  1. He wasn't that bad.. Incredibly unfair, and luck-based most of the time, but hey.. We need another Absolute Virtue
  2. I am somewhat confused as to whether this should go here or in Off-topic, but I suspect that it is FFXIV related enough, that here'll be fine. Based on Yoshi-P's comment in regards to how he wanted iconic bosses from previous entries in the series to appear in ARR, I thought that we should post about the ones that we'd like to see. A few recurring enemies that seemingly have been verified are Omega/Ultima Weapon and Demon Wall, also Siren and Gilgamesh were confirmed ages ago, Siren will be a Primal, Gilgamesh's role is still uncertain. Personally, I'd get a kick out of it if we got a fight similar to Ozma from FFIX, perhaps the remnants of Dalamud or a Dalamud-prototype could make for a fight similar to it.
  3. Seems like I now have to hop betwixt three servers.. Oh well, shouldn't be wanting for activity at least, huzzah!
  4. I'll just be hopping betwixt servers like a rabid ferret it seems.. Oh well, at least there is likely to be no shortage of entertainment when such is the case.

  6. In general I never take credit for slaying a named foe, as others have already mentioned. Certainly, I might have run into a giant Bomb-like creature, which split into several Grenades once I thought that I had finished it, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it was -THE- Mama Bomb. In a similar vein, I never regard the big bads as canonically dead, until new lore is added to reflect this.. For example in Guild Wars 2, Zhaitan the big bad dragon of Undeath was canonically dead/defeated by the release of the first Southsun Cove content patch (a fact that many have decided to overlook, but that is besides the point), from that point forward I wouldn't have raised an eyebrow at someone who claimed to be a part of the Pact's Airship forces who took part in that battle and came out of it alive.. If someone claimed to be a part of the group that went toe-to-toe with him.. I might be a bit more pensive.
  7. I am a CET resident, and will likely have a character on Balmung, just to keep in touch with the primary RP community, but otherwise I'll hop around on Hyperion.
  8. This is a subject that I think I have come upon in every single RP community that I've been a part of to date.. And I am afraid that I simply do not understand the anxiety surrounding it. In regards to RP, I never have more than 2 active characters, but that certainly doesn't prevent me from creating alt upon alt upon alt upon alt. For me it is just as much to experience what the game has to offer besides the RP that my "main" partakes in, as it is an outlet for various character concepts that I've come up with on various occasions. I thoroughly enjoy having a variety of characters to pick and choose from, although I still do have a tendency to delete and recreate certain characters when the time where I want to RP them arrives.. In fact my altitis/altoholism/alt-(insert medical sounding suffix here) often serves as my primary way of experience the game, as those characters that I RP with tend to get stuck at a certain level every now and again, when part of an over-arcing story.. Which means that I end up spending more time playing on my various alts. Huzzah for Alts!
  9. Limsa ain't such a bad place to begin yer 'venturin' of ol' Eorzea. Just ye be watchin' out fer them boatless troublemakers, the Twelve know we 'ave more than 'nough o' them, also be sure ta sharpen yer blade fer the blasted fishbacks makin' their homes on our fair coast. Kidding aside, I don't see why you should let your story be limited by such a mechanic. Your character could still be an axe-wielding "smack-you-in-the-head" fighter, who begins his/her journey in Gridania. Gameplay-wise you'll just have to wait till level 10 (to be able to switch class) or 15 (the story quests allow you to travel to other city-states at this point).
  10. With two months left, I don't think that we'll have any chance of that. Yoshi-P and the ARR team have also been rather.. Bad, at keeping new things hidden from us players, so if they had any plans of adding a greatsword-wielding class for launch, we'd have already something distinct about it, rather than just rumours.
  11. I think that the major disagreement that most of the general LoZ fanbase has with Wind Waker is the major difference is art-style that it has when compared to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, as well as the Zelda graphical demo that was shown when the Gamecube was originally revealed. That said Wind Waker is the first, in my own humble opinion at least, LoZ game to actually give you that grand sense of exploration, as you raced across the waves.. Not to mention that despite the highly stylised graphics it was (and still is) incredibly beautiful to behold.
  12. Ah yes Fado's theme.. One of the oft overlooked gems of Wind Waker, I suppose it might lie with the fact that it is a reorchestrated version of the intro theme.
  13. And some more to please the gentlemen and ladies.. Presenting various versions of Gerudo Valley. [video=youtube] [video=youtube] [video=youtube]

    Bahamut

Be sure to fill us non legacy bloats in! I am anxious to see how my character finds all this stuff out icly. I am assuming they will tell non legacy somehow as well. Just in a diff way. *ahem* NEVER! Forever will you stay in the darkness of ignorance, whilst those of song and legend reign supreme, SUPREME I SAY!
  15. Boko and Coco are already taken by the party appearing in the CG sequences.. I shall dub him: "Grand Kweh", and all will rejoice at the sound of his name.
  16. Just my kind of thread: [video=youtube] [video=youtube]

    Bahamut

Considering that the Crystal Tower, which suddenly appeared around the same time that Bahamut disappeared, was hinted to be placed on top of Bahamut's Labyrinth. Perhaps the ritual didn't work as intended, but it still had some delayed unknown effect. Although beyond that theory, I am in the let us wait and see category.. Perhaps we'll know a bit more when we get access to our legacy characters.
  18. Harp-bows are the best invention ever! And considering your idea, the Red Mage could wield muskets equipped with spike-bayonets.. Thus imitating their common weapon of choice. Sorta like the Harp-bow of the Bard.
  19. Thinking about it.. Axes have never really been popular in the Final Fantasy series. Apart from Berserkers, and now Marauders and Warriors of XIV (and XI I suppose), they've never really been all that well represented.. This could mean that we'll get something new and unique in the form of a second Marauder job.. Could be rather intriguing, if that is the case. Either that, or Dark Knights will use Scythes and branch off from Marauders I suppose..
  20. It has been mentioned off-handedly as something they were looking into adding, but nothing concrete has been stated. It was mentioned during the E3 Letter from the Producer Live, that we'll get new classes before the first expansion is to be released, but that could be any amount of time beyond launch.
  21. I am blue, dabba dee dabba di~ Possible alternative.. Most likely not.
  22. I am still hoping for the Musketeer and Thief to be mixed somehow. Gundaggers.. Oh yeah. Considering that Yoshi mentioned the addition of new classes BEFORE the first expansion, both the Thief and the Musketeer seem the likely choices.. Along with the long rumoured Dark Knight.
  23. I was pretty set on it, before the reveal of both the XBox One and the PS4. However, I've never been a fan of the XBox consoles, so there was no doubt in my mind that I'd get either the Wii-U or the PS4.. Most likely both at some point.
  24. I recall that when Fabula Nova Crystallis was first revealed alongside FFXIV, it was said that XIV alongside XV would herald the main series' return to High Fantasy.. As such I am a little miffed that VS. XIII got promoted to XV.. Not that I don't like the Science-Fantasy genre that they've been going with for most of the numbered titles since VII (some would argue VI), but I was looking forward to another single-player High Fantasy FF. With that aside I did (and still do) love what little they showed us of VS. XIII, so I can imagine it being a great game.
  25. The fun of playing SCH was juggling between light and dark magics, strategizing with your grimoires, and keeping the weather around you and your party set to the element you want. It does make me wonder about how it mixes with Geomancer, now that Seekers of Adoulin is out.. I can imagine that having the Geomancer's weather-reliant spells being guaranteed will be a pretty huge boon.
