Tyonis

Fun Facts: Tyonis was once known as the "Prince of the Bloodsands" because of his noble birth. He later changed his title from Prince to Mongrel after fostering a deep hatred of his lineage. "Mongrel of the Bloodsands" was a reference to his illegitimacy, but later become a moniker for his brutal and animalistic fighting style. Tyonis is incompatible with regular magical theories because of his phobia of magic and teleportation. His aversion is so prevalent that he will forgo magical treatment for all but lethal wounds. Although he has grown somewhat accustomed to magic in the last five years, he still suffers from extreme nausea after teleporting. Dancing is one of Tyonis' favorite hobbies. Owing to his aristocratic up-bringing, Tyonis is skilled in a variety of formal dances as well as few colloquial ones. Tyonis has grown to scorn his lineage, preferring his associates to call him by his first name, his other surname, or his Mongrel moniker. Tyonis is an unrepentant womanizer. He enjoys the challenge of seducing women almost as much he does bedding them. Tyonis is a perpetual pauper - it is almost as if he has been cursed by the Twelve to be eternally poor. Despite being a Midlander, Tyonis was dubbed "the Trueblade" by the Highlanders tribesmen with whom he lived and fought alongside. He quickly grew to love the title and took it as his surname in typical Highlander tradition. "Trueblade" is a reference to the Fire Emblem character archetype of the same name. In the Japanese version of FE, Trueblade is replaced with "Kensei" which means Sword Saint/Saint of Swords, a moniker for legendary swordsmen like King Arthur, Lancelot of the Lake, and Miyamoto Musashi.

5. Tyonis Trueblade (disowned bastard of the Magstrom noble family) male Hyur Midlander or Highlander (leaning towards Midlander).
6. Was really an enjoyable read. I might have to change Tyonis' surname to reflect his profession though.... But Tyonis Murderingpsychopath doesn't sound as great.
7. "Ha! Pay up! You don't survive on the Bloodsands as long as I have without a grotesque amount of luck! Now, where was I..." Tyonis stood atop an ever-growing pile of corpses. Like a deranged animal, he howled at the red moon; the thrill of battle coursed through his veins like a drug. Eyes gleaming, Tyonis cut another bloody swathe through the Garlean ranks. But the bullet of a gunblade abruptly ended his berzerking rampage, bringing his senses to the forefront. Stunned, Tyonis clutched his face as the slug ricocheted off his helm. He tore it off his head with a curse and hurled it at the offending Garlean. As he raised his gunblade to block, Tyonis drove his own sword through the man’s chest. He charged through and impaled another Garlean behind him. The Mongrel growled in satisfaction and savagely kicked the two corpses off his fang. A band of Grand Company soldiers, their banners mixed and obscured with blood, rushed in through the gap in the Garlean ranks. Their immediate presence gave Tyonis a small respite to scan the battlefield and catch his breath. “Dead even,” Tyonis hissed. The remainder of the VIIth Legion fought hard and Tyonis had to give hisenemies the credit they deserved. Despite the combined efforts of the Grand Companies, a bloody deadlock was all they could manage. But eventually the Legion’s resources would run out; in a war of attrition, the forces of Eorzea would triumph. Tyonis allowed himself a grim smile. Then, the world exploded. Tyonis sailed through the air like a ragdoll and landed hard against a rocky outcropping. His vision swam but he fought back the bile rising in his throat. Slowly, he rose to a weak stand, his sword reduced to a mere cane. Off in the distance, a giant tower fell, scattering friend and foe. A red glow illuminated the battlefield, drawing his gaze to the sky. Dalamud hug over him, like the sun in the night. Tyonis danced with death. For most of his life, he played an excitingly cruel game with Thal. And they both enjoyed it. He savored the taste of death on his tongue; the feel of life he cut it away with his sword. But this was no game. There were no odds to be fought. No pain or pleasure to be had. Tyonis was a Mongrel, a vicious animal born from bloodshed. But like all animals, he could sense a superior, insurmountable predator. He took a step back. He quickly found himself sprinting away from that hellish, red glare. Many soldiers begun to flee, their morale shattered. A chocobo rider bearing a flag he could not discern bellowed orders, whipping those that dared to retreat without warrant. For a moment, he admired the rider’s tenacity then quickly relabeled it as idiocy. If the rider wanted to die so badly, Tyonis would happily oblige. But the Mongrel needed that mount. As Tyonis closed the distance, he swept up a discarded lance and hurled it at the rider. It ripped the man off his chocobo, killing him instantly. The bird reared but Tyonis caught the reins and pulled it down. He threw himself over its back and whipped it into a maddened gallop. Fire erupted around him as Dalamud shattered, but Tyonis ignored the ensuing chaos; he poured all of his focus into steering his mount through the danger. A monstrous roar echoed behind him - no, to call it a roar would be to imply it came from the vibration of a being’s vocal cords. It was more like a shockwave of sound that threatened to shatter every bone in his body. Tyonis spared a single glance over his shoulder and immediately whipped his head back to the cataclysm before him - without a doubt, Bahamut was death incarnate. Instinctively, he knew he could not escape the dragon's wrath, even at the chocobo’s frantic pace. His eyes scanned the approaching landscape and spotted a cave. Without thinking, Tyonis veered his mount into the tunnel and followed it down. Even this far away, he could feel the Aether burn around him. His death inched ever closer, like a pair of flaming hands slowly coiling around his throat. The ground shattered beneath his mount. Tyonis heard the snapping of bone, and cried out. He felt no pain, but knew that the chocobo had been lamed. And with it crippled, his slim hope for survival vanished. He landed in a roll and cursed the dying chocobo. “Kweh… Kweh…” It stared at him, painfully, gasping for air.As his skin began to burn, Tyonis drew his dagger. He sat next to the bird and stroked its head before driving his knife through the back of its skull, killing it instantly. The Mongrel reclined on his makeshift bed-rest, eyes closed and head tilted back, resigned to his fate. The cave began to glow red with heat. Steam filled the tunnel. It became hard to breathe, so Tyonis tore off his chainmail. He threw his knife away and replaced it with a flask, drinking generously and raising it in a silent toast to these last few flickers of his life. The life he led could not be considered good by the lengthiest stretch of imagination; but it was not entirely bad. "It was a life worth dying for." He concludes with a grin, liquor trailing down his cheek. The cave collapsed around him, unable to bear the extreme change in heat and pressure. Tyonis slowly opened his eyes; finally ready to meet his death. To his chagrin, an underground river rushed to fill the tunnel and washed the screaming Mongrel away… “Looking back, I always bet on the river. I just didn't expect an actual river, that time.”
8. First of all, great video. Second of all, my character will be wandering around Eorzea to see all the changes the last 5 years have wrought, so he wouldn't mind joining an exploring company. As long as it paid well.
9. I understand the need to actually PLAY the game in addition to RPing. As you said, there is also an MMO social life. In order to address this, OOC social shells like Backstage are created to promote communication between the wide variety of RPers. Backstage has been used to create leveling and Primal hunting parties. Towards the End of an Era, it saw much use when creating parties to finish all the story quests. As for me, I do value playing the game almost as much as I do RPing, and odds are, I will be joining you, shouting LFG FOR GARUDA FIGHT in Ul'dah's market streets and spamming the OOC social shells for people to join, haha!
10. Both? lol. Meh, good stuff is good, but bad stuff is also good. Just take it in stride!
11. Thanks! I am excited to see what all the experience entails! And cookies are always a deliciously good thing lol. LOL I wish you the very best experiences! Both good and bad!

Tyonis

Special Abilities: Trueblade - Although Tyonis boasts a myriad of combat skills, chief among them is his prowess with the sword. After living and fighting alongside various Highlander tribes, Tyonis was eventually dubbed Trueblade, a surname he prefers over that of his real one. Mage of the Aether Channels - A unique Thaumuturgical theory practiced by few Highlander tribes and passed down from master to apprentice. Its practitioners must possess extraordinary physical ability to survive the training. There is a religious and spiritual aspect to the theory, but Tyonis never bothered to learn it. Bearer of the Cloak and Dagger - Although he dislikes subversive activities, Tyonis is an accomplished thief and a passable assassin. Hardy Survivalist - Thanks to his time living in Thanalan and Ul'dah, Tyonis grew skilled in wasteland survival techniques, but his adventures abroad have expanded his knowledge to many other environments. Man of Great Fortitude - One of Tyonis' most dangerous traits is his innate ability to shrug off wounds, injuries, and poisons that would outright kill any regular humanoid. Son of the Aristocracy - Despite being overshadowed by his brutalism, Tyonis' training and experience as a man of nobility has been indispensable.

16. A battle is a life-or-death fight between two nearly matched entities, so what occurred between Carbuncle and the cloaked Hyur could only be called a slaughter. It was often said that cornered animals only fought that much harder. But Mongrels knew exactly how to deal with such dangerous desperation. He lifted his mace over his head, cocking back his first blow. The familiar leapt at him, teeth bared to rip out his throat. Tyonis smashed his mace into the creature’s skull, ripping it from the air and hammering it into the ground with brutal pragmatism. His mace followed through, mercilessly. At such speeds, his arm may have broken if he made direct contact with the hard ground, but Carbuncle’s Aetheric flesh softened the impact. A second strike silenced the creature’s piteous whines. A third strike crushed its twitching body. As the familiar began to disperse, Tyonis came to a full stand, his eyes following the Miqo’te as the boy shoved his way through the crowd. It was a common tactic for older street-rats to use novice thieves as bait for the authorities while the more experienced pickpockets and shoplifters took advantage of the distraction. What the Miqo’te did was much the same. The strong lived by devouring the weak; it was one of the only laws that applied to both the wealthy and the destitute. “The weak are food for the strong,” Tyonis begins, a grim smile visible beneath his hood. “But devouring your own familiar must leave a terrible taste in your mouth, boya.” He says to the empty air between them. Whether or not the Miqo’te heard him over the thong, Tyonis could not say, but he was sure those ears were not just for show. As the Miqo’te vanished, the Yellow Jackets finally made their appearance. After a swift questioning, Tyonis used his mace and pointed the guardsmen in the direction of the thief. Without another word, they gave chase. The swordsman stood silently as the guards rushed past him. He made no effort to pursue. With their fascination sated, the gathering finally started to scatter, and the hooded figure disappeared into the crowded market streets once more.

Character Biography: Tyonis Magstrom was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and a golden sword in his hand. Bastard and Heir Apparent the Magstrom lineage, a noble family renown in Ul'dah for raising cunning politicians and unparalleled warriors, Tyonis was trained from birth to swoon with the aristocracy and slay anyone else. Like many young men, he dreamed of fighting on the Bloodsands, gaining favor for himself and his family. But at the age of ten, Valen Magstrom would be born and christened the Magstrom Heir, on grounds of legitimacy. Grief-stricken and mad with rage, Tyonis attempted to murder his baby brother only to be rebuffed and formally disowned by his father. Shamed, he retreated into the backalleys of Ul'dah with nothing but a bag of coins and a sword strapped to his back. He would spend a year accruing the funds to enter the Bloodsands, thus fulfilling a life-long dream and regaining his honor; however his experiences as a gladiator would forever taint his idyllic worldview. Young Tyonis became an egotistical cynic, driven by his base instincts and the thrill of battle. Two years prior to the End of an Era, Tyonis met a woman who changed his life: Alona Rhys. Through his experiences with Alona, Tyonis would regain a part of himself thought long dead. With her support, Tyonis returned to his family estate to formally acknowledge his younger brother as the Magstrom Patriarch in place of his deceased father. Tyonis returned the blade he had stolen the night he was disowned to commemorate the appointment. He would continue traveling with Alona before being called by the Sultansworn to combat the Garlean threat. Half-dead and amnesic, Tyonis eventually returned to Ul'dah one year later to find Alona gone. His personality and demeanor were greatly changed thanks to the trauma of war. The great flame of his soul that threatened to consume everything around him lay smothered and replaced by a strained benevolence. He struggled with the emergence of his new personality and the recurring flashes of his old life until his disappearance on the Battle of Carteneau Flats. Against all odds, Tyonis survived to travel the world, searching for the love of his life. Five years after the Dalamud's fall, he finds himself on Eorzean soil once more. Current Status: Briefly reunited with Sterne Evans while sightseeing in Gridania.
