I'm looking for anyone that might be interested in RP'ing with a slightly schizo Miqo'te magician and entertainer. He loves putting on a show, doing various card tricks, and even regaling people with exotic tales. However, he is a bit out there and believes that his spear is sentient. He'll regularly talk to it and think you're odd if you say you can't hear it. And he's also prone to bouts of paranoia when he's stressed out. Overall, I think he's a pretty fun character. If anyone's interested he's flexible on location as well

[Spoilers] Dark Knights, Am I the Only One?
Vale replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in RP Discussion
My character is a DRK, but IC he's not a DRK. He'll laugh at you if you try and call him one too. Used to be a mercenary, but no longer. He has no special powers, has nothing to do with the void, and hates magic. When I created him I just wanted the sword and the DRK look. Especially the i110 pvp armor, as I tied that into his back story. There's so many people basically running the same type of character already that I knew it would be a bad idea to RP him as an actual DRK. Aside from that, there's the whole negative stigma hanging over that type of character as well. -
I pre-ordered the Shulk Amiibo online about 4 months before it was released, so at least I didn't have to deal with that mess. But aye, I've heard about a lot of the nightmares with them ^^ I don't think (I hope) Nintendo is going to make the same mistake a second time with the new game coming out. *crosses fingers*

Liked Ragnarok Online? Check out Tree of Savior
Vale replied to Gideon Aryeh's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I used to absolutely adore Ragnarok Online when I was... 19? 20? Played a crap ton of it and loved my assassin. Even enjoyed the castle PvP portions and mostly ended up spending my time in the PvP arenas when I hit lvl cap. But... these days? I don't think I can get into it again. Definitely loved the hats, though. I'll keep my eye on the game and see how it does. If I ever get tired of FF maybe I'll give it a whirl -
Welcome to the forum! I'm also a huge fan of the Xeno* series, especially Xenoblade Chronicles. Really looking forward to the next game coming out in the US this year! And... also hopefully not through Gamestop this time

Wow. I might need to get that +_+ I wish you luck I've found Aery to be one of the most difficult dungeons to get drops in. Not sure if I'm just unlucky, or what, but I have a full set of armor from every other dungeon except Aery on all of my jobs. Took me over 40 runs to even see the ninja armor drop. No idea how many more it'd take me to get my tank chest :3

Is politely correcting someone's grammar/spelling offensive? Why?
Vale replied to LadyRochester's topic in RP Discussion
I can see it from both sides of things, myself. It might help explain their side of things. For example: In my FC, one of the leaders is a literary agent. She spends all day reading and correcting grammar, spelling, etc. When she's playing the game all she wants to do is just... enjoy the game and not worry about perfect grammar. As long as things are readable and understandable, the odd comma or run-on sentence isn't going to hurt anyone. In a game where all you want to do is unwind, I can see where people would let their grammar or spelling lax a bit. Personally, I'm an English tutor at my university and I still make typo's when I'm playing. I don't really let it bother me and I've never had anyone else mention my poor use of a comma when we've been RP'ing. Some people, though, just don't care and they will become annoyed or even angered anytime someone "dares" to correct them. Nothing you can do in these situations. The odd person does actually want to have their grammar/spelling corrected, especially if they're using a word a lot and consistently spelling it wrong. I don't see any actual harm in trying to correct someone, as long as you are in fact polite about it, but at the same time... just expect that the majority of people aren't going to care. And some will just be outright offended by it. Your options, in my eyes, are pretty simple: 1. Just don't correct anyone. If they have so many errors in their writing that it bothers you, odds are they aren't going to be able to easily fix the issue anyway. Might be best just to avoid RP'ing with them. 2. Continue correcting people, but don't be surprised when you receive a negative response. Some people may even become so annoyed with you that they avoid RP'ing with you in the future as a result of this, however. 3. RP with everyone, don't correct them, and don't worry about their spelling or grammar. Option 3 is the least dramatic and would require you being able to get past your mindset of "helping" people. The other 2 options will, eventually, either alienate you from some people or alienate them from you. Either/or. -
Like many others, FFXIV is my only MMO right now. And will probably remain so for a long time to come. I've always moved from one MMO to another over the years. Never really was able to multi-task like some others. I did have about a 5 year gap where I didn't play any MMO's, but I've played... let's see... Everquest Online Adventures (PS2 game) Everquest 2 Ragnarok Online Rising Force Online Lord of the Rings Online FFXIV I tried some beta's along the way, like Wildstar (bleh) but they never did much for me. There was a point in time where I was basically like, "I'll never play an MMO again!" ... And here I am

This one...! But in reality, I really like the Canopy in Gridania. I know it's not popular, and the lack of 4 seats at the tables can be kind of... unfortunate at times, but the atmosphere is really quite nice.

Vale's had a lot of ups and downs, so it's hard to choose just one. I guess I'd have to settle for these: Pre-Marriage: (Maybe this isn't a thing for some characters... but for Vale it is!) GOJJ5vTSTeE Normal Theme: ypNgvc6c6Cc Battle Theme: e7oW10COnlU

I finally got the last piece of the ninja set from the aery tonight (the chest piece). Around 40 runs in total just to see it drop once... x__x Love how it looks on Vale, though!

The closest I've come is when I was discussing a particularly... raunchy bit of ERP I'd come across (not me doing it, but others) with someone in private. Some slightly disturbing stuff. Accidentally posted in /ls instead of /p and I think I scarred a bunch of people for life with the details

Mm... hmm. RP confessions. I've been RP'ing for about a month now, so fairly new to it still. 1. Vale is my first character and he started out dark and broody. However, over time he evolved into someone that's generally friendly and sarcastic since he's found ways to suppress his darker feelings. Now... he just tends to make friends fairly easily and I often find him being stuck as the center of attention in group RP. Not what I had planned for him at all and it can be a bit overwhelming at times. 2. He's already managed to get married. I never had any plans for this to happen, nor did I even try to push his plot in that direction. It just... happened. The character he ended up meeting was perfect for him and after some things occurred he just fell for her before he realized it. 3. I tend to do paragraph RP in most situations (exceptions apply based on the environment I'm in) because I enjoy crafting a detailed, vivid scene. I find that I'm turned off by people who make tons of typos or offer nothing substantial in response to the massive scene I just crafted. I'll often find a way to bow out if someone does these things and I'll probably avoid RP with them in the future. 4. ERP is fine and I have no problem with it. I see it as natural character progression for adults (at least, I'd hope they'd want to sleep with each other at some point in the relationship!) and Vale has participated in it himself. I tend to be very detailed and explicit, drawing on my own real life experiences when I'm crafting these scenes. OOC, though, I can be fairly detached and I might be watching a youtube video or something while it's happening. I was going to write more, but then I realized that it was less of a confession and more of me ranting... which would defeat the purpose of the thread. So I cut it short.

Ah, who's that good looking guy in the blue hat? Had a good time last night, though it was definitely really busy. Had a hard time keeping up sometimes, so we had to bail a little earlier than I would've liked. May drop by again at some point.

I had a good time last night! Brought a couple friends with me and we basically crashed the place. The only thing that they were a little annoyed in regards to was that the order was a bit odd and some people got left out. Both of them ended up getting their turn much later than they expected (one left before she had her turn). It's a new event, and from what I gather you're a new(er) FC, so I don't think anybody got too upset over it. I will say, though, that one of the tarot readings actually disturbed someone IRL because they had seen something very similar play out recently OOC so... good job there I'll probably come back next week. My character is definitely interested in more readings with his colored past and path of revenge he's so set on.

cancelled Harbingers' Weekly Tavern Night (Thursday nights, 9PM EST)
Vale replied to Faye's topic in Chronicled Events
Last night was my first time attending, but it ended up being quite... interesting. O'hteco (West), E'yline and Drissa all made it super fun! We went to the library, where it turns out that E'yline and I have the same frumpy coat (even dyed the same color!) which was hilarious. And then West broke into someone's house (buy the name of "V") and while he was sleeping we drank his booze and played drinking games by the fire. Overall, super fun night and I hope to attend again! I believe we decided that next time we'd raid the Gold Saucer so... might want to hold onto your gil. -
I'd like to donate 100,000 gil towards the next event to help cover the prize and, hopefully, make it more lucrative. IGN is: Vale Myr'it

Hello everyone! So, I've been lurking on here for the last couple of days while I was polishing off my character and decided it would be beneficial for me to say "Hi!" to everyone When it comes to writing I've been doing that for more than a decade, but actual roleplaying is something I have only dabbled in lightly in the past for a brief time. When 2.0 came out I RP'd with someone a bit, but they weren't too into it and we ended up parting ways. Fast forward to now and I got lucky with the fact that a couple people in my FC have been RP'ing for a combined total of over 21 years and thus have been super awesome in getting me involved and helping me get situated. I've done a lot of research and reading to prepare myself and, just today, had my first heavy RP experience 8-) It was a great time and I can't wait to meet new people, both IC and OOC, and get involved in some community functions! My character's name is Vale Myr'it on Balmung and he's a mercenary with a rather murky, and tragic, past. More details can be found over on his RPC page I look forward to meeting all of you and should you have any questions or suggestions please don't hesitate to chime in!
