Being what she is, Memenu is fairly intelligent, but very naive due to how long she's been in existence. She's rather gullible, very childish and above all; very short tempered. Almost to the point of being completely irrational in her dealings with others. While she isn't "socially retarded", she does have serious problems not making a scene over her dislikes, though everything she sees she looks at with a child-like curiosity. Until it either angers her or she doesn't find it interesting. She dislikes Elves in general and believes Miqo'te are a race created from lalafell who were unworthy of being lalafell.

Oh, if it was argumentative, I would've asked. These are questions (damned good ones, mind you) that I haven't actually thought about until now, and it's really helping me flesh out a backstory that I haven't really thought of in the past. 1. That's why I brought up that she must have existed in some form in either legends, ancient texts or both. Who knows what countless tales were lost to the ages, only to be found by chance? A cult without a unified belief in the thing they're summoning probably wouldn't cause that thing to be summoned to begin with. 1b. Who knows how many shipments of crystals were "borrowed" from the Garleans, be it through a modified manifest here or there, or a "lost" box or two over a decent period of time. It's not exactly a secret as a whole that the Garlean military, as powerful as it is, doesn't have the best logistics in the world. 2. This was proven with Uncle Lou (Luisoix or however you pronunce his name) Invoking the power of the Twelve against Bahamut, people were legitimately afraid he might have summoned the Twelve during the battle of Cartenau. While, yes, summoning is bad, let it be known that Ramuh was not inherently bad as he wanted nothing to do like the other Primals. 3. Again, it's also highly probable that while dealing with the Garleans, they would've never known about the small group unless they paid very close attention to lalafell soldiers behaving a bit strange compared to the others (as in "patrolling" areas that normally hold no real interest to them) 3b. can't have something interesting without an extreme, can we? She dislikes elves, she won't kill 'em just because they annoy her. A list of her victims include Dragons, Garleans, Garlean machinery, Primals and for some reason a small dog.

1. Who Summoned Memenu? A group of Lalafell tortured, oppressed and suffering at the hands of the Garleans. This makes the most believable sense in both lore and in my opinon. 2. How do you rationalize the existence of a "Proto-Lalfell"? Like Moggle Mog, she had to have existed in some form of either legends or text. I know very little about the Lambs of Dalamud, but if there's a cult for wanting another Dalamud to drop on Eorzea, I don't think it'd be farfetched for a cult that wants to wish for something good. 3. How did Memenu and the group itself avoid the attention of the various factions that exist to stop this sort of thing? Let's face it, The Scions and the Garleans can't be everywhere at once. They can try, but realistically they cannot. With the increased hostility between the Garleans and the Eorzeans, the little group that summoned Memenu in the first place could've easily gotten past surveillance. Plus, if the Scions had caught wind of it, would they stop it, knowing that she'd be both a violent but very powerful potential ally?

That's what a Lots Pod looks like? Huh, the more you know. To be honest, it looks like there's tadpoles or something inside the holes.

Welcome, even though I'm rather new myself.

Way back when (like early 2000s), I used to roleplay a character that most would consider a villain. Damn good with a greatsword too. His name was Cael, but that is as far as I'm going with the past.

Memenu (the visual looks) was first conceptualised during phase 3 beta. Unsurprisingly, her look changed rather drastically, and one of her earliest looks can actually be found as an NPC in the Amal'jaa camp in South Thanalan (A lalafell gladiator talking to one of the Amal'jaa), however this NPC is purely coincidental despite the almost exact visual likeness to her first concept. http://i.imgur.com/Lk10V3y.jpg Memenu's first picture as of Phase 4 Beta. Noticeable differences are hair color, earrings, pale skin and differently shaped eyes. http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/37489778539836445/D43EDC9043734A8944A2FF766E272F339B3B642B/ Here's her current and and probably final incarnation. There's other differences, but they're minute compared to her Phase 4 version. Originally, Memenu was a "Pint-sized yet silly hero", but this was changed due to being fairly cliche, yet was still adorable because Lalafell emotes. During the time of 2.1, she shifted from being a hero to being a Pope. This was changed once more because I couldn't get it to feasibly work in-universe due to obvious reasons. Her current Backstory evolved around the time Moggle Mog (2.2?) came out, liking the idea that a being could be summoned into existence (without any elemental link, unlike Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, etc) if a large enough group both wished and believed in it, this sparked the start of her remold. "The pleas and cries of countless Lalafell fell on deaf ears, those suffering at the hands of others banded together; wishing for both a savior and safety. They believed in a protector who would save them from their hardships, from the Garleans, from the beastmen. They called forth a being formed of the unbridled rage of countless other Lalafell who both suffered and died at the hands of their foes." The thing is, if Moggle Mog isn't a Primal, then neither is Memenu. She'd just be a "Guardian" with Primal-like traits (IE being summoned by those who believe). However, unlike the Good King, she wasn't stopped by the Scions upon her first creation. That isn't to say she's an "antagonist", she's done a lot of good for the Realm. Helping crush the Garleans, the Primals, clear the Crystal Tower of defenses and has even clashed with Nael Van Darneus several times. She's violent, yes, but only to those that not only pose a threat to her Lalafellin protectees, but to that of the Realm itself. Personality-wise, being fueled by the rage of countless Lalafell makes for an interesting character. She's outright vicious in a fight, and the fury that fuels her shows it. She's angry. Like Hulk. More like Akuma. With Cirno from Touhou in the mix. However, the limits of the flesh are impressive, and she cannot go to full strength without the body decaying within mere seconds. (in layman's turns, her power is vastly limited, and if she ever remotely attempts full strength, back to the Aether she goes without posing much of a threat, ever.) She's really childish, and due to her (very limited) time on Eorzea, sometimes very naive and easily tricked. Her intelligence is fairly high, but when it comes to things like every day things, she's completely aloof. Apparently the ones who summoned her didn't think about her need to cook. Unlike the Primals, she cannot increase her strength. She cannot utilize crystals like the Primals, she cannot Temper others. Her strength is based around those who believe in her, and even that has its limits (as stated above). -edit- That's cool, I posted and it ate my entire post. -sighs- Though she's still a bit rough around the edges, personality and whatnot-wise, I'm always open for suggestions on improving.

Thanks. I need to brush up about my in-world lore a bit, because I honestly can't remember if Moggle Mog is classified as a Primal or not in-universe. I admit Memenu's bio is rather rough at the moment, but Lalafell characters are more or less completely safe around her.

Backstory to me is important to a point. As people have said; too much backstory causes problems with the future, and too little makes the character hard to understand. An example of too little is Memenu; a lalafell brought into existence by the pleas and wishes of lalafell who suffer through Eorzea as a sole prayer for help. Until this point; there's literally nothing about her, and her time (albeit short on Eorzea) still may not be enough to fully flesh her out. Originally, the whole Primal thing was a joke, she was originally a Pope (which was an in-guild pun that somehow became rather popular), and mutated into her becoming a Primal because it apparently became a running gag in the linkshell I'm in. (Non-RP linkshell, sadly.) tldr I think I'm hi-jacking the thread, sorry.

It's more like an instance of what if the Lalafell summoned a being into existence like Good King Moggle Mog, though in this case something with a fury of a thousand suns that dislikes elves. Ah. I must ask though, are you Icly referring to your character as a Primal (example: she believes she is) or Icly playing out that she actually is one? Little of column A, a little of column B, unlike other Primals, she can't "Temper" others. ('-' ) Well, I welcome you to the site. Be warey that many may not accept that your character is a Primal and icly laugh at her. I know my character would play it off that she is perhaps under a temper herself or mental anguish to give her the idea that she is a primal and would probably try and study her. ( '-') for all intents and purposes, lore-wise, she [isn't] a primal in the way Leviathan, Ifrit, Titan, etc are. Though IIRC Good King Moggle Mog isn't considered a Primal either. With that said, it's a gimmick I kept because Memenu is a bit like Cirno (Touhou) with a meanstreak like Akuma (Streetfighter) ( 'o')~♪

Death and how your character handles it.
Viola replied to Makyn Loneseeker's topic in Character Workshop
- How does your character deal with killing? A Primal born of the wishes and prayers of a better life by oppressed and suffering lalafell have culminated into a rather merciless monster in the form of a Lalafell. Memenu Menu is not emotionless, but the ones she has killed she has no remorse. - How did your character feel after his/her first kill? As indifferent as her most recent; Death is an inevitable part of the cycle of life. A Primal's concept of death is much different to that of a mortal's; if she dies, she's returned to the aether, only to come back even more pissed off than before. - Does your character mull over it later on? No, as of question two's reasoning. -
Memenu Menu Battle intro: 全てを見抜く眼光 ~ 3rd Eye - Tutti-Sound Victory: I figured as much, another fool who thought they could stop a true Primal. Defeat: she drops her weapons, falling onto her knees and hands "D-Do not think... That this is over...!" Assist: You will know the fury of the Primal of the Lalafell! Taunt: Do you hear them calling? The slain who wish for you to join them?! Reacting to Taunt: Once I cause your face to cave in, I'll rip you limb from limb! Flee: Even Primals have their limits...I have reached mine. Reacting to Flee: Go ahead, run! You'll only die tired after I punch a hole through your spine! Tie: There's no possible way a Primal can be matched by a mortal... Perfect Victory: Pathetic. I had better practice killing Vishnap.

There are tales of her; a lalafell dressed in cloth of deepest blue. A fury so unrelenting that it made Ifrit's fires look tame. A resolve so strong that not even Titan's might could scratch it. Many who had seen her claimed her presence wasn't that of a "Warrior of Light", but a Primal in the tiny form of a Lalafell. Those who tried to stop her stood little chance; monster, man. It didn't matter. Her vicious onslaught frightened even the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and the three city-states as a whole. Many claim it was the cries of anguish and despair of the countless lalafell who suffered under oppression are what summoned her. Others claim she is the incarnation of blood lust itself. While her creation is not certain, one thing is; those who are "graced" with Memenu Menu's presence shall be judged.
