Sooo... personal backstory you're welcome to skip: What I'm hoping to find is at least one, maybe a few, people to consistently RP with. I'd mostly like to RP while being 'productive', so primarily out in the world and active vs usually in one spot. The idea sort of running through my head is for a pair (or small group) of deadbeats. The sort who bounce from one bad idea to the next. "Hey, I heard iron ore was really selling on the market, grab a pickaxe!" "Heard this dungeon used to have pirates in it til some adventurers cleared 'em out... lets go see what got left behind!" Etc etc. Things can stay as easy going or get as dark as you'd like, and frankly I prefer to take on a secondary role. I'm happier as the sidekick, so to speak. I don't really want to over think this now, just tossing out the idea in case it sparks interest for anyone. If this becomes a tiny LS that's fine (more privacy to RP in there I suppose). I'm a US PST player, usually on between 5pm to maybe 10pm weekdays, weekends varies. I have a life, you have a life, so don't feel like you need to RP with me every day. It's a game, I'm not willing to chain myself to it either. My old character is on Balmung, and while I'm not opposed to the thought of transferring servers (I don't want to make a 3rd character!), it's money. I have to be certain if I go that road. Hmmm, I have a feeling I'm not going to make it in sadly, but even when I made my first post here I suspected something like this might happen! Always my luck. But it's maintenance now, and I won't be able to log in again until late tomorrow so I bet it'll be full. Grats to everyone who got in on this though. n__n Happy to see this sort of concept thrive.

I'm interested in this as well, or would certainly like to try it out. I haven't honestly gotten to RP Zha'li more than once, and would love to remedy that so I can really get to know him.

Taking a quick browse over the Balmung linkshells, I didn't really notice any that focused on gathering with a social bias. If I've missed one please let me know, as I'd probably be interested in joining. I'm spending a lot of time fishing right now, but it gets a little lonely. ;D If the linkshell is connected to a Free Company it's not a deal breaker for me as I haven't joined one yet. I don't spend all my time as a fisher of course, I do dungeon/quest etc... but I do think I might spend more time as DoL with likeminded company. If there aren't any linkshells like this out there... would people be interested? Here's what I'd be looking for in my 'dream DoL LS' anyway: - casual IC chatter over the linkshell while gathering/fishing - small gathering/fishing/exploring parties - the occassional campfire gathering to talk about the one that got away, or the horrible creature that fell out of the tree that one time in the South Shroud while logging... - some OOC chatter would be fine with me, too - i'm pretty fail at crafting, but having some crafters there would likely benefit everyone, haha Mostly though I just want something laid back and friendly. I'm not really hardcore about this. I'd rather not 'lead' this LS, but if it's small enough I suppose it wouldn't be tough, haha. Anyhow, if anyone is interested, or has a LS or FC that would be similar to this, I'd love to know! =]

Ok! Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Here's where we stand: Based on potential availability, levels, and the slight possibility that progress could be wiped after this phase, we'll hold off on doing any official dungeon runs for actual launch. In the meantime, I'll be creating the linkshell as soon as I'm able to, and will be around to hand out pearls very late Friday and most of the day Saturday. As most of you were willing to hand out pearls as well, I'll likely take the offer up on the first two or three people who catch me online. I'll be around most of the day Saturday, in the Gridania area, and would be happy to have an informal IC or OOC gathering to sort of play and get to know each other in game a bit. So, if you see me around and you're in the area, let's group up. Additionally, I've created an enjin site for us to use (the LS info up top has the link). While it's not required that any of you join up, it's there as a resource for those interested. Thanks again to all of you for your support! The beta can't start soon enough!

I'd certainly be happy and interested to discuss something like this (if people still are). The prospect of creating a villainous alt is appealing, and it gives more shape to a Lala character I'd sort of imagined but couldn't find a good reason to really develop.

Wonderful, and welcome! =) A dedicated tank is something we've certainly been hoping to have. =) As someone who was willing to try to take on the tanking role, I'd love to take you up on the offer. Doing it IC would be wonderfully amusing (for me at any rate), as Zha'li would certainly have the willingness to defend his allies physically... but certainly hasn't had the physical training for it.

Looks like you have plenty of offers here, but if you want to chat or plan any sort of outside connections feel free to shoot me a PM. I have a good amount of info on my character's tribe on his wiki (in sig). I'm always open to the idea of adding someone to the tribe, but as I've planned out a good number of ideas for it, I'd hate to stifle your ideas. =)

Unfortunately Zha'li can't really help you LandStander, but I will make good use of your thread here! =) I'd be very happy to have either: A tribe-mate of Zha'li's (I have notes on his tribe on his character wiki, linked in my sig). They could be blood related or not. I think it'd be fun in a way if this character (especially female) was asked to half watch over him a bit. Someone from a neighboring tribe who knew him would be just as good. Or: There's a traveling Hyur in his background (I'll point at my wiki again if you'd like to see how he and Zha'li interacted), and I'd actually love to have someone else who actually knows him for Zha'li to look for the man with. I haven't fully set up who the traveling Hyur is yet, though he is Garlean (and likely not with the best past ever). So there's probably a lot of room to work here, if anyone is interested.

Zha'li's tribe is rather reclusive, so most folks probably wouldn't know him unless they're from a neighboring Keeper tribe, but... You might know Zha'li Vael from.... Any of the chocobo stables in the Black Shroud, mostly lingering around the edges at night like some sort of chocobo stalker. If you're a Keeper of the Moon... You might know Zha'li as a healer from the Vael tribe, second under their Shaman but not the official apprentice.

Welcome! =) Always fun to have more jumping into the community! Along with the Gilgamesh event link provided for you, you might also want to take advantage of the Mentorship thread if you haven't for help on backstory for your character or RP in general. Though you'll always find folks to help with that in the RP discussion board too.

Ultimately you're the only one who'll know which server will be right for you. No matter which one you pick you'll have wonderful roleplayers to engage with, all of whom will be happy to have you. Chat with people of both servers here, browse the available linkshells/free companies. There isn't a wrong choice, and you won't be alone on either server. I'm a new player joining Balmung, which'll be a new experience for me considering I'm usually in an MMO at launch (original launch... ARR is rather unique here). However, for all that I play in those brand new worlds I've never particularly been a trailblazer so to speak, and prices at auction houses and the like always get the best of me. So, I'm personally not going to sweat things like that. Best of luck either way you go, I'm sure you'll be happy!

We'd be happy to have you! =) We're in the very lucky position of having multiple people interested in healing, as well as people willing to fit in multiple roles as needed (myself included).

Haha, too true. Cool though, nice to see we're all pretty flexible. Though I think I'll leave most of the DD up to others for the most part, though I'll try to hop in for that if/as needed.

Sounds good. I haven't really had a chance to dabble in tanking for ARR yet, but it really looks like they gave some great tools for watching where threat is. I'm sure we'll have the tanking spot filled, and people should surely feel free to try out new roles as we investigate this strange dungeon phenomenon. Personally I've never cared too much for voice chat. Not to mention my voice certainly won't work out for my male character, ha.

I'd be very happy to have you! =) Having another healer on board is always welcome (and if your character happens to feel like being something else at any point in time, I'm certain we'll be able to roll with that as well. ) If you have any questions/ideas/etc, do feel free to toss them at me here or via PM.

With the change to the linkshell hall (which I love!) I feel a bit better about posting ideas/questions here now (I didn't want to seem like I was bumping the thread over others and all). To those who've joined, I'd recommend subscribing here (if you haven't). I'll certainly send out PMs for any major linkshell news, but might toss extra things here as well. Just as a general update, our linkshell has a body count of 4 currently. =) Thanks to everyone for joining! We have a light party~ There might be a little tank/healer juggling going on between a couple of us (I'm willing to take on either/both roles, and don't mind trying to tweak Zha'li to do so), but all should work out. Hoping to get even more members come P4 and release!

But thanks everyone for your opinions/advice! Definitely gives me more to think on as I work out who my main will be. Hoping to get in and get some test RP soon on both. To go off topic in my own thread, the way some feel the Miqo'te aren't feral enough is similar to how I feel the femRoes are too small. I'm absolutely not surprised, but I'd hoped they'd be bigger than they ended up. =/ Oh well, their running animation killed my desire to play one anyway. But again, thanks all.
