Haha, I'll have to look into that emote chaining if I go for my Lala.
-
Yeah, that's pretty much the sort of take I was looking at for her! =) And thanks! I have to admit I enjoy having a Lala around myself. Thanks for the advice! For a while the high Miqo'te numbers did bother me, but honestly at the moment I feel like I may connect to the Lala more. I haven't really RP'd either of them yet of course, so we shall see. =) Just testing the waters until I can back in the game.
-
Yeah, another sub-section of the wiki might be nice, so we can have clan and player made tribes listed there for ease of connecting Miqo'te. Or something like the linkshell forum, who knows. X] I certainly would have liked that when making Zha'li!
-
ETA - Please don't forget to comment on the character herself! =) It hasn't become that, but I don't want this to only be a Lala vs Miqo thread. =] So, I'm a bit on the fence as far as what to finally settle on for my main. I'd like to settle before phase 4 starts, and thought I'd feel out some opinions here. =) I'd originally planned on a Miqo'te (Zha'li's wiki is here!), but spent some time also running around on a Lalafell during phase 3. Sitting around and thinking since I have no beta to play, I came up with a character idea for that Lala that could be fun. Lala-girl behind the cut: My questions to all of you: 1. Do you have any feedback for her? She's just in the start stages of planning, so she's pretty bare bones. 2. Which of the two would your character possibly have more fun/a more interesting encounter with? I'm not asking you to tell me which to pick, and I'll certainly be picking the one I like best as a main when the time comes. Either of them sound fun to me. =) The class will probably be a CNJ either way.

Ok, no problem. I guess I was mostly thinking of Keepers, who don't have a convenient tribal letter at the front to go by. Keeper tribes are usually a couple families from what I understood, so it seemed like surnames wouldn't be shared across the entire tribe. The thread was just an idea to give info on these small tribes I guess. But, thanks for saving me a project!
-
I would love to be a part of a linkshell for Miqo'te traveling outside of their home tribe (for whatever reason each has). I think it sounds like a great idea. Zha'li likely expects to return to his tribe at some point, but would welcome the company of other Keepers or Seekers, traditional or not. Also, I think it would be really handy to possibly have a Miqo'te tribe directory here. I've set up some lore on Zha'li's, and it'd be fun to see others. It could also help people making new Mio'te characters find family or tribe-mates on either server. I would love to have some tribemates for Zha'li, or form aquaintences with those from nearby tribes. I'd be happy to make an unofficial tribal directory thread when I get home from work if people would like. I don't want to derail this one.

CANCELLED: CTPA Arts & Crafts Charity Contest

Sorry I wasn't around to help out with this! I'd be happy to help out if it's rescheuled. -
I have a feeling I'll be doing something similar as well, and haven't felt like there would be any problems with it. =]
-
CNJ main for me. Any alts I roll will probably DoH or DoL though.
-
Just tossing out a welcome from another west coast gal. Like the others I'd love to get to know more of your character. I'll be wandering around as a male Miqo'te CNJ/WHM myself. Happy to see you around! =)

I've actually been feeling a bit like this as well, as there are just... Miqo'te everywhere! I'm personally trying to ignore that, because in the end, even if there are cats roaming everywhere you look, I'll know that's what I wanted to begin with (and will feel dissatisfied having been pushed away from what I wanted due to numbers alone). This game doesn't seem terribly alt friendly, but I'm probably going to have a little Lala girl for those times I need to not be Miqo'te number 809 (not that Lalas are rare either). That said, I think it's worth hearing the other character if you'd feel just as happy in Elezen skin. Now's the time for the overhaul. But personally, I'd advise playing what you want, regardless of what others are doing around you.

You've noticed it, haven't you? Of course you have, you wouldn't be here otherwise. You may have experienced it first hand, or perhaps heard about it from a story or a book. Unique locations across Eorzea that seem to breed trouble... trouble that just seems to keep coming back. Deep caverns, ruins, mines... it's difficult to say just what makes these locations different, and what seems to call an endless cycle of danger to them. The Whispered Spiral have their theories, though they keep them to themselves. A secretive group of curious adventurers, the Spiral have made it a goal to investigate these locations. Coming from a variety of backgrounds and theories, from simple explorers and scholars to opportunistic rogues seeking fortune, they dive into these repeating trials with their eyes open. They've fought through these events before, and they'll do so again. Together they face trials that seem trapped in a loop, hoping to shed some light on this strange paradox. ((Thanks to Caysen for the image help!)) Theme and OOC Info: The Whispered Spiral is a small IC repeat content linkshell, focused primarily on dungeons. It's not meant to be a large, hardcore content group, rather one where players let their lore based theories of 'how in the world are we running this dungeon again in character' run free. We're not here to break lore, nor are we here to say that this phenomenon is happening to everyone (wouldn't dream of doing that to other roleplayers!). But we are here to have a good time, to be as silly or serious as reasonable within the world of ARR while exploring this idea. With things like the Echo in place in the game, as well as Lightning from FFXIII apparently slated to make an appearance, it feels like there's room in the lore to explore why these dungeons keep repeating on us. Is this some variant of the Echo? A corruption of aether due to the Calamity? A trial from Althyk? Or maybe we're just all mad. Bring your theories (or create one as you join!), and let's see what we come up with. New players and old alike are welcome with open arms. Goals: - Running content IC, from dungeons to quests to FATEs. I'd like this to be a casual happy place for roleplayers of any background. Serious characters, villainous characters, the goofy and laid back, all types are welcome. - Have fun. I know sometimes dungeon running becomes a chore. I don't want that. You don't want that. Fun is greater than content completion here. - Explore different variations on this theme. Sometimes a dungeon might literally repeat, sometimes we have to beat away a nasty group that keeps slinking back. Variety is encouraged, party leaders let your characters set the tone. Rules and Joining: Rules: 1.) The Spiral is a secret group, with one rule binding them over anything else: Do NOT discuss the theories and repeating nature of dungeons outside of the group. - This concept, obviously, won't be for everyone, and we're certainly not here to start telling people what is or isn't happening to their characters. Those who want their characters to be experiencing this will join us, everyone else is free of the Spiral. - If a party has some non-shell players in it, then we keep quiet in party chat about our group/theories like any good secret group would. Not everyone treats dungeons the same way in RP, and out of respect for other RPers not in the linkshell, we should avoid forcing our ideas onto them. Don't run about claiming you've killed major bosses for good, don't insist you've killed a boss hundreds of times to someone. 2.) This is likely to be a small group (hopefully large enough for most dungeon runs of course), and not one meant to be exclusive. Feel free to join other linkshells, just don't forget us! 3.) Be kind and respectful to everyone in the linkshell. - If you're the sort that's going to lose your temper and start to rant OOC if a dungeon run isn't running smoothly, you might want to consider other shells. Characters may clash, but never should IC frustration leak into OOC. 4.) There are no 'activity rules', but there's little point to this if we don't do content together. =) Not really a rule, but don't feel like you must have a theory all worked out to join. We can brainstorm something up, or you can have fun having your character react on the fly. Questions? Want to help me out? Interested in joining? Send a PM to Imsey or post here and I'd be very happy to talk about it. The linkshell will be created in phase 4 of the beta, and a dungeon run(s) will be planned to kick off the shell once members are ready. Dungeon runs will start, well, once we have enough people of the right level to start them. I warn you all now I'm new to the game, so I apologize if this turns into a case of the blind leading the blind.

linkshell interest guage - repeatable content as IC canon...

Thanks Averis! Slow leveling is fine. Not looking to make a high pressure linkshell, so move at your own pace. I'll need to get some levels too. -
linkshell interest guage - repeatable content as IC canon...
Imsey replied to Imsey's topic in RP Discussion
I definitely do plan to create this shell. It's just a matter of finding the wording and nailing down the nature of it. I'd like this to be more of an organic group, less of a massive organization and more a band of characters who 1: enjoy exploring ( both the world in general and dungeons), and 2: have noticed the strangely repetetive nature of these places. I don't want to shove my idea down everyone's throats but if people are willing I'd like to work with the dungeons actually seeming to literally repeat (though having some runs where other similar groups have popped up instead could add to the mystery). That's not to say we can't have runs either where perhaps a couple of mysterious figures tell us that 'hey, if you go here at this time, you'll experience an adventure'. Might be fun to even have a sort of off screen character tugging us around. But no matter what, I want this linkshell more focused on experiencing content with your character, and less on large story set ups. So maybe I'm overthinking it a bit. Hmmm, both those suggestions help on the naming. Sometimes I think it's the hardest part. -

Hahaha, nice! There are a lot of great ideas here, I wonder if we can't find a way to use multiple ones. Some ideas may suit some dungeons better than others possibly (I'll have to look into that). But I really need to work on the linkshell post! Oh... and name suggestions would be nice... because I will likely leave us with something stupid like the Repetition Society (well ok not THAT bad, but help please!) -
i largely chickened out and was too shy to do much but follow along on the last event, so I need this! Haha. If I can make it I will. =)

linkshell interest guage - repeatable content as IC canon...
Imsey replied to Imsey's topic in RP Discussion
Thanks for asking! The quick answer is no. Longer answer is that everyone chooses to treat dungeons and content differently, and it would be very taboo to force our ideas onto an entire server of roleplayers. I'd mentioned that the group would function as a secret society of sorts for the purpose of further working to keep from stepping on the toes of other roleplayers. Outside of the linkshell, we don't talk about what we do, about repeating the dungeons. It ties into the idea I'd been toying with (that I didn't really go into too well in the first post), but that I'll explain now! In a nutshell, I was thinking that dungeons would be treated as literally repeating. As in, for some unknown reason, when certain individuals return to certain locations, the exact event is repeating. I think the Echo got me sort of going in weird speculations, and a group trying to figure out why these little loops keep occuring for them would be interesting. That said, however, I want to hear the feedback from those interested. I'm not dead set on the idea, and would also be very happy to have a linkshell following some of the previous suggestions/methods listed before. -

Happy to hear the interest in this! To answer a few questions: Dungeons would be the focus, but IC questing would be fun, too. This isn't meant to be 'hardcore' or anything, so there would certainly be time for questing together. I edited the first post to state that I plan to roll on Balmung so long as there's room. I'm not legacy, but this is where I plan to be. For those who are interested, I'll work to actually set up the linkshell post so that the idea behind this shell/society is more clear. -

Hahaha, I know. Too amusing. I had to post in your thread, too. But awesome! I'd be very happy to have you along (I was worried no one would really go for the idea). I'm sure I'll be taking you up on your offer to help. -
Ah... I just posted a linkshell interest guage pretty much dealing with exactly this. x] I think typically most people don't consider it canon to kill a dungeon boss over and over... but well, I think it could be interesting to play with the notion. I'll leave now and let those with more experience give better answers. x]

So, rather than jumping the gun and deciding I'll be creating a linkshell all on my own, I'm here to see if there's an interest in what I'd like to do. I was thinking of creating a linkshell for repeat content (specifically looking at things like dungeons for now, but as more of the game applies it could encompass that as well). All runs would be done IC, with the premise that those in the shell are aware that they've run the dungeon before (after they've run it once of course). I know some roleplayers prefer to treat dungeons as OOC, and I respect that completely as in game mechanics and RP don't always work well together (I'm looking at you superfast day/night cycle!). However, with things like the Echo and even the opening cutscene new players are treated to, there seems to be some wiggle room to explore this concept within lore. Part of the point is letting people come up with IC ways to try to explain how such a thing could be. Probably just looking for a small group to start (at least enough to do runs at first, though who knows, if others are interested maybe we'll look larger). But it would function somewhat as a secret society (in part to keep from conflicting with the stories of those who keep dungeon runs as OOC). First rule of... well ok, Fight Club refs are old. x] If no one is interested no problem. But if this sounds appealing to anyone let me know (here, via PM, whatever. =)) ETA: I should have posted this originally, but even though I'm not legacy, I am planning to start up on Balmung.
