  1. For the "love of ____" meaning, you'd need to have the kanji the other way around =] 幸 (kou) can also mean happiness or blessing. Trivia: There are multiple ways you can read 愛幸: Aiko, Kanako, Chikako, Ayu, and many more. Whoever picked the name decides which version to use. This is also why a lot of Japanese needs to write down the hiragana version of their names when introducing themselves. Kudos for picking an interesting combination.
  2. How about something along the lines of "In an attempt to push back, Orrin committed most of his body weight into a wide-arced swing of the blunt end of his spear"? That said, I can imagine myself not being able to come up with any alternative in the heat of the moment either. Edit: Added second line because I accidentally posted before I finished typing :3
  3. It's a Bugthesda game. Never expect bug-free game at launch from them That said, their Elder Scrolls and Fallout series are among my all time favourites and I always end up sinking ridiculous number of hours into them - even before mods. If you've never played a Fallout game before and have hours to sink into another game, you can give Fallout 3 a shot. You should be able to get it for cheap, then mod the crap out of it to get rid of the bugs AND beef up the graphics into current gen quality. If you like free roaming RPGs, you will love it. Also depends on whether or not you enjoy playing around with unofficial mods.
  4. These publishers should really start crowdfunding localisations. I'm sure it's not that simple, but for games like Dragon's Dogma Online, I'm sure there's enough demand outside of bleepin Japan. It's just sad that they seem to dump it in the "more trouble than it's worth" bin. Sorry for the quick rant. As a Dragon's Dogma fan, I am le disappoint :tonberry: Since DDO is out of the question, the only game release I'm looking forward to is Dark Souls 3. Been a fan since Demons' Souls.
  5. One of us! How good is that song Coincidentally, I was actually listening to the song I stumbled upon on youtube and introduced me to the band ↓ UgS7vgquBvo
  6. Zaku, Geara Doga and Kampfer are my fav mobile suits. I reckon they offer a lot of room for creativity. But if you are looking for the more Gundam side, the ones I can think of are Land Battle Gundam, Land Battle GM, GM Sniper. Considering they are mass produced models that were used in long campaigns, you can go to town on mods and whatnot. Give them a desert paint scheme, jungle paint scheme, improvised weapons and rigs. Anything that's been done IRL since WW2 would most likely work. The sky is your limit
  7. "This aroma...", Yukari fanned the steady thin steam rising from the dish towards her nose and breathed in slowly and deeply. "The heady blend of spices and herbs is pungent, yet pleasing to the nose. And the fruity note of the sauce clears a path for the delicate sweet smell of the lobster. Amazing..." In one fluid set of movements, she picked a couple of strands of the noodles, stabbed a piece of lobster, and rolled the noodles over the over the lobster into a neat tiny bundle. "The consistency of the sauce is spot on. Just thick enough to coat the pasta." With that, the Raen took her first bite. She chewed deliberately, eyes locked on the plate before her. "Mmmm! Delicious! Both noodles and lobster are cooked to perfection, preserving their springiness. The lobster is fresh, sweet and savoury - the flavours accentuated by the fragrant herbs and the kick from the spices. The sauce is rich, but the berries' tartness adds a tang that cuts through the richness and cleanses the palette, leaving a very pleasant aftertaste. Delicious! Very delicious indeed!" She took another bite of the pasta, and another, and another, without saying another word, all the while humming merrily.
  8. "Name's Yukari. Pleased to meet you, and... hmmm...", the Au Ra began to wonder aloud as she habitually brought the middle knuckle of her index finger to her chin. Her gaze wandered from the table, then to the pot of boiling water. "Ah!", she exclaimed with the index finger pointed upwards. "How about something mildly spicy? Shell fish would be delectable", Yukari described her pasta order, "The rest of the details is up to the chef. Surprises are welcome", she finished with a smile.
  9. So that's what those /tells are... lol I have received /tells when I was running through the QS from the inn room / mender NPC and I'd usually be out of the inn by the time I reply to them and they don't reply back (New alt, so I'm usually busy going through quests and levelling up)
  10. Being her first visit to the Manderville Gold Saucer, Yukari could hardly contain her excitement. She's been darting from one venue to another, taking in the cheerful music and all the bright lights, trying out all the games and attractions. The female Au Ra was walking towards the next attraction at a brisk space when a shout halted her to a screeching stop: "INTEEEEENSE PAAASTAAAAAA!!" A crowd has gathered around where the shout came from. It was very close, but the crowd was thick enough that there was no gap the short Raen could see through. Late to the party, she tip-toed and extended her neck, even tried hopping a couple of times to steal a look over the crowd, but all to no avail. Yukari let out a small sigh. "I guess I don't have any other choice", she muttered under her breath. Being small, despite being the cause of this predicament, grants the advantage of being able to squeeze through a crowd without causing too much of a nuisance - a move the woman would very much prefer to avoid as it would infer self-admittance that she is in fact small. "Excuse me. Coming through. I'm sorry.", she repeated those words as she waded, or rather, swam through the sea of onlookers. As if she had actually been swimming, Yukari emerged at the front of the crowd with a gasp for air. She quickly scanned her surroundings to make sure she had in fact made it to the front and, satisfied that she was on the front row, turned her attention to the spectacle before her. By the time the half-naked Miqo'te man finished his speech with ladle pointed in Yukari's general direction, the Au Ra was staring starry eyed, with her tail waving inquisitively and hands almost to her chin, clutching a bag of MGP coins, which had grown heavy from her lucky mini-cactpot streak. At the hosts' prompt, the Raen stepped forward with a raised hand and an excited grin. "I'll take one serving of your pasta, please!"
  11. Sakura is a legit surname too, IMO. I'm not sure how "modern" it is, but it is not an uncommon surname. You can definitely use it if you like it, just not the sakura tree version  Heck, the surname I'm using was completely made up and I've never seen the name used in real-life Japan. Ever. But I believe it fits the Raen lore nonetheless. You need to keep in mind that Othard is not Japan. They only borrowed ye olde Japan's naming convention =] Edit: Grammar.
  12. The first name would work just fine, I reckon. One could be forgiven to think it reads "Mitsuki", but ambiguous names do exist - especially in recent years due to hipster parents slapping together random kanji just for the sake of "cool" phonetics 「美月」as "Mizuki" is fine though. As for surname however, "Sakura" more commonly refers to 「佐倉」rather than「桜」 Personally, I feel「佐倉」to be more appropriate as a Raen surname. Here's why: (Translations will be tricky as there are no direct English translations, but bear with me) 佐 = "sa" = assistant, helper. Usually used more as a title or role - very commonly used in military ranks like "taisa" (colonel), "shousa" (major) 倉 = "kura" = storehouse, warehouse, granary, treasury. In terms of lore and RP, the "Sakura" surname would indicate that your family or at least your ancestors somewhere up the lineage were in charge of granaries / treasuries. Maybe even run a bank? Well, I hope you get the general idea
  13. Opening theme of this season's best anime series just so happens to be by one of my favourite bands. (The anime's opening video is also great. Best I've seen in a long time.) For those that don't know but are curious, the anime is "Subete ga F ni naru". kxUBIN6qMn4
  14. My speculation is the physiology of those horn-like protrusions to be completely different from ours. While the other races' ears work similarly to us (meatspace humans), i.e. a cone of one shape or another, funnelling vibrations down to our eardrums, the Au Ra have horn-like protrusions. Vibrations created by the sounds would reach certain parts of the "horns" first before travelling to the other parts. I wouldn imagine the Au Ra can actually tell where and how far a sound is coming from with pinpoint accuracy. This would certainly open up the possibility of echolocation - just like what most of our real world bats do. In comparison, most of the other races would have to rely almost solely on their binocular vision for spatial recognition just like we do meatspace. As for audible frequency range (low bassy tones / high pitched tones) and tolerance to noises (dB), my guess is as good as anyone else's until they actually add more information.
  15. The kanji for Yukari is 紫 , which can also be read as "murasaki", meaning purple / violet. Also commonly used to refer to the colour of dusk. (Example picture below) She's a Raen Au Ra, so a name that references beauty and nature fits nicely with the lore of the race/clan (Picture taken from this guy's blog)
