First off, I will admit I am a "Wallflower." I find it hard sometimes to interact with people, and generally don't know how to start up a conversation with them. This is because every RP'er is looking for something different, so it's hard to know what somebody is interested in. It's also difficult to tell who is actually at their keyboard at times or whom is "IC". There have been a few time where I've glanced at people and emoted it and they would send a tell "I'm OOC." This leads to me generally waiting to see whom around me is IC, and going from there. Normally if somebody is to sit next to me at the bar for instant, I'll try to strike up a light convo. there's also: This right here... Negative RP's leave a lasting impact and make your weary of what you may next encounter. Though I will say, the community as a whole has grown, and I've personally seen less of this then before. The only way for the "wallflowering" to end in my opinion is, people just have to put themselves out there and see what happens, myself included. It might be hard but only a player can control whether or not they get involved in RP. EDIT: There are other times where I'm busy in RL and will park somewhere. If something happens it does. If not, I'm not offended by it.

While there are sometimes global events in which everybody is able to come to, there really isn't a "global" setting on the server that I am aware of. Most of the Free Companies and Linkshells have their own general environment and what type of RP's they do. You can view a lot of the FC's and LS's HERE. They normally list what kind of stories they have there, so it might make it easier to browse through the list and see if any catch your eye before deciding what server to hop too if you do.

A friend showed me this the other day, and I got to say... I'd let my kids (re: I'd) watch the hell out of something like this long as the story was good.

Wow it's been two years now since FFXIV: ARR launched and I'm just now getting around to this. Seras Dragon, the one that pierces the heavens! Ahahahah... Okay joking aside... For now... Been playing FFXIV since ARR Beta, and RP on and off. You might have seen me running around in public or shooting up some poor goblin for his jiggle shines. --MMORPG background Runescape (Never gets old saying it) FFXI Vindictus Some other random one I forgot the name too. --RP experience Was once a member of Lights Templar on Phoenix server as Nodem. I figured it was time to bring my old user name out of cobwebs as it might be better recognized by any that RP'd with me in the past. --Character ideas/info Currently Seras is the equivalent of a refugee without a memory to her name due to some unhealthy incident. So I might be loitering on a street corner near you. --How did you learn about the coalition? I've watched part of the RPC grow, and my wife, Aurou, has mentioned it a few times. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I'm typically a Light to Medium RP'er. It really depends on my mood. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I'm married to a stranger I met in San d'Oria one day... She became one of my greatest friends and later she became my wife. Together we have three kids and get little to no sleep. I'm a stay at home dad, so that the kids always have their parents around, and it wasn't a decision made lightly... :dazed: If you see my loitering. Don't be afraid to send me a tell asking for RP. I'm always open to RP's. Worse that could happen is I vanish into a dungeon of doomz!
