  1. Formerly a F-15 engine mechanic in the USAF. 4 years as a systems administrator after that. Now? Full-time college student using his GI Bill. Working on getting a Bachelors degree in Digital Forensics. Oh, and I'm also an English tutor a few hours a week at my college, but that doesn't pay much.
  2. I think I inadvertently created the FF version of a Power Ranger today x_x
  3. Vale and his wife are opening a detective agency. Here's what the mysterious house they live in decided to do to Vale's room after he finally agreed. They're available for hire now

  5. Never gotten into the Gunpla aspect (I bought a Unicorn Gundam Master Grade kit, opened it up, and then closed it and never looked at it again ) but I love most of the UC Gundam stuff. Of course, the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam was probably my favorite, then all the Char's Counterattack stuff. Unicorn Gundam, aside from the "space magic" ending, was awesome all the way through... and now they have the new OVA's coming out that are covering Char's history. Gundam Wing was pretty good. I think that was my first Gundam anime like many others. I also watched Seed and 00, but was less impressed by them after having watched stuff like the original Gundam, War in the Pocket, 08th MS Team, and even Turn A Gundam (I found myself annoyed at several points in this series, but it all came together in the end). So, yeah. I'd say I'm a pretty big Gundam fan.

  8. THMs can feasibly channel their aether through any manner of weapon so long as it possesses the proper materials: a gemstone and an aether-conductive metal such as silver, gold, or electrum. Bone also works as a conductive material and is often thought to be far superior to metal alternatives. The Order of Nald'thal has a special set of ritual daggers that they use to cast certain... arcane... magicks. So yes, this is feasible with weapons other than staves. Technically, the Zodiac weapons are not one of a kind because the ones you make in game are imitations using similar processes to forge the weapon. The originals have all been lost. Now, can you infuse your own aether into a weapon? Yes! This is actually what spiritbinding is and is how you create Aetherial weapons (the pink ones that drop out of dungeons). When people die, their aether gets ripped from their bodies and saturates the immediate area. If enough saturates a piece of armor or weapon, that equipment becomes aetherially enhanced (and can actually act as a lodestone for the soul to attach to which leads into soul crystals...). So all of this is within lore. My question is - are you planning on infusing aether into a weapon to create an aetherially enhanced, weaker zodiac-inspired weapon? Or are you trying to get a weapon you can channel Thaumaturgy through? Because the difference is that one is permanently infusing aether into an object (spiritbinding) and the other is using a normal weapon as a channel for aether manipulation (thaumaturgy). Thaumaturges do not infuse their aether into the weapon to make it more powerful, they merely use the materials which make up the weapon to better cast their magicks. The same can be said of Conjurers' staves or Arcanists' grimoires. Thanks for the super-detailed response! Both you and Jena provided a lot of good information. To answer your question: The former rather than the latter, although I can work with either if the former is less optimal. The question is, can one permanently meld their own aether into a weapon? Or would it have to come from an external source? i.e. Kill some voidsent or some other creature to infuse their aether into the weapon itself? I want to make sure that when I'm writing this out it's all believable and holds true to lore. I don't plan on making my character 'anime' or super-powerful. In fact, I don't even believe I'm going to make his weapon much better than a normal weapon. It'll just have some aether infused into it and a bit of a glow around the blade.
  9. This is something I've been wondering about and I haven't found anything concrete on the subject (yet). So, my question is: What are the limits of manipulating one's aether? A THM, for example, can mold their own aether and utilize it via a sceptor/staff. If someone has had some training as a THM, but perhaps hasn't mastered it, would it be potentially possible for them to infuse other weapons with their own aether? For example, swords, lances, etc. Even if it's accidental - maybe from instinct or something. Not reliable, but possible when certain conditions are met. Or would this be crossing the line? I know that with the zodiac weapons they infuse them with aether and then attune their soul energy for the Nexus version. If manipulating one's own aether isn't possible, how likely would it be for someone to be able to infuse aether into pre-existing weapons from a lore perspective? I realize that the Zodiac weapons are technically one-of-a-kind and saying that you're walking around with their equivalent would probably be dumb, so perhaps a lesser or imperfect version instead would suffice? Any thoughts would be welcome. Thank you in advance
  10. So, after doing more PvP matches I've gotten the sword and shield for my PLD. Now, I feel that the whole "Dark Paladin" look is complete. It really stands out from the typical Paladin, IMO.

  12. Howdy, I have a story arc currently happening at the moment for my character Vale that will be coming to a conclusion next weekend. I've never requested anything like this before, so I don't know how willing people would be, but I'm looking for 2 Hyur (preferably midlanders since that's what Vale is) to fill a couple of rolls. When? The 5th or 6th of September somewhere between 10 am and 5 pm EST. Ongoing characters? Possibly. It depends on how the confrontation goes. Vale would certainly like to have his sister back at the very least. Characters: The first: Villain. His name is Alistair Wright and he was Vale's childhood friend (and the brother of Vale's first wife) and lived in a settlement just outside of Eorzea. When the Garleans came, Alistair saw power in their methods. When he found out that the Myr'it's (Vale's family) were sending information about Garlean activities back to Eorzea he turned them in... and this resulted in Vale's family being slaughtered. Vale also assumes (he doesn't know for sure) that Alistair raped and killed his sister. Alistair dragged her into the woods and Vale heard her screams until she went quiet. After that, Alistair vanished and Vale spent over 7 years searching for him. Recently, he's had his first clue as to Alistair's location after someone matching his description arrived in Limsa on a ship with a hooded woman. Alistair's description: Long red hair, green eyes, scar on his face. Vale hasn't seen him in years, so there's a lot of room on this character to add your own flair. The second: Sister. Her name is Genna Myr'it. She's four years older than Vale (33 years old) and was a tomboy as a child. She and Vale regularly got in fist fights, and she was taller than him up until his teenage years. She has long legs, dark hair, and blue eyes. She was always the stubborn type and struggled with containing her anger. Like Alistair, Vale hasn't seen her in over 7 years and has assumed she was dead all these years. Both of these characters have a lot of room for a personal touch. Vale is currently going through training at the moment to face Alistair, but there doesn't necessarily have to be a fight at the end of the story. Vale's trying to come to terms with his past right now and there's always the potential that either Alistair or Vale's sister could dissuade him from the road of violence. All depends on how it's RP'd. If either of these characters appeal to you, please contact me here on the RPC or in-game on my main character Vale Myr'it. I'd be happy to discuss further details with you and answer any questions you may have. And, for those interested, here is the wiki for Vale. Thank you for your time and consideration!

  14. IC and OOC tumblr for my character Vale Myr'it. Just made it, so content is a bit sparse at the moment, but I'll be adding more as time goes on.
  15. Detective Vale, Raime and Maariya on the case Vale gets a visit from a friend Vale and Eleni having a moment by the fireworks!
  16. Network, network, network. The more people you know (and the more diverse they are) the more opportunities you have. I've been trying to do that since I've RP'd and my character has gotten to the point where, when I actually sit down to RP with him (Vale, not Khuma - he's new) I have plenty of options. I'm in a couple of RP-centric LS's that help me too. As for my new character Khuma? I went to the Sands with him and tried to do a magic trick. He was promptly ignored by everyone in there. Then, I went and talked to someone individually and did a trick just for them and we had a nice 2~ hour discussion before Khuma thought some people were trying to eat him and fled from the tavern. My point here is that... if you're finding yourself unfilled with the RP you're doing then find some new stuff. Maybe your character wants to go on a sabbatical, or they suddenly think that their new calling is art, or possibly they had an odd run-in with magic that did something to them. The limits are only with your imagination (and to some extent the lore) when RP'ing
  17. Vale and also his wife, Eleni, would probably be interested in the services of a fortune teller. It'd fit well with his current story arc.
  18. Hey, can't hurt to make another friend. And Khuma sounds like fun. Great And yes, he's definitely what I'd call fun. I haven't had an RP session with him yet where I haven't broken up into laughter at some point I just hopped off him for the night (Vale is my main), but I'll be on him again tomorrow. Just hit me up in-game when you want to RP
  19. Khuma may be of interest to you. He's a Miqo'te living in an inn room in the Sands in Ul'dah at the moment (previously homeless and soon to be again when his borrowed gil runs out). Problem with him is simple, though: He's a bit schizo, believes his lance is sentient and tends to distrust people. But, these are fits that come and go. Sometimes he's pretty much normal if you ignore the talking to the lance thing. He does various 'magic' tricks with cards and such to earn what he can, but often goes days at a time without eating. He's definitely not 'normal', but I think he'd be okay around a blind herb gathering woman. Not sure if this is the sort of character you had in mind
  20. Vale used to be a mercenary (started as a DRK job, but was never a DRK IC), but set aside his sword for a job in mining when he got engaged and eventually married As for Khuma... he picked up a lance in a desert and thinks it's sentient. He travels around Eorzea doing mostly card tricks to earn enough gil to survive. He'll occasionally actually use his lance for combat, but he mostly just talks to it.
