whatnot. For some reason, I thought you were on this forum much longer than me
  4. Welcome to the forums, Scorpio, even though I think you beat me for senority. ('-' )
  5. This is why she's been "in-concept" for so long. Memenu's a very problematic character as you can see, but I've been working with it as best I can. The questions everyone has asked here (which again, I thank all of you for asking such questions) has helped me develop her further if I continue to go with this route. At this point I should say "In-Progress" over in-concept, but eh, same thing to some extent. While I'm not sure if anyone else would stick with such a problem design for so long, I'm not willing to "start from scratch" so easily.
  6. 1. Why would Memenu leave those who summoned her in a jam to roam Eorzea? Not by choice, if the Garlean military found out, she'd probably be killed almost immediately, more so if Ultima was combat ready. Especially within Garlean lines. 2. If they're not saved, why would they resummon her if she failed them the first time? Point number one, but they could've been re-deployed somewhere else or are in a location not yet visited by the players as of the events of 2.5. 3a. If somehow the summoning ritual didn't conjure Memenu to the summoners, how would they even know it worked? They wouldn't, but as one of her followers used her own soul and body as the sacrifice, the summon had a perfect focal point. 3b. If she gets killed, how would they know to resummon her? At this point, they most likely wouldn't. The amount of time and effort required to get the materiel needed would probably take too long to summon her again if it was needed, especially with the fall of the Castrums (or most of them) in Eorzea. 4. If they are saved, why would they resummon Memenu at all? Their plight is over. Exactly; why would they? Perhaps to help others who are as misfortunate as they were during their time subjugated to Garlean prisoners. While not everyone needs a savior, the realm needs a hero, no matter how unlikely they may be. -edit- Nako'li, http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Primal " it is said that the flux of aether over Silvertear Falls has been disrupted and the whole land of Eorzea will slowly perish if this process isn't reversed."
  7. What I'm reading on the FF wiki is that Primals are a threat due to their never-ending want of followers, crystals and Aether to increase their power. If this is correct, Memenu is a "non-threat" which is both unique and...Strange. I'm looking more into it, because I'm only getting this from the Moggle Mog page.
  8. I'm just curious as to what she could possibly say to convince anyone not to save the land itself from her existence? That there's far more important things to worry about than a Primal that's actively helping the adventurers do their job, not only destroying other Primals but crushing the Garleans among other things.
  9. The host's very soul is no more; a tribute to allow Memenu to move freely. The lack of capability to Temper, let alone use her full powers being a side-effect of a mortal body.
  10. quick trip through google brings this http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Lambs_of_Dalamud however, fair enough.
  11. 1a. Why does a small group pray to her and not say, the Twelve, like most other common Eorzeans? Loss of faith, a traumatic trigger, etc. The same could be asked for say, The Lambs of Dalamud. 1b. And those Primals are also massive, so smaller groups for smaller primals? 2. How do you plan to handle this if a Lalafellin host is being used as the vessel? She "gave up her body" would be the easiest explanation. A sacrifice for the "common good" so to speak. It's a cop-out, but it'd probably be easier than, say, "the cult kidnapped a random lalafell and used her as said sacrifice", or something. The body is a vessel, the flesh a limiter.
  12. 1. What happens when she is killed? Like most primals; She's sent back to the Aether. Death is obviously different for Primals, however I do not know if Primals, upon being summoned again, retain the memories of their "past lives". 2a. Are your Lalafellin slaves going to immediately re-summon her? Since they are not Tempered, and the physical body she was given was one of her 'followers' (as the body is a vessel containing a very small amount of her "Primal Strength" and the fact that there's actual limitations to physical flesh) and they are still under Garlean oppression, it'd take some time for the resources required if they weren't already pre-stocked (which is doubtful). 2b. Even despite her genocidal traits and threat against Hydaelyn? She's only genocidal towards those who harm Lalafell. This does not include basic things like name-calling and other such "petty things". While she dislikes Miqo'te and Elves, she's not going to be hostile towards them unless there's an actual reason. 3. So basically, what will she do when a band of adventurers is looming over Memenu with weapons? This is actually a question I've thought about for a fair while. Chances are, such a fight will not only be inevitable, but will not be the only one. If it comes down to it, Memenu will fight. She'll say her piece and if their resolve is to attempt to send her back to the Aether still holds, she will defend herself like any "person" would. I honestly am loving these questions, guys. It not only helping me [think], but these questions are very helpful for developing her more "realistically" lore-wise. I honestly thank you for asking them.
  13. ...Wouldn't that mean she'd be unkillable? (tldr reading comprehension issues) That is correct. A primal is unkillable. When they die their consciousness simply returns to the Aether. And then reform when summoned once more. A Primal is, as Warren said, a semi-deity of supernatural undying powers. While the conciousness is undying, the body isn't. However, I do understand the issues that are arising for calling her a Primal.
  14. This sounds both amusing and mildly disturbing. I like this idea.
  15. ...Wouldn't that mean she'd be unkillable? (tldr reading comprehension issues)
  16. Well, technically, since Moggle Mog isn't a primal, neither is Memenu as they were both created using the same means. They're more Guardians than anything else. However, I understand that yes, it probably would be easier and there'd be a lot less "red tape" so to speak to go through and other such hurdles. Though, sometimes it's best to try and take the trecherous path, as we may become more enlightened than if we took the safer path.
  17. ...Really? Has to be a coincidence. The name is also a result of the name generator squeenix released back before P4 beta. Either way, thank you for for dropping into the thread.
  18. A smaller, angrier midget. I legit giggled. 7/10 laugh, 8/10 because lasting smile. Enkidu is another example of a "Primal" that was a reincarnation of a real individual. Like Moggle Mog or Shiva. Enkidu was Gilgamesh's companion, but that companion was lost, so the memory of that companion reincarnated "Enkidu" as a Primal when Gilgamesh sat on a large stack of crystal-carrying crates and wished his friend would return to him. So, yep, crystals were used in the making of this Primal. ^^ And Diabolos is not a Primal in XIV's lore. He's a Voidsent King summoned during the War of the Magi and imprisoned by the Magi of Amdapor. Tempering is completely purposeful on the Primal's part. They have to actively want to Temper someone, it doesn't just happen on its own. Ifrit scorches his in fire. Leviathan drowns them. Bahamut tempers the soul of the dying before they depart for Thal's realm. Someone has to pick up Zantetsuken for it to temper them. Tempering aside though, the real danger of a Primal is their constant aether drain on the world - which was the concern in bullet #3. But I have to ask, if your character is a Primal... but doesn't Temper, and it sounds like you're trying to work around the constant aether drain, and isn't actively using their limited lifespan to flatten Garleans (as that's the purpose she was summoned for right?) what is the um point of having her being a Primal? I mean, being a Primal is an interesting concept to play with, but you've essentially eliminated half of what makes a Primal a Primal in order to mingle in day-in-the-life rp and so didn't really leave her with much... Primal-ness? I don't think the tortured Lalafells who summoned her to kill Garleans would be very pleased she's down at the tavern in Ul'dah engaging in idle conversation? I mean if the justification behind her being a Primal is just because you really wanna RP being a Primal, go for it - but I'd say really go all out and have her be a full fledged primal. Tempering, city-flattening power, constant aether drain, etc. I mean, you say you don't wanna be OP, but that's kinda... the whole point of a Primal? If they weren't OP no one would bother summoning them. Tempering itself is more a balance concern than an actual lore concern. Removing the ability just makes it easier to balance Memenu as a character. Just in case an RP battle ever comes up. "Removing the rattle from the baby" so to speak. In example; Memenu is weakened enough to be finished off, oh look, she just tempered half the damn city and now damn near close to full power. Again. It's boring, it's annoying, and it's more overpowered than anything else. The group summoned her to help them against not only their oppressors, but the oppressors of other Lalafell. She can facepunch Garlean after Garlean, but her corporeal form still needs rest. Even more so if her body is a vessel to contain her essence. (From a lore standpoint, I don't know if this is even possible. It's neither hinted nor denied. However, if a focus can be used to amplify the power of a Primal, I don't see it being an issue for one to sacrifice their very soul to use their body as a vessel for its power.) I don't know how Bahamut works other than being an Elder Primal, I haven't gotten through second coil, so I know very little about him(her? It?). I'd also rather ask questions than assume things that are wrong. Her being in the form that she is allows for open-endedness in that she's not a forced antagonist. She can always end up helping the Scions just because they have a common ground. Sure the Scions will probably be keeping a very close eye on what very much a loose cannon. Well, the thing is, since Moggle Mog isn't a Primal, neither is she. However; I don't see any real harm letting herself believe she is. -shrugs- The points you bring up are excellent questions; questions I wouldn't have thought of myself, but are very valuable to think within the lore limits of both the game and the lore of the world itself.
  19. Well, we know Bahamut was trapped in a moon, Odin is actually his sword And thank you for correcting me. Which opens up the issue of outside of being an angry midget, what is Memenu's true form?
  20. Character Name: Memenu Menu Nickname: Menu, Memenu, Meme, Memenu Menu Race/Clan: Lalafell Dunesfolk Gender: Female Character Role:Minor (Major) Villian/Ally? Echo (Warrior of Light): N/A Aspect (If Warrior of Light): N/A Personality: Childish, easily angered and rather naive. Rather gullible as well. Think Angry. Like hulk. More like Akuma. Mixed with Cirno. Background: A being from ancient lore given corporeal form, she hasn't existed for very long on Eorzea Strengths: Heavily specialized with fist weapons as well as swords and axes. Flaws: Very short tempered, her height obviously making her claims less... Impactful. Lacks the skills of "day to day" living. Sleeping and Eating are strange to her. Likes: Lalafell, the strange edible thing called cheesecake. Dislikes: Elves, Miqo'te (she thinks Miqo'te are a race of lalafell who were turned into cat people for being unworthy of the lalafell race) Appearance: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/37489965402517109/3B597BE24BB87647A792EA83824A5641555C6086/ Japanese Reading (Optional): I would assume it would just be the same in hiragana. めめぬ めぬ? Voice (Optional): Voice 4 for female lalafell Other Notes: While she's shorter than the average lalafell, the amount of damage she can do is very unexpected, her small frame barely able to contain the current strength she wields. Her favorite color is blue. For some peculiar reason, she always has a miniature dullahan (about half her height) always following her around. She finds it adorable and is almost inseparable from it.
  21. You're welcome to join in at anytime once you get Memenu fully fleshed out. She could be in a filler arc or something due to her being a Lalafell Primal. Lmao I'll think about that. ('-' ) be a great way to get an unlikely ally, too.
  22. to answer number 3; Iceheart acted as the catalyst for Shiva. With that said, upon Shiva's "death", Iceheart remained. I wonder what happened if the fervant prayer was used on one who was willing to sacrifice his or her "soul" for the Primal to use as a corporeal body. 3b) Remember, Enkidu was also a Primal (I...Think, I forgot. You can completely correct me if I'm wrong) in the Hildebrand scenarios and he(she?) didn't need crystals. ...To my knoweldge. Also; Greg's "final" form. Also, is Diabolos considered a Primal in Eorzean lore? 3c) As stated, Memenu's unique in that she cannot Temper others, so her "sphere" of influence will only grow by those who truly wish to believe in her. (I primarily chose to make this ability impossible as to not have any sort of "power" abuse. tldr; ability removed because generally it's OP.). 3d) Yes, killing Memenu can pose a very real concern. Her being in a lalafell form is also what she is described of in legends and ancient texts.
  23. Memenu's fighting style (as the ancient texts and fabled legends of her have described her as) is not the most elegant thing in the world. Her attacks are based off of intimidation and devastation, making her a powerhouse despite her small size (A "lightning bruiser" so to speak.) if she sees a weakpoint, she will exploit it, but she will do it with her own ability; no dirty tricks needed to finish a fight as quickly as it starts. ...Of course, none of this exactly helps her in day-to-day work since she doesn't have much knowledge in the "every day" life of Eorzeans. Even sleeping and eating are a bit "foreign" to her.
  24. While this is quite an interesting idea, I, being both a newcomer to the site and not exactly have Memenu fully fleshed out yet, do not think I qualify for joining in on this. With that said, Good luck.
