Introducing the Who. The who? The Who. Who?
Rinh Hallani replied to AFriendOfAFriend's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Exactly this. I'd have loved a female Doctor too but certainly not written by Moffat. Fingers crossed he's moved on by the time Twelve regenerates. -
What games are you playing/looking forward to?
Rinh Hallani replied to Orlog's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I'm playing WoW on Argent Dawn (EU) and not really looking forward to anything but FFXIV. Unless you count Dragon Age 3 but that's a long way off. -
Hipparion tribe - organization & discussion
Rinh Hallani replied to growly beast's topic in RP Discussion
My character was going to be skilled in hunting but with fists and not weapons. Would that still be viable? And I have no idea where she'd fit in the family tree, but she's full Seeker blood and a bit of an iconoclast. -

Aha, thanks to you and FreelanceWizard both for clearing that up. I was getting worried about having to know all the K Seekers! I would be interested in including it in my RP though, yes. I'm not particularly bothered about whether she's part of the branch or the original tribe but I think it would be a nice addition.

I have a K miqo'te. Does this mean that any other Seeker on the server with a K name will be related to me whether I like it or not? Not to say I'd have a problem with it in theory but it would imply that I'd know, at least on some level, every other K Seeker. I have a feeling RPing this could be difficult.

I'm also in the UK and had precisely the same concerns as you. I'm on Moogle for the beta and haven't seen any RPers yet, so after some discussion, I made a linkshell for EU players on Balmung. If you decide to go to Balmung, you're more than welcome to join us. Of course you can join other RP linkshells as well but this way those of us online during non-peak times (for NA) can still find RP. Edit: Aha, Zarek beat me to it! Cheers.

Interesting linkshell, I think my miqo'te would like to join.

Glad you're all interested! I've made the linkshell entry. I'm co-leading it with gitm and you can contact either of us about joining.

Europa is a linkshell for EU players and players from other regions who play during EU peak times on the NA server, Balmung. Due to time zone differences, EU players are many hours ahead of the majority of the server population and fewer RPers and RP events are on during our peak times. Purpose Europa serves as both an EU social community and a place to find RP, much like a "Looking for RP" channel. The linkshell can be used to: Arrange RP and IC meetups (e.g. "LFRP in Ul'dah"); Arrange and advertise RP events, particularly those occurring during EU peak times; Request assistance with quests or arrange groups; and General chat. Rules Move personal conversations to whispers when appropriate; Debate and some strong language is expected from time to time but don't cross the line to obscene or abusive; Keep disputes private or contact a leader if required; and Behave respectfully towards fellow members. There are no requirements for activity nor any need to give notice if you wish to leave. Joining Anyone may join. Contact any of the leaders below for an invitation. Pretty much everything you said aligns with what I had envisioned in the first place. It seems like there's enough interest so I'll get to work on this later this week and post a link when it's ready. Remember, it will be mainly used to coordinate RP during times when the server is quiet and looking for RP becomes a frustrating game of cat and mouse.

Firstly, I'm under the impression NA players outnumber EU players by quite a lot, especially if you're going on an NA server. Secondly, being part of an EU linkshell wouldn't mean you can't RP with NA players! I'm personally not keen on the idea of using a linkshell/guild as the sole basis for RP. I've done it in WoW and GW2 and it creates a very insular environment. What I'm proposing is more a creation of a "Looking For RP" channel, where people can say "I'm RPing in X now" or "I just found some RP in Y" and you can do what you like with that information.
-
Following the discussions here and here, I'm considering setting up a linkshell for EU players on Balmung. It would be an OOC group for coordinating RP and providing assistance to each other when most of the NA players are still asleep/at work. Anyone interested? If there's enough of a response, I'll get cracking on it!

I'm in the UK and going on Balmung. I'm on Moogle for the beta right now but haven't seen any RP. At least on Balmung, even if there's fewer people on during the times I'm playing, I'll be much more likely to run into RPers.

Print Screen works fine for me except in cutscenes, much to my dismay. Do I really need a third party program to take cutscene screens?

Haha, love it.

I saw so much atrocious behaviour in WoW that it put me off the game entirely. It wasn't so bad before LFG; if someone was a raging jerk in a dungeon, you'd notify the rest of the server and they wouldn't get another group again. LFG erased any sense of accountability or community so it became a free for all. The toxicity wasn't usually directed at myself but seeing a new player be abused for being new made me very angry. Everyone starts somewhere. One of the last dungeons I ran, the druid had just dinged 85. His dps wasn't great but we were doing fine. The tank voted to kick him. I asked why and he said his dps was shit. I reminded him that he'd just dinged and was trying to gear up. The tank said he "wasn't here to help people". I asked him how exactly did he gear up then and left the group. For those reasons, I was incredibly wary of duty finder but so far my experiences have been quite pleasant. Someone always asks if we've all been here before and if anyone says no, they go through the tactics. We shrugged off any deaths, picked ourselves up and tried again. I can only hope it stays this way.

I'm playing a female miqo'te because, well, my favourite race in GW2 was the charr and I can't resist a fluffy tail.
-
Yeah, I always assumed it was more the women saying "prove your worth to us" rather than the men saying "I own you all".

I had a quick look at the other linkshells but didn't see an EU-centric one. If none truly exists and I were to create one, would anyone want to be a part of it? Naturally we'd RP with whoever is online at the time but it might help to converge in one group during those times few NAers are online. Possibly also organise our own EU time zone events but we'll see. What say ye?

K'yara will be a pugilist/monk. It's the best fit for how she's shaping up RP wise and I find it a fun class to play.
-
I probably won't be able to go to anything starting past midnight my time but hopefully us EUers can band together and perhaps even create some events for our time zone. Thanks for the replies, everyone!

I'm in the GMT time zone and I'm concerned how this is going to affect my ability to RP with the rest of you. I know I asked about this before, and I'm very grateful for the reassurances I received, but I was planning on going to the Blue Skies event this Friday only to discover it starts at 1 am my time. Of course one event isn't a big deal but I do wonder how many people will actually be RPing when I'm online and whether I'll miss most events due to the time difference. Is anyone planning on organising EU events or RPing during EU evenings?

My thoughts exactly!
