He said he wanted to add more classes, but no number was ever specifically mentioned and he's dropped numerous hints about Thief, Musketeer, and Dark Knight. Not really anything else. My bet is that we'll see these three classes added before the next expansion, and then most likely second jobs after that for the current classes.
-
That's been there for almost 3 years now and they added Arcanist in before Musketeer, so it's not clear when they'll add Musketeer, just that they will.
-
The lore also seems to imply that they aren't Pokemon with unique personalities or feelings, they're just magic constructs that act as an extension of your own will. This isn't to say "Hey don't play them as being special!" Just that the storyline doesn't put a lot of focus on them because they aren't your Pikachu traveling the land with you on your adventure, more like they're just another tool in your toolbox.
-
There aren't any hidden classes, but there are Jobs which you unlock by leveling certain classes. For example, leveling Thaumaturge to 30, and I believe it's Arcanist to 15, unlocks the Black Mage Job. These aren't completely separate from Classes however, more like specialized versions of them. Black Mage for example has all of the Thaumaturge spells and abilities but gains five new spells only useable as Black Mage. The lists of these jobs are: Monk, Dragoon, Warrior, Black Mage, White Mage, Scholar, Summoner, and Bard. Unfortunately no Red Mage yet.

That's basically the idea I have in mind, three dramatically different organizations working towards their own goals but also working together to strengthen one another.

The cowry are just a type of seashell that was used historically (both in the real world and Eorzea according to the info on Nald'thal) as a type of currency before minted currency existed. In modern types they're mostly just used for jewelry, and since it is considered ancient currency in Eorzea as well I'd say the same is probably pretty likely as well. You could probably find them in any market and buy them by the handful for a single Gil. For us the use of cowry to contact the Blades is symbolic and serves a purpose. Nald'thal's symbol is the cowry, so as the Blades of Nald'thal the cowry is symbolic to our patron, but because cowry come in different shapes, sizes, colors, and pattern variations it can also tell us a lot about a person trying to contact us. How vain they might be, how urgent the request is, the type of mentality or mood the person is in making the request. For example a person who is desperate to reach us will likely use a larger cowry because it would likely get our attention more quickly, while someone who is vain might use a cowry that is brightly colored, or has a more noticeable pattern on it, even if they pick it subconsciously. This is obviously not an exact science, but it's a good way to make an estimate about who we might be dealing with.

I agree with the idea that this is ridiculously epic! Not to mention that ALL THREE of these guilds are the exact ones that I'm having a really hard time choosing between. I have one friend who already wants to join XI:7, another who wants to join Mysterium (but is considering XI:7), and I'm debating between the Blades and Mysterium... Grrr. T__T Well at least you know the way things are turning out that regardless of which one you join, you'll get to work with the other two!

Just to clarify some things (or emphasize on them since they've already been stated) Arcanist only gets access to Summon (Emerald Carbuncle) and Summon II (Topaz Carbuncle). Summon is considered a Caster Summon, and Summon II is a Tank Summon. Scholar also only gains access to Summon (Eos), and Summon II (Selene). Summon for Scholar is considered a Healing Summon and Summon II is a Support Summon. Summoner on the other hand gets access to Summon (Garuda), Summon II (Titan), and Summon III (Ifrit). Summon and Summon II fill the same role as their Arcanist counterparts, while Summon III is a Melee DPS Summon. During the last Live Letter, Yoshida was asked if there would be anymore Egis and his answer as (unfortunately) no, not until there was a level cap increase. This means we may see Egis for Shiva, Ramuh, Leviathan, and maybe even Odin and Bahamut, but not until an Expansion more than likely. As far as the original question goes, the storyline for Arcanists is exceedingly lacking in acknowledgement of your ability to Summon Carbuncle, they just sort of say "Good job, you can control your Cosmic Bunny. Come back in five levels." In fact you don't even need to complete the level 15 quest to get access to Summon II, they just give it to you prior to actually doing the quest, primarily because it's a tutorial on how to use the Topaz Carbuncle as a tank. That being said, within the actual summoning animation itself we see the use of the aforementioned crystals, so it's safe to assume even if the quests don't mention them the game still shows them being used.

They don't even need to be evil, but I do agree I don't care for alts within the same storyline myself. makes too insular a story to me, kind of like playing yourself in chess, in the end you win either way and you could even force a certian side to win. think about the Triad. they would see themselves as the one that should win, but toss in another mob in another country and that mob would think of themselves as "good" too. making evil simply in the eye of the beholder. Maybe the gridania based FC(s) are simply competition and we/they are moving into the other groups turf, insert turf battle here. the battle could be physical or more along the lines of a price war, or that sort of things. Ah, but see.. To my knowledge (Correct me if I'm wrong, Ash), the Blades aren't a.. Competitive sort. WE don't have a turf. We don't care about competition. We just wanna make sure people aren't doing bad (To us) stuff, and make sure the Garleans/Bahamut/INSERTOTHERBBADGUY is stopped. In a nutshell. This is correct, as far as the majority of the world knows the Blades don't actually exist, so because of that any turf they owned is claimed through subsidiaries and shell corporation type deals. Even within the Coalition Garryson or L'yhta would have to contact Ashren the usual way (the whole cowry into the fountain thing) to setup a meeting, so there'd always be an air of mystery around the Blades. To use a kind of amusing analogy, Garryson and L'yhta could be considered sort of like Commissioner Gordon² and Ashren is Batman, even though they're allied you don't really know who they are, you just know what they stand for and that they're hear to help, and you know when you need them you just need to shine the Nald'thal Symbol. As far as the villain idea goes, I like it for the most part but I agree that it would be better if we had other people playing them, and maybe even focus on one organization that could oppose our own efforts so that there could be at some point a fight that would involve all three leaders and their companies fighting together to try and defeat their enemy, or at least thwart one of their schemes.

Pics or it didn't happen! In all seriousness, welcome to the RPC! I hope you enjoy your stay, and if you have any questions never hesitate to ask.
-
I have to admit, the idea of the three of us forming a kind of Triad would be pretty awesome. Three different Free Companies allied with each other, working in different cities, but working towards common goals and assisting each other when necessary. These are the kinds of ideas I created this thread for!

This looks freaking awesome!

Title: The Archon Name: Ashren Snow

This is the one exception I believe. In some cases it's shown that they can speak whatever common language everyone else speaks, but when Minfilia explains the Echo to you she states that it's the Echo that lets you speak with the Beastmen, which would imply that under normal circumstances Beastmen don't speak "Eorzean."

So. Epic. This needs to be a thing. This is gonna be a thing. Nald'thal is Ul'dah's deity right? Are they based out of Ul'dah? And where is Mysterium based from? I think I remember them being outside of Limsa (I'm too lazy to go look) but if they were in Gridania we would have all three city-states accounted for. The Blades are indeed based out of Ul'dah.

I just contacted you Garryson about future endeavors, and I also put my application in for Mysterium on your site Freelance. Sorry it took so long, have been busy the past week and once I had some free time I got caught up with beta.
-
I'll be keeping myself busy for the next four days working on my FC and obsessively checking these forums until I can get in game. I'm already feeling symptoms of withdrawal.

Considering the Gilgamesh RP Community brand spanking new it's hard to think of them as being established in any way. They're dedicated, and they're organized, but they're hardly established yet. Even Balmung is going through a whole new renewal with a massive influx of new members, in fact there are probably more new RPers than old at this point. It's not that we're trying to steal people away, it's just that many of us would rather not see an already small community of roleplayers split three ways. This is in no way meant to persuade people away from Behemoth, after all it was my server of choice through most of the beta, but I wouldn't exactly call them beleaguered either. Bahamut is under represented on the RPC merely because there are very few people RPing there compared to Gilgamesh and Balmung, so Behemoth isn't so much beset by difficulties as it is unpopular by comparison.

Heh, well we've been on Balmung since they re-opened the Legacy Servers, though I thank you for the well wishes. If you decide to change your mind and roll on Balmung anytime in the future feel free to look us up.

Greetings Friends, I am speaking to you today to remind you of a fact that many of the citizens of Eorzea have seemed to have forgotten. Not long ago our home faced certain destruction, we fought tooth and nail against the Garlean Empire, and we battled against the very forces of nature in the form of Primals. I fear now that the citizens have become complacent in these dark times, all too eager to roll over and accept their fate. I for one will not go quietly into the night, and my order and I are all to eager to take up arms once again for the people of Eorzea. The threat of Dalamud is over, but the Garlean Empire still festers like an infection at our borders, the Primals still drain our land of its life blood, and new threats grow every day in this Umbral Era. Still, our worst enemies are in fact ourselves. The homeless, the lost, and the broken continue to pile up each and every day and hope becomes a commodity in this time far more precious than Gil, and I come to you this day to tell you that it is something we have in abundance. Hope that we will see through these dark times, hope that the people of Eorzea will be tempered by this era and be even stronger in the end, and hope that these words will not fall on deaf ears. So I ask you my brothers and sisters, join us and help protect this great land we all call home, whether ye be Adventurer, Merchant, Artisan, or Scholar we extend this offer to all those who will heed the call. Should you have need of us, you need only offer a single Cowry to the fountain at the Arrzarenth Ossuary in Ul'dah. We are watching. We are waiting. Regards, A.

Basically what Khaze said, there were different languages a long time ago but over time it seems like everyone speaks the same language now, not just in Eorzea but in Garlemald as well apparently.

Looks cool, but takes too long to load.

Primarily it's playstyle. Both of them are equally effective as Tanks though the methods for playing both are drastically different. Paladin relies a lot on Damage Mitigation and has abilities that help it not only tank but defend the party and don't provide much help to actually burning down enemies beyond just holding the hate. Marauder has more HP but less mitigation and hits much harder, instead of relying on abilities like Flash that just generate Enmity the Warrior deals large amounts of damage and has one or two AoEs that I know of that allow it to generate and hold hate, while also doing substantially more damage than the Paladin. In short, from what I've found, Paladin can live longer, Warrior can kill faster.

If RP is your main concern I'd suggest rolling on Balmung (though as I understand that may be full as well?) or waiting for Gilgamesh. If RP is just a secondary or tertiary concern then there are plenty of servers old and new to pick from. Other than the fact that you'll see people in AF gear or riding Legacy Chocobos on Balmung I actually didn't see that much of a difference in the two servers. The economy seems pretty much the same as of yesterday, and the amount of new players on Balmung vastly outweighs the old ones, so if playing with Legacy players doesn't scare you I'd suggest giving it a try.
