  1. My 1.0 character is barely leveled, and I didn't ever get legacy. I really only played him long enough to every class a few levels. I'm keeping him just because I can. Plus I want that back tattoo! He'll be getting a new face and a bunch of tweaks though.
  2. YES! I was dreading having to use my old character and old name for this phase. Great to hear this.
  3. Caysen was built around the image of a compass, and he always carries one, so that's definitely what symbolizes him the most.
  4. I'd like to see a non-magical healer job. One that comes from a Disciple of War class and uses medicine to heal rather than magic. Chemist would be great. Besides that, my list is Red Mage (preferably a competent melee fighter this time, and with Doublecast), Blue Mage, Mystic Knight (tanking against magic), Ranger and Corsair. Maybe Geomancer.
  5. I'm hoping for a good Luneth style haircut.
  6. The color schemes remind me of Navi and Tatl. That's awesome.
  7. Seems like a good choice. I'm just glad it wasn't Rupert Grint.
  8. FFXIV's lore team has stated that mixed races are completely possible.
  9. A final (probably) look for Caysen. And my alt Reka, though she may be tweaked slightly.
  10. It's an open beta, yeah, but you still need a key for the client. 'Open beta' just means that anyone who applies automatically gets a key.
  11. Musketeer hasn't been announced yet. It'll most likely be added through patches at some point.
  12. Nice to hear this is shaping up! As for roles, Caysen's mainly a DD/support type, but he has been known to dabble as a Gladiator. I could fill in as a tank if needed, though I haven't had a chance to learn tanking in this game either. And since it's a secret society, if it goes badly I can trust ya'll to never tell anyone...
  13. You may recognize Caysen from... Past: The Fisher's Guild. His father is a fisherman, so he spent a lot of time there since childhood. His grandfather's clock shop* in Limsa. He worked there as an apprentice for many years, pre-Calamity. Sitting at the harbor watching ships come and go. Exploring around La Noscea. Recent: Archer's, Musketeer's and Arcanist's guilds, where he practices. Any given Adventurer's guild. Any place with particularly nice scenery, often sketching the landscape in a journal. Sleeping in trees while out traveling. *Currently unnamed. Working on that.
  14. Just because each clan is typically one way doesn't mean that every person in that clan absolutely has to be that way too. There are outliers in every culture. I don't think there's nothing wrong with being a Seeker who likes the nighttime. You'd just have to remember that they'd be living withing a mostly diurnal society. Like college students.
  15. I'm pretty sure that's fake. It's just the Siren model with a Summoner in front of it.
  16. Here's something ya'll might find interesting, on the topic of Dark Knight and other new jobs. From a recent interview with Yoshida. Source.
  17. If you're looking for an occupational last name for a merchant, I'd suggest Chapman. It's an Old English surname meaning someone who buys and sells. Wiki page. Or you get creative with it. My character's family uses the last name Meridian (and has in his past several iterations in games), which I took from a geography term, because they have a history of being travelers. I'm not sure exactly what gil is made up (does the lore ever say?), but you could use a precious metal name like Silver or Sterling. Or if they work in a certain type of goods you could take something from that. ... last names are an interest of mine. Weird, I know. :cactuar:
  18. My main isn't a Roegadyn, but I'm playing around with the idea of making one as an alt. No idea what I'm gonna do with one, but I like their naming schemes. As for your character ideas, they're both great but the first one pops out to me a bit more. Seems like he would be an interesting character to interact with. But I can't help but think that you could somehow mix them. Your idea of a young somewhat immature Roegadyn could fit the boisterous gladiator very well.
  19. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they said that legacy members will get early access without a new copy. If you aren't legacy, then you would have to get a new pre-order.
  20. After watching the video again I've noticed a few things. First, I still haven't seen the male Scholar AF yet. They seem to only ever show the female version. Vice versa for the Summoner, I don't think I've seen a female variant yet. I'm really hoping for a decent pair of pants for male Scholars and not the highwaters we had in FFXI... Also, there was a character wearing a face mask under a hood, and the Warrior in full AF had his helmet visor down at first then it opened up. Maybe hinting at some new vanity options for headgear?
  21. Wow, lots of great looking gear. Definitely saw some Titan themed weapons in there too!
  22. My Miqo'te male from phase 3 is I think 47. In phase 4/launch he'll be either 47 or 48. If average is 5'5", he's probably around 5'4" or 5'4.5".
  23. Scroll Lock. Scroll lock hides my UI. Just go into keybind and set it to whatever you want. Right! It's the / key on the numpad that toggles walk, my mistake. On my PS3 I just don't push the joystick all the way.
  24. I make the same basic main character in each game I play, and I form his background around each game's lore. I'm doing the same thing here. He's a Miqo'te this time around, but I didn't want to change his name. Plus, the tribal thing really doesn't fit with the character. So instead, I created a background within the lore that explains why he doesn't have a tribal name. Basically, he's from the city. His grandparents left the tribes many years ago and took on common names, and it was the common name that got passed down through the generations. The tribal names get lost. He has no connection to the tribes, so there's no reason for him to have a tribal name. My alt is also a character I make as my alt in each game, but she's a Hyur here so her name fits. From there, if I make a third somewhere down the line for the third GC storyline, they'll have a name based on the conventions.
