  1. Welcome to the forums. While I know a few people on Gilgamesh, I highly doubt (read; completely unlikely) they're RPers. I wish you good luck in at least meeting friends, though.
  2. - How does your character deal with killing? Viola revels in it. While she doesn't remember her tribal life as a child, she remembers how exhilarating it is to kill others. Partially from her Dotharl bloodline, partially from her Dark Knight training; Viola is as much a slave to the kill as she is its mistress. - How did your character feel after his/her first kill? Her first (remembered) and second kills were a pair of innocent people; an old jewelcrafter and his wife. She was 9 at the time and on a whim, lulled them into taking her in and killed them both. She loved their screams. The kills were like the sweetest of nectars to her. - Does your character mull over it later on? She missed being free, at first. Killing the two had ended her up under the "care" of a Dark Knight who, instead of killing her, subdued and captured her. Now, Viola is thankful. Thankful that she learned to become judge, jury and executioner.
  3. Objection. How would you take evidence if the scene doesn't exactly show details of said event happening? Use our mind?
  4. I could help you two out, but there's one snag. We're not on the same server and I do not have the money for a transfer.
  5. Congratulations on your child. And if I may ask, what did you name her?
  6. Work in progress bio: Viola Dorthal. All she knew was her name, a name that was one-half slave, one-half her tribe. She couldn't remember her true name anymore nor her "old life" as a child other than the constant violence she was so used to. A slave to violence. That's what she was, but she was as much its mistress as she was its slave. How strange, she thought, that she'd end up becoming a literal slave at the turn of her ninth summer when she had found and decided to kill a poor jewelcrafter and his wife. Make no mistake, she had killed them but in turn she was bested by a passing Dark Knight, attacking him with such a ferver and sustaining wounds that made him impressed and instead of killing her, he subdued her and as punishment forced her to wear the brooch that crafter had finished making for her before his death. Yes, that was as far as she could remember. The first time she was called "Viola". A constant reminder of the Jewelcrafter and his wife that she had murdered for the sake of doing so. She had tried constantly at first to break away from her captor and every single time he would stop her, one time even purposely breaking one of her legs so she couldn't run. He never tortured her and he always treated her sternly, like a father to a misbehaving child. She had hated him. She liked killing and the one time she had gotten the chance to kill him in his sleep, she wouldn't. She couldn't. During this time with the knife in her hand, she became hurt, the want to kill the very man who had "captured" her in the first place not there. The next few years, the Dark Knight taught her how to use a greatsword, knowing full well she could never turn against him, even if she wanted to. How to channel her murderous intent into a focused art instead of just for pleasure. He trained her down to the very basics of even interacting with people, forcing her to act as a "princess" should. Of course, she never understood why she should act like royalty, but he had made it perfectly clear that she would act lady like or she'd be punished for it. Of course, he never said she couldn't kill others, but he made it one of his core teachings that death were for those who deserved it. "Not the innocent", he said. "You will kill who I say, and you will not object." At this point, they had a bond, even despite their differences, and how much she still showed dislike for him at times, she could only nod in agreement. On her fifteenth summer, she was finally free. Free to do whatever she pleased. With a smile, she held the very crystal he had used as a Dark Knight, his training etched completely into the fiber of her being. Free to roam. Free to kill. Or so she had thought. The first person she had come across was a lalafell. A plainsfolk. Before the little merchant could cry for help, she unsheathed her zweihander, only for the blade to literally stop within ilms of his face. Before she could react, the now middle-aged Dark Knight, who had somehow trailed her dropped her onto the ground, disarming her at the same time. She didn't remember much after that, having felt the blow of the side of the blade just before being knocked out from the impact. It has been four years since then. No more the disobedient child, she took a deep breath. The Dark Knight who had captured and raised her was now proud of her as she bowed politely. The young Au Ra, now grown up, had become what the Dark Knight called a "perfect princess", she followed everything he said, practically being with him every chance she had until one day where he had handed her the very crystal she had tried to steal before. "Go forth and make me proud, daughter." It was the first time she cried, and not long after, she set out to Ishgard like he had requested, to find the history of the group known as 'Dark Knights.'
  7. One half was implemented in a patch, I believe. This makes sense because if an Au Ra walked into an area with other players that didn't have the files necessary to render said Au Ra, everyone's clients would most likely crash.
  8. I know an LS that I can hook you up with. I'll be on at around 4:30~5 PM EST (at the earliest) today, please send Viola Dorthal a friend invite at around that time if you can.
  9. I know some people that'll hook you up, I'm part of the RP community there, though how big the RP community actually is I cannot say. My character is Viola Dotharl.
  10. Missed that tribe, apparently. Then again, I miss alot of things.
  11. Doubtful. Lorewise, Xaela more or less hate the Raen for "being weak" and becoming "civilized". Then again, when we have birds that look like they weigh a ton and a half flying on tiny as hell wings and catgirls and dragongirls, I think at that point anything is more or less possible.
  12. While I don't exactly agree with Melkire, I've always been the the type of person who enjoys diving into the fight first and being the last to leave. For me, tanking isn't about being a perfectionist, but about "if I don't do it, someone else will". Everyone has horror stories of bad tanks. I never found tanking "hard". I always found it as a way to push myself. That isn't to say that everyone can do it well at first. You need extensive knowledge of both what you can do with your current gear, a good guess of what your healer and DPS are capable of and generally knowledge of any and all mechanics to that dungeon/fight. I'm not good with observational learning (IE watching videos and knowing exactly what to do from said videos) and it's one of my biggest weaknesses, but you give me a few runs doing the content in question, I guarantee you I'll be doing it like I've been doing it for months. I learn quickly, and when it comes to Coil, it's probably one of [the best] qualities I have. But be warned, no matter how good of a tank you are, you're only as effective as your healer. Sure you can just straight total beast mode a dungeon while undergeared, but it's not going to change the fact that if your healer can't keep you up, you're going to die and you're going to get blamed. Generally speaking, people say tanking is a thankless job. I don't agree, it's the best role to play when you're helping new kids out, since you're able to control everything they may be worrying about. Me helping them out is enough thanks I need. tldr; Tanking requires time and practice. Nobody gits gud as soon as they start the class. They need to familiarize and understand the kinks of their class. If you ever need pointers from a veteran in the world of tanks (pun intended, hue), just ask me. We need more good tanks in the world, and a good tank is going to get very popular very quickly.
  13. Still, with the Xaela's constant fighting between its tribes, I think they'd be more naturally attuned to the aether that Monks use.
  14. Could just say she was raised by Raein. There you go, everything's fixed. ( 'o')~♪
  15. Oh, that set. yeah, that set is garbage looking.
  16. Well, with the fact that her body was dying from the need to push the original vessel past its mortal limits, that'd be the best way to do it.
  17. What are you talking about? It's amazing. It makes sense too, considering their style of fighting. Armored legs and hands with some shoulder protection. The set for MNK's AF set aren't only sacred, but they're meant to have a practical use. The armor on the hands and feet are meant for the MNK to hit harder (and potentially capable of deflecting blows) than they otherwise would be able to if they didn't. The shoulder guards allowing for their primary form of engagement (shoulder tackle) to be even more painful than otherwise could.
  18. You know, being a completely normal, non-demigod au ra would fit current lore quite well. Oh man, I actually giggled because of how I read your post. A giggle I needed too. Yeah, I probably [should] do that. The hurdles needed to jump through just to make the Primal thing remotely viable is a headache in itself. With that said, I don't believe "Viola" would be a proper name for a Xaela due to their naming conventions.
  19. Sorry for the mild Hiatus, guys. I was getting a feel for my Au Ra by using her emotes and whatnot. Surprising that Au Ra - of all races - has ridiculously good anger management skills (taken from /angry and /furious respectively). Now that I'm back, it's time to get to work on a new backstory. Since the picture is 1920 x 1080, I wrapped it in spoiler tags. As you can see, I based the colors of her off of Memenu. Her name right now is "Viola Dotharl". With that said, I'll continue to post as I throw around a few ideas in my head for her. Two ideas are Memenu 'obtaining' a new body or something that more appropriately fits current known lore.
  20. Welcome to the forums. If you see a little lalafell constantly yelling at Miqo'te and calling them unworthy lalafell, you found the Primal of the Lalafell. ('-' )
  21. From my experience with DRK, I'm going to say it's damn near close to borderline. The only thing that makes it balanced is the total lack of utility when off-tanking. When it comes to main-tanking though, hoo boy, I highly doubt you'll lose aggro ever, period.
  22. I haven't decided on which Au Ra sub-clan I'll be choosing (Raen or Xaela), but if I do choose to go with Xaela, it's going to be Dotharl.
  23. Be a bit suspicious if a slave died under work of a Noble, I'd think.
  24. I unlocked DRK and am currently sitting at level 22. Shame it doesn't have priority queues, but it should soon enough.
