1. OHHHH I think you may have confused the feedback/doodle threads! That's okay, that's what I'm here for -- this thread (the one we are talking in) is for feedback on doodles and troubleshooting; the Doodle thread itself is for posters to tag and draw each other. So by the last few posters it would go like this: >Lady Krist draws Arrelaine's character >Kaede draws Lady Krist's character >Kaede gets drawn by another poster Feel free to tag Kaede if you have the time. You can edit your post to include references for your character to be doodled, make sure to do that so the thread can keep going and you get a sketch!
2. Hey hey it's okay! Stuff happens, that thread grew quite a bit so there's naturally gonna be some confusion. As per the OP, the game is to draw the poster above you -- so, the poster DIRECTLY above you. Add some references of your character to your post so the next person can tag you, I'm here to fill for whatever spots have been missed :^)
3. Hey, thanks for joining! I have double checked the thread and may have missed it, are they/their character in the thread? I'll just add a Kaede to my post above, if that's the case, since it looks like she was skipped.
4. Of course! Welcome back to the server, and welcome to the performance scene. There are some really awesome people running the show and willing to show the ropes, and it's definitely something I would recommend plunging into. Try to hit some events, see what people do -- I'd be happy to give you some connections to get started.
5. THE BLACK SHROUD Time waits for no one, so do you wanna waste some time? My voice sounds strange without the aether -- naked and empty and vulnerable, like there is no line to guide it against, no hand to hold through the waves of melody. It reminds me of how many notches are still in my throat, one for every day I wasted singing things that did not belong to me, one for every new face I put on. Every note has to climb over them, like a flimsy staircase, and I’m afraid of misstepping with every new scratch. It’s going to be different this time, how many times have I lied to myself like this already? Time. That’s what I need, I need time, I need to rewind and rework and rewrite, and I need all those days that seeped from my fingers, I don’t care how many beaches I will have to comb. One day at a time -- his hair in my hands still feels like a warm, living luxury, and I don’t want to stain it with dirt. Second chances are never free. I can’t sleep in the Shroud. The trees are too full of voices. XX.XXX.XXXX
6. Responses are rolling in! We still have spots, so grab them fast. Toss a PM to me or Nathan to get your song ordered!:love::love:
7. Hey that's actually a really good book!! I finally read Coraline, because I wanna do some illustrations for it. Actually, anyone here with a Goodreads account? Add me up!
8. Oh my god. Mercy. Marcy. Oh my god, this is everything. Thank you.
9. Pros: I'm here. Cons: I'm here. It's a huge server, Nebbs' post covers the rest. Hope to see you around!
10. I keep abstaining, but Alex Turner's expressions are way too on point with what I imagine Marcy's to be, and I need to use this IC one day.
11. Playing through and this is on repeat repeat repeat repeat
12. I made a quick diagram. (TBH neither mean anything to me and sound a bit silly, but I know people use different words to mean different things, all are valid and this is tongue in cheek!)
13. I know I plug him a lot, but Kyle Webster's brushes are really unrivaled when it comes to PS brush packs. http://www.kyletwebster.com/ He has a few free ones! Give them a try. The Animator Pencil especially is an incredibly comfortable sketching brush.
14. I'm sorry I've been scarce! Feel free to bug people with invite privileges if I am not on -- they volunteered as tributes. We need the wiiiiiiiitch
15. Still looking for more people! As a heads up -- sometimes I miss whispers due to being stuck in tell hell, so if I don't respond immediately, please feel free to bug me again or toss a PM here. The LS has been growing well, thanks in no small part to this server's already amazing performers' community. Stay excellent, Balmung <3
16. The best advice I can give is: just throw him at things and come up with the excuse later. Really, some of the funnest RP I have had was on introverted characters stuck at sociable events against their will. That said! Marcy has experience working rooms and is an extroverted, obnoxious, annoying and pestering insect that will go out of his way to make people feel included. I like hitting up events myself, and hover around even if I am performing that night -- if you see me, feel free to toss me a tell. Or get in touch with me in game! I swear, my character might start giving lessons on public confidence at this rate (and I am very okay with that).
17. Heya! Welcome to Balmung. Feine sounds super interesting. I've been looking for more people to RP with on Skype, and would love to plot things with you! I've been itching to do some more travel/adventure type things, and have an aetheryte-challenged emotional mess of a travelling bard to throw at people at will. If you're interested, Marcy's info is on wiki, and if you'd like to know more please feel free to shoot me a PM.
18. Actually kind of jealous because the Int 3 pen weight and tablet make was superior to anything Wacom has put out since. My friend bought TWO when he learned they are getting discontinued, and I am sad I didn't think of that.
19. As far as photoshop clones go, Krita is pretty good. I am yet to test it extensively, but lots of concept art friends use it, or have switched to it entirely. Open source represent!
20. I abstained for a year but here we are. http://marcellain.tumblr.com/ Elezen/Balmung; mostly inspo and some writing. #aesthetique Note: I am really, really bad at tagging anything that's not NSFW or blatantly violent/gory.
21. I will write anything, and I mean, anything, so long as the story is good and there is decent communication OOC. I'm pretty picky with long-term writing partners so I never go into IC romance or similarly involved storylines without making sure there is a firm understanding of boundaries and a certain level of writing proficiency, as well as character chemistry so the story can evolve organically and I am not doing all the work. It's really about making something that has room for growth, conflict, and complexity. I love writing fluff as much as heavy drama, I love humor and horror and at the end the thing that matters most is that the RP is fun. Like Sol, I'm super into relationship dynamics of any kind and human interaction in general, and the depth they can add to a story. I can talk about that stuff to the point of being obnoxious and write stupidly complex characters as a result -- figuring out their reactions and emotional state is like solving a puzzle, and having their relationships change and shape their journeys is the real draw of collaborative writing for me.
22. Procreate is a pretty good PS clone, and can export PS files. The problem with the IpadPro comes in when its hardware is put to test -- it cannot handle big file sizes or too many layers well, which makes it useless for any kind of serious work, or painting. It's GREAT at what it's meant to do, though, which is sketching. The Cintiq Companion is also nice, but it's larger and heavier than a Surface, making it (ironically) way less portable. SP3 does not use the Wacom drivers, which is an absolute blessing for someone that has been in an abusive relationship with them for almost a decade. As a final note, it really, really isn't the tools that make the artist. The only difference between an on-screen tablet and a tablet accessory is the slight increase in speed and coordination that comes with knowing where you put down a line. I still use my Intuous for certain projects!
23. I've used an Intuous 4 for about five years (I think it's pretty much rebranded as the Pen&Touch now?). Last year I've invested into a Surface Pro 3, which has been an incredible asset to both my speed and productivity. I love this thing, had very few issues with it, and recently MS has released a series of "softer" nibs that allow for a range of glide/drag and feel more like pencils of different hardness. It was between a SP3 and Cintiq Companion, and the Surface won. It's a full, portable workstation that runs a complete version of PS and has excellent battery power. I cannot recommend the Surface Book as the artists I know have had numerous software and hardware issues, but the Surface Pro 3 is still a solid piece of hardware. The main problem behind the Ipad Pro/Apple Pencil, to me, is that it is really underpowered for the price. I did try to sketch on one, and it IS nice, but it just lacks the hardware and tools (*coughPScough*) needed to make complete work. It's a really, really expensive digital sketchbook.
24. I've been binging on Tarantino movies today, and this is stuck in my head, so it should be stuck in yours. Reservoir Dogs makes me miss playing legit criminals.
