  1. I actually find it really funny that you feel the same way, because your character design is one of my favorites. I would think Sav would get along with you famously! I tend to see these wonderful overachievers (I say that in a positive way!) like Xenedra and Endemerrin and Deirdre and Alothia and so many others. Makes me feel boring and lazy because I infuse quite a bit of myself into my characters. I tend to rationalize it away by saying most of the community is from 1.0 and has developed relationships and whatnot that I haven't yet.
  2. I'm not sure where I wanted this to go originally, so it's going to be a lot of things. :frustrated: First off, I want to say how FANTABULOUS you guys are with your writing. Like, seven hells, you guys are inspiring. I'm not on Balmung (yet) and I haven't really had the chance to RP in game at all since I'm stuck on Leviathan, but you guys make me really excited to jump in. Secondly, you guys are so good that I feel incredibly...I dunno. Only slightly offput due to my inexperience and blah storytelling. Making a wiki was a major step for me, and even after the accomplishment of 'finishing' the writing bit I still felt overwhelmed. My brain is just poof. TL;DR: Thank you for being awesome, but stop being -quite- so awesome, I'm starting to feel severely underclassed. :dazed:
  3. As soon as you said this was an FFX style of storytelling, I instantly perked up and heard To Zanarkand in my head. Which is probably why I felt so damn sad the whole time. But storytelling is supposed to invoke emotion, and I really enjoyed it.
  4. Said it all, right there. Gripping storytelling, I thoroughly enjoyed that. Well done! :moogle:
  5. I found that the color block quiz was surprisingly accurate. I'll post Sav's results.
  6. I could kiss you right now for being the bearer of wonderful news. Thank the Twelve I don't have to wait until Friday.
  7. By the Twelve this was difficult! But it did allow me to really think about Sav's backstory, so it was worth it. She may seem a little bit flat, but she need time and the forming of relationships with others to really flesh out her personality. She sounds very knightly on paper. I wrote her responses more like a letter than if she were actually sitting down to a face to face interview.
  8. I was drawn to the Keepers simply because of their looks and their attitudes, along with their matriarchal society. I (probably wrongly) also made the assumption that there would be a bundle of Seeker boys running around trying to be a Nunh and claiming breeding rights over females. What I'm planning is to have my Miqo female pursue her love of arcane knowledge to Limsa, upon which she takes up the mantle of an arcanist. But as for backstory, just something as simple as living with her small family in the Shroud until the Garleans got all riled up (around the age of 16 cycles I suppose). So I'm guessing that would make her sort of tribal-ish turned metropolitan?
  9. That is a very good point that never crossed my mind. I believe my decision has been made. Onward, to Balmung! (I pray for all of you there, maybe my coming will populate Gilgamesh a tad more ).
  10. Well put. I hate being the most popular of anything just because I want there to be a good deal of diversity (seven hells, there's supposed to be more Hyur than anything, and a good deal less catfolk). I fell in love with the Keeper style, even though I am usually an elf in EVERYTHING (MMOs, tabletops, you name it). I just don't like seeing a million of me running about.
  11. Ah, I was thinking about making this poll myself! You beat me to it, you...you...quick thinker, you! As for the question at hand...I'm still unsure. Perhaps the poll results will sway me one way over another.
  12. I've heard talk of stuff going on for non-legacy players on Gilgamesh. I can say for that all the talk about there being RP going on on Leviathan are dead wrong. Leviathan has absolutely nothing going on.
  13. That's a good a reason as any.
  14. Other new Keeper here...no worries, I see more Seekers and Hyur than us! I really like the idea of the chocobo farmer. I'm personally obsessed with the things, and I would also be one happy camper if I could breed them for the rest of my natural life. I see no issues, and it's an nice backstory. Only question here would be if you plan on making your mysterious Hyur a PC or an NPC. That's just out of my curiosity.
  15. That was my major issue. It ruined my immersion. I was then sitting on my couch incorporating the term "anyroad" into any sentence I can think of trying to make it have some degree of normalcy. It would be one thing if the word "how" didn't exist, BUT IT DOES. Ugh, Squeenix, why do you make my brain hurt. I'm an English major. :frustrated:
  16. By the gods, I thought I was the only one. I actually told my dad about that and he looked at me like I was mentally challenged.
  17. I'll try my best! I actually found the name Savarah a few years ago on Kongregate of all places, and instantly fell in love with it. My mains in every game are always some variations of Savarah or Serafyna. I came up with Ardyn all on my own as a surname, simply because I like the sound of it and it's rather simple. I RP my characters as an extreme extension of myself. I'm actually a rather assertive, bitchy female with intense emotions. I find it easier to project a character as myself (more or less), simply because my reactions to certain situations are genuine and realistic. For example, if you threaten or attempt to injure my sister, you're damn right I'm gonna come after you and do everything in my power to protect her including sacrificing myself. As for physical appearance, I like to play around with whatever character creators but I tend to gravitate towards fiery looking humanoids or lunar looking individuals (think red haired humans and traditional Keeper Miqo'te).
  18. Forgive my for my incompetence, but where have the Miqo'te settled since their migration? I know they've integrated into many cities and such, but I've sort of assumed they may have mainly gathered somewhere in the Shroud/Twelveswood around Gridania. Is this a valid assumption, or am I completely wrong? Also, we know that the Age of Endless Frost brought about the mass migrations of many races to Eorzea. Was it ever stated where everyone came from continent-wise? I will be asking many stupid questions as I slowly wade through Savarah's background. Many thanks in advance for all of those patient enough to tolerate me and my queries. :moogle:
  19. Reading this again (I seriously like it that much), did you take a little bit of official lore and run with it? I'm just not finding enough lore to make Savarah unique without being a Mary Sue. Unfortunately, this is making my skeleton of a backstory sort of...forgettable. TL;DR: SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND PROWESS WITH MEEEE
  20. Are you just a beautiful woman trapped in a male body?
  21. I am a female and I ALWAYS play female characters. I can RP a female better (duh), and I just like their appearance options and armor options much better. Though I must admit FFXIV has done a wonderful job with male options as well.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up. And Nox, thanks for the tl;dr above regarding stats. I always keep forgetting what does what.
  23. I've noticed the Lalafell alliteration as well. Reminded me of Tobli from FFX-2.
  24. Greetings traveler, and welcome aboard! We hope you find us to your fancy and that you enjoy your stay! :moogle:
